Freed from detention! Woooot! *Jumps in to catch up* This aspirations things was a very confused one for Josh for he had no idea what he was going to do in the future. If one had asked him about a few weeks ago, he might have mentioned them two or three things...but now he just had no idea. None. Zero. So, probably that was the reason he had been so silent so far. Or he was just tired of the stuff he had lived through lately. He was feeling emotially tired. It was like his soul was tired of what had happened. Whatever... Eyeing the calculating Simon, Iris and the others were doing on the board and aroudn him in the class, the Gryffindor thought it would be good enough to distract himself from this not-so-nice thoughts if he had started calculating as well. Yes, that could work. So, grabbing his quill and pulling a parchment in front of him, the boy began working on his calculations. Quote:
*drops the quill* |
Picking up her quill, Vashti tapped the feather-end of it against her chin as she quietly watched some of the students calculate one of their pinnacle numbers on the board. Didn't look too hard to do. But apparently she needed her life path number as well which...was somewhere in her notes. She probably should have memorized it by now or something, but she hadn't. And she didn't really feel like looking for it either. Might take her the entire class period to find it, and what would be the point in having it then since class would be over? Simply recalculating it was much easier. So she dipped her quill in her ink bottle and began calculating in her notes. SPOILER!!: Vashti's parchment Hm... hopefully all that was right. Now just to see what it all meant. |
So far, so good. A slight smile appeared at his mumbling, once holding the book she made sure it was right-side up and turned so he could look at it if needed. One hand holding the bottom, her thumb preventing the pages to turn, her other hand at the top of the spine to keep it still as she watched him carefully finish the chart. Shifting his textbook, Katie closed it before offering it back. Wait - Little Mae? Had he just called her Little Mae? Not even Cub. Not Katie. Not Kaitlynnh. Little Mae! What, was he Tyson now?! Of ALL the things he could have called her in class.. perhaps she had thought too soon on 'so far, so good' with working together on a simple, little task. Her eyebrows raised, giving him a questioning look. "First I'm a girl, and now I'm Little Mae?" Katie didn't particularly care it wasn't the best time or place for a discussion, and SURE she was shorter than some, but he had called her LITTLE in front of the whole classroom and Professor Hadley. "I AM a young woman, Legend. Believe it or not, I'm not a little girl anymore." Sure, Ty still called her that. But he was also ten years older than her, and Legend was not. With that said, Katie turned around and went back to take her seat. Their task was complete. |

Samira bit her lip as she leaned back and-attempted-to calculate her pinnacle. SPOILER!!: Samira's Calculations Err...was this right? Samira was not so sure...she looked up at the Professor for guidance, incase she made a careless mistake. |

Katie was on a rant, as always. It was annoying. He had only called her a simple nickname. One that his older brother had given her about 10 years ago but still! Legend had only been joking. Katie, however was a living Dementor. Sucking the fun out of every moment of life. "Hmhm. That's a shame. You were more fun when you were a little girl." Even if she had been evil. All her fake crying and girl ways. As much as he hated to admit it, she had been easier to deal with then. Quote:
The Prefect found that, the Life Path Number was one of the easiest things to learn. "The Pinnacles is what Hadley is trying to teach now. Chapter 22 in your textbook. They are suppose to tell your greatest accomplishment, or something of that sort. With the Life Path Number and the Pinnacles together you'll be able to tell at what age will the specific important accomplishments happen." That was how he understood. Legend hoped he hadn't explained it wrong or too confusing. |
Kurumi watched as student performed their calculations on the board before returning to her parchment and jotted down the appropriate notes at the top of her page. This was her favorite part of the lesson: calculating. Honestly, who didn't think that numbers and calculations were the poetry of logical ideas and, dare she say it, even life? Simple really, and those who not believe that mathematics is so just do not realize how complicated life is. After all, the essence of Arithmancy is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple. Practically beaming, Kurumi picked up her quill and flashed a smile at Treyen who looked like he was about ready to check out. Giggling under her breath, Kurumi set to making her calculations and copying from her textbook the descriptions of each number. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment Finishing her calculations, Kurumi sat back and looked at her parchment for a moment trying to make sense of it all. Which pinnacle was she in right now? She supposed that that would come with Professor Hadley's next words, so she sat back for now and glanced at Treyen who seemed to be struggling a bit. Giggling once more under her breath, Kurumi not-so-subtly pushed her paper towards him with her elbow and kept her gaze looking forward as her cheeks flushed a rosy pink. |

