As the Fall weather in Britain was still comfortable outside, Professor Hadley had cracked the windows open a bit to allow a lovely September breeze into the classroom before double checking the room setup: Several neat rows, with desks pushed together in pairs.
Once the room was set up in a way she was somewhat satisfied, Fina resumed her customary seat at the front of the room, using her wand to flick the door open. And then another wand flick on the front board:
Please take your seats and take out your textbooks, quill and parchment.
We will begin shortly.
All she needed now was students.
ooc: Lesson will officially begin in a couple hours. Remember that even if I'm not here, Hadley still is, so don't do anything you wouldn't want her to see. Lesson has begun. Any posts from now on stating about arrival WILL be punished accordingly, so please simply pretend as though you've been there all along (for your own benefit and your house)

Pffft.
Adjusting the bag on her shoulder, she raised up another mint and MAY have flicked it at Destiny's head. That was a total accident of course. It SLIPPED out of her hand towards the Slytherin's head. It had a mind of it's own! Yea...goodbye Destiny. It was too bad you weren't leaving the SCHOOL though. Grumbling, she did took a deep breath and smirked. Hehe.
Now she could leave.
Bwaha!
Destiny noticed Evelyn stumble a bit and she couldn't help but laugh. Too bad she wasn't closer to the Professor's desk and too bad she didn't actually fall and clonk her head on the side of it. She'd have to stay in the hospital wing and wouldn't have to be looked at anymore.
But, it wasn't Evelyn's head that was getting hit, it was her own.
Hit with a mint! Scoffing, Destiny reached up to rub the spot on her head before turning around to Evelyn. The girl was soo lucky Professor Hadley was still in the room. She didn't know what she would have done otherwise, but it would not have been nice. Huffing instead, she adjusted the bag on her shoulder and stalked her way out of the classroom.
She needed chocolate.

Satisfied when the mint hit Destiny's head, Evelyn looked quite pleased with herself as she adjusted the bag on her shoulder once again. Hmph. Her smug expression grew as Destiny only huffed and left the room. That's RIGHT! One point for Evelyn, ZEROOOOOO for Ms. Huff and Puff over there.
Picking up another mint since, well she suddenly realized she threw her own at Destiny, the Slytherin glanced over her shoulder to Hadley before quickly making her way out of the room. It would be best to leave before she could say anything about that, which she did just that. And if she did, she would be sticking with her story that she made up in her mind: It was Destiny's fault.
See? It's fool proof. And made her smile.
Jooosh! Teehee, let's goooo. Goodbye to yooouuu Professor Hadley.
Seeing that most of the students seemed more than ready for the homework assignment, and perhaps to get out an enjoy the fresh air, Josephina was just about to flick her wand at the board with a fresh writing of the assignment when she heard something she did NOT expect to hear near the end of her lesson.
"The homework will be may submitted to myself anytime before finals week," Hadley explained, before using a duplicating charm for the assignment to appear on the board:
Quote:
* Write a poem (paragram) that has some underlyng theme(s) present related to your house and/or its characteristics/values.
* Remember to use the Pythagorean Number System, as found in chapter two of the textbook, to add up the values of each line. You might need to tweak certain words/grammar in order to get the desired symmetry, but there should be some sort of pattern in the numerical value of each line.
Lame Example:
ALL HOUSES ARE GREAT (70)
PROVIDING YOU WITH FUN (114)
READ A BOOK; DON'T BE LATE (70)
As you can see, the first and third lines have equivalent numerical values. They happen to rhyme too, but that isn't really necessary (more of an added bonus)
* Minimum 6 lines recommended
* Worth 10 points, but opportunity for extra credit points for OUTSTANDING efforts.
* Due by Finals Week, so you have some time to think on this assignment since it will be time consuming and should take some creativity/effort with regards to word usage =)
* Follow all Arithmancy homework submission guidelines found in my announcements thread
Moving toward the door, as she set a basket of peppermints for them to take one (or a couple) on their way out. "Thank you all for an enjoyable lesson and class dismissed." Until next time, at least.
Zara quickly jotted down notes on the homework, and added a few more information. Whew, class was over. That was fast, but fun indeed.
She looked over at a quick scan of her notes, seeing if she had missed anything.

First Year – Gryffindor Lesson One – Paragram
Number Mysticism ~ began in Ancient Greece hundred of years ago; 6th century BC Pythagoras ~ he began the number mysticism
***Numbers have power; but do not control events
***Coincidences happen Mere Coincidence ~ two different events happening that seem to have a connection to each other
***Good example by Head Boy Finlay: “I might have life path number of 1 = life takes me down at road of independence. My life could go that way, but it could be a coincidence and not just because of my life path number.” <<Whew, it was hard to write that one, had to write fast. Paragram ~play on words (wordplay); imply words to be graceful and is commonly used in literature like in poetry where all lines have same sum
***According to a student: adding numbers would equate to Numerology and Arithmancy
***Studying about coincidences associated with minor art form w/c is not used anymore Gematria ~ what Ancient Greeks call Arithmancy; where the practice of assigning numbers to letters and words to understand mystical significance
Five Words Synonymous To Me
1. G+R+I+F+F+I+T+H+S
7+9+9+6+6+9+2+8+1=57
2. P+I+A+N+O
7+9+1+5+6=28
3. E+I+R+W+E+N
5+9+9+5+5+5=38

