Gazing out upon the lagoon you are reminded of just how perfect and beautiful nature can be. The crystal clear water of the lagoon beckons you to take a dip in its tranquil waters. Whether it be just your tired feet or for a full on splashing swim, the water is at a wonderfully fresh temperature with depths that vary from very shallow to deep enough to dive in.

Schools of bright fish are seen darting here and there and more than one turtle is seen lounging in the afternoon sun at the water’s edge where the lagoon is fringed with sandy beach and flattened rocks are found perfect for sunbathing.

Feel like jumping in? Why not use the ever convenient rope swing your prefects installed precisely for that reason. Rocky easily climbable out-croppings frame the lagoon's clear water, providing the ideal location to jump safely off of. And let’s not forget the waterfall that slopes in such a way that it could easily be used as a water slide.

But that’s not all the lagoon has to offer. Explore the hidden cove behind the waterfall where beautiful coral decorates the entrance and fluorescent algae embellish the cave walls drawing your attention to the amazing sea shell mosaic of the Black Lake against the far wall.

Besides, he wouldn't have even bothered talking to her if that was the case. Shrugging to herself, she made herself comfortable on the sand, and placing her feet in the water, she turned to face Carter.

Did he want to talk about what was wrong?

She may not be very good with giving advice, although she thought she was excellent at it, but she did know how to listen. She even knew when it was a good time to nod in agreement. But it seemed he didn't want to talk about it.

He was quiet for a few moments trying to decide if he should tell Destiny what was wrong. The last time he'd told Destiny about something that upset him... she ended up making things worse. But, there was no way this situation could get worse. Plus, she was sure to notice that something was wrong.

Besides. He'd like to give some credit to Destiny. She had to have grown up some in the past few terms like the rest of them did. Her getting over cooties was evidence of that.

Finally, he decided to tell her. "Caroline dumped me." And before he knew what he was doing he was giving Destiny... and the turtle... a hug. He was giving them the hug that he desperately needed.

Destiny was tempted to place her hand on Carter's forehead to see if he was sick, but she decided against it. If he was sick, he could be contagious. She also decided not to correct him about the turtles; he didn't seem all that interested anyway.

Setting the turtle back on her lap, she stared out into the water while they sat in silence. Something was definitely wrong with the boy. Usually she was wishing he would shut up, but now..not that she really wanted him to talk, it was kind of weird.

Chancing a glance over at him, she was just about to ask if he wanted her to leave, but he beat her to it and spoke first. She didn't know what was more surprising. The fact that Caroline had dumped him, or the fact that Carter was now hugging her ~~and the turtle~~. "I'm sorry, Carter." she whispered as her arms sloooowly went around him. He must have been desperate for a hug, if he hugged her of all people.

"You don't know where I could find a love potion, do you?"

"Caroline!" she called out as she made her way towards the girl as quickly as possible, slipping and sliding here and there as she went.

But the girl's face was... sad. Very sad. Beyond sad. Just plain... depressing! "Hey," Kita said softly, seating herself next to Caroline on the huge rock, "You ok?"

... Stupid question really.

Well this was...nice. It was a refreshing way to not worry about classes and just be able to relax. Although Samira was wearing her outfit meant for swimming, she was not getting in that water. That is, unless someone came along and encouraged her to get in the water.

Which wasn't likely.

Walking over cautiously, the Slytherin slowly dipped a tow into the water. She was slightly weary of being this close to the water. She didn't want anyone to come up from behind her and push her in the water. She would not be happy and that person would most likely be in the hospital wing for a month.

Letting out a small sigh, Samira leaned back and just stood alone, watching the water and people around her.

Caroline slipped her feet down it the cool water. She started splashing the water with her feet. This place was so beauitful. The warm sun. The pretty blue and cool water of the lagoon. And the views were spectacular! This spot was the perfect spot to sit and cry. Why not no one else was a around to ask questions, and she had been crying for since she had ended it. Her blue eyes filled with tears. They streamed down her cheeks. She just let them fall.

Hearing someone call her name she quickly wiped her tears away. She turned to see who had called out her name. Her face was as still as stone."Hey Kita." She was glad to see Kita, but just couldn't get her lips to form a smile. She was begining to think that she would never smile again. She shook her head. Her eyes started to water up. She moved over a bit to give Kita some room. "No." She answered Kita's question simply. It was the only word she could get out.

Carter smiled gratefully at Destiny after the hug. He knew that was probably the last thing she expected from him. But the fact that she returned it ~~awkwardly~~ meant something. Either he looked a mess... or, the option he was more leaning toward, was that she was a good friend.

Then. He did something odd. He laughed. And he laughed hard. Maybe it was because that was, by far, the worst attempt anyone had ever made at cheering someone up. Or maybe it was because he couldn't remember the last time he laughed.