Sophie watched intently as each volunteer went up and wrote their calculations on the board. When all of them were done Professor Hadley tasked them to calculate their own pinnacles with the use of the life path number. Opening up her text book the lioness prefect calculated her life path number first. Content with the result she concentrated hard and began with the pinnacles that would prove a bigger challenge one that she couldn't do half-heartedly. SPOILER!!: Sophie's calculations Sophie finished her calculations and put her quill down, wiping away some small beads of sweat from her face. Taking up her quill again she copied off the description for each number. Done with her work she leaned back in her seat and waited as her peers around her still worked with their calculations. |
Simon looked at the Professor, this was so confusing, he had no idea what he had to do or how to do it, all he wanted to do was easy things like adding things together which would also have been more fun than trying to find out all this information. |
Savannah almost gagged as she looked at other people's caculations. She's sooooo comfused. Savannah slowly raised her hand. "Umm...I'm comfused professor." Savvy asked slowly, hoping that she doesn't look so stupid. |
Sarah watched as the others started their calculations. Some had already finished. She stared for while and then picked up her quill. She wrote the heading, Arithmancy Lesson #2 paused for a moment. Should I really do this? she thought. She looked at the professor, nodded and then continued. SPOILER!!: Sarah's Calculations When she finished her work, she dropped the quill and folded the parchment and continued looking at others. She then turned to the professor to tell her she was done. She raised her hand timidly, Sheesh! I'm so nervous! and said, "Professor, do you think mine is right?". She opened the parchment to show it. |
Penny re-did her pinnacles but this time did her life path number too.. Looking up at the board, she was very confused with the other calculations... Putting her hand in the air.."Professor, i'm sorry, but I don't understand what Katie and Legend have done there on the board" SPOILER!!: Life Path Number & Pinnacles |
SPOILER!!: Ari's calculations The pinnacles and life path number had been, so far, only numbers and calculations, but Ariadne was very interested in what they actually represented. Curious, as always, the first year Gryffindor raised her hand: 'Professor, what do we do after we have finished calculating? How do we interpret the numbers we obtained?' Probably a silly question, which older students knew everything about. |
Ariella recorded all of her calculations. She hoped they were right. SPOILER!!: Ariella's Calculations But what did all the numbers mean? Ariella flipped through her Arithmancy textbook, hoping to find some answers. |
Fallon decided to go about and do her own figurings while the people at the board demonstrated. She actually somewhat understood this class. And it was refreshing to be able to actually use it. She decided to do her life path number again because she couldn't remember it for the life of her. She opened her text book so she could write down the meaning as well. SPOILER!!: Life Path Number Fallon looked over the work, pretty satisfied with it. Now to the pinnacles. She turned the book to that page and started to work. SPOILER!!: Pinnacles Fallon looked at her calculations. She raised her hand, mainly because she was somewhat confused. "Professor, two of my pinnacles are the same. Did I do something wrong?" She hoped not. |
Scribbling out yet another few sums, Thea settled down her quill. This was hard for her.. she had never been the best at maths problems. Scratching her ear, Thea wrinkled her nose. Why was she still finding this hard?!?! |
The moment she was looking forward to during the arithmancy lessons. The calculations. All simple math logic, wasn't it? Of course it was. One didn't really even have to think about it, which was nice, and you just have to go with the flow with the numbers. Nothing really complicated about that at all. As the others went up to do the calculations on the board, she watched for a moment or so, before setting up her notebook, quill, and ink. The calculations she may like, but it was reading what they meant that got on her nerves sometimes. Especially that family number. Pffft. SPOILER!!: Evelyn's notebook |
Professor Hadly and Fallon. <3 Going back to her seat, Iris took her quill out of her hair. She'd already done three of them, and now only had one more to do. She opened her text book to the chapter with the pinnacle meanings, and took out the journal she'd kept all her important Arithmancy work in over the last 7 years. Going to a fresh page in the journal, Iris wrote down the heading, then quickly copied down the three pinnacles she already had. Once she'd done that, she then worked out the fourth pinnacle. SPOILER!!: Iris's journal page Finding that her fourth pinnacle was 8, Iris grinned. Nearly all done, eh? Looking up at the chart on the board, Iris then matched her Life Path Number up to the chart, to see how long she'd be guided by each pinnacle. After reading the chart, she adding these details to the top of her page. The Head Girl looked across the table to Fallon when she questioned her answers to Professor Hadley, and leaned over to look at the numbers Fallon had come up with. "Nuuu, that's right. You were born on the Sixth of the Sixth... Your second and fourth pinnacles will be the same." Iris smiled at her best friend, reassuringly. Fallon was way too smart to get the answers wrong! Especially with stuff this easy. "That might just means that you're not going to complete whatever you're supposed to do in the time of the second pinnacle, but you'll have time again to do that stuff when your in the fourth one." As odd as it might sound to some, Iris really believed in the things Arithmancy taught you. There was solid ground beneath the predicting; not like Divination. She flipped open the book and looked at the meanings. 2 was the number Fallon got twice, right? Reading over that meaning, Iris frowned a bit. Eh... it was a bit of a touchy one to suggest that she might not get it right the first time she's supposed to... Ahh well. Fallon could decide if Iris was talking sense or not for herself. Turning back to her own work, Iris ran her finger down the page until she found the meaning for a pinnacle of 6. Quote:
"Under a first 6 Pinnacle, young people will tend to marry too early" Reading and rereading that sentence, Iris blinked a couple of times. She always said she wanted a really big family, but the book worded it like marrying early was going to be a mistake! And besides, how could she marry too early? That was certainly something Aaron seemed to have no thoughts about... he seemed comfortable where they were now. Either way, the pinnacle was suggesting that she was most probably going to be married with kids before she turns 33... and being honest, The Head Girl wasn't sure if she wanted to be ecstatic or terrified by that. |

