Hecate was tired. She hadn't had a good evening. In fact this whole week had been trying. She needed a vacation and she needed one soon.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
Selina flinched slightly as she took the leeches, all four of them, and made sure to make each cut perfectly length wise. She closed her eyes as she sliced each one and then she peeped open and eye and saw that she had done it right. She let out a brief sigh and sat up a little straighter. Potions wasn't that difficult, she could do this. She reached out for her quill that she had stuck behind her ear, but all her hand met was a huge mess of huge and puffy red hair, "Merlin!"
Shaking it off Selina finished up cutting the leeches in five and then added it to the potion. She made sure to stir it clockwise once and only once. Then she added 16 scruples one at a time. To her surprise nothing blew up and she had no MAJOR issues, minus the hair. This was a very good sign thus far, so when was it all going to go wrong?
While she waited she looked up at the people who were partnering up and saw that Violet was avoiding Selina. How could she blame her? Selina was a walking time bomb in this class. In any other subject Selina would be the most logical choice for a partner, but here, in this setting, it was a safety hazard to be within ten feet of her. So she nodded at Violet in understanding and looked around for another partner.

She asked meekly, "Anyone need a partner?"
Gwen took the four leeches and sliced them length wise with her silver knife, exactly like Lafay told them to. Then, the ravvie tried to cut them. And that was…how, exactly? 5 pieces per leach? How is that? Ah, right!, she decided after a short break of thinking.
She added everything in the cauldron and checked out what she had to do next. Stirring… Clockwise? You mean… to the right? When she was done with this step, she added the 16 scruples. Done! Now what? Wait- WHAT? I have to pick a partner? Come oooon!, the girl thought a bit disappointed. Then, she looked around, hoping she could spot someone normal. Hmm… how about—you?, Gwen asked herself as she spotted a second year Gryffindor. Great!
‘Do you still need a partner?’, Gwen asked the girl. Hopefully.

Jonathan, Ness thought, she hadn't really ever met a Jonathan, but she had always wanted to. "Nice to meet you!" said Ness smiling then carrying on. "Im Renesmee, Renesmee Dixon, but you can call me Ness or Nessie like everyone else!" She then thought of turning to the front to wait for the next instructions, but then she changed her mind. "So um what year you in?" asked Ness shyly.
Jonathan stared as she transferred her stuffs next to him. She should beware you know. Jonathan is very OCD when it comes to things and being untidy. Well, his area right now is so clean that even the ingredients for the potions are well in placed at the side and the knife already washed and clean. Potions book opened at the page where the procedures are written.
All in place.
"Renesmee" he repeated her name. Jonathan doesn't want to call her by her nickname. "I'm in the fourth year" he replied back. He returned back to his cauldron.
"Let's move on. Use your tongs to remove the stewed lacewing flies and place then into your cauldrons, one at a time. Use your glass stirrer to stir them in. Twelve times counter clockwise after they are all in." She demonstrated. "After that, you will add the ounce of antimony." She added.
Charlie continued with her potion and listened to the professor's instructions.
Tongs. Lacewing flies. Charlie took the tongs and picked up the stewed Lacewing flies one by one. They were quite fiddly, so Charlie made sure they got into the cauldron correctly. After they were all in, she took the glass stirrer and stirred twelve times counter clockwise.
Next step, once of antimony. Ok, Charlie thought as she poured it in.

She said and watched them.
Length wise? That meant head to tail right? Charlie supposed it did and started to cut up the leeches. One leech, two leech, three leech, four. Whoops..the last one was slightly smaller than the other one and she could only manage to cut it into four parts. She supposed it couldn't make that much of a difference and dropped them all in.
Stir once clockwise. Done.
Charlie then added the 16 scruples one after the other. That should be it brewing, she thought, as she stepped back from her cauldron and looked around for someone partnerless.

She then added her 16 scruples, one at a time as she was told. As it began to brew she first looked at Selina & Elektra wondering if she should be partners with one of them, but because of certain reasons that could benefit Violet's grade or slaughter it, she thought against it. If she chose Elektra, Violet knew that she could get a really good grade and that Professor Lafay wouldn't bite her head off. And if she chose Selina, Violet knew deep down something would explode, somebody would get hurt, or worse, Violet's hair would end up a different color. But instead of Violet deciding to pick one of her best friends, she thought she would just avoid the whole situation and chose somebody else. Violet then began to curiously look around for anyone who she could possibly partner up with.
Penny saw a second year puff sitting away from her, and the girl still had no partner.. walking over to her she said "Hi I'm looking for a partner too - do you wanna team up?"

