Penny smiled, she knew this one, she put her hand in the air.."Glisseo, Sir"

MagicGlitter 07-21-2011 07:58 PM

Ariella raised her hand. "I'm pretty sure it's Glisseo," she said, trying to remember what it was. Yes, she was pretty sure that was the right spell.

Starbreeze 07-21-2011 08:18 PM

"That would be the Glisseo Charm." Eino said after having raised his hand. He had even tried casting that charm on the stairs as practice since the stairs leading to the boys' dormitories weren't charmed.

elllla_Wtwins 07-21-2011 08:21 PM

'Glisseoooo!' Sang out Thea. Teheh. She was amaaazed that she knew any of the answers at all!

littledhampir 07-21-2011 08:26 PM

Isobel thought she knew that one. "Is it Glisseo, sir?" That sounded right, and she thought it was right, but she wasn't completely positive.

Samira Malfoy Potter 07-21-2011 09:33 PM

"Glisseo," said Samira with a faint smile as she thought of the effects of that charm.

Magical Soul 07-21-2011 10:13 PM

"Glisseo." Louisa answered after raising her hand. It was relatively an easy last lesson. Charms was always easy to her but this particular lesson was first-year easy and she was a THIRD YEAR. and a RAVENCLAW. Hmph.

Kurumi had to cover her mouth to prevent a loud squeak from escaping her lips. She wasn't particularly fond of dark places. Kurumi removed her wand from her pocket so quickly that she nearly lost her grip on it - which would have spelled disaster. "Lumos," she half wibbled and a bright light appeared from the tip of her wand.

For... two points? Two points sounded fair, Jared decided.

If they performed the counter charm....he was going to turn the lights back on right? Kurumi paused a moment, but the classroom didn't change at all she found herself less inclined to perform the spell. However, when she saw that her classmates were doing it, she knew that she just had to suck it up and go with it. "Nox."

"Glisseo, professor," Kurumi said with her hand raised up in the air.

The restrictions on some of the questions had to do with testing everyone's attention, and the choice of houses had been spur-of-the-moment, not intentional lumping. Jared hadn't raised his voice, and it continued to remain both calm and neutral as he spoke again.

"I'd like to see you in the Charms Practice Hall, after class."

Huh?

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa?!

What was this man's problem? Ha? What was it? Josh really wanted to know that. Heh. Apparently he did not know that Josh had no idea about houses until he, one day, suddenly happened to end up in this school. And other people forced the differences between houses in him. They made him seperate and classify people in his mind. It was not his fault. Heh! But Josh was not going to rise up and explain this to the man. Not at all.

And Ravenclaws were not classmates anyway. They were...something different. They needed supervision or something because they are the real hidden evil ones while everyone blamed Slytherins for it. Whatever...Josh was going to remain silent about that as well.

But...what? He wanted to see him in that Practice Hall after class? Heh. Meh. And what was he going to do? Force him to practice Diffindo? Pffffffft. Again refusing to talk, Josh just returned the deadpan look at the man then leaned back again for a comfortable position on his seat.

...

This was getting more and more boring. So just to entertain himself, he mimicked the last given answer by a girl's voice murmuring and not really paying attention to whose answer was that ''Glisseo, professor," with an exeggeatedly dramatic tone.

Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!

Vanishing Charm? Ah well, he should have expected something of that sort from Simon. "It's Glisseo," Jared corrected, resisting the urge to ruffle the kid's hair.

Talk about mature. "Josh, do you need a throat lozenge?" Jared asked, voice still neutral.

What was that spell again? Jonathan looked at the ground for awhile and thought about it. Hmmmm... He tried snapping his fingers softly.

OF COURSE, how could he miss that spell?! His cousin used to talk about it back when he was a student. "Glisseo" yes, he's confident enough with his answer. Very much confident with that.

"Glisseo," Jared agreed. "Part of the spellwork on the stairs leading to any of the girls' dormitories, at Hogwarts." Part - not all of - the spellwork, contrary to what most students seemed to think, for some reason he had yet to find.

"Fifth through seventh years. For three points, who can tell me both basic purposes that Luxra Magnifica serves?"

Roselyn 07-22-2011 04:03 AM

Woah, she dosed off. Totally not on purpose though. However, she came back down to earth right when the Professor was asking another question. For them? Eep! "It magnifies both light and shadows." she said, right after raising her hand. Wait...right? She was...semi-certain? Except the bloody baron kept popping up in her mind for some reason and well, he always made her second guess her thoughts.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 07-22-2011 04:16 AM

Vashti had to take a few moments to remember what Luxra Magnifica was. She felt like she had so many different charms and spells buzzing around in her head after all the studying she'd done over the year that she couldn't remember the one she actually needed to know about to answer this question. Merlin, she needed to work on that.