Rummaging through his messenger bag, Salander finally pulled out his quill and enough parchment to get some number crunching down. It looks to be just date of birth and stuff, which he is very thankful for since he really doesnt want another crick in the neck trying to decode his name... SPOILER!!: Salander's parchment |

They really did need to get to work on their project again. It'd be a good opportunity to Quote:

Wait--they had to calculate their Life Path Number and their Pinnacles?! Well that was asking just a little too much, now wasn't it?! Sierra hated Arithmancy. She peered around the room. She'd cheat off somebody else, but the only other person with her exact birthdate (that she knew of, at least) was her Puffer Brother, and he didn't seem to be making a move to do anything. ...the slacker. So she sighed and cracked open her textbook. It made a sound like a new book being opened for the very first time. She dipped her quill in ink and then got started: Text Cut: Sierra's Parchment She may have also--without realizing it, of course--doodled a little at the bottom of her parchment: http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...eyen_heart.png |
Nika looked up at Professor Hadley and then back at her parchment again. Since everyone looked like they were busy at work Nika might as well work on finding all of the pinnacles too. She sighed as she took out her book and opened it up. SPOILER!!: Nika's Parchment Nika reread her calculations before looking back up to her professor and raising her hand high in the air. "Erm is it okay if I my fourth and fifth pinnacles are the same?" She asked uncertainly. Maybe she just miscalculated or something... |
OOC: I hope I got the year right... Haha, it's hard for me to keep track of it! Okay, this shouldn't be hard. Lucas had always been interested in Arithmancy and thought he was pretty good at it, too. He didn't have his life path number handy, so he decided to just throw that in with his pinnacle calculations. Quote:
SPOILER!!: Textbook Hmm, sounded pretty much like him. And he'd always sort of secretly wanted to be a writer... Well, anyway. Pinnacles. He looked up at the board to see what the examples were, then looked back at the textbook. Alright, seemed easy enough. Quote:
His second pinnacle would be from ages 33-42. That one would be one in which he learned to become more independent. Okay, a little scary, but really not a big deal, right? The third pinnacle would be from 42-51, and it would be full of "responsibility, duty, love, and family." Ooh, this one sounded pretty good. He liked the way this one sounded from the description in the textbook. The last pinnacle would be from age 51 on. Okay, what would the last stage of his life be like? Time to be a "recluse and loner." Wait, was he gonna be old alone? He didn't like the sound of that. Although being a scholarly hermit sounded like it could be kind of fun... Right? Okay, okay, keep reading, Lucas. Great wisdom, huh? He liked the sound of that. Oh, alright. As the last pinnacle, it was full of "spiritual refinement and development during a time of inner analysis and developing of knowledge, which can be eventually shared with others." Ooh, so he'd be like a wise old guy. Awesome. Hmm. Had he gotten ahead with the interpretations? There were other people doing them, so he guessed not. Well, alright. Cool. Pretty good life he had ahead of himself. |
