| | Cat Corridor - Transfiguration Shaw has let loose an army of feral cats for Transfiguration class. Additionally, he has filled the nooks, crannies, windows, and doors with catnip. The cats are WILD and now CRAZY on catnip. They do NOT wish to be caught, so use your smarts and friends to catch one.
Note that you do NOT have your wand, as Shaw has asked you all to deposit them with him.
Once you've captured a cat, you can return to class with your specimen. |

I need a blasted wand." Shaw and his not-so-brilliant ideas. What would have been the harm in using a wand anyway?! This was Transfiguration, not Muggle Studies. How Muggles ever caught their blasted cats was beyond her. Was it this hard for them, too?!
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, her hand was closing in on the catnip/poo. "This better not be cat poo," she murmured to herself. Realizing they'd get no further if they didn't do something now, she closed her hand around the... "...oh," she said, stepping out of the nook and breathing a sigh of relief. "It's catnip." She kept a piece for herself and handed some to Nika. Was the Puffer working with them, too? She eyed the girl then handed her a piece, as well. There. She'd done her good deed for the year. Nika let out a sigh of relief as she heard Sierra stepping out and thankfully not looking disgusted. A smile crept unto her face when Sierra confirmed that it was catnip. Thank merlin! "Thanks," She said as the Slytherin gave her a piece. "Now to catch one of these crazy cats." Nika said looking around the corridor.
She looked at Sierra and then deeply breathed out. "Hope this works." She crouched down on her knees and looked around. She spotted a few cats not too fair away. "Here kitty kitty... NO WAIT! Not both of you!" she wanted to quickly jump up and out of the way, but it was too late. They attacked her. Much like Nika hug! attacked Sierra and twenty five other unsuspecting Slytherins.
She was forced backwards as the cats jumped on top of her. "OUCH! Get off!" But Nika wasn't going to let the catnip go to waste. After all this time spent trying to get it she wasn't going to let these cats get the better of her. She eyed the two cats trying to shake them off but keeping one of them for class. She quickly grabbed the cat that was now starting to dig a claw into her leg.
Great. So now her hair was all messed up, her shirt has a small hole in it, and she was scratched up. Buuut she did get a cat. She could barely hold the thing because it wouldn't stop squirming around. Looking to Sierra she forced a small, weak smile. "Your turn." The sooner she caught a cat, the sooner they could get this assignment over with.

Sneaking up behind it, she noticed it had found some more catnip and it dawned on her at that moment, she might be in some trouble. Cat + catnip = trouble.
The cat sensed her behind her and hissed. Yes, Mina had found a very feisty cat that didn't want to be caught. Eyeing the cat, she stopped her movement. "Come on kitty cat. I need to catch you for the class."
Yes, maybe reasoning with it would work for her. Simon had stepped out into the corridor to try his hand at the assignment the crazy professor had given them. Looking around at his classmates he could tell it wasn't exactly an easy task which was understandable seeing as wild cats were known not to like being near humans period. Picking himself between the other single students and pairs, he spotted Mina trying to talk to one of the cats and the feline didn't seem happy. "Need some help?" he asked almost rhetorically and he slowly came up closer not wanting to startle the cat further.

It was just her lucky, the one cat that looked like it wasn't likely to claw her face would be just as feisty as the others. Raising her hands, she took a step closer to the cat. "Come on kitty, I'm not a bad person. I just need you to come back to class with me," she reasoned.
Again the cat was just not having it and hissed again. There was no way this cat was going back in that room.
Hearing a familiar voice behind her, Mina turned her head and nodded. "Yes, this little beast and I are getting nowhere fast," she replied. |

Simon tried not to chuckle as his cousin tried to reason with the cat with no result...or rather no good result. "If only cats could be reasonable," he mused trying to think of an attempt that might work. He was nto exactly a cat person, having a dog and a bat at home but that didn't mean he didn't get along with those of the feline persuasion like Walnut and others. The seventh year looked around for anything that might help, his gaze falling on a nearby window that had some remnants of the offending catnip that littered it. "Perhaps one needs to have something appeasing. Its not like it can get anymore effected," he added taking some in his fingers before taking a seat on the floor of the corridor. "Here Kitty...want some more?" he asked holding his hand out and still.

"Cats are supposed to be smart and one would think they would be reasonable," she pouted. Athena back home loved her and responded to reason, but then again she did live in a house of Ravenclaws. It really must be the catnip that Shaw doped these cats with. Seriously, cats weren't all this feisty, were they?
Seeing her cousin move to gather what was left of the offensive catnip, she frowned. She didn't want to have to revert to it, but if you can't fight them and all; you might as join them. Picking up some between her fingers, she moved a bit close and slowly knelt to the gorund. "Well, let's hope this won't affect it more." The little beast was already hissing up a storm and ready to attack.
Sniffing the air, the cat stopped its hissing and eyed the two of them suspiciously before moving toward them with care. This wasn't a foolish cat, no when catnip was involved; it was always good to be cautious.
Watching the feline moving toward them, Mina moved her hand down to the ground and held it still. She didn't want to scare the cat and end up with scratches, no that would just not do at all. |

Anyway, it was worth a try. It was the only plan they could come up with.

