Upon entering the Divination classroom, it seems the decor has been changed back to the way it had been set up for the tasseomancy lesson the previous term, or at least similar. Instead of desks, there are quite a few small round wooden tables arranged around the classroom, still leaving room between to walk, even if the chairs are pulled out. Four chairs sit around each table, but other than that there is nothing much to show what the topic that is going to be discussed is. Even the bookshelves along the wall are covered by a drape of colorful fabric, which at least lends some excitement to the room, and is made even brighter by the sunlight streaming in from open windows.
The only curious thing in the room would probably be the crystal ball close by Professor Bishop's elbow, seemingly ignored by her as she is idly focused on the Tarot cards she has arranged on the table in front of her. Is that part of the lesson, or just decoration?
ooc: The lesson will start no later than at some time midday tomorrow (PST), but feel free to post yourselves entering, etc. Curiosity is entirely welcome, as to what Professor Bishop is doing or anything else, but try not to involve yourselves in too much chatting amongst yourselves. I'll be checking in again later tonight, to reply if necessary.
Still half-focused on the situation with Selina, Renée turned slightly as she heard another voice asking for her help and sent a smile to Zara. That truly did seem to be a bit of a dilemma, if the image wasn’t clarifying itself to the young Gryffindor. Stepping slightly over to the girl’s table, she glanced down at the oil floating in the bowl and tilted her head slightly as she considered things. The little blob was definitely vaguely rectangular, but beyond that it seemed to be resisting clarification. “Hmm,” she replied. “It’s not a table, but beyond that I can’t say what it is or isn’t. Did you have any other symbols, which might clarify things?” Obviously, she’d been looking for a while before calling her over, so there was the possibility she wasn’t getting all the information. She was still a bit distracted, but she was managing to keep most of her focus on Zara’s dilemma.
Returning her attention mostly to Zara, although she’d sent nods toward both Eino and William as they spoke to her again, she waited for a few moments more before raising her head to include the whole class in her next statements. “Okay, everyone. Let’s keep trying for a few more minutes, and then call it a day,” she said. There were still several students who looked to be continuing their readings, at least, and she figured there was enough time to hopefully let them finish up. Not to mention the mystery of Zara’s rectangle, which she was still hoping they could solve before the lesson was over. She could only drag it on so long before they’d need to be off to the next lesson, after all.[/COLOR]
ooc: I think I'm going to try and wrap things up later today. ^.^ Since other lessons are going now too.
Other symbols? Yes, a lot. "Erm, wait. There's the uh," she said looking down at her parchment. "Well, first I got circles which mean success and completion. But I guess everyone else got that too in the start. Then it turned into eggs." Zara continued as she read her parchment.
"Eggs are a good omen. It means creation, new beginnings, sacred geometry and all those." Still reading on, "And then it stretched into wavy line." She said, beginning to pout. This one she didn't like. "Means uncertain path," Zara had said softly.
Well she had to continue. It is a good thing that the line changed. She didn't want to have an uncertain path. "And now it's this...rectangle." She finished, looking at Professor Bishop. Okay, table was out of the choices. Now there was..a door, an envelope, a book. Zara hoped there wasn't any other rectangular stuff in the symbol or else she wouldn't be able to finish at all. And class was almost ending. *pout*

Her mouth let out a sigh of relief, she didn't have to explain anything to anyone in the class. Not like they had noticed that she had gone under. Kurumi always did an excellent job of concealing her when she went into one of her visions.
Finally calm she looked up at Kurumi and said, "Thanks, you know me. I'm only coordinated when I'm flying." Her voice hitched a few times when she spoke, but she needed to stay strong. She had to or else she was sure to have a mental break down.
Then Kurumi whispered something to Selina and Selina shook her head that now hung low. "No... I'm fine. I, um, swear. I just... need to make it through the class. Then we can talk." She looked at Professor Bishop and said, "Then we all can talk if you want."

Flying around on a broom...high in the air...with a bat...Kurumi needed to stop thinking about flying, and Quidditch by extension, before she broke out into hives.
Kurumi pulled her bowl a little closer, stirring the contents a little, and then setting it between her and the red head. "Well...now it kind of looks like a duck laying an egg," she said peering into the bowl. "So...that either means I am going to make money by creating something, perhaps in owning my own bakery, or...Some guy named Bill is going to sweep me off my feet." She looked up at Selina and laughed. "Do you know anyone named Bill that I should look out for?"
Kurumi glanced up at Professor Bishop when she addressed the class. She wasn't sure whether or not Selina wanted to go immediately to her office, but Kurumi wasn't against a visit to see the phoenix.