But finally, something came to her. "Is it to enhance the effects of light and shadow?" she asked, raising her hand. Was that the purpose though? That was what the charm did... Were they the same thing? Aw, Merlin.

Obviously she still had some more studying to do.

Heh?

Whaaaaaaat? Now Josh had decided and he was certain. This man had problems. Serious problems. Very serious problems. So serious that it seemed to be a problem even if students were trying to entertain themselves during class.

''I think we both need it'' he said though with a little smirk.

Mwahahahaha...

Ooooh...

There came the question for him. It was for him, right? Yup, he was a sixth year when he had checked the last time which also reminded him the fact that how surprising it was that he actually had managed to make it to sixth year. Hehehehehehehe.....

He was not sure of what this Luxa Magnifica was though so he could only...make up something or...whatever...try his chance.

''It makes the light it a certain area got brighter so if the light gets brighter the stuff affected by light within the area gets bigger as well? Affected by light i mean shadows, reflective spots and...things like that?''

And of course, as usual...he had things to add...

''Why would someone need a spell like that though? It sounds pointless to me.''

Yeaaa...very useless.

"Here, help yourself," Jared said, walking over to the Gryffindor's desk and, having summoned a pack of throat lozenges, placing it on the desk in question.

And?

"I want you to transcribe the essay you wrote for me after the last class, in runes."

...

"I doubt anyone could do that with Luxra Magnifica, but it would make an excellent decorative charm," Jared said, voice still neutral. Yes. He'd chosen to treat the question as a question.

Pointless?

Wasn't that what the Gryffindor called every charm?

"That doesn't surprise me, kid. I want the essay handed in by the end of this lesson."

Moving on.

"Right," Jared nodded. Were the other students taking the occasional note? Now seemed like a good time to be doing so, given that the question seemed to have confused a good number of them. "Luxra Magnifica can magnify both light and shadows."

"Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. For two points, which word is the incantation 'Glisseo' derived from, and what does this word mean?"

"Ravenclaw and Slytherin. For two points, which language is the incantation for the basic Severing Charm derived from, and what does this incantation translate to?"

slytherus 07-23-2011 04:28 AM

"From Latin which means to split," answers Aiden quickly. That was an easy one for her.

cheeseStrings 07-23-2011 04:34 AM

Janice raised her hand and answered.
"It's from the french word Glisser, right? Meaning slip or slide..."

sweetpinkpixie 07-23-2011 04:35 AM

Kurumi's hand was back on in the air. "It comes from the word Glisser which means to to slip or slide."

Oh, well why don't you just look at that. For once, the Slytherins had been paired with the Ravenclaws instead of the Hufflepuffs. Hmm. With a pleased smirk on her face, Sierra raised her hand. "Diffindo comes from the Latin language, and it means to split, cleave, or open."

Samira Malfoy Potter 07-23-2011 04:41 AM

Samira raised her hand. "Diffindo is the basic severing charm, and it's Latin. It means "to split, cleave, or open."" Easy.

"Very good."

"The Cheering Charm was invented in the fourteenth century. For one point... who invented it?" No restrictions on this question, which meant anyone and everyone in the class could answer.

sweetpinkpixie 07-23-2011 04:59 AM

"It was invented by Felix Summerbee," Kurumi said as her hand shot up into the air faster than a broom during a Quidditch match.

slytherus 07-23-2011 05:01 AM

"Felix Summerbee, isn't it?" Figures! His name itself means lucky.

Roselyn 07-23-2011 05:02 AM

Glancing over at Josh, the Slythering sighed quietly before slumping in her seat slightly. Might as well be comfortable.

With the next question though, the Slytherin girl waited a moment before raising her hand. "Felix Summerbee." she said, before dropping her arm back down to her side.

Samira Malfoy Potter 07-23-2011 05:11 AM

Samira leaned back in her seat, becoming slightly bored. "Felix Summerbee," she answered, observing the other people around her.

Ringo 07-23-2011 05:22 AM

Ronnie thought. And thought. "What was it?" she thought to herself. It was on the tip of her tongue! She kept thinking then......Aha! She remembered! "Felix Summerbee." she answered.
