Upon entering the Divination classroom, the scents of what seems like thousands of flowers assails the senses, and looking around, it seems like the classroom has been overtaken by a florist's shop. Even though the tables from the last lesson are still present, they're surrounded by containers of flowers, and several vases are scattered around as well. Obviously all these flowers had to be transported to Hogwarts from elsewhere, as the weather outside makes it highly unlikely they came from the grounds. Either way, it presents an oddly charming yet unsettling appearance to the classroom, something almost entirely different from the tensions that had been occurring outside, around the castle.
At the front of the classroom, leaning against her usual table, stands Professor Bishop, idly fidgeting with a long-stemmed white rose and looking a bit lost in thought, although she's actually aware of everyone who walks in. Either way, a message on the board states "Make yourselves comfortable, and class will begin shortly."
ooc: Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier, time got away from me and I wasn't able to get online earlier. :/ But feel free to post your entrance, etc., and I'll start the lesson in hopefully around twelve hours. ^.^ Keep the rules in mind regarding chatting, though.

But no, she would not do that. Josh had put her in too much of a bad mood to want to draw. Letting out a breath, Destiny placed Evelyn's book under her own, and only semi-listening to what her EX-best friend said, she nodded. It was probably better that Evelyn did tell her the flowers. She was sure Professor Bishop wouldn't want a whole paper interpreting dead flowers. Because that's what they had.
Pffft!
"I know exactly what lettuce means." Josh was cold-hearted, and she didn't even need a book to know that. "And unless balsamine is one of the flowers in that bouquet, I am not looking it up." Evelyn was just trying to work her even harder. It wasn't Destiny's fault she had a lettuce boyfriend who was in dire need of a wax myrtle. Whatever, back to the assignment.
Glancing at the flowers for a moment, wondering how Evelyn had the idea that any of them could have been a rose at one time, Destiny turned back to her textbook, and with her finger running down the page, she stopped at orange rose. "Desire or passion." Sweet Merlin, were all the flowers she picked going to mean that? "Did you pick that flower because he walked by?"
He being the lettuce.
It was strange to think Destiny knew what lettuce meant, mostly because Evelyn rarely saw her open her book, and if she did...than she rarely saw her pay attention to the class. Even when they weren't friends, the girl still seemed to surprise the hazel eyed Slytherin all the time.
Well, if she did look up balsamine, Evelyn so wished she had a handful of THEM so she could shove them into Destiny's face. THAT'S how impatient she was at the moment!
Leaning back in her seat, twirling the dead looking orange-ish rose in her hand, which pretty much was just the stem and a very few petals attached, Evelyn sighed quietly before glancing over to Destiny. "What if I did?" she asked, arching a brow. Hmm, what IF SHE DID!? What was she gunna do about that? Smirking at Destiny as she moved the petals closer so she could smell them, the Slytherin waited a moment before turning her gaze to the flowers on the table. "Look up daisies."

He had no idea what the meaning for the lettuce was but he knew something for sure and it was that HE WAS NOT A LETTUCE!
Hopefully his beloved seemed to know this fact. Smiling at her, he spotted the orange rose in her hand which, only Merlin knew why, made him raise and show her the pink rose he had in his hand.
And once the next flower was named off, Evelyn turned her attention to Josh. Her smirk definitely softened into a smile when she saw him holding a pink rose and he was showing it to her.
Hehe, what did a pink rose mean again?
It didn't matter. Even if she hated the color pink, she giggled quietly anyway before turning her attention back to the crazy girl and the dead flowers. Such a contrast between the two! She'd much rather be over where Josh was.

Whaaa? Had she just called him a LETTUCE?!! Pffffft! Destiny! Just pfffft. ''What kind of a meanie are you?'' he asked, now clearly frowning at the girl ''I just called you with a nice flower and you are calling me lettuce. Apparently i did a huge mistake and should have called you an aubergine instead.'' He was NOT a lettuce.
*deep frown*
Okay, so maybe calling Josh a lettuce was pretty mean. But Destiny was only paying him back for what he did to her. Throwing a sweaty shirt at her face, he deserved to be called more than a lettuce! But all that could wait. First of all, they were in the middle of class, and second of all, she was sitting awfully close to Evelyn. Merlin knows what she would do. Those flowers had thorns, after all.
Turning around to face the boy, and noticing the frown on his face, Destiny frowned as well. Now she felt bad. Giving him big, sad eyes, she turned back to Evelyn.
She was way too emotional for this class. And she was not an aubergine. Pfft.

