As you enter the History of Magic classroom, you instantly hear music both muggle and wizard playing softly in the background. It is an upbeat set of songs.
The classroom is decorated with a huge Happy Birthday banner across the front of the room that is charmed to change from blue to yellow to red to green to alternating colors occasionally. Each time the color changes, the font of the words change as well.
Across the right side of the classroom is a long table divided into four sections. Each section has a table cloth with a crest of each house on it. So there is a blue tablecloth with the Ravenclaw crest, a red tablecloth with the Gryffindor crest, a green table with the Slytherin crest, and a yellow table with the Hufflepuff crest. Each table contains plates, silverware, cups, and napkins that match the color of the tablecloth. Also there is a punch bowl full of a drink in the same shades. In the center of each table is a cake decorated with the crest of the house.
The middle of the classroom is divided into four different sections. Each section holds tables covered in similar tablecloths. Above each set of tables, streamers of the house shade are hanging above the cluster of table. A charm as been set that makes fireworks of the house shade pop occasionally about each cluster. Every once and a while confetti in the house colors explodes overhead and flutters down to the tables only to disappear a few minutes later.
The professor has written a message on the board that is enchanted to scribble out in her handwritting and stay for a few minutes and then erase and start again:

The Professor can be found at the door shaking everyone's hands as they enter the door.

The professor smiled at the girl as she talked to the bowl, “I’m sorry Zara, but it won’t be able to give you Chocolate Kool-aid...actually I’ve never had that flavor but it sounds delightful.” she said and with a flick of her wand the girl’s name was changed on the board.
The professor was just so excited about the great answers on the board. She glanced at the board with a smile and then back at the students. With a flick of her wand, the cakes from the different tables hovered over to the middle of each cluster of tables. “It’s almost that time to eat the cakes, I have one more question and then we’ll dig in.” she said as the cakes landed simultaneously.
“There are a few things that I want to add to the lists really quick.” she said glancing back at the board and with a flick of her wand a few more details were written across the different parts. ”There that will do..”

She turned back towards the class. “As you can see the founders were amazing wizards and witches with great talents and strengths. As you know, they created their houses in their image.” She flicked her wand and the boards flipped over again. They were still divided into the house colors but they had been wiped clean of the notes. “Now I want you to share ONE attribute that the founders looked for in their houses when they were sorting....or ONE attribute that you feel your house is based on.” she glanced out and realized that might not make sense, so she decided to give an example. “For example, as Ms. Deluise mentioned earlier, Godric Gryffindor sleected students according to bravery. Now remember we don’t want this to turn into a battle between houses, so just stick with facts not your opinion on whether the founders were right or wrong in their decisions. Remember that was over 1100 years ago and times were different.” she said hoping to fend off the comments of ‘I believe that so and so believing that only pigs should be chosen was correct.’ Before she let them start answering she said once again, “ Make sure you say your house so the board knows which column to place your answer under.”
As they answered, she flicked her wand and started placing a plate and a fork and a knife in front of each student. This time around she was mixing up the colors intentionally.

One attribute? That's bravery, but it's mentioned. Maybe courage will do. Raising her hand, she spoke, "Zara Griffiths, Gryffindor. Well, since bravery and chivalry is taken, maybe courage?"
Wisteria started eating some of the food that was in front of her. She took a particular liking to the pumpkin pasties.
Thinking of some of the attributes that Gryffindor had,m she didn't want to sound too redundant, but she didn't have anything too clever to say. She raised her hand anyways, "Wisteria Hartly, Gryffindor: I would think it strived for a sense of peace. Godric wanted all houses and even those who weren't pure blood to attend Hogwarts."

Kurum stared at the board and squinted for a moment before raising her hand. "E-E-E-Excuse me....P-P-P-Professor," she said nervously not wanting to offend. "Y-Y-Y-You've spelled my name wrong. There is no 'a' in Kurumi. There are two 'u's'..."
Her name was foreign, so it was an honest mistake, but she didn't want the poor professor to get her homework assignment from a Kurumi Hollingberry and be confused.
"Godric Gryffindor also valued determination," she continued with her hand raised in the air.

Honestly? He had no idea. He'd spent his first four yeas at Beauxbatons and he'd never needed to read Hogwarts: A History. He thought his answer was a pretty good guess though.
The professor turned after each answer to make sure that the attributes were being listed under the right color and then would turn back and give a “Good job!” or a “Great answer.” to everyone that gave her an answer to her question. She knew it was an easy one and that many were not sure where she was going with this, but there was a point to her madness.
She stopped on one young man’s answer.

