Kurumi tugged the edged of her blanket even more when Heather mentioned...Connor. He was a mysterious part of her life right now. He made her comfortable, happy, and forget all the bad things in her past. At the same time, he made her uncomfortable, more frightened, and, at times, even less sure of herself. "Y-Y-Yeah...maybe," she whispered as she hid her face a bit from Heather.

Heather giggled. "Hey Kurumi, let's do this again next week. I'll think of a really nice song to sing for you next week."

Nodding shyly, Kurumi managed to smile at Heather. "Alright, I'll try translate the song I just sang then." Kurumi was glad that she had Heather to practice with. It made everything seem less...awkward.

Tayla sat on her bed and read the list of things she had to do for the DADA long-term assignment. She chuckled.

"I guess I'll just start now...with the easier things," she thought to herself.

She stood up from the bed and started to stretch the way they were taught in dance class back in the Muggle world. She also bent down and touched her toes. After around 30 minutes, she took her quill and ink and put a check mark beside the items she had finished on the list. "Okay, numbers 4 and 6 done for the day."

She browsed the other things on the list.

"I figure number 1 is once a week so I'll do that tomorrow...I'll do number 2 tonight before bed...number 3 - erm, tomorrow in the training room maybe...number 5..." Tayla paused in thought. Of course, it was Josh she first thought about. But she definitely couldn't dance with him - well maybe she could, but she doubted she had enough nerve to ask him. In the end, she decided she'd ask William instead. They were friends and he had to do the assignment, too, anyway. "I'll ask him tomorrow." she decided. "But if he can't, then I can always ask Ari, Zara, Nika or maybe Kurumi. It doesn't say my partner has to be a boy..." Then she suddenly thought of the older Slytherin boy she was partners with in Potion. "Salander...hmmm..." But she doubted he'd say yes. Besides, it might feel a little odd. They worked well together, but they weren't exactly close friends yet.

Tayla continued with the list. "I'm meditating tonight so I'll talk to myself tomorrow." Tayla chuckled. That sounded a little weird, even if she was just thinking it. "Karate? Hmmm...gotta ask someone how to do that...Swim in the lake! Ooh! That will be fun!" She grinned. "Sing to an acquaintance...hmmm...I guess I'll do that when I go down to the common room."

Tayla gave another small laugh. "This is going to be fun."

Rosemary smiled as she listened to Tayla, "Listing the DADA assignments?" She asked softly as she brushed her long locks of hair.

"No, not yet," Elle replied. She really should get a move on with her homework. She had sat down earlier to start on Lafay's, but then was distracted. "Are you taking potions?" She asked.


"Yes! They are! At least, the few that I've met are..." She said rather excitedly. Then whenever she had asked Nika about Potions, she got that look on her face. The kind of look that said, I would rather kill myself than go to that class. "Yea, I did decently with the Shrivelling Potion, now I just need to figure out where to start on that homework...and Lafay? I noticed she was pretty mean to some of the kids in class, but not to me..." Yet, Elle thought. She had heard plenty of stories about the Potions Master, and hoped she would never experience anything like that.

Tayla nodded and smiled at Rosemary. "Yup!" Then Tayla had an idea. "Erm...some of these things I need to do with a partner. You mind if I sing to you? You can sing back, too, so we both get something done." Tayla grinned.


"Yeah, I am," Tayla replied. "But I haven't started on our Potions homework yet. Have you?"

Rosemary nodded, "Sure..... I think the ballroom is going to be difficult to do though..." She chuckled as she thought about a song to sing.

'You know, I'd forgotten the most important part. They had Transfiguration in common too. I always picture Dumbledore as Headmaster and omit the fact that he taught Transfiguration as well.' Ariadne shook her head.

'Yeah, you think you know. That means I got ahead of myself again.' Ari laughed. Her curiosity seriously had no boundaries sometimes. 'So...where do you reckon it is?' the brunette wondered.

'Hehe, I'm sure we'll do well in Charms but we still have a lot to learn. Not to say that today wasn't an excellent start, however.' Ariadne smiled.

'OMGosh! Are you doing the DADA assignment?' Rose asked 'Can you help me? As in can I sing to you two?'

Rosemary smiled "And was head of Gryffindor before Minerva..." She added, "From what I know.. He was her Transfiguration teacher and Head of House..."

"And fret nae Lassie! As long as ye don't let yeself get too curious mind! Curiosity kills the cat so they say!" She chuckled as her Scottish self came out fully, "I don't know but I think there's a hidden compartment that can only be opened by someone who can think like her.." She added in a less Scottish accent.

"Pretty sure of it, though I also managed to start a bit of the DADA stuff."

Cove nodded her head proudly. "Eh, kind of. The violin's more of a struggle, youn have to remember more...." Cove said. "But, surfings kind of hard." She finished.

"Which do you enjoy more?" Tayla asked.

"I still have to find a partner," Tayla replied and then cleared her throat, preparing to sing. She grinned. "Don't laugh okay? I like singing but I'm not that good really..." She chuckled, easing her sudden nervousness. She always got nervous when singing in public, even if right now she was just in the dormitory.

Tayla decided to sing a song from one of her favourite cartoon films, Anastasia.