Right.
She would just apologize to Josh later. They did have an assignment to finish, and she wanted to hurry up and finish it so she could get as far away from Evelyn as possible. The girl was being awfully bossy considering she had the easy job of just naming off the flowers. Destiny had to, not only look up the meanings, but she had to write them down as well. She really needed to invest in some more quick-quote quills. They would make classes easier!
Heaving a sigh at Evelyn's question, because there really was no answer to it, Destiny watched as she twirled the rose in her hand. It was almost hypnotizing. She was going to fall asleep..again.
But that passed quickly as she spoke again, and she couldn't help but scoff. She was being bossy again. Mumbling something that sounded like 'You look up daises', Destiny scanned through her text until she found it. And she wished she hadn't.

She couldn't really make out what the other flowers were, no matter how long she stared at them. Yet she tried anyway, as Destiny looked up what the daisy meant.
Pulling one of the really dead ones towards her, having barely a few petals on it, but it DID contain one flower that apparently survived, the Slytherin girl glanced over to Destiny when she spoke out what the daisy meant. Hmm, she honestly didn't know that's what the daisy meant. Whatever though. She liked the rose much better. It was prettier too.
However, she also noticed just one more thing. Was Destiny starting to be all mopey? Well now, Evelyn didn't like this partner arrangement either, but she didn't have to be all mopey about it! That just annoyed the darker haired Slytherin girl. "Last one. Look up orchids too." she said after her EX-best friend spoke. This flower looked like it was an orchid at one time, and there was no way she could figure out what the rest were. "Are you writing these down?"

Next time!
Next time, Destiny was going to work all on her own. That way she could take her time, which was always a plus in her opinion, and she would have been able to be as mopey as she wanted to be without receiving those looks from Evelyn. Or, she would probably still get them, but they would be those looks from across the room. They could easily be ignored.
Sniffling to herself, Destiny gave her nose a quick wipe with the back of her sleeve before looking up orchids. She had absolutely no idea how her EX-best friend decided that was the flower, but she was not going to argue. She just wanted to finish the assignment. Without any more love interpretations.
"Orchids. They mean refined beauty." That was it? That one was rather boring. Closing her text book, because they had FINISHED..Destiny opened it right back up hearing Evelyn's question. Pffft, she forgot that part.
"Of course I am writing them down.."Now.

As the students had started organizing themselves into pairs, or choosing to work alone, Renée had chosen to go back to the rose she'd been playing with at the beginning of class and conjured a small crystal vase to put it in before subtly returning her atttention to what was going on around her. Unsurprisingly, Kurumi and Selina had paired up and seemed to be doing perfectly fine, along with several others who were going it alone. That made her fell better, knowing that at least some of her students knew what they were doing. But then, there was Simon. Glancing at him shortly after the Hufflepuff had spoken, she was saved from having to walk him through as both Eino and Penny had stepped in, the Ravenclaw boy even choosing to work with Simon. For which she'd silently mouthed "Thank you", before her attention was drawn away by Evelyn, Destiny and Josh. That was yet another interesting situation, but she still held back to see if they could figure things out without destroying too many flowers.
The bantering about flowers in general betwen those three surprised her, even though Josh had been the one to answer her earlier challenge. Either they'd been hiding knowledge, or something. Either way, as it seemed people were finishing early, she stood up, smiling at Kurumi as the Gryffindor had spoken and giving her a slight nod before speaking to the class as a whole. "Okay. Those of you who are still working can finish up, and those who think they've finished are welcome to turn in their parchments. Once everyone seems to be done, we can discuss your ideas a little." Also known as her telling them if they'd guessed right or not, but in a nice way. And another route of helping them understand the subject. "I think we'll wrap things up soon, as well." They probably were ready to leave anyhow, at least some of them.

