Upon entering the Divination classroom, the scents of what seems like thousands of flowers assails the senses, and looking around, it seems like the classroom has been overtaken by a florist's shop. Even though the tables from the last lesson are still present, they're surrounded by containers of flowers, and several vases are scattered around as well. Obviously all these flowers had to be transported to Hogwarts from elsewhere, as the weather outside makes it highly unlikely they came from the grounds. Either way, it presents an oddly charming yet unsettling appearance to the classroom, something almost entirely different from the tensions that had been occurring outside, around the castle.
At the front of the classroom, leaning against her usual table, stands Professor Bishop, idly fidgeting with a long-stemmed white rose and looking a bit lost in thought, although she's actually aware of everyone who walks in. Either way, a message on the board states "Make yourselves comfortable, and class will begin shortly."
ooc: Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier, time got away from me and I wasn't able to get online earlier. :/ But feel free to post your entrance, etc., and I'll start the lesson in hopefully around twelve hours. ^.^ Keep the rules in mind regarding chatting, though.

Well....
Huh? He actually got the name of the flower right? Hehehehehe. Awesome. He had to thank his mother and uncle for forcing him to be involed with flowers from time to time though. But there was one point that Professor Bishop had there; he had not completely answered the question.
Yeaaa, the was the meaning part, yes. To be honest he did not know the direct and open meaning for this flower yet if morning glory, which looked like the sister of it who blossomed in the morning in contrast to moonflower sister who was nocturnal, meant love or undying love or stuff like that, Josh believed he could guess the meaning of the moonflower basing it on that.
Moon - Night - Sleep - Dream...
''What about, professor, it meaning 'I dream of love' or 'I dream of love with you' Or stuff like that'' he shrugged.
Perhaps...

Err...Samira had no clue. She was about to say "Morning Glory", like everybody else, but that wasn't right. Neither was Moon-whatever. Or something like that. Sitting back, Samira twirled a strand of hair around her finger as she waited for the correct answer.

Hmmm, well Josh answered only part, Riley might aswell try and get the other point. It would be for Gryffindor in the end but not Josh's if he got it right MWAHAHA Now what could he say that was different from the other Gryffindor boy's answer.
"Professor, could the Moon flower's meaning have anything to do with sleep or concentration?" he thought he had read somewhere in one of his herbology books at home that they were believed to have some sort of helping powers in Divination readings.

Deciding to try again..Penny put her hand in the air..."Professor I think it symbolises love and affection.. but departure too...and should be planted when there is a new moon"
Wiliam raised his hand. " In medical terms, Moon FLower connates a poisinous flower" William said to the professor. " I think the first anser about love is correct" William said to the professor.
MoonFlower, huh? Janice thought. Never heard of that.
But, after thinking for quite a long time, she raised her hand and answered.
"Professor, I don't know about MoonFlower, but I've heard of Moonlace Flower. According to Greek Mythology, it is said to be grown by Calypso, in the times when she is imprisoned in the island. Heroes, from time will 'visit' her, and sometimes she will give one flower to the hero. So, maybe, it represents departure??"
A moonflower, hmm? Interesting....Ariella wasn't familiar with them. She thought for a few minutes. She didn't really know the story behind the moonflower. Letting her eyes wander over the other flowers, her mind drifted. Oh well...someone else was obviously going to get the points. She listened as the rest of the class gave their answers.
Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict
Renée leaned back against her table as it seemed people either wanted to try desperately to get the point for the other half of the answer, or were just content to sit back and let everyone else do the work. She hadn't missed Evelyn's reaction to Josh getting the other half af the answer, after all, even though the Slytherin girl looked to be struggling to stay awake like every lesson. It was rather amusing, insofar as she always wondered why the girl continued to attend if the subject was that boring to her. That was neither here nor there, though, and she wondered what was going to happen now, that the answer she'd been going for seemed to have almost stumbled out of the same lion as before. Interesting. "I'm assuming that was somewhat of a guess, but somehow you've managed to get both points, Josh," she said with a smile. "Generally the moonflower represents dreaming of love, although it can also be said to simply represent nightor instability," she continued, addressing the class as a whole.
But for now she was just going to let them see what they could do on their own, ending the discussion portion of the lesson before it turned into simply a question-and-answer session. "I think we've covered enough that you can try to interpret some meanings on your own," she added, moving some vases around as she started moving around the classroom yet again. "I'm not going to have you look around every flower in the room, however. Those are for later. For now, I just want you to pick from one of these six bouquets, and try to identify and give the meanings of at least two flowers from that one bouquet, from your textbooks if you need assistance with the latter part. Obviously you can choose to work in a group, or on your own, as there aren't enough for everyone to have their own bouquet, but I think you can still manage to work together." Well, there were probably enough flowers in the room for each of them to have their own bouquet, but that would make it harder to control for now. So they'd have to deal with a limited number. "Write your answers down, and you can give them to me at the end of class," she went on, in case they needed clarification. Either way, she'd still be in the classsroom to help if need be, but hopefully she wouldn't have to give them the answers.
I'm going to be away most of the day tomorrow, but I'll check on you guys when I can. ^.^ Most of the activity description is in my post up there. (pick a bouquet, try to identify at least two flowers in it and give the possible meanings for the flowers, with a written portion to be turned in as part of the RP once complete) And have fun!

