She stopped pacing, cocked her great head to one side, and then looked at Lachlan. "Unless I am mistaken, Professor," and she never was, "this one seems to have given the best explanation of them all." Lachlan disregarded the slight sarcasm Rosamund's words carried, and nodded. "You are, of course, correct." Both of them; Theodore for answering correctly, and Rosamund for pointing it out. "Have two points, Mister Dumble." Then he addressed the rest of the class, as a whole. "Just because Rosamund decided to retreat rather than attack does not mean any other Sphinx would react the same. In fact, most creatures would not."
Or animals, as some of the students had called them. "In reality, it works the same way between us humans. Abruptly approaching a complete stranger? I can guarantee you they won't be pleased." Most likely, they'd either react the same way as Rosie did or simply walk away with a look on their face that clearly told you they thought you insane. "Remember, as I said earlier, Respect above all." And common sense, too.

Grinning like a smug, proud idiot, Theodore reveled in his acquisition of points for Ravenclaw. It was about damn time that he started contributing to the points hourglasses in the entrance hall, which had dwindled pitifully at the start of term. Quote:

Soon a couple of other students joined in with the same answer, though one of more or less stuttered their way through their response. "You are all correct." And technically, the rest of them, too, but it was her Riddle, and while their answers were entirely plausible, too, Rosamund was ignoring those.[/COLOR] Lachlan scratched the back of his head at Rosamund's words, and couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow. His own, private answer had been 'secret,' and that in his own mind made a lot of sense. He was not about to get in the middle of an argument with a sphinx, however, and instead walked to the middle of the group of students and placed both boxes, filled with cauldron cakes and chocolate frogs, in the middle. "Help yourselves with these." He... didn't like sweets. Best to give them to the kids than to have to throw them all out. "After you do, you are free to go. Homework will be posted later today." MacFusty cleared his throat, and took several steps back until he was standing next to his stool. "Class dismissed!" OOC: Homework will be posted later tonight. Really. ^__^ Thanks for playing along, folks! | Reaching over, Theodore scooped up a handful of cauldron cakes and tossed them into his book bag. He knew quite a few friends that would appreciate these treats. Putting away his notebook, quill, and ink pot, Theodore swung his bag over his shoulder and, swiping an extra cauldron cake from one of the boxes, the sixth year smiled and bid farewell to the teacher: "See you later, Professor." As the plastic of the sweets crinkled around in his bag and in his hand, the Ravenclaw took a quick bite and, screwing up the courage to do so, waved a goodbye to the beautiful sphinx. This would definitely be a lesson to tell his parents about. |