Simon looked at Eino and smiled. "Well the whole Bouquet could mean something like a bunch of flowers: any girls will fall in love with you." Simon had no idea but he thought he would at least give it a try. "What do you think?"
Eino raised an eyebrow. "That sounds..." He looked back at his parchment. "Accurate?" It actually was accurate. Considering that all of the flowers had a meaning related to love, Simon's interpretation of the entire bouquet seemed to work. Now, if only they could identify the last flower. Eino opened his book and flipped trough the pages as he tried to find a match. He didn't want to use the textbook, not only because it was very heavy and had endless pages, but because he wanted the feeling of being able to identify the flowers without help. Well, he wasn't perfect, in fact he was lucky he knew two of them, and Simon was already helping him and that didn't feel bad, so why not. "Oooh!" Eino exclaimed as he pointed at the page. "I think I've found it! It's lisianthus! The bud-looking ones are also lisianthus!" He then looked for the meaning and wrote it down on his parchment. "I think this is almost done..." He said as he added a final period.

Savannah decided to do two more flower meanings before turning in her paper. She smiled as she saw two more different colors of roses. Pink roses at bouquet three and yellow roses at bouquet four. Heehee...that means she doesn't have to use a flower dictionary! She flipped her textbook back to Rose. Haha...more meanings!
The roses at bouquet three are pink...which means grace. And the roses at bouquet four are yellow...which means...WHOA! Savannah's eyes popped right out when she saw that so many meanings could contain in such small flowers. Savannah hoped that whatever happens, she will NOT get a yellow rose from ANYONE or ANYTHING!

Flowers
Orange rose; While the red rose symbolizes passion and the yellow rose, friendship and happiness, the orange rose symbolizes something between the two. It could indicate a desire to move a friendship into a more romantic relationship.
Pink-purple calla; Symbol of grace and gentility, innocence and happiness.
Orange gerbera; Again, a mixture between yellow and red. Orange gerberas symbolize warmth, fascination and creativity.
Hufflepuff where they are just and loyal they are patient, true and unafraid of toil
Penny had selected the second bouquet .... and wasn't exactly sure of her guesses, but supposed she should hand up her parchment anyway..

Staring at the dead orchid, she waited a moment before tossing it back to the table and picking up the dead rose instead. Meh. Was there any way to fix that? Somehow..put the petals back into it...
But, finally, Destiny named what the orchid meant. And then...they were done. Good.
"You done?" she asked, leaning forward to look at the parchment. Yup, it looked done to her. GOOD. Grabbing her book from under Destiny's book, she put it on her OWN table before pushing her chair away, and then...pulling her table away from Destiny's. That's RIGHT! They were done, so they didn't have to be partners anymore, or even sit close to one another. She liked her window seat anyhow.
Once that was done, she went BACK to Destiny's table, and took the parchment. Well, Destiny didn't seem like she was going to go up and give the Professor all Evelyn's their hard work, so Evelyn might as well do that then.

See, even Bishop said they HAD to turn in their parchments. Not so much in those exact words, and it sounded like it was optional, but Evelyn knew that's what she meant. She just wanted to make it confusing for Destiny, right?
Totally.

What? Evan did not the like adjective romantic? Eh...if that was the case, he was just lucky that Mina was not around. ''Yea, i suppose you are since i haven't talked to the chair under you. Or did i?'' Maybe the chair was called Cartwright as well, how could he know that? It did not speak so it did not deny it either.
Eh...apparently Evan did not want to waste time with chatting with him or the Cartwright chair...well...that was fine with Josh. Business was business and it needed to be done. ''All right.'' So he said picking up one of large orange ones and eyeing it close. ''Hmmm...that might be...'' But then he turned back to face the blond Slytherin boy when he spilled out the species for all the flowers they seemed to have. Did he really know them for sure or was he simply guessing just like the Gryffindor previously had done with the moonflower?
Looking at the bouquet and picking up one from the each species, he began examining them again. ''I think...yea...i do agree with the lily and the rose but daisy...'' dropping the huge orange flower and the pink rose, he held the other pink one close. Eh...pink...not his favourite at all. But whatever.
Not to mention he couldn't think of another flower species to call this one so ''...okay. Let's go with the daisy. Guess Professor Bishop will tell us if we are wrong anyway. Now...'' he eyed the parchment, quill and books on his desk. ''Do you want me to write down the meanings since you did the hard part?'' Of course, right after finding them. He was not going to make up any meanings for any flower.
Evan couldn't even roll his eyes at Josh's silly question. The boy was sometimes silly, but he had a different sense of humour that amused Evan now, but he was afraid to open his mouth much in case he threw up on Josh. Thus, he only smiled at the boy, it was a little painful smile. His stomach and nose certainly weren't enjoying themselves.
"Yes, uh... okay." With an effort he flipped through the pages of his textbook, and read out loud: "Daisy... general..." That colour wasn't red, right? "It means innocence, purity, cheer, faith."" He looked at Josh to see if he was writing it down. "Lily... white... means purity. But that isn't white. I don't know." Shrug. As long as the professor saw them putting in some effort, they'd still get points, no? Yes. "And, uh... red or pink rose?" That was pink, right? Right. "It means grace." He looked at him to see if he had anything else to add. If not, they were done, and he was off to sleeping.
Presley looked to William. "We're done, right? We only had to identify two flowers, and we've done three? Plus I think forget-me-nots can also mean remembrance" She did recall that from somewhere, and added it to her notes. Pres looked down at thier parchment. It looked pretty good.