"Beats me," he said waiting for the cat to make its move. He nodded as Mina voiced aloud a thought he agreed with, hoping more catnip in the mix didn't make the situation get worse instead of easier.
He sat even stiller as the cat proved to have picked up the scent of both their samplings of catnip. The boy smiling as its nose moved as it caught the smell sniffing the air and patted closer to them hesitantly always watchful. "Well at least it has some smarts," he mused quietly seeing as their prey had the sense to be cautious. "That's it..." he said to the cat as it moved closer. "We don't bite. We want to be nice," he assured it trying to intice it closer so either Mina or he himself could get a hold of it.

Okay, maybe this cat wasn't as unreasonable as they thought before. The catnip did appear to be helping but it was still too soon to claim that it was a success. They did still have to catch the thing and return it to the classroom. What they were going to do with it once they were back in the classroom was really anyone's guess and she didn't even want to start to guess what Shaw might have in mind. Seriously, the guy allowed Destiny to have a chainsaw in the last lesson and that alone was asking for trouble. The two were friends and all, but she was still a bit leery of seeing her friend with a power tool.
The cat continued to slowly approach them. The scent of the catnip was alluring and it was clear that the pull of it was working. Staying close to the ground, the cat stretched out and nipped at the closest sample of catnip, letting out a tiny meow.
Hearing the meow, Mina smiled. "See, we are really nice. We don't want to hurt you," she spoke softly. It was true, they meant it no harm at all. They weren't going to hurt the cat, no they just needed to move it. |

"Alright," she said confidently. "What about that one right there?" She gave the two other Slytherins a look that plainly said let's go, and moved towards the cat. Evan shrugged. Merlin, did this 'adventurous' Shaw just equipped every single corner with it?! "Okay, it's ALL yours," he said. He would only block the cat's way out, and nothing more. Gwen started getting tired of having to catch that cat. Ok, I'll try one more time, and if I don't manage to catch it then, I'll give up, the girl decided. 'Kitty-kitty', she said to the animal. Again, she got quite near to it, but, when she was close enaugh to grab it, the cat ran away. Hmph... I can't be the only one without a cat in class... so, I've gotta try again. 'Come on, I promise I won't do anything bad to you', the girl replied, willing to add 'or at least I'll try'.

Eyeing the tortoiseshell cat, Iris slowly shook off her woolly cardigan, not bothering to remover her Head Girl badge from the chest of it. Placing it on the floor, Iris then took off her charm bracelet - being careful not to startle the cat with it. Crouching down, the Head Girl crawled near to the cat and held the bracelet out, jangling it so it'd catch the cat's attention. Lou (yes, that was the cat's real name. He might be feral, but he remembered his name!) wasn't happy. No. He'd been TRAPPED and locked away, then just THROWN out into the Hallway. Worst of all, it stank of CAT NIP! Lou was allergic to the stuff! He trotted down the corridor, trying to find a cat nip-free spot. Then he noticed students running out after them. Oh no! They were trying to catch the cats! Lou quickly ran under a bench, hoping they wouldn't find him. Jingle jangle jingle jangle... Oooh. What's that? The cat peeked his head out from under the bench, and saw the source of the noise. It was a pretty noise maker. Crouching down low, the cat stuck it's bottom in the air and begun to shake it's tail. Oh yes, he was going to get that noise maker...
Aha! Yes! Iris grinned as she watched the cat notice the bracelet, AND as he started to follow it with his eyes. Keeping her gaze focused on the cat, Iris groped behind her with her free hand for her cardigan. "C'mere Mr Cat... C'mon. Chh chhh, chhh..."
It didn't take long for the cat to pounce at the bracelet... nor did it take long for him to attack Iris's HAND instead of the bracelet. "OWWW!!!!! You stupid cat!!" Dropping the bracelet AND the cat, Iris held her hand close to her chest. Damn... AHHH. That REALLY hurt! Feral cats have reeeeeaaally long claws! She looked down at the cat - it was now happily playing with her bracelet. Oh, Iris was SO glad that her cats weren't like this.
She picked up her cardigan and opened it up, then threw it over the cat. WHAT WAS THIS?! It had gone completely dark! Lou looked up, and found himself trapped. That silly human was trying to catch him!! She'd LURED him with this noise maker! Ohh.... this was exactly why he HATED them! Next thing he knew, Lou was being picked up by the middle by some big human hands!
He lashed about and wriggled and meow'd. He waved his claws in the direction of the human, he kicked his hind legs at her. He tried curling up in a ball around her hands to be able to bite them. But it was all USELESS. This human seemed to know what she was doing. It was like she'd WORKED with cats before!
Owww!! Ow, ow oww!!! Clutching the cat close to her, Iris wrapped it up as much as she could with her cardigan. This probably meant the cardigan would be rendered uselessly unwearable but that was the least of her worries right now. SHE WAS GETTING SCARRED BY THIS BLOODY CAT. As it hissed and meow'd, and kicked, and wriggled, Iris just made her grip firmer until she was holding it like a baby over her shoulder. "Will you give it a rest, already??! You stupid cat!" Grumpily, Iris stomped her way back to the classroom. OOOH. She HATED this man!

