What to Bring School broomsticks will be provided
Professor Vindictus had returned to Hogwarts early that morning after being away for the past two weeks on school and official Quidditch business. He felt guilty about being absent for such a long time but now that he was back, he was determined to make up for lost time.
Leaning against the broom rack, he waited for the students to arrive for the very first Flying lesson of the school term.
Aww. She looked really scared. Finlay wasn't that surprised to be honest. It was probably the first time that the girl had flown. He'd been a little afraid when he'd started flying, but he'd gotten used to it. Probably was a good idea, as he wanted to go pro. "Are you scared?" he asked with a soft smile. Maybe they could just flw low if she was scared. That would help right?
Ahh. She was doing it. That was good. "That's it." Finlay nodded, both hands back on his own broom. Oh. She didn't know how to turn. "Just kind of lean to the side you want to go..." It should make the broom turn. "Don't lean too far though, or you'll lose your balance." Which wouldn't be too good.
SCARED?If I'm scared? Yes!, she wanted to scream but finally replied :'No.', noticing that she didn't sound so convincing. After all, how would it help her to admit she was frightened.
The turn...right.Just lean, that doesn't sound so bad, she thought and was ready to try. She leaned to one side ( but actually that was more like a crash), and, following she almost ended up hanging upside down on the broom. Not really, but she did loose her balance. Great. That's just great Gwen, she thought.
Finally managing to find her balance, she turned around to him grinning. 'Just tried to..um..', she started explaining herself, but couldn't find anything smart to say. 'That wasn't soo bad, was it?', she asked.

Rosemary frowned, "You alright?" She asked, slightly worried.

Ella started lookng aobut for any Captains who could help her.
So she just talked out to the air, hoping somebody would hear. 'Erm.. is there anything we need to know for like.. emergencies?' Yep, Ella was a bit of a freak when it came to things like that..

Zara laughed along with Sarah. Then began to fly around again.
She suddenly decided if there were specific things she needed to learn so she approached one of the captains, or was that a head boy. Zara was too dizzy from flying to know. Either way she asked, "Erm, is there anything specific we need to know in flying? Something like stopping, zooming, pausing. Or any moves and tricks."
"Don't mention it--" she paused "--ever" she smiled widely at her friend. Wow, my friend! she thought happily and zoomed behind her towards the head boy.

"Well the same goes for you," Elle answered, gazing at the younger girl. She was indeed pretty, that Elle didn't even bother to say it anymore.
"You got a deal!" she laughed as she flew lower to level with Elle. Sarah thought for a moment. She knew to fly but she wasn't really used to teaching. But she recollected what her uncle told her during her first time. "Ok, you hold the broom firmly and lean forward--" she gripped her broom "--like this" she showed Elle as she told her. "With confidence and energy, lung forward" she said and move some inches forward.

Preparing herself, Brielle closed her eyes for a moment. Snapping them open, her brown eyes blazed as she leaned forward, more confident than she ever was. Her broomstick zoomed forward and her hair blew back, pulling the handle to a stop, she looked back in surprise to see Sarah a few feet behind her. "That actually felt great!" she shouted in glee.

"YOU!" bellowed Vindictus. "Just insulted that broom. It's no wonder that it's not following your ill-mannered command!"
He stared intently at her. "My instructions were to use a firm voice. At no time did I say to shout at the defenseless broom! Five points from Hufflepuff for insulting the broom. Now calm down and try it again . . . without shouting or using an angry voice."
Oh. He didn't, stupidvindictusdumboheadiwithnobrainandawfulhair. Grrrrrrrr. She glared at the floor *glarey glarey*, hmph. Plenty of people were shouting at their broom he was only targeting her because she'd flown into a wall in her second year and he just didn't like Hufflepuffs. He was worse than La Flame. WORSE. How that was possible she didn't know. Urgh. Stupid man.
Pfft. Jar head. It was just being dumb, her broom responded perfectly well to her, this school broom was just horrible, dumb and had no brain.
And she LOST points because it was being stupid she opened her mouth to complain but prompty shut it again. Stupid man she finished in her head, still glaring at the floor and the broom. She wasn't apologising. Nope. Because she had been victimised by a grumpy teacher. Stupid man.
Up she said to the broom her angry tone slipping out in a slight hiss.
Oh for gods sake...
Up! She commanded grumpily and firmly. Thank god, she sighed as it arrived in her hand

Wink.
"Before we start flying, I want all of you to know that the Quidditch Captains and Head Boy will be helping you today, so don't hesitate to ask for help from these veterans of the skies." That sounded good. Really, really good.
"Now to take off, all you must do is push off from the ground with your feet. Point your broom handle in the direction you wish to go. The rest is simply pure nerves and . . . broom magic! Sarah shook her head and then watched Elle try. She smiled intently. She had really done it very neatly. Sarah flew towards her. "Well done Elle! Cheers!" she smiled widely at her new friend. Zara smiled at Sarah and she flied towards where the head boy/professor/captain was. She tried to land on the ground safely. Ah, success.
"Hey Hayley!" she smiled. She nodded her head in response. "I'm used to flying at my Uncle's" she said with a glint of dreamy-ness in her eyes.
"Oh? You're a first year right?" Obviously... So Sarah must be a.. pureblood? ...or half?? Hayley then fly higher bit by bit, trying to get the hang of it...