Looking over her shoulder towards Selina, Kurumi winked slightly and felt a bit relieved that Selina hadn't gone into her fragile state this lesson. Not that Kurumi saw anything wrong with it, she was far more concerned for Selina feeling embarrassed and not wanting others to see her with glazed over eyes. Perhaps today nothing had happened since they were not really trying to look into the future, but were more examining the language of flowers? Kurumi couldn't help but find the connection interesting. Usually, about 30 minutes into a lesson, Selina would go into a world that Kurumi couldn't hear - usually somewhere around the beginning of their practical portion. Today, nothing, and they had finished everything without Kurumi having to flail around a bit and use some quick thinking to cover up Selina having a vision.
She then turned her attention forwards again and set her parchment on desk in front of Professor Bishop. "Selina and mine's," she said, in case Professor Bishop hadn't seen them working together or something.
SPOILER!!: parchment
Divination - Floromancyin class assignment Kurumi Hollingberry // third year & Selina Skylar // second year
Gryffindor
Matsumoto Asters - symbolize of love, daintiness, talisman of love
Monte Casino Asters - "I am not sure whether you are being faithful or not"
Freesia - symbolize innocence and friendship
Misty Blue - "I die if neglected"
Bouquet Interpretation Romantically - the giver of the bouquet feels nothing but love or admiration for the person they are giving the flowers to. To them, the receiver is their one and only. However, there is a faint glimmer of doubt that their feelings are not reciprocated and the fear of that rejection makes the giver feel as though they may die. This bouquet then, while it communicates love, also requires an answer from the receiver as to whether or not their feelings are true.
Platonic - the two people who share this bouquet, perhaps as a birthday gift, feel that they have a very strong connection and that they are fiercly loyal friends that not only feel incomplete without the other, but that their personalities compliment one another. However, once again their is doubt as either or both parties are keeping something from the other, implying that perhaps their is a secret that they wish to share, but feel they cannot. However, since hope and courage are listed as one of the traits of the iris, there is implication that one day the two will be comfortable enough to share everything with one another.
Kurumi then returned to her seat next to Selina and folded her hands together on her desk while she waited for the discussion to begin.

Oh, ...good. They could turn in their parchments now! Did that mean class was over?! Were they free to go?! She glanced up at the professor expectantly, waiting to hear those magical words that meant she could pack up and leave. Of course those words never came, and of course they had to discuss the flowers now--was Divination ever easy?! No. No, it wasn't.
Again, what else could she expect from a class based on make-believe magic? She put her quill back down and then stood from her seat, bee-lining her way to the professor to turn in her parchment. Once she'd done so, she returned to her seat and waited for the discussion...blahh...to begin.
Flower One
The flowers at the very top of the arrangement are coral-colored roses. Roses of this color mean desire or passion. The roses are also in full bloom, which stands for gratitude.
Flower Two
The pink-colored flowers toward the right of the arrangement are Pink Calla Lillies. These flowers stand for magnificent beauty and are also given on a person's sixth wedding anniversary.
Flower Three
The orange-colored flowers at the bottom of the arrangement are called Orange Gerbera Daisies. They stand for innocence, purity, and cheerfulness.
Flower 4
Lisianthus (Purple): Deep, heartfelt, romantic desire or charisma and congeniality.
Simon looked at Eino and smiled. "I think that this is perfect." Simon smiled. "Is there anything you want me too do." Okay so he might be bad at Divinations but he had to at least try and help.