'Daring and nerve are other attributes of Gryffindors, in general.' Ari replied, adding her name once more 'Ariadne Marchbanks, first year Gryffindor'. She started to think what other characteristics the Sorting Hat was looking for when selecting Gryffindors, but it wasn't that easy, since it had put her into that House mostly because she was begging to.

Alex looked around at the students who hadn't answered yet. With a small whimper he threw his arms up in the air, trying to reach for the cake that was still hovering above their heads.
He wanted it, and he wanted it now. But he couldn't mention another quality of Slytherin could he? He gave up, crossed his arms over his chest and settled for just staring longingly at the cake. How about impatient, for a quality.
"Alex Reed, Slytherin. Again." he said while raising his arm. He shouldn't raise his hand twice but A. there was cake at state here and B. Well, he really didn't need a B. "I think that when Hogwarts was funded over a thousand years ago, it was a lot different to what it is now. Some people still think of it as negative and judge people in it because of its negative reputation." he rambled before shrugging. "I just think that some things that Slytherin stood for then such as 'Blood Purity' isn't a factor now..." then he shut his mouth and looked around the classroom once. He cleared his throat once and sank a bit lower down in his seat. "Sorry professor." he mumbled. He shouldn't have started telling people about his own opinion, no one wanted to hear it and Professor Cerulean had clearly said he wouldn't include personal thoughts. "I... I want cake." He couldn't fully concentrate when the cake was teasing him. His mouth just started to ramble, anything to get the cake.

Peyton WANTED cake! So, she would do anything to get it. She raised her hand and answered. "PeytonBaltazar, Slytherin," she said rapidly, mashing her names together. "Slytherins are also known for self-preservation, like blaming others so they won't get in trouble," she whispered the last part. She was very familiar with THAT attribute like using someone as a human shield.
She smiled at the professor as in saying if they could have cake, now.

Gemma smiled as hands went up all over the classroom and almost all of them were correct....well that's a good start a class even if it was a simple question. "Good job everyone! She pointed her wand to each table as she spoke the next things. When her wand was pointed towards a table, a clear holographic crest of the house would appear over the table and remained over the table.
"Now we all know that Hogwarts was founded by four extraordinary wizards/witches." she flicked her wand towards the red table, "Godric Gryffindor" the holographic crest of the house appeared and spun slowly over the table. She pointed it towards the blue table and a crest appeared. "Rowena Ravenclaw" She repeated the process at the other two tables, "Helga Hufflepuff." and "Salazar Slytherin."
"Each wizard was known for their amazing talents and successes within the wizarding world and were known as pioneers of their time, which was a very hectic time, but we will get to that later on....if we have time..." she flicked her wand the crests stopped moving but were still their see-through versions.
She turned the wand towards the big and long board behind her and flicked it. Instantly the board was divided evenly into the four colors of the houses. "I have charmed the board to keep track of your responses." she said and then she said each house name again and the board magically began writing out the name of each house in the professor's handwritting over the appropriate color division. "In order to help it keep track of your answers, make sure you always say your name followed by your house and then your answer." she said with a little nod and one final flick.
She glanced over at the long table covered in decorations against the wall, "Before I ask my next question, please feel free to have a drink." she flicked her wand and instantly the cups spread out across the room and landed in front of each student followed by the correctly colored punch bowl that floated around the room filling up cups. "I hope you like the drinks, they are muggle flavored Kool-aid in the color of your house. I think the flavors are Cherry, Blueberry, Pineapple, and Apple."
She turned her complete attention towards the class. "Now I want you to share one thing that you know about the founder of your house, such as appearance, where they were born, what they were known for, skills, artifacts related to them or your house, attributes, etc. Let's make sure to stay away from hearsay or rumors, please." she said glancing out at the students. "Please try to only answer one thing so that everyone can have a chance to answer."

Jordan knew a thing or two about Godric Gyffindor, mainly because his whole family including his dad and mom (who were killed) were in Gryffindor. Jordan quickly raised his hand and answered, "Professor, I'm Jordan Kobe. First Year in Gryffindor. And Godric's Hollow was named after the famous Godric Gryffindor, himself." Jordan answered after hearing countless number of times that there was a famous attraction called Godric's Hollow.