Why Josh really was more interesting than the lesson at the moment, Evelyn couldn't help but glance down to the bowl of water and oil sitting in front of her. Was she curious to see if she could see anything in the bowl? Pfft, of course not.
Maybe.
Yet, her gaze lingered on one particular spot. Hmm, it looked like the number eight. What more could two circles connected to one another look like anyhow? Realizing that she didn't get one of those list thingies, the Slytherin girl quickly summoned one before staring at the list. Huh, no number eight. There was an 'Hourglass' listed though. That could be close to looking like an eight.
Time running out...need to decide something....illusion...
...
What? What did it mean time was running out? What did she need to decide!? WHY WAS SHE LOSING TIME?! "Professor...I think this bowl is broken." Obviously, it was broken. It was making her think.
Chloe gathered the supplies she needed and got to work on her divination assignment. With all things she needed at hand she did an augmenti charm aiming for the bowl with oil. From there she saw the oil begin to form shapes which she pretty much expected. Though it seemed rather unbelievable that something so simple could possibly be divine anything. Though the oil did look like an oddly like an elephant. Well atleast that is strength and wisdom if true is not a bad thing. Wait, now it looks like a ladder, uh, the rise and fall of life, no one is gonna die, this is such bull.
"And you know me, I'm the opposite," Kurumi winked. Just the thought of being on a broom was almost enough to make her break out in hives. Flying around on a broom...high in the air...with a bat...Kurumi needed to stop thinking about flying, and Quidditch by extension, before she broke out into hives.

Selina only heard white noise. Everything was a blur to her. It wasn't like a blur in the sense that she was having a vision, it was more like shock. Shock at what she had just seen and by extension what she had just emotionally been through. That vision was the hardest thing she had ever had to witness minus... well Selina liked not to think about that day. After all she was just three at the time, it wasn't her fault. But seeing herself sitting in a chair unable to function, maybe dead, had really stirred up the little second year. What was she supossed to do? Her fate was already settled on... she had seen it.
Finally she was able to focus enough and heard Kurumi call to her from a distance. But when she recfocused she relexed that Kurumi was right beside her, "What? Oh right, um, yeah that is really funny Kurumi," Selina replied with an emptiness to her voice, "I'll, uh, make sure that I keep a look out for that Bill of yours... or maybe a Connor," Selina teased with a slight life to her voice. The life in her voice though was on the brink of death. That vision was really painful.

Kurumi frowned a bit when Selina still seemed to not have fully returned to the classroom. At least, there was still a slightly glazed over look in her eyes. What signaled to Kurumi that Selina had come back to the land of the present was her witty comment. "W-W-W-What?!" she squeaked covering her cheeks before any severe blushing could take place. "I-I-I don't know what you are talking about..."
Kurumi grabbed the bowl and forced it towards herself, spilling a little of its contents over the sides and wetting the table again. Now the shape had changed from a duck to...a parasol? "You don't suppose those little floating bits of oil around it are supposed to be rain...do you?"
Her cheeks were still burning hot. Selina knew how to push her buttons alright.

Selina laughed a little at Kurumi's sudden blush. Her small comment had made very much an impact. She knew it would. And later, when they were all done with Selina's impending death, she would confront her friend about that whole ordeal. After Adam had left she thought Kurumi was going to be single for a while. Now this new boy, his over exuberant feelings and all, was definitely affecting Kurumi in some way. It was her job to find out exactly in what way.
She was slightly bemused when Kurumi made up some nonsense about the oil in the basin. To humor her friend she looked down at the oil and commented, "I don't know. It looks a little bit like tears to me. Rain has a more uniform shape. Tears are the outburst of emotion so they never really have any time to conform. Besides that would defeat the whole purpose of tears. We cry when we don't want to face the conformity of social standards. We cry because we are hurt by how insignificant we seem in the whole grande scheme of things. That maybe our lives never mattered at all..." Maybe that was more of a reflection of how Selina was feeling at the moment... not the oil.