5. G+R+Y+F+F+I+N+D+O+R
7+9+7+6+6+9+5+4+6+9=68
Sentence
Music is my life; and playing the piano is my passion.
MUSIC ~4+3+1+9+3=20
IS ~ 9+1=10
MY ~ 4+7=11
LIFE ~ 3+9+6+5=23
AND ~ 1+5+4=10
PLAYING ~ 7+3+1+7+9+5+7=39
THE ~ 2+8+5=15
PIANO ~ 7+9+1+5+6=28
IS ~ 9+1=10

PASSION ~ 7+1+1+1+9+6+5=30
20+10+11+23+10+39+15+28+10+11+30
Total: 207
Additional about Paragrams
~ more about symmetry like in poetry (all lines have same sum; same construction of parallel passages)
***This lesson focused on symbolism only.
***Today, practices transferring letters to numbers to discover numerical value of words and sentences
Reminder: Homework #1 ~ Write a poem/paragram.
Theme: Gryffindor/My house
Use Pythagorean Number System (Chapter 2 of textbook)
*Must have pattern in numerical value of each line i.e. 70, 144, 70 or rhyming
*Minimum 6 lines
Due Date ~ Finals Week
'Guess everything's there.' she thought as she rolled the parchment carefully and placed it in her bag along with her inks, quills, and textbook. Another homework coming up, Zara planned to start it today, maybe at the Gryffindor study table. Yesiree.
Grabbing her bag, she stood up and walked to the door and said a quick, "Goodbye, Professor." Zara bowed, like a nod, smiled and walked outside on her way to her next class.

Homework is good job for me now and this own time.

Good morning, Professor Hadley? Was that some kind of joke? Hazel eyes flickering in the direction of the voice, she blinked a few times to make sure they were not playing tricks on her. And they weren't. A young Slytherin REALLY had just decided to enter her classroom and make herself comfortable RIGHT AT THE END of her lesson.
"Miss Riddle, while I do appreciate your contributions," They were enlightening and accurate mostly. "Your tardiness has not gone unnoticed. 15 points from Slytherin." Perhaps a bit steep per her usual lateness point deductions, but she's also never had students show up this late either and announcing their late arrival with a sense of confidence.
Dear, I went to class then when I was allowed and the nuances of life as you see carefully familiarized with all information before - which also have taken a long time. But you have responded meanly
!
At least when I thanked for the lesson, you would react, perhaps another situation could begin.
Now I'd love to have you your hair out time after time for myself, honestly, when classes finished. Want to make myself a bandage.
After all this, we are all humans, because it is the truth!
Do you understand HOW long I have update own poems, for example, on stihi.ru as valeria77 .
Homework in this discipline I will do for that, probably. By the way, classes and discipline are different concepts.
I'm not sure, but I think you understand me.

It definitely took Josephina a bit longer than it should have to realize that a pair of OLDER Slytherins had decided to cause a commotion as they left the classroom. Couldn't they wait until OUTSIDE her classroom before they involved their obvious personal problems? No.
Confusion swept over her, she made a note to TALK to Evelyn about it later. And maybe Destiny too if Evelyn's answers weren't convincing. SOMETHING was up and perhaps she ought to consult her book on Numbers for Teenage Dramas for advice on this one if only such a book existed.
SPOILER!!: Anasta Riddle

As everyone was almost out of the classroom, Josephina readied herself to lock it up when she noticed the lingering of the young Slytherin. Who thanked her for the lesson, but then seemingly took it back?
"My dear, no need for such overreactions and you're quite welcome. I'm glad you have enjoyed the lesson content," Fina began, rather unsure about this one. She didn't particularly appreciate the girl telling her not to discipline in her lessons though. "Discipline is necessary though to keep order and control in the lessons," she reminded the girl, a small smile playing on her lips.
"Have a nice day and see you next time." Yup. Sweet, simple, to the point.

Just before leaving, Zara decided to turn back and approached the professor. "Professor, I was just curious. About the homework. The poem we're gonna make is a paragram?" She asked, her left eyebrow raised in confusion. "That means...like the poem is a wordplay? Changing letter into.. Ahh, I don't know how to put it into words. But I just don't get it." She admitted, a slight frown on her face.

Okay, so everyone was out, right? She could lock up? But just as Josephina was about to do that, a young Gryffindor first year turned back around and asked a question. Startled slightly, she smiled at the sweet little lion. "Yes... Sort of. We're calling it a paragram because of the fact that the sums of each line should be equal ... or some sort of pattern the total values of each line," Fina explained, hoping this clarified it some. "So it IS a poem, mostly. But it's a paragram because the numerical values of each line is pertinent."

OHH, so that's what it was. Zara smiled and nodded to the professor. "Oh, thank you Professor. Good day!" She said, as she exited the door, and off she went, going to the library.
