Having read the notice in your common room, you head down to the grounds for your next Charms lesson. In an enclosure of sorts, desks have been set up in the usual, neat rows. Professor Descoteaux is standing at the front of the classroom and, once inside, you realize that the place feels a pleasant sort of cool.
"Impervious? I mean, I guess it's helpful when there's large amounts of water around..." she said, staring at the lake. It was definitely going to be a wet lesson. She just hoped she'd master whatever charm it was before they had to go near the l- hang on, "What about the bubblehead charm?" She didn't take her eyes from the water. "Please tell me we aren't going in the lake..."

Macy thought for a moment. WAIT. Wasthisatrickquestion?! She wasn't hood with trick questions. How on earth were they supposed to know what HE was going to be teaching?! Mmm... "A charm that hides an area?" she guessed. Or was that a spell? She could never seem to keep the two straight. Though perhaps there was both a spell and a charm for hiding things.

Penny thought for a moment, thinking about their location, and putting her hand in the air..."Professor, are we going to learn about charms that involve water in some way?"
"Well, with all this water perhaps we will be learining the draught charm to evaporate it away", Chloe responded with her habd raised high. That answer had not been given yet, score.

Louisa raised her hand excitedly and burst out, "Are we going to learn conjuring water and then dry it out?" She paused smiling widely at the thought of learning TWO charms at once.. when a better idea occurred to her mind, "Or maybe we'll learn how to dry up the lake and find where that old ship had come from!" nope, it wasn't a question. She just suggested it ^__^
Seilna rose her hand a little confused and said, "Um I don't know, maybe a disillusionment charm?" She honestly had no clue at all and this was an odd way to start the class. Maybe it was a free lance class.. that would be too awesome.
Ariella raised her hand. She remembered that the notice on the bulletin board said to wear something you didn't mind getting very drenched in. "Something involving water. Possibly the Impervius charm to repel water or the Aguamenti charm to produce water?"

Kurumi fiddled with her quill for a moment as she thought back to the notice on the board she had read. The overall message had essentially been 'be ready to get wet' and Kurumi had brought a change of robes with her just in case. It sure seemed like this particular professor liked charms dealing with water. They had had their fun with Mizurus Boru last term and had enjoyed a winter wonderland last class - which it only slightly related to actual water, but frozen water had its connections.
Kurumi tugged on her robes a bit and took further note of he pleasant temperature in the classroom. "Perhaps Glacius," Kurumi suggested raising her hand. The coolness in the room did imply some sort of freezing or cooling agent after all. "Or..." she paused for a moment feeling a bit hesitant to even suggest the next since it was a conjuration spell and not a charm. "...a variation of Aguamenti?" There, that was safe, wasn't it?

Lucy looked at the professor as started the class with the first question, what were they going to study, well it's a charms class so we'll be learning about charm the thought, but then the professor asked the same question in a different way. She heard him ask what charm they were going to learn. Lucy always wanted to learn about charms that could be used when we forget something and then they automatically appear in front of our eyes, as she always kept forgetting something or the other. But maybe professor could teach this some other time, for the time i didn't think professor would teach that she thought and then raised her hand and said "Professor, are we going t learn a charm related to brightness?" and then she took her hand back down.

"Hello yourself," he responded dryly. Professor Desperado. He supposed it was better than being called Professor Disco or Professor Toe.
Right. Moving on.
Unlike how it had been in the last lesson, the classroom wasn't huge today, which meant using sonorus wouldn't be such a good idea. Jared raised his voice a notch or two, to address the whole class. "Any ideas what we're going to learn, today?"
Yes. Never a bad plan to start off with an easy question.
Lara paused a minute trying to figure out the answer to that question. She really hated such questions but anyway she hated like all kind of questions.
She looked around her trying to think why is the lesson held here not in the class in-doors.
She didn't really guess why but she said what she felt, although it's not always a good idea "Maybe, you thought that we deserve a break and you thught that a lesson would be a great excuse to gather here and have fun?" she asked innocently.

What are we going to do? Something easy, something… some charm that everyone is going to understand and be able to cast.‘Perhaps Summoning Charms?’Like Accio?'Or... Banishing Charms?'That should be easy… easy- but boring. Hopefully they wouldn't do that. That was the only thing she could come up with, so, after a while, she really hoped she was wrong.
What were they going to learn? Wasn't it his job to tell them? Presley scrunched her shoulders up around her ears and let them drop again as if to say "I don't know, why don't you tell us?" She pondered for a moment. They were outside, but still on schoolgrounds...... She had no idea.

Other students had already said it, but Ariadne decided against keeping quiet. In some classes, keeping quiet was something you got scolded for. So no, thank you. 'A charm related to water? Like Impervius or Aguamenti.' the young Gryffindor said, after having raised her hand.