Um..." Tayla's eyes furrowed and then she gave a big smile again. "Are you planning to transfigure yourself into an animal or something?"
She looked at her bowl again. The blobs didn't look like anything to her really, but with a little imagination... "I think I have...a mask over there. But when I look at it this way...it looks like some kind of flower, a rose maybe."
Tayla raised her eyebrows in amusement. "A mask means something hidden. While a flower...no, that's not on the list...but the rose is right there. It means creation, flower of life, or love."
Tayla suddenly thought of the locket her grandma gave her and which she always wore around her neck. She still didn't know what was in it. "That's definitely something hidden..." she thought.
Shrugging, she looked up at Salander and showed him her bowl. "What do you think?"
"Me transfigure into?... oh!" Salander chuckled as he realized what it meant on the list. "Hmm I dunno, I cant do nothing of those fancy morphing thing like some students " he said as he glanced around quickly at Kurumi and the other kids. He looked back down and frowned. Some of the blob started to stretch out "This looks like a knife... or a dagger or something." Glancing back on the list and a brow went up. He didnt like what it meant.
He looked at Tayla's bowl hoping that hers would be more pleasant "Yeah that looks like a mask and some sort of flower. So from the list it means something hidden... something lovely or love related needs to be revealed?" he smirked at the young one. "You got an admirer already?" Kids nowadays, the only thing he admired at her age was the plan of how to get even with a bunch of school bullies.

Okay, Janice thought. She took out a piece of parchment and her quill, and wrote what she saw.
- lots of circles
- boat
Penny saw Niss sitting alone, she brought her bowl over and sat down beside her...."Hey Niss, do you mind if I join you?".......then began concentrating on her bowl, trying to decipher the symbols....
First she thought she saw a CIRCLE and consulting her book discovered that it meant success, completion....or it could have been the SUN which means happiness, success, power..
But then the shape changed, it was still intact like a circle but the outlines moved into what looked like an URN and consulting her book again, meant wealth and happiness...
It seemed to Penny, that as soon as she noted the shapes ad meanings, the oil was already altering again...this time it was unmistakable, definitely a STAR - health and happiness, hope, heavens, Isis and other goddesses, female energies,
And then it was changing again.... it looked like a huge U, but Penny thought it must be a HORSESHOE which is good luck, attraction, Earth's magnetics, Omega or Leo, closure..

Tayla glanced between Salander's cup and the list. "Yikes...neither of the two mean good...maybe that's not a dagger or a knife? Maybe it's a...a...candle? Yeah, sorta looks like a candle from this angle..."
Tayla blushed when Salander teased her. "No way! I don't have an...a-admirer." Tayla gave a small chuckle. "I actually think the symbol refers to this locket of mine. My grandmother gave it to me two years ago, but I haven't been able to open it."
Tayla got a sudden idea. Remembering the spell she and her friend Ari had found in a library book, she decided to ask Salander, "Sal...do you like Charms?" Tayla continued looking at her bowl though. The blobs were changing shape again. Now it looked like some sort of animal. An octopus maybe. Tayla shrugged. Divination wasn't a branch of magic she liked so much.
Eino spent the remainder of his class time pondering on what those four symbols could mean to him. A chain, a closed book, a lamp at its side, and a butterfly... These results were slightly different compared to all the others he had gathered from his previous Divination practices, although he didn't remember them all too clearly. Maybe he should go through his notes from the last two years to see if he could find a meaning to them. He should, but he probably would forget to do so the moment he exited the classroom. He returned his attention to the list and reread the symbol interpretations and thought that there ought to be a more detail one. Perhaps he would find one in the library, or maybe the Professor could recommend one.

Renée had turned her attention back to Selina and Kurumi, but as Zara spoke again, she turned her gaze back to the other Gryffindor girl. The entire description was fascinating, as most of it seemed more like regurgitation of what had been on the list rather than a true analysis and interpretation, but then, Zara was young. She had time to learn the methods. “Circles would most likely be the first to appear,” she agreed, “But you seem to have kept up with the changes.” Until the mysterious rectangle incident. The intent of the statement the girl had made hadn’t slipped past her, though. “The meanings don’t change when the symbols do. They clarify. You could argue that your reading actually was telling you that you had a new beginning, like coming to Hogwarts. And you’re your path is uncertain, unexpected. Going with that, I’d say the rectangle might in fact be a sort of doorway. Leading to your new path in life, as a witch.”
Of course, that was only her own interpretation of what the symbols could all mean, and had only been made to explain how the changing symbols don’t nullify each others’ meanings. Zara would have to try and understand it all on her own, as well as make her own choices, to have any of it actually make sense in the long run. That was her whole reasoning for having them all try their own readings. It was true she could make them for everyone, in her own way, but that wouldn’t teach them.