Before he cause say 'hold on' to Neptune the cat had begun to move. He needed to do wandless magic or something! Or maybe... he paused.
His green eyes landed on a plant thing that a bunch of kittens were fighting for. Without much thought, he ran toward the cats and ripped a piece of the catnip. "Here kitty, kitty." In less than a couple of minutes the tabby had took the bate and walked right into his arms.

Hopefully whatever was next wasn't too bad, he mused to himself. Animals were used in transfiguration but they usually remained unharmed...right? Well they would see when they got back into the classroom, they would just have to wait and see and if it was too much, he and Mina could always sick the catnip-crased animal on the crazed professor...then maybe HE'd learn.
It was a quiet meow but it was a happy one and that was certainly something in the right direction and a plus to work with. As the cat picked at the cat nip being held out to it, Simon purposely spilt some of the capnip which he held onto the floor in front of him. They needed the feline to get close enough to be able to get ahold of before it had a chance to run away. "See we give gifts not punishment..." he mused absently trying not to sound too stupid. They were already trying to bait a cat after all.

Then she heard Nika's screams, and she turned around to see her partner on the floor covered in a few cats. Sierra raised her eyebrows in surprise then hurried over. By the time she got there, though, Nika had shoved all of the cats off and captured one of them. "My turn," Sierra repeated, more than determined to get a cat now that Nika had one. Her partner had already attracted a group of them, though, and so Sierra simply reached down and captured one. Pretty effortless, really, now that Nika had down all the work. "Great," Sierra remarked. "I would end up with one dressed like a Hufflepuff."
Not wanting to get attacked like Nika had, Sierra tossed the catnip to the ground. She'd let someone else have a go at it now. "Back to class it is, then," she remarked. Before she headed off, though, she turned to Nika. "Thanks for...the whole partner thing." Yes, she could be nice. Then she turned and walked back into class.

Keeping her eye on the cat, Mina remained as still as possible. She didn't trust the cat as much as it trusted her. That thing was still doped up on that catnip and merlin knew what it might do. It reminded her of a caged animal moments ago and now it looked like a calm little thing. It was ever so tricky and all she wanted to do was catch the things so Simon and her could get back in the classroom and get on with the lesson. Whatever Shaw was planning had to be a lot more safer than what they were encountering in the corridor. Well as long as it didn't involve power tools, it would be safer.
The cat continues to slowly move toward them with care. They appear to be a threat at the moment and the catnip they offered was ever so alluring. Sniffing at the small pile on floor, the cat moved even closer. "Nice kitty, if you come with us. We can get you more catnip," she added. Whether they really could, she wasn't sure. Lying to a cat wasn't a crime and it wasn't like the cat would really remember she had said it. "Yes, kitty. Come a little closer." |

But, the little creatures seemed to be running around everywhere. Would they be able to corner one cat? Anyway, it was worth a try. It was the only plan they could come up with. Okay this sounds good. When she was about to catch that cat with her hands, the bald cat scratched her. It literally scratched her. "Awwww..That hurt! You little...." she tried to catch the cat but it ran towards Viola. "Watch out." she told the younger Hufflepuff.