Tayla finished. She looked out the window and smiled. "I hope it won't suddenly rain," she said, laughing. "You're turn."

'Hm, I don't know. I think surfing because of how much I get to travel and all the surfers I get to meet. I've met a lot of people that way." Cove said smiling.

Rosemary listened and applauded at the end, "That's really good!" She complimented as she thought of a song.

Rosemary finished as she blushed, "It's not fantastic..."

"No, I haven't. Maybe we should work on it together?" Elle suggested. She reallyyy needed to start on it, it was due soon and Professor Lafay would NOT be happy if it wasn't turned in.

"McGonagall? Are you by any chance related to Minerva McGonagall?!" asked Ronnie in wonder. "Oh and it's great to meet you too!" Ronnie said, smiling.

Nika's mouth opened in excitement. "You play!?! Me too! Except I've only been playing for three years now and I'm not very good yet..." Nika said cheerfully. So what if she wasn't good yet. She'll learn eventually. "I like the piano and all but I'm really hoping to learn how to play the guitar!" that way she can sing and play together.

"I still haven't met him yet Cove!" She said in mock anger. "Oh no! Tell the other John to back off! OR I can do it for you!" She said bouncing. "Well I guess you'll know for sure when your in love." She said making some weird faces as she thought about it. "I guess when you know you'll know it in your gut that it's real?" Eh okay. Twelve year old love consultant? Not such a great Idea.

"I haven't even started my Arithmancy yet!" She said with a laugh. "I write songs though because I love to sing so maybe the poem won't be that hard for me...?" Hopefully. "I really should get started on it though." Or else it will take forever. "I procrastinate all of the time so your not the only one! Besides we're at Hogwarts it's so hard to stay concentrated on doing homework when you could be doing anything but."

"Yeah I don't think that she likes me very much, but then again I don't think she likes anyone very much." She said recalling the time she luckily "got a warning". "What has been your favorite class so far?"

Tayla smiled at Cove. "Like that boy you like," she teased.


"It's great!" Tayla replied. "So I guess you're from Scotland? That's the first time I heard the anthem."


"Sure," Tayla replied. "I scribbled some ideas for the essay." She took out some parchment, her quill, and ink and started to write her name. "We can work now if you want."

"I'd love to hear you sing! One of your songs even," Tayla said with a smile. "And you're right about Hogwarts. I love it here! I can't wait to get some more free time and explore the castle again."

Zara was all happy to find another musician at Hogwarts. Really, all kinds of people are in this place. "That's great, Nika!" She beamed.

Then the guitar. Oohh, Zara's been taught the basics. Chords and everything, but she can't really do much finger plucking. Only strumming. No fancy whatevers, "I can play the guitar. But only the basic chords. Nothing fancy or expert stuff."

Jackie came in, tired. She was feeling lonely as always. Being a first year is terrifying. Everything's so new and huge.

She sat down on her bed, looking wearily at the other girls, who were so busy talking and having fun. She hoped they would talk to her. She was so shy she hated it. That's why I never get much friends, she thought and sighed, closing her silvery green eyes and helf-lying on the bed...

Ronnie walked into the girls dormitories and looked around from the entrance. She saw a fellow first year and Gryffindor, sitting alone on her bed. She looked terribly lonely and Ronnie felt very bad for her. So she walked up to her and said, "Hi, I'm Ronnie Weasley. Want to be friends?"

Jackie looked up. 'Hello, Ronnie, I'm Jacqueline. But you can call me Jackie.'

Wanna be friends? Of course....

'I'd love to be friends with you.' She smiled. 'Which year are you in? I'm a first year. Hogwarts is magnificent. I absolutely love it, don't you?' She couldn't not speak of Hogwarts. It was enchanting, especially for someone who was unaware of this big new magical world.

Ariadne knew that Dumbledore had been Head of Gryffindor, but was unaware that he had that position while Minerva McGonagall was still a student at Hogwarts. 'So...there must've been quite a big age difference between them.' the girl realized.

'I'm sure you'll be able to think like her.' she nodded. 'Oh? What did you do from the DADA stuff? I just tried speaking to myself in the mirror, that was so weird!' Ari recalled with a blush. 'I'm having the most trouble with ballroom dancing.' she confessed.

Listening to Rosemary's song, she smiled and said: 'That was really good. I have a terrible voice.' she sighed. Well, she did want to complete as many points as possible, so she decided to give singing a try. Ariadne decided upon 'Starlight' by Muse, her favourite Muggle oldie. And so she started 'I will be chasing a staaaarlight...' No windows broken yet? Brilliant.

Rosemary giggled as she nodded, "Minerva McGonagall is my Great-Grandmother on my father's side."

Rosemary nodded, "Aye... I am a proper Scottish Lass, borne and bred from the homeland!" She chuckled as she let her Scottish accent fully flow.

Rosemary nodded, "Yup.... 44 years... Doubt that that stopped them if what you and I believe to be true!"

She then smiled brightly, "Well I've already been mistaken to be her by some of those in Diagon Alley.... It was so embarrassing! And I sorta swam the lake, done the 50 rolls, ran 8 km and now done the singing!"

She smiled as she heard Ariadne sing, "That's really nice and I know what you mean about the Ballroom dancing, but I know how to dance."
