A large desk sits near the entrance of the library. This is where the librarian, Madam Donovan, usually sits, keeping an eye out over her domain, and its prominent placement makes it clear that students are welcome to approach her if they require assistance. You won't necessarily have to ask for help, however; a large tome on a nearby stand, full of extensive records of past teachers, prefects, awards, champions, and all kinds of events of the long history of Hogwarts, is often the first - and easiest - way to look for information. Feel free to consult it, but be mindful of its age. This book may not be removed from the library unless under the specific instruction from the librarian.
A further large collection of shelves, not unlike the others around the library, stretches out behind the librarian's desk. The books it holds make up the library reference section. A complete inventory of all the books in the library, they are not to be taken out of the room, but you are welcome to use them in here.
Remember, the librarian is nearby if you need help. | |

Heading into the library with her rememberall under her arm Sophie the lioness prefect looked round for her head of house. Madam Donovan must surely know how a rememberall worked right? Not that she needed one. The brunette also needed a good book to read which she was certain Madam Donovan could help out with. Looking around the room Sophie didn't see her anywhere, but the groundskeeper was there. Heading over in his direction she asked "Hello, Mr Stryker do you know where Madam Donovan is?"

Simon sure wasn't expecting suddenly having an arm around his neck, the action pulling him back somewhat as the groundskeeper kept a hold on him in his apparenty excitement over whatever Madam Donovan had in store for him. His own right arm moved almost instinctively to grab hold as he looked up. Granted he wasn't being strangled but he could have choked had he gone to move to help the girl as he had intended to do.
"Please... let go," he replied lowering his gaze back down when he heard Sophie and giving the prefect a look as if to say a little help seeing as she seemed preoccupied with finding the librarian. His eyes passed over to the other student as her giggles finally escaped.

This guy really looked like he was in a situation he was going to have some trouble getting out of. She was able to stop herself from laughing. She did feel bad for it. "Um...Mr. Stryker? I think you should let him go. Don't know how well he can breathe." Fallon figured that the boy probably could, but it might make the groundskeeper let go.
She nodded at the two other girls who were standing there. This really was a strange situation. Something Fallon definitely did not experience before.

The angle he was held in, Simon couldn't see the placement of the groundskeepers fist above his head or he might have tried to duck out of the way. As it was nothing seemed to be up other then still being in the headlock and the captain awaited some sort of response, his raised hand lowered since he wasn't about to fight a staff member unless it was necessary and he wasn't being blocked of air. He remained silent as Mr. Stryker answered the students as to where Madam Donovan was and to whether he himself was fine, the seventh year a little touched his fellow classmate was concerned for him.
"Hey..." he mused cringing at the noogie but straightening himself up now that he was free again. "I'm fine," Simon assured the girl, fighting the urge to make a face at the groundskeeper, but deciding instead to focus on the students since the librarian had left him to help. "Madam Donovan needed to look after something for a moment and should be back momentarily," he replied clarifying the older gentleman's earlier response. "Was there something I could perhaps help you all with?" he asked momentarily forgetting what had already been asked.

After cleaning up what had been a considerable mess inside her office, Kimber came out holding something nestled in her arms. She closed the door shut behind her, barely noticing the small crowd now gathered in front of her desk.
Though he wasn't looking at her, Kimber walked right up to Chad and gave his shirt a little tug. "Surprise," she whispered as she lifted the puppy up for him to see. "I know we talked about getting one later but I just couldn't wait anymore," she explained, blushing slightly. "I hope you like her."

"A puppy!!" Chad bounced forwards and eagerly took the fluffy!puppy into his arms. "Ohh, I LOVE her!" He laughed as the puppy started to lick at his face while he scratched it behind the ears. "Thank you, Kimber," he smiled, leaning in and kissing her cheek.

OOOHHHH. A cute little puppy! Zara's eyes were stuck at it. It was so cute! Cutie cutie little puppy. Alright, now she had a plan to visit Mr. Stryker almost every week just to see the puppy. Hihih, cutee!
Then remembering why she was there, she looked at the Gryffindor captain and smiled at him. Well now that Madame Donovan was here, she's ask her. "Erm, sorry to break your moment. I was just wondering if you had any Aparecium parchments here?"

Fallon was glad that the guy was okay. She cared about other people's safety. Was that so wrong? She was just about to answer the boy, saying what she was looking for when Madam Donovan's office door opened.
...Fallon restrained her AWWW once she saw the adorable puppy that Madam Donovan was holding. Mr. Stryker's outburst at seeing it could've compared to what Fallon wanted to say perfectly. Fallon had always wanted a puppy...
"That has to be one of the cutest puppies that I have ever seen." She so wanted to pet it. She stayed where she was though. Didn't want to be a nuisance.