Catching a wild cat. how hard can that be? They're WILD. not domesticated ones. WILD. and WILD means they're more dangerous-sort of. At least not that so nice...and Heather only sighed. she has to do this, right? Even if it meant getting scratched by the felines. So rolling up her really long sleeves, she went, in search for a cat that had skidded outside of the room. so does that mean she'd have to tour the entire castle in search of one cat and- Meow
What was that? She had just started to go look for a nice cat to catch, when she heard a faint meow. She turned around, and saw nearby , a kitty. Wait a second, a kitty? Wasn't the place full of cats? WILD cats? Then maybe this is a wild kitten?
she approached the darling little thing, looking rather scared. It hissed at her. She took a step back. It is scared. She knelt on the floor and let out a hand. "Come here, i won't hurt you little fella..." little. she chuckled in her head. She herself was little. Was she going to attempt to catch this little kitty? She moved a bit closer, but the cat did not move. she took another step forward. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you..." Unless if Shaw tells them to, she still wouldn't dare.
finally the cat approached her and Heather felt relieved. "That's a nice wild cat...you're not so small..." in fact, it would be almost Kurumi's cat, Walnut's size...just a bit smaller than that cat. She petted the cat and it was calm at her. perhaps this was not a wild cat, because it was not attacking her? She was about to pick the cat up, but it scratched her hand, and it was now bleeding. In panic because of the bleeding and the pain, Heather yelped out loud a bit and pressed the red scratch on her hand over at her mouth. "That was mean..."she said to the cat as crystal beads formed at her eyes. "I said I'd be nice!" she pouted and watched as the cat narrowed its eyes on her. "Hey. Listen here, you mean cat, you're cute and all, but scratching other people for no reason at all when they're nice to you is mean." it seems the cat had an attitude so Heather had no choice. she stomped her feet, rolled down her sleeves and grabbed the cat. Wow, it was heavy, and causing scratches on her robes. What will she tell her mother about this then? "Stop it!" she told the cat. "STOP IT!" she said a little louder, accompanied by shaking her arms a bit and the cat stopped. in fact, it looked a little shocked then relaxed a bit as Heather carefully adjusted carrying it in her arms. Soon, the cat was purring. Whew. heading back to the room, finally, with a calmer cat.

"Be nice," about Lexi. But.... Neptune was grinning at him anyway. How about that innocent and pretty she-cat over there? She doesn't look so dangerous. "How about we catch that one next??" Savannah suggested as she pointed over at the corner.

As Neptune planted a small kiss on his cheek, Legend rose a brow. Neptune was up to something for sure. As he looked down at the cat, he wondered if she was planning to steal it from him. That wouldn't be fair! "Alright....but I'm not sitting next to Lexi." That would kill him.

So, catch a cat. Well, there were plenty of them. All dosed up on catnip. Fantastic.
He plopped himself down on the floor in the middle of the corridor. The thing about wild animals was, they didn't like being disturbed, but more often than not were quite inquisitive. So for the moment he was just going to sit. And let them see if they wanted to head his direction. Then he'd worry about trying to catch it when they were on his side. Sounded simple, right?
Wrong.
Despite his previous experiences finding creatures, the cats didn't actually seem to come near him. Unusual, though it probably had something to do with the sheer volume of catnip and people trying to grab the cats. Shame he didn't have any food with him, as then it'd be easy. Well, he did have some crickets he'd caught for Matilda, but he wasn't sure that'd be the first choice for a cat.
Spying some of the cat nip, he teased some apart and bruised it to release some of whatever it was the cats liked. Then he put that just in front of his crossed legs, and held his hand there loosely. He waited some more, and two of the closest cats stalked towards him. One appeared fairly docile, the other hissing. Spike stayed still as they brushed up against him, watching carefully. He could try grabbing the docile one and running, but then it probably wouldn't be docile any more, and the hissing one would chase him and be all scratchy too. Better to wait.
The docile cat rubbed up against Spike's leg, trying to get to the catnip. This didn't impress the other cat too much, however, who promptly scowled at it. Spike bit his lip. He hadn't exactly planned on being in the middle of a cat fight, over some cat nip, with his fingers right in the way. Hmm.
He pushed the catnip towards the hissing cat, whilst using his hand to caress the more docile one so it wouldn't go after it. For a moment, Spike saw a viciousness in the cat's eyes, and thought it might go for him. Fortunately it didn't, distracted by something else happening in the corridor. Phew. Carefully he lifted the docile cat into his lap, and stroked it awhile to make sure it was happy. To be fair, it looked a bit zoned out. Perhaps a bit too much catnip for one day?
"Time to take you back to class," he said after a few minutes. "And find out what we've got to do next."

"Shall we...?" he asked looking at Mina. Mina was starting to get a bit impatient with the cat. It was still playing with the catnip. She really thought maybe it would have calmed down or something and maybe come willingly with them. They really didn't seem like much of a threat to the beast and they were being a lot nicer to it than it was being to them. At least, it hadn't tried to claw them or anything to that degree. Cat scratches were not exactly something that she wanted and she had a feeling the beast probably had some sharp little claws. Sharp claws and soft flesh was just asking for trouble.
Moving a bit closer, she watched as the cat got within reaching distance. It had shown signs of being a bit calmer at least and that was progress. Standing back up completely, she smiled as her cousin scooped the beast up. "Come for the catnip, stay for the class. I like it," she nodded as she scooped up more catnip, just in case. "Yeah, let's get out of here before the other cats get any ideas." Who knew what the other cats around there would do to them. |