With another flick of her wand, the muggle Happy Birthday song started playing and the Happy Birthday banner started changing colors crazily. "Today we are celebrating the Birthday of Hogwarts!!!" she said excitedly as more fireworks went off and candy started falling from the ceiling.

Nika looked up at her professor and wanted to answer, but how was she supposed to know how old the school is!?! It must ancient by the looks of it... She just shrugged and took out some parchment to begin taking her notes.

Nika looked at her professor with an eyebrow raised. Maybe she should've read her textbook at least once before she walked into the class. Normal muggle history was usually easy as cake for her, but magical history?!?! She couldn't come up with a single answer so far!
Nika let out an exasperated sigh and got up to grab an Apple flavored drink. She sipped it slowly as she listened to other students answer. Maybe if she just slides down in her chair the professor won't even notice that she's there.....

Sierra sat in her chair with a fixed glare on her face. This class was too cheerful, too happy, and too positive. She was completely out of her element and was therefore quite uncomfortable as she listened to the lesson proceed. At least her topic was Salazar Slytherin. It could be worse--she could have gotten stuck discussing how Helga was pitiful enough to take on the lot of them.
She watched the charmed board, debating on whether or not to give it a fake name, when she decided that she wasn't even bothered to answer properly, much less come up with a creative fake name. She raised her hand for the first time all lesson. "Sierra Greingoth. Second year Slytherin," she instructed it. ...and spell it correctly, please."Salazar Slytherin wanted the shreeeewd," she said, drawing out the word shrewd to make it sound as evil as she possibly could.
She smiled at him and answered his question after seeing his frustration on her directions, “Well, Mr. Simpson, as I have mentioned twice now. The board is charmed so you must let it know what house your are in so that it will file your answer under the correct heading.” she said with a little edge to her voice. Gemma hated repeating herself. She smiled at his answer, “Yes that is a great attribute. Thank you for your answer.”

Honestly, Dallin didn't know much about character traits of his house. He was always just told that Ravenclaws were smart and good-looking. But since those were already said, he had to think of something else. So he raised his hand, making something up on the spot.

I just didn’t want a fight to break out because so many people are so patinate about their opinions sometimes. “O Ms. Fanster, what an excellent thing to point out and a great explanation. I completely agree with you. Great job at thinking outside of the box and explaining yourself so well.” Gemma said giving her a big approving smile. That was an excellent statement that she would try to remember.

Gemma smiled at the young man and held back a giggle, “Great thinking. I’m not sure what it would. It would probably just put down Mr. Bean, which is a very funny muggle actor.” she said with a little friendly wink towards the student. It was always nice to have a little bit of humor in her class...she liked this one.
She glanced at the board one more time and shook her head in approval. There were enough traits up there to share her point.
“Thank you everyone for helping out with this. We have some amazing attributes and traits from each house.” she said glancing over her shoulder one more time.

Then with a flick of her wand the colors that divided the four sections disappeared and all that were left were just the traits.

She turned back to the students and with a flick of her wand the list was alphabetized so that you couldn’t really tell where the traits had been before. It was just a list of words.
“Okay now we have just a list of attributes and traits that Hogwarts students have. Glance at that list and try to find five words that describe you.” she said glancing over her shoulder.
“Welcome to Hogwarts! Where we are a group of students working to further our education in the Wizarding World. And if you’ll notice many of us, including myself, have traits and attributes from other houses and that’s what makes Hogwarts and the work of our founders so amazing.” she said looking at the student’s faces trying to see if they understood her.
Then with a flick of her wand, everything in the room turned into a deep purple shade. From the table cloths on all of the tables to the cakes to the cups to eatery to the fireworks to the confetti, all were a dark shade of Hogwarts Purple. Instantly the disappearing confetti started falling again and the fireworks all popped in purple.
“I want each of you to see our History of Hogwarts not so much as the history of the houses but as a history of all of us. So, here’s what I want you to do....Grab your plate and your fork and knife and your cup and move to another table. You can not sit by anyone from your own house. You have one minute to find a new spot.” she paused for a minute to let this sink into their brains. ”Okay ready get set GO!” she said loudly waiting for the students to scramble through the confetti and fireworks. "Once everyone is seated, we will start cutting up the different cakes." she said as she felt her stomach rumble.

Simon winked as he went next to the Professor. "I'll sit with you at your table then." Simon smiled the Professor hadn't said that wasn't allowed.