As she had that thought, Renée looked up as she heard Evelyn speak, and a smile flickered across her face. She hadn’t even really expected the Slytherin to truly try to do a reading, as she’d noticed her attention on Josh previously, but even so, the conclusion was amusing. Walking over to the sixth year’s table, she glanced at the bowl before looking at Evelyn herself. “I doubt it’s broken, but perhaps the meaning is just eluding you,” she replied, tapping her finger on the list in front of Evelyn. “Synchronicity is an interesting possibility, after all. Coincidences having meaning.” It made her wonder if anyone else had found an hourglass in their readings, at least. Even if she wasn’t there to discuss psychology, or philosophy. She wasn’t about to make Evelyn think, since it seemed that was the girl’s true problem with the reading.
In fact, that seemed to be a good reason to let them all wind things down, and she moved away from the Slytherin to head back to her own table before facing everyone again. “Okay, I think this is as good a time as any to bring things to a close. “I’m sure a lot of you have found some interesting things out, both in your readings and simply about the process of elaeomancy. Not to mention the elusiveness of symbols,” she said with a little grin. She knew there were at least a few who hadn’t exactly liked the given possible meanings for what they’d seen, not in the least Evelyn. In a way, it cemented her idea for the homework assignment. “Class is dismissed. Feel free to finish things up if you haven’t, or you’d like to, but other than that, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day. The homework assignment will be posted outside my office shortly.” And at those words, she took a seat again, ready to wait for everyone to clear out so she could gather everything together again and clean it all up. She also had a feeling she’d be hearing from Selina or Kurumi soon, as well, which gave her another reason to get them all to finish things up.

With that, Eino was free for the remainder of the day, no more classes. It was off to the Ravenclaw Common room and take a quick nap before dinner. He had learned a lot about elaeomancy, including how to pronounce it (kind of), symbols in divination, and... himself? He still wasn't sure what those symbols meant to him, but he would look into it. He packed his ink, quills, parchment, and finally his book. Then, he took his wand out and used the Scourging Charm to clean the bowl of water and oil, and finally returned the bowl and pitcher back to the shelve. "Good day, Professor." He said as he waved her goodbye and exited the classroom-- Wait, no wrong door, that was a cabinet. "Good day, Professor." He repeated and walked out the right door this time.
Penny saw Niss sitting alone, she brought her bowl over and sat down beside her...."Hey Niss, do you mind if I join you?".......then began concentrating on her bowl, trying to decipher the symbols....

"Hey, Penny! Come, sit with me..." Janice said to Penny when she asked if she could sit with her.
Okay , she thought, back to work.
She spotted a silhouette of intersecting circles, probably a chain. Then, there comes the leaf.
So far, her conclusion was Your happy boat of life is having a lot of Karmas, but still have lots of unexpected turns. .
Oh, class is dismissed? That was short.Oh well.
"Bye professor! Thank you for the lesson."
Then, she walked out of the room, thinking about her 'happy boat of life'.

Aw, all the fun was over. Yes, Helena had a lot of fun during the Divination lessons, even though she couldn't actually do something right. But maybe she'll get better... eventually. At least before she graduates from Hogwarts. Or never.
She packed her things quickly and stood up. "Goodbye, professor," she smiled. "I hope you'll have a nice day as well." Aaaand she left the classroom.

Nika sighed as she quickly wrote down some more shapes. She looked constantly from the bowl to the board as she scribbled everything down. She just needed to get it all done before she left. Maybe staring off into space while she should have been working wasn't such a good idea after all.

She read through her list of three and raised an eyebrow as she tried to put them all together. Well this isn't good.... She noticed they all had to do with friendship and argument and maybe something bad happening in the friendship. Uh oh...
Nika quickly stuffed her papers into her bag and put away her supplies. She tried out her bowl and put it back on the shelf. Remembering to put it on the bottom one. She didn't want another falling incident. Then she skipped towards professor Bishop and waved goodbye.
"Bye Professor!" She said enthusiastically as she made her way out of the classroom and towards the common room.