"Just please don't give it to a snake this time." Not that she gave it to a snake before. She gave it to him last time. But it was because of a snake.

He then picked up the turtle hoping for some kind of distraction. "You know. I once saw a turtle big enough to ride." he said petting the shell of this turtle. He only wished that turtle had been close enough to ride.

Cass ran to the edge of the water as fast as her legs could take her. She really wanted to jump in the water right now. It would be nice to swim in a place where you wouldn't have to worry about being attacked by some mental sea creature or sharing the lake with the giant squid.

She sat down near the water and took her shoes off, stuffing them inside her bag, which contained her towel, her wand and a few other things. It kinda sucked that Fee and Freya weren't with her, but she couldn't find them anywhere and there was no one she was missing out on this just because she wanted to wait for them. Nuh-uh. No way.

Then she pulled her top over her head and folded it neatly, placing it on top of her bag, then it was followed by her shorts, then her necklace. She didn't want them getting wet...she didn't bring extra clothes with her...

Then she jumped in, splashing a couple of people nearby. She quickly muttered an apology, smile on her face, hair, matted and stuck around her face and a healthy pink flush on her cheeks. Thank Rex for teaching her how to swim during first year. "This is so much fun!!!" She said loudly as she laughed

Not only did she, somehow, manage to get Carter to smile, she had gotten him to laugh. And although he was laughing a whole lot, it was much better than that mopey look that was on his face.

Destiny laughed a little with him, not as much, and she shook her head when he mentioned giving the love potion to a snake. "No, no. I don't think I would be able to handle one of my housemates rhyming words with Carter." She could think of a few words already, and yeah, Carter the Farter..that was way too much information.

Giving him a small smile, to let him know she was only kidding because she was really, REALLY done with giving out potions, she watched as he picked up the turtle, eyes widening a bit at what he said. A turtle..big enough to ride!? "Where did you see this turtle?" Because she wanted to see one, too. "And..who would want to ride a turtle? They are so slow!"

Now a giraffe on the other hand..Destiny wanted to ride one of them.

Not only did she, somehow, manage to get Carter to smile, she had gotten him to laugh. And although he was laughing a whole lot, it was much better than that mopey look that was on his face.

Destiny laughed a little with him, not as much, and she shook her head when he mentioned giving the love potion to a snake. "No, no. I don't think I would be able to handle one of my housemates rhyming words with Carter." She could think of a few words already, and yeah, Carter the Farter..that was way too much information.

Giving him a small smile, to let him know she was only kidding because she was really, REALLY done with giving out potions, she watched as he picked up the turtle, eyes widening a bit at what he said. A turtle..big enough to ride!? "Where did you see this turtle?" Because she wanted to see one, too. "And..who would want to ride a turtle? They are so slow!"

Now a giraffe on the other hand..Destiny wanted to ride one of them.

Carter forced a chuckle. He could only think of one word that rhymed with his name. And he did not want anyone skipping around singing that. "Besides. There's probably a lot better ways than a potion to go about that. Like... job interview form perhaps?" He had a mental image of Destiny with glasses and a muggle power suit asking girls what their top qualities were. He laughed again. Maybe he should just forgo everything when he was upset and head straight for Destiny? She seemed the only one capable of putting such humorous thoughts in his head.

"I saw it on vacation. It wasn't like a slow tortoise or anything. It was a sea turtle. Much faster. But I have seen a tortoise large enough to ride though at the zoo." You know, in case she was wondering about that.

He shrugged. "Some people like to swim with dolphins and I've wanted to ride a turtle. These are just things that happen in life." Meaning, he had no explanation really... other than the fact that it looked like wicked fun.

He picked up the turtle and looked it over. "Do you reckon this is a girl or boy turtle?" he asked. Because if it was a girl turtle he might just shrink it down and keep it as a pet. ~~And not name it Caroline. Because, even though it would comfort him to have a 'Caroline' in his life again. It would be a little weird.~~

And by that he of course meant that that was what he was planning on doing.

Wait..what!?

Was Carter suggesting what she THOUGHT he was suggesting? Did he really, really want her, of all people, to sit down and talk to potential girlfriends for him? That was a crazy idea. So crazy that Destiny found herself nodding her head. Although, all the girls Carter has dated so far were her friends. She would just have to pick out the person she disliked the most, that's all. "Would I get to sit at a desk?" That was most important.

Her eyebrows raised once more. He wasn't planning on riding one of those turtles at the zoo, was he? Did he not know how OLD they are there? Even sea turtles. They were OLD. She was tempted to make a face at him, but, seeing as he just had his heart ripped out of his chest ~~and since she knew what that felt like~~, she decided to be nice.