Nika looked around the classroom for a familiar face to partner up with. She generally worked with Samira in divination so she looked specifically for the slytherin. She wanted to start the assignment quickly because it looked like fun!

Samira didn't even bother looking around for a parter. She hoisted herself out of her seat and plopped herself next to Nika. "Hey, partner."

Hello, Daddy! Hello, Mom! I'm your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Lucas looked around the classroom quickly to see if there was anyone he knew. He saw a couple of people, but he thought that he would prefer working alone... Though if anyone really wanted to partner with him, he wouldn't say no.
The second bouquet had the most familiar-ish flowers of the bunch, so he decided to go with that one. Thank goodness his mum had a garden, right? He would have never known anything about flowers if it wasn't for her (not that he knew much, anyway). Hmm. It looked like there were some pink roses; those were easy to identify. And was that... Well, it looked like a lily of some sort, he thought. But were they usually that color? He flipped through the textbook to see if it gave any clues.
Okay, it looked like it was just a pink lily. Alright. Then there were two different purple kinds. He didn't know what those were. Well, he was only required to do two, anyway, but he was still going to try to figure the others out. He may as well look up the meanings to the ones he already knew, though. The entry for roses had options for "pink," "light pink," and "dark pink," and Lucas didn't know which was which, so he just wrote them all down. It couldn't hurt, could it?

Hmm. There was no entry for pink lily specifically. He wondered if that mattered. Now what were those two purple kinds?
Partners? No. Presley didn't really like working with partners because in her experience that equaled: Presley does the work of two people while parter just sits and chats. It was ridiculous. She glanced around the room. Who did she know that was most likely to do thier share of the work?

Selina listened to Bishop's directions and looked around the room for Kurumi. Once she found her, sitting in the front as usual, she made her way to the front of the room and plopped down beside her, "Hey there stranger."
Her eyes caught all six flower arrangements and then she looked back at Kurumi, "You, um, wanna work together on the flower thing?" She gestured toward the flowers and smiled. She hoped she said yes, Selina was not one for working alone in Divination for obvious reasons.

Kurumi knew Selina was going to ask to work together before the second year had even opened her mouth. She would like to pretend that she had inherited some of her friend's talent, but Kurumi knew it was more along the lines of understanding her friend.
"Of course," she chirped as she jumped to her feet and went to grab one of the bouquets and flopped back into her seat. Kurumi had been eyeing this particular bouquet ever since Professor Bishop had set them out on the table. The various shades of purple reminded her of her own eye color - something she was finally beginning to not be ashamed of. "Okay, so in this bouquet we have irises, freesia, matsumoto asters," Kurumi began as she turned the bouquet around in her hands. "I do believe that this is monte casino asters and that misty blue." She looked up at Selina and set the bouquet down on the table. "Mother made me study flower arranging." As if that was an excuse.
Kurumi took out a fresh piece of parchment and began to write.

Selina watched as Kurumi ran to the front of the room and back with a bouquet of flowers. She had seen that Kurumi had been eyeing that specific arrangement since they had entered the classroom. With her eyes cast down at the table Selina smiled to herself. Her friend was defiantly a lion on a mission in every class that she attended. Once Kurumi returned to the table it was like rapid fire. She listed every flower with ease in the arrangement and smiled at Selina when she was done. Then she listed it all in her perfect parchment format and was done within seconds. Selina barely had time to process anything before Kurumi was truly ready to begin.
"Okay then... I believe you. Just out of curiosity, is there anything else you can do? I don't know like a trapeze artist or something? You know what? Don't answer that," Selina joked.
Then she pulled herself up from her seat and ran to her original seat to grab her bag full of supplies. When she returned she pulled out her Divination book and started to flip through the pages until she reached the flowermancy section. She flipped for the first flower, Iris, and read, "Okay it says here that they symbolize faith, hope, wisdom, courage, and admiration. It's like the Gryffindor house's perfect flower Kurumi. It stands for everything we do."

This was one of the days when Ari didn't feel like doing teamwork, wanting to be alone, so she decided to work on her own. Of course, that had a major disadvantage, since the girl's knowledge about flowers was very limited. Therefore, she chose the second bouquet, since the rose was one of the very few flowers she could recognize, along with the lily. Checking her textbook, she started writing down the meanings of those flowers. But those purple ones-were they roses too? And the other ones, did they count as light-pink or dark-pink? For Ariadne, they were just plain pink. Shrugging, the little Gryffindor put down what she thought best.