"Selina, that doesn't make any sense," she laughed peering into the bowl a bit more. "Why would there be tears around a parasol?" Unless it was a very small parasol. Perhaps it belonged to a doll and Kurumi was crying over her favorite toy being broken? Anything was possible when it came to Divination as far as Kurumi was concerned. However, it became very clear to Kurumi that Selina was talking on a much deeper level than the weather. "Not all tears are evil, Selina. There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love...friendship too."

She also had a feeling she’d be hearing from Selina or Kurumi soon, as well, which gave her another reason to get them all to finish things up.
Kurumi's attention was then drawn towards Professor Bishop who had dismissed class. Nodding towards the woman before looking back at Selina, Kurumi grabbed her books and placed them back in her leather bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I'll meet you at Professor Bishop's office," Kurumi whispered after casting Scourgify on her bowl. "I need to grab something in the common room first."
Kurumi then returned her bowl to where she had gotten it and rushed up to Professor Bishop. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor," she smiled with a slight bow. "I-I'll stop by your office with Selina soon."
With that, Kurumi made her way out the door, giggling as she did having spotted Eino trying to make an exit through the cupboard.

Tayla sighed, shook her head, and closed her eyes for a while. All the staring made her feel a little dizzy. She smiled at Salander and stood up. "Thanks for sitting with me Sal. See you around." Tayla had always wanted an older brother, so she definitely liked having Salander as a partner.
She gave the professor a smile, too. "Thanks, Professor. Have an amazing day as well!"

Selina turned away when Kurumi began to talk. She covered her face with her red hair in an attempt to hide herself. Kurumi was right. That much Selina knew. But it was easier to avoid something than confront it. If she just hid away and never confronted the truth it could never hurt her. She would never have to face her lonely childhood, her curse that controlled her life, her dead sister and the circumstances of her death. It was just easier to push it under all of her strength and pretend it didn't exist. Because if she confronted it her world would crumble.
When she turned back around to look at Kurumi she had gone. She had said something that was along the lines of meeting her at Bishops. So Selina stood up and collected her things. Once she had her things in order Selina walked up to Bishop's desk with empty eyes, "Thank you for the lesson ma'am. I'll, um see you later..."

Oh? Class was over?
Although she was suddenly starting to feel a little ill, Sierra perked up at the mention of class coming to a close. She'd done it--survived another Divination class! She still didn't believe or trust over half of what she discovered in here, but mehh. She came for the points really. Not the knowledge.
She quickly cleaned her work area and put everything away. Homework. Blahh. She was caught up with all her other assignments, though, so at least this new assignment wasn't going to be added to an already-growing mountain of things to do. She slung her book bag over her shoulder and gave the professor a halfhearted wave as she left the room. She just wanted to go lie down for a while...

She listened to Professor Bishop intently. A door.. Maybe. The meaning was somehow related. And the way professor had connected them all, it seems that the symbols were starting to have a meaning and not just a bunch of images with meanings to go along. Yeah, maybe it was a door. "Thank you, professor." Zara smiled at her. Then went back to her work to think about it. Or probably it was a book. Right. Zara decided that it was. A closed book, where something written would come to her and she'll have to investigate more about it. Or an envelope, perhaps. Because a message would be coming where she'll discover something. Well, she'll have to see in the future because they can all have some meaning.
Wow, Zara was beginning to develop an interest in these symbols. And before she thought Divination was just reading and reading. Now she realized it was also about discovering and understanding. Nice.
And class was almost ended and soon she'll know what that rectangle really is when that events comes to her life while in Hogwarts. Maybe that's it. Maybe it wasn't clear yet if the rectangle was a door, a book, or an envelope simply because any of the three could be it. Maybe it was an envelope. Like before when the received her letter to Hogwarts--it opened her to new discoveries that she was magical. Or maybe a doorway to a new life as a witch like Professor Bishop had said. Or still, it can be a book--where she can still discover many things about her life and her ancestors' life as magical people so she still has more to investigate. Smiling to herself, she gathered her things and put them back in her bag. The rectangle had told her three meanings in one symbol. She slung her bag over her shoulder and walked up to Professor Bishop, "Thank you again professor. I think I understand things more clearly now." Zara smiled, and said her goodbyes. "Goodbye for now, Professor. I'll be looking forward to your next class." Her smile turned into a grin. She will certainly look forward to it. With more enthusiasm than before.