"Well, that turtle." She pointed to HER turtle, the one that he was now holding, "Is a boy." She was all for teaching him how to tell the difference, if he wanted to know. Glancing around the lagoon, Destiny spotted another turtle not so far off, and narrowing her eyes a little at it, she moved her finger and pointed. "That is a girl." She could tell from where she sat.

"Think we could 'Engorgio' them, then ride them?" They were young turtles, and if it made Carter happy..

Well. Certainly an interesting time to be 15 years old.

Damien felt tired; even more so than lately. Even though Treyen had set him up with a perfectly nice spot in the Hufflepuff Boys Dormitory, he still spent a lot of time in the Room of Requirement; still reading the same book he'd been reading all term. He'd taken as many notes as possible and tried to compare them to his own circumstances, but couldn't arrive at a logical conclusion.

And it made his head hurt.

Worse of all he hadn't really seen any of his friends; which also appeared to be wearing him down. The last time he saw Ness; the sweet innocent first year Hufflepuff was way before the first Quidditch match he'd seen. The one where he first saw Isobel play.

Isobel.

He hadn't seen her since their adventure up in the treehouse, which felt like an eternity ago. It was his own fault for shutting himself out, but would they all ask questions about where he'd been? Would he have to explain it to them, or could he simply get away with the white lies he'd been telling them all along?

And it's not like Damien was lying to all of them on purpose. He'd been trying to figure out his life since he started at Hogwarts in his fourth year; then when he had to take time off to go back home to Ireland due to ... circumstances beyond his control.

But surely they would all understand. They were the only group of friends he had ... at this point.

Theodore, his hands behind his back, paced back and forth across the slippery rocks near the water. This was madness, what he had just done. Moments ago, he had sent Bree off, a note attached to her shiny new collar, to hunt down Alfie and deliver a message. Under normal circumstances, the tabby would have refused and would have slunk away, ire in her heart at the notion of being treated like a common post owl. Instead, she had obliged, still high off of the happiness that was the new accessory around her furry neck. The words that Theo had recently scribbled down still crossed through his mind.

So much hidden meaning was behind his words; it unnerved him to no end. Wringing his hands behind his back, he nearly slipped on a wet rock and fell into the water. Getting his balance, he decided to sit down, knees pulled up to his chest and arms crossed on top, until either Bree or Alfie returned. Chewing on his lower lip with consternation, he waited.

He was glad everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves; though no one would see him go swimming. That would take some very hard convincing on Damien's part. It wasn't until she caught his eye that he noticed someone walking towards him. Damien watched curiously as she gathered her belongings, seemed to be slightly uncomfortable with the fact that they were mere feet from where he stood.

He glanced over as she addressed him and he nodded his head, "I am indeed," he said, Irish accent stronger than it normally was. He cleared his throat and ran his hand though his hair. He hated when the accent was so strong. Not that he wasn't proud of his heritage ... it's just ... he didn't know much about it. And it made him uncomfortable whenever he heard the accent more pronounced.

Like now.

"Seemed like you were having a good time over there," he added with a nod of his head in the direction of the lagoon.

Wait..... a.... second.... Destiny hadn't just considered his joke to be serious... had she? Well... judging by the next question she must have. "Err... would you like one?" he asked caught off guard by her taking it seriously. He could hardly imagine what Destiny would bring him to date. ~~And yes, he did say what.~~ Then again... it wasn't like he was doing a particularly great job of finding people on his own.

~~And... how bad a girlfriend could a chocolate frog make?~~

He turned the turtle over examing it. How could she tell? Ehh... maybe he didn't want to know. He just handed the boy turtle back to Destiny. He then got up, walked over to the girl turtle, picked it up, walked back over to Destiny, and then sat back down. He absentmindedly began to pet the girl turtle that he was not going to name Caroline and not going to shrink down to keep as a small turtle pet.

And by not... he of course meant that that was his plan.

He then blinked twice. That was the MOST brilliant idea he'd ever heard. He could have kissed Destiny because of how brilliant it was. But he'd already been there and done that. So he'd skip the kissing her part and go straight to telling her how brilliant she was.

"That is absolutely brilliant!" he exclaimed happily. "And then afterwards we can shrink them and keep them as pets."

He might as well let Destiny in on his brilliant plan since she shared hers. It was only fair.

Beth's face lit up when she heard his Irish accent. "You're Irish?" She asked instantly. "Me too!" She grinned, not having been acquainted with any other irish students yet. Her accent wasn't quite as strong in the same sense as his, it was slightly more subtle, though strong in a different way. "Fun?" She snorted. "Right. It's my fifteenth birthday, and I have a first year trying to set up a party, and I have just swam, despite the fact I swim like a squirrel." She said, hoping he would catch on that squirrels couldn't swim.