Light pink: desire, passion, joy of life, youth, energy, perfect happiness

"Eat raw squid and octopus," Kurumi said clearly not noticing Selina's somewhat sarcastic tone. "Something about the texture of it that just makes me feel sick and unable to keep it down." She looked up at Selina and was suddenly hit with a wave of anxiety that sent her the message of that was not exactly the answer that Selina was looking for. Never had learned.
Still in a very task oriented mentality, Kurumi returned to her parchment and jotted down what Selina had just said along with adding a few more details about some of the other flowers. Selina chuckled and shook her head whilst still going back to her book as Kurumi went on about Octopus. It was always amusing to Selina how her best friend could just spew random facts out like one of her grandfather's sitcoms that he watched on his Muggle tele. She really was one of the funniest people she knew. But Kurumi's charm came from the innocence of her humor. She never really did ever intend to be hysterical, she just was, "Right, well that is an important skill I guess. Don't worry though, I'll sure you'll master eating it eventually. And what's a bike?" She grew up in the Wizarding World. Was bike a type of broom? She'd never heard of it.
She then looked back in the book for the meaning of a Freesia flower. "Okay the droopy flowers stand for innocence and friendship," Selina chuckled, "That's ironic."
Ariella scanned the room. Hmm...looked like she was partner-less again. Oh well. She preferred solitary work, anyway. She picked up Bouquet 3, studying the gorgeous flowers in it. Also, she took out her textbook.
SPOILER!!: Ariella's Parchment
Bouquet 3 Lily -Purity, Wealth, Pride
Some lilies, such as orange lilies, can symbolize hatred.
Rose - Love, Innoncence, Friendship, Unity
Some roses, like black roses, can symbolize death.

Kurumi wrinkled her nose. She didn't really want to become able to eat squid and octopus. It wasn't the more delicious forms of sushi. She'd much rather eat some salmon or tuna instead. Perhaps even a scallop here and there.
But, now was not the time to think about food. There were flowers to talk about.
"Um...I'll have one of my brothers show you a bicycle when you come to my home," Kurumi said deciding to save explaining the non-magical form of transportation for another time. She added Selina's information to the parchment before double checking that she had the meaning right for the last flower. "Misty blues can symbolize the thought I die if neglected," she said furrowing her brow a bit. That...didn't sound too happy.
However, in the next instant Kurumi was giggling so hard that she was becoming short of breath. "S-S-Selina," she half snorted as she passed the parchment towards her. "Th-This bouquet seems to be kind of representative of our friendship, don't you think?"

However, in the next instant Kurumi was giggling so hard that she was becoming short of breath. "S-S-Selina," she half snorted as she passed the parchment towards her. "Th-This bouquet seems to be kind of representative of our friendship, don't you think?"
SPOILER!!: parchment

Bouquet Interpretation
Selina almost had a heart attack when Kurumi panicked. As soon as her heart pace slowed she started to listen to Kurumi speaking about the meaning of the entire bouquet. For a moment she was completely on board with Kurumi until she looked down at all the meanings of the flowers. They all fit minus the Monte Casino Asters. They weren't exactly in a relationship that would require faithfulness.

Unless she had misinterpretted their entire relationship. That wasn't how Selina exactly saw their friendship, but she wouldn't judge Kurumi for her choice if that was what she chose.
But then she remembered Treyen and realized that Kurumi wasn't thinking that way at all. Selina could hear how loud her sigh of relief was. Thank Merlin! That would have made their friendship really awkward, "Wait Kurumi. This all works, but what about the Monte Casino Asters? How does that fit?"
Partners? No. Presley didn't really like working with partners because in her experience that equaled: Presley does the work of two people while parter just sits and chats. It was ridiculous. She glanced around the room. Who did she know that was most likely to do thier share of the work?
" Will you partner with mr, please? Willaim asked Presley. I can take one bouquet and answer it like now" William told Presley. ,Then you take number 2 and so on and so on, ok?" Willaim asked Presley " The first one I have is Juniper, it means protection and the villagers still believe today that the perfume purifies air plus they believe it drives evil spirits from his humble cot" Wiliam explained to Presley and the professor.

"Okay," Presley agreed easily. Thank Godric William was a good worker. Presley took a closer look at the bouquets. "In the third bouquet there are orange asiatic lilies," she commented. "Which mean which means wealth or disdain I think." Presley wrote that down on her parchement.
SPOILER!!: Presley's parchment
Presley Black
William M
Bouquet 1-Juniper
Protection
Bouquet 3-Orange Asiatic Lilies
Wealth, disdain
She wrote down William's comment as well, and stuck her name at the top along with Williams, only adding his last initial. She was sure to spell his name wrong, and didn't want to have to undo it.

Kurumi jumped in her seat when Selina had suddenly sighed rather loudly. Cocking her head to the side like an owlet, Kurumi set her quill down and decided that whatever Selina had been asking probably wasn't something she really wanted to know.
"That is just a possible meaning for the asters," she clarified. "I think the meaning can change depending on the flowers in the arrangement. Since everything else in in a positive light, I think we can assume that uncertainity meaning isn't applied her." She paused and looked at Selina. "Unless you want it to. Which would take on an entirely different meaning for the bouquet. Since all the other flowers are implying that the giver sees the receiver as their one and only, it could imply that they are unsure if their feelings are reciprocated." Kurumi chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. "If we are using us as an example, then it just shows that you are unfaithful to my cookies and have been sneaking a midnight snack in the kitchens."