Obviously.
Running her fingers through her hair, she held a small piece of it, bringing it forward so she could have a better look. Hmmm, shiny. Before she could get distracted, she pulled out one strand of hair, and set it on the table in front of her. Someplace where she could watch at all times. She would be guarding that piece of hair like her life depended on it! DEPENDED ON IT!
Well, until she had to set up her cauldron. Then she had to ignore it for a moment or so.
SPOILER!!: and...again
Using 'scourgify' on her cauldron, she set it on top of the burner before just about reaching for her bag. Meep? It wasn't there. Why wasn't it there?
Looking around, she sighed quietly when she saw Josh had it. Why couldn't he bring his own books to class hmm? She didn't mind sharing, but really, he had a book didn't he?
...
Oh wait, that's why she'd let him. She loved the smirks on his face. Shaking her head somewhat, though with a small smile on her face, Evelyn slowly turned her attention away from the Gryffindor, and to her cauldron. Ingredients. Boiling water. Right. Cleaning. She did the cleaning part, and apparently she did the 'being distracted' part too, so it was good both of those two were done. Especially before starting to brew this potion.
Pointing her wand into her cauldron, she cast a silent 'Aguamenti' before looking around. Well no. She looked at Josh. Who else would she look at? Cookie Girl? Pffft.
Sitting back down, she stopped the spell before casting 'Incendio' underneath, making sure it was high enough to boil water. Meep, and with Josh back to guard that little strand of hair on their table, she could go get her ingredients! Or...not. "Thank you." she muttered, watching Josh go back up to get even more ingredients before looking down to the ones he gave her.
The...best...boyfriend. Ever. Totally. Opening up her notebook, before she wrote down anything though, she made a big heart at the top with JOSH right in the middle. See, he was so much the best, that he got a heart surrounding his name.

Evelyn Flores
Slytherin - 6th
Potions Class 3
Polyjuice Potion - Allows the drinker to take the form of another (person).
Ingredients
Water
A piece of the person you're turning into (most commonly a string of hair)
12 Lacewing flies (stewed 21 days)
Leeches
1 Pinch of powdered bicorn horn
25 pulverized knotgrass blades
16 scruples Fluxweed picked at full moon
One ounce of crude antimony
Shredded Boomslang skin (whole body)
Three drachms of pulverised Sal Ammoniac (not yellow kind)
Filings and rasplings of Saltpeter and Mercury and Mars (Potassium nitrate, Mercury, and Iron bits)
Procedure
1. Add water and bring to a boil.
Steps Taken
1. Cleaned cauldron with Scourgify.
2. Added water.
3. Lit flame underneath cauldron with Incendio.
Smiling at her ''Thank you'' before he got back to the shelves to pick up ingredients for himself, Josh realised that people had already started, for example Evelyn, with the brewing already and he only had a newly cleaned cauldron. Eh...he needed to be quick then. Glancing over the she-snake's textbook again he also got a sight of her parchment on which she was taking notes of her potion brewing steps. Well...this was probably a standard procedure in this class yet for some reason Josh couldn't remember if he had ever did that before. Apparently he had to check his trunk the next time to see if he had any past potions class notes.
''Hope i will manage brewing this one'' he said as he took his wand out the holster aiming it inside the brass cauldron to fill it with some pure water. Yup, pure water. ''Aguamenti'' His dark eyes watched the thin line of water filling the cauldron and yes since it was thin and slow it took some of his time to fill the cauldron as he wished. Pfffft. He had no idea why he was so bad at this charm. It seemed to be a simple one anyway. But...the water was never enough.
Once the cauldron was full, the boy pointed the want to the burner ''Incendio'' See? He had good fire. Why did not the other charm work? This was...weird. ''I think there's something i'd like to ask you...later.'' the lion boy told the snake girl next to him. Maybe she had some idea about it. Or at least about how to improve it.

There...the first individual step for the potion had been just demonstrated. It meant he needed to catch up with Lafay and the rest of the class. Or just...whatever. Taking a deep breath, he eyed the lacewing flies on the working station...or what was left from the flies...they looked weird. Grabbing the tongs right after scourgifying it and wondering why they were not doing this by hands, would there be germs on their hands to jump into the potion?, Josh dropped all the 12 stewed flies into the boiling water one by one.
Now, it was time to stir the stewed flies into the boiling water. And apparently they were using a glass stirrer this time instead of the common wood ones. Why that again? The wood spoiled the potion? This potion was...so different. Eh. Once he was done stirring 12 times, he picked up the veil of antimony and added it inside, of course paying extra attention to the rule that it should be neither more nor less than one ounce.