"Yeah, maybe we should," she considered, suddenly excited by the idea. "Maybe you should go first, though." she said, hesitantly. She absolutely did not like leading the way. "Oh, and its the same mechanics, right? We just lean and trust the broom?"

Sarah thought for a moment. Like him? Chanceless! she thought. She messed her hair and then said, "Well not exactly. I'm, hm, er--" she was in a fit. She had never really thought about her career. Too early, maybe. She came to a conclusion. "--I'm more interested in Charms and DADA, more chances in that. Brooms, Quidditch, just fancy stuff" she said sighing.
Sarah nodded. "Ok then, let's go! And yah, the same" she said waving.
Hugo put his hand above his broom and said "Up," Thinking that it would be normal the broom would fly up immediatly, Hugo grasped into the air. Hm. Nothing. No wonder, he usually just got the broom manually. Blushing, he looked around if the Ravenclaw quidditch captain had seen he hadn't gotten it at his first try. That would be baaaad. Hugo repositioned himself and commanded firmly "UP!" The broom came off the ground, into Hugo's hand and he was happy.
After mounting his broom, he flew off into the air. He went quite fast, because he had been practising.

"That waas good for your first go!" Finlay nodded, flying over back near the girl. Yup. See he was such a good teacher. "Have another go?" And he'd be near just incase she did fall off. He could catch her and look like a great teacher.
"You're not that bad really. Whats your name?" Finlay asked, smiling at her. "I'm Finn." And I'm epic at fling clearly.

Sarah nodded. "Ok then, let's go! And yah, the same" she said waving.
"Well I think you should consider it still though, your already good this young, how much more years later?" she said thoughtfully.
"Here we go then," she said, leaning forward and concentrating like she had been told earlier. Her broom zoomed on again, continuously. She was just a few feet behind Sarah so she felt pretty safe. They were going straight for a moment, until the pitch required them to curve to the right. Brielle suddenly felt as nervous as she was earlier, and leaned anxiously to her right, she didn't lean enough though, and almost headed straight for a post. Luckily, she stopped the broom just in time and stayed in the air, panting slightly. "Whoa..." she exclaimed, her fingers trembling slightly.
Rosemary frowned, "You alright?" She asked, slightly worried.
"Hey, u- Oh, my goodness! Her face is so pale! Is she alright??" Janice followed Rosemary's gaze and instead found a girl with very a pale face holding for dear life onto her broomstick.
"Now to take off, all you must do is push off from the ground with your feet. Point your broom handle in the direction you wish to go. The rest is simply pure nerves and . . . broom magic! Ohhh theeeyyy were allowed to start flying now.Yeeees.This lesson was strating to get interesting. Finally the blonde could feel the weird tickling sensation when in the air again. She had seriously missed it wand couldnt wait.
Getting up from the ground she smiled widely as she could feel the air brushing through her hair and to her face."Woooohoooooo",the Slytherin screamed in happiness. What to do now, that seh was in the air?!
Grinning to herself the third year got her broom up and flew a few loopings.Oh yees that defintely was her fave thing to do when in the air. Her hair was all over her face and Fee giggled.

Penny was really annoyed when Vindictus had taken points off Amy for shouting... most of the students were shouting at their brooms - so unfair !! But Penny had mounted the broom just as the professor had asked... keeping both feet on the ground...and waited for the signal..
Then Vindictus clapped his hands, she kicked off softly from the ground - careful not to bang or knock into anyone on her way up...
"YIPPPEEE....I love flying !!!"
Oh this was the best feeling ever, free as a bird, flying high, wind in her long brown hair....

Daisy smirked a little. She didn't need help flying. She had been doing it practically all her life. She looked around and kicked off. However tempting it was to soar off and do tricks she flew carefully, and tried not to show off...

Isobel flew over to where Amy was. She hovered next to her. "Amy, are you alright?" She didn't sound alright. She sounded scared. But it looked like she was in control now. Still, Isobel stayed hovering there to see if she needed help.

Ella smiled slightly. 'Oh.. thanks.' Ella thought she was pretty average, looking at the others whizzing about. 'I've been playing almost all my life. Since I was 5 or 6.. with my brothers and Dad..' She smiled again and turned away. Narrowing her eyes she looked across the pitch. She thought she would she her brothers flying aorund somewhere.. well the triplets at least.
Sighing she turned back to the girl that had yelled. She still wasn't speaking.

Ella scowled, feeling a slight bump against her. Her broom jerked. Whirling around her nostrils flared. 'Hey could you watch it? I don't fancy falling off here-' She stopped seeing it was a first year, like her.
'Sorry.. I just got a shock. Almost wet myself actually...' She looked at the girl.