As the students started bringing their work up to hand in, Renée glanced over each parchment before stacking it neatly on the table near the vase she'd conjured for her rose. It seemed like everyone had a fairly good sense of what they were doing during the lesson, so perhaps she could make things quick. At least, she had a feeling there were a few who might like that, given the various students who had shown reluctance to deal with this many flowers in one place at once, not to mention those who just always seemed to show reluctance to believe in Divination. Either way, she didn't see much reason to draw things out if she didn't have to.
"Okay. It seems like most of you have the basic idea behind at least reading floriography, if not necessarily accurately identifying the flowers used," she said, trying to get everyone's attention again. At least she knew the assignment she had in mind for their homework should be easier, since her stores of flowers were labeled. A few of them hadn't quite gotten the correct types of flowers in the practical, but at least they'd gotten the ideas of the meanings down. "So I think too much discussion is unnecessary, although you're welcome to ask more questions if you have them." She figured she could let them go if they wanted, however. She hoped they enjoyed the homework assignment. "Your homework assignment should be rather easy, given what you've covered already. Basically, all I'm going to make you do is create your own bouquet, keeping the flowers' meanings in mind, and give it to someone," she replied with a smile. "Not me. But I'll expect some sort of description of the bouquet, at least." She'd still be able to figure out what happened, assuming the recipient knew to consider floriography. "I'll keep the classroom open for a while so you can take advantage of the stores I collected for you all to use, but in general, you're free to go." And she took a seat again, to at least be comfortable until everyone went off on their own.
ooc: Okay. Class is over, and I'll post an official homework assignment by tomorrow at the latest. The basics are covered in this post, however. Just keep an eye out for the specifics. (So maybe hold back on doing the assignment til I get it posted.

Awww they had to make a bouquet? How sweeeeet! But... give it to someone? Someone... who? And... the rule was that boys give flowers, so to whom was Helena supposed to give her flowers? Maybe to professor Lafay. If she was lucky, maybe the woman could get nicer. Or maybe not.
Anyway, Helena felt kind of sad to leave this heaven of flowers, but she packed her stuff and stood up, then walked towards the door. "Goodbye, professor," she smiled, then left the classroom.

Penny smiled, she loved flowers and had known for a while that they held meanings..... Now she was going to make her own bouquet to give to someone - who though ?!?!
Putting her stuff back in her bag, carrying her textbook in her left arm - got up to leave the room, "Bye Professor, thanks for the lesson - very interesting" with a smile..

Whaaa?!
They were actually being let out without having to suffer through a discussion?! Sierra wasn't sure how or why they'd gotten so lucky, but she definitely wasn't going to stick around to question things. She didn't even really listen to what the homework assignment was. She just figured she'd catch it later posted on the common room's bulletin board anyway.
She quickly stuffed her things into the bag and then slid out her desk. With a parting glance toward the professor, she headed for the door and then out the classroom.

Nika listened to professor Bishop and although she was a bit disappointed that class was already over she remained smiling. Something about Hogwarts itself had her enthusiastic and smiley all of the time. She looked around the classroom and then back at her book to search for a few flower meanings. She knew who she was going to give the flowers to and why. Samira deserved an apology flower bouquet. Nika shivered just thinking about new year's time when she hid behind the corner and listened in on her and Levi. Then she sneezed right when they were going to kiss and ahhh! She ruined their moment and she hadn't even gone to Samira to apologize.
She already made her apology to Levi even though it was rather forced out of her and she only did it because he brought it up. Nika just wanted to be friends again and Samira had known it was her because she saw the signature hair. Why didn't Nika just keep it brown like she had it last term!?! Stupid, stupid, stupid. She looked at her book and searched for any apology flowers. Once her eyes landed on the word "apology" she ripped a corner of a spare parchment and put it in the book to mark the page.
"Thank you professor for the wonderful lesson!" She looked around the classroom in order to pick out a few flowers that she would need for her apology bouquet.