You had to be blind not to see the look that Simon gave Sophie and the plea for help written in his face. The Gryffindor prefect was in a worrysome predicament being strangled by Groundskeeper Stryker. Worried she asked "Simon are you all right?" Meeting Mr Stryker's gaze she asked "Mr Stryker could you please let go off Simon? We need a fit captain to lead the Quidditch team." Not one who needs to spend time in the Hospital Wing. Quote:

The groundskeeper was acting rather strangely. Sophie was about to ask again for him to release Simon when Mr Stryker let go off him but only after giving him a noogie. Apparently Mr Stryker was excited becasue Madam Donovan was getting him a surprise of some sort. Quote:

Sophie changed the position on her rememberall as Simon asked if there was something he could help her with. Had he become Madam Donovan's assistant or something? If he had then she was a teensy bit jelaous. Sophie would have liked to be offered to help out. Pouting inside she spoke up not showing how she felt at all. "Simon, do you know how a rememberall works? My granny sent me one with the morning post. But her instructions were rather cryptic." If he didn't know Sophie could always ask Madam Donovan or Groundskeeper Stryker. Quote:

Simon turned around as Madam Donovan made her reappearance carrying a dog that was more then apparent the surprise meant for the over-excitable groundskeeper. Alright so it was cute but it still strange as to his behavior. Or the librarian's behavior as the seventh year could sense something up by what what she was saying or doing.
His attention brought back to his fellow students when Sophie finally spoke up asking for his assistance. "Yeah I'm really fine," he assured her which was true now that he was free and away from the older man's hands and attention. "Well if I remember correctly, you're supposed to hold it securely in one hand for a few moments. And if the inside is filled with red gas then you have forgotten something, the level of importance of the information, the deeper the red," he answered thinking back to something he had read about the magical device in question.

The previous Librarian might have saved them somewhere... " she said glancing around the room. "but I refuse." That gossip rag was nothing but a nuisance. His attention brought back to his fellow students when Sophie finally spoke up asking for his assistance. "Yeah I'm really fine," he assured her which was true now that he was free and away from the older man's hands and attention. "Well if I remember correctly, you're supposed to hold it securely in one hand for a few moments. And if the inside is filled with red gas then you have forgotten something, the level of importance of the information, the deeper the red," he answered thinking back to something he had read about the magical device in question. Listening to Simon offering his help to the other students, Kimber patted him on the back. "Thanks for all of your help, Simon" she said. "Ten points to Gryffindor. As long as you promise to come back and help me when I need it," she added. It made her proud to see how willing her lions could be.

Simon couldn't help but overhear what one of the students asked Madam Donovan about...those bloody apparecium notes. They were annoying and he had wondered more then once if the latest story had been someone spying on him when we had gone to Tate even though all they said was Gryffindor. He was glad however when the librarian refused to help even if she had known where to get ahold of them.
Turning his attention back to Sophie to see if there was anything else, his attention wasn't on the older woman until he felt the pat on his back. The seventh year turning his head to look at her just as she speaks and smiled at what she said, even if points werent his intention when offering help. "Thank you Madam Donovan," he said taking it as his cue to step back to the other side of the desk. "Of course," he added with a nod confirming her request, the seventh year eventually leaving the library later on.

But there weren't any Aparecium stuff at the library. "Thank you, Madame Donovan." She told her Head of House. Maybe she'll just have to let it go. She's heard about it from a friend. How Patroclus was mentioned there. EEEHHH, Zara just has to read it. If it was HIS name on it, she has to know about it. But how to find it? She nodded to those in the room and left quietly.

When Madam Donovan finally acknowledged her presence Sophie beamed at her. "Um could i get a thrilling and adventerous book please?" In a whisper she confided to her HOH "I'm not feeling were romantic at the moment after a boy I liked chose to be with somebody else instead of me." It still hurt the lioness prefect to think about Evan together with Mina. But Finlay had asked her out on a date so maybe her luck in the love department was changing. It was clear though that her HOH had found love or at least that was what it looked like. Why else would she give Mr Stryker a puppy?

"My name is Rebecca Hammer and I was looking for a book on unicorns, please." Rebecca had always loved unicorns and wanted to know more about them. She also secretly always wanted to own a unicorn.