What charm?
Helena had suddenly ignored her doodles and straightened her back. The doodles will have to wait. "Maybe the Aguamenti charm?" She suggested, with her hand in the air. "Or maybe that Mizurus boru..." thing "from the last term?" But the girl hoped that they weren't going to do THAT again, even though the notice board said something about 'drenched'.
Eying him with the usual grin on his face while he asked the new version of his question, Josh leaned back coolly and comfortably as he answered again ''One that Muggles wouldn't be able to doing under any circumstances. You know, i have charm but it's not really magical and the one we will learn here should be magical, right?''
"Guesses, not opinions, Josh." If the kid had charm, Jared had yet to see it. ".. and magical is a relative term."
Next.

It seemed half the class had either not been listening to, or just plain forgotten, the speech he'd made in the last class.
"Aguamenti is not a charm," Jared said, resisting the urge to frown. He'd thought that had been clarified, in the last lesson. "Pulling things out of thin air? That's conjuration. Which is Transfiguration."

He heard that the Ministry used many of those charms but they were rather difficult to cast and even more difficult to control once cast. Or maybe they would learn something that would imitate the Hogwarts sky ceiling.

Summoning charm, banishing charm, thermal charm, Glacius.. Jared had a feeling no one was going to guess right, here. "Take a point each," he said, when it seemed none of the students had anything to add. "The charm we're going to learn today is -" Something no one seems to have thought of. "Diffindo. We're going to discuss, practice and use it but, before we do any of that, who can tell me what this charm does?"

Oooh. Finn knew the answer to the this. With a grin Finlay raised his hand. Oh. he was pretty proud that he knew the answer, because he was just that cool. "Diffindo is the severing charm. That means that the charm is a spell that cuts something open." Yes. Finlay did know some things. His brain wasn't completly empty.

Well that was crtainly a suprise. How would a charm like diffindo help with all this water. Well it seemed before long Chloe would find out. For now it was time to answer the question so she raised her hand and responded, "Well difindo is a severing charm that beaks things into parts, but how is that gonna help get rid of all this water. I don't think diffindo can break up tiny elements, can it?".
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna
The correct answer could have been any number of things and as most of the class decided to try and guess what it was, Simon had remained quiet as he thought over the various options. Finally when the professor gave in revealing what the correct charm was, it was easier to move on to the man's next question and the Gryffindor raised his hand to reply.
"Well its also called the severing charm so its purpose is essentially...to sever or cut something," he answered lowering his hand.

Marilyn smirked. Something easy...for now.
"I believe Diffindo is a severing charm, sir..."

Something.
Savannah thought carefully. It sounded very familiar, but she couldn't recall anything. Ugh... Then she thought that the word Diffindo sounded like the word different. Nah...that couldn't be it. Savannah remembered that the word came from a Latin word. What was it again??
Savannah remembered that she had used it one year to play a trick on someone in her first year. What did she do? Savannah nibbled on the corner of her quill. Pttt. She spit some fo the feather out. Nothing's helping. Then looked around the room, hoping to see some clue. Chalk board...window...door...people...parchment...ink bottles...
Suddenly, the fourth-year Snake saw a student opening his bag. Open...split...divide...divide! That's it! The word Diffindo means divide. Savannah raised her hand high in the air. "Diffindo tears an object...divides it."
"Diffindo is Latin for divide, split, cut, or open." Eino said after raising his hand. Since that was what it meant, that was also probably what it did. "It can be used for... many things, including wounding someone." Not that the Professor intended for them to use it to hurt each other, at least he didn't think so. Not that Eino would use it against someone anyway. He crossed his arms and rested them on his desk as he looked from student to student, listening attentively to each of their answers.

Fallon smiled as the Descoteux said they were going to learn Diffindo. It was something that she had always wanted learn. It seemed like it might come in handy at some point in the future.
She was going to raise her hand to answer...when Finn beat her too it. There was no point in repeating the same answer over. She smiled at him. Fallon took quick little notes on her parchment and waited for the professor to go on.

Uhh Helena couldn't feel worse after her stupid answer, and she also felt her cheeks turn bright red. That was embarrassing! But... Charms, Transfiguration, Charms, Transfiguration... same thing. Definitely not.
Alright. Diffindo. The girl raised her hand, once her cheeks started to turn back to the usual pale colour. "It is used to divide something, or to split, cut," he probably got the idea.

Kurumi blinked a few times. She certainly hadn't considered Diffindo as an answer at all after reading the announcement board and she suddenly had a sinking feeling in the put of her stomach as to what this class' activity would entail.
"Diffindo, the Severing Charm, is a spell that cuts something open or that separates an object into other parts," Kurumi said with her hand raised and a slight quiver appeared on her lips as she remembered a time at Hogwarts when she had seen this spell in action. "It is a spell used on baby crup's tails..." Yeah, she remembered that lesson very clearly Professor Saylen.