Slicing and cutting leeches with a silver knife? And they were going to drink this later? Or people drank that? To be honest it did not look or sound delicious. He had already been reluctant about looking like someone else and now the thought of drinking it had started to become a problem. Maybe he could take eating them one by one but...when you slice them...eh...whatever.
Placing the tongs and glass stirrer on the station, he picked up the silver knife this time and of course his wand, ''Scourgify'' he murmured. Everything had to be clean, right? It did not hurt anyone after all. Then he started to work on slicing and cutting the leeches as Lafay had told them to do so. Well...okay. It did not took much of his time as he realised when he now had 20 pieces of leeches. He counted again. Yes, 20. Then unlike the flies, he added them all, all the 20 pieces, into the boiling potion before stirring once, clockwise.
Now it was the time for the scruples. And they were to be added one by one just like the flies. Fine. Picking up one at a time, Josh dropped them into the cauldron carefully one after one and another and the other. So, all 16 was in the cauldron.
Now to...
Find a partner?
What?
Looking up from his work, the Gryffindor boy's eyes quickly moved on his girlfriend. He did NOT want anyone, who was NOT her, to look like her. He did not. And also he didn't want her to look like ANYONE ELSE. So, he couldn't let anyone take her as a partner but...on the other hand it was going to feel weird to be a girl. Hmmm...
That was...impossible to decide. And not to mention odd. Therefore, unable to say anything he just stared at Evelyn, hoping she would offer...something about this.

Selina turned her head to the side as she saw a First Year Ravenclaw walking up to her. At first she was slightly confused as to what she wanted, but she couldn't contain her pleasure when the girl inquired if they could be partners. She smiled broadly at the girl and said, "Yeah I do. I'm Selina, Selina Skylar that is and you are?"
All the while as she spoke Selina pulled up and extra seat to the table and gestured for the girl to come and take a seat. In all honesty Selina had only two friends in Ravenclaw- Hugo and Kyle. She had a ton of Hufflepuff friends and a load of Gryffindor friends and she had a few Slytherin friends. But she was always lacking in the Ravenclaw department. Not that she was being presumptious and saying these two would be friends, but at least she would get to know another 'Claw.
"Splendid!" Eino exclaimed happily. "Perhaps we will need a part of each other's body... You can have my finger." Eino said wiggling his pinky. Or maybe she could use some of her hair, but people usually don't like hairs on things they consume, so maybe she would be more comfortable with a pinky. Hopefully, he would find a way to regrow it later, otherwise it would be awfully lonely for the other four fingers.
Lucy looked at the boy as he spoke to her. She was really shocked when she heard she'll have to have his finger and said "What? Really? Don't think that's a good idea, i can't have your finger. That is so not good to hear. Hmm, maybe we should try something else...." she said. She wasn't a monster to have a human beings finger, and anyways what would he do without his one finger. Professor had to have something else to give her students other than a finger. That was so ridiculous. There was no way she was going to have his finger. Then she looked at the boy and said "My name is Lucy. Nice meeting you." saying that she smiled and they looked at her potion for some time and said "Are you sure you would like me to have your finger?" she asked curiously.

Ness made sure everything was neat and tidy, as it was kind of in her nature. She was quite a clean freak, but she wasn't that bad, except for the fact that she always carried handsanitiser where ever she went. She then looked at Jonathan's stuff he seemed to be neat and tidy too. Ness liked this as it was also better to work in a mess free area.
Nessie turned staright to face him, when he called her name, a little surprised. Ness thought so, he deffinatley looked older then her, he looked like he could be a fourth, or fith year. "Oh..Um Im a first year!" said Ness then turning back to the proffessor waiting for her next instuction.

‘I’m Gwen. Gwen Greene’, the girl replied grinning. Great! I got the partner, then. Hopefully it won’t be bad working with her. But… wait a second! Maybe we don’t need to work together. All of us need something from a person for our potion. That means… I’ll be you?, she thought, hoping the Gryffindor wouldn’t notice how puzzled she was.
‘Um.. thanks’, she told Selina as she took a seat. Then, a moment of silence followed. The first year was indeed puzzled. Can we talk? This is a class- I do NOT want to put Lafay in the position of taking points from my house! Noooo!

Starting to write down her steps in her notebook, Evelyn paused for a moment when Josh's voice reached her ears. Ask her something? Later? As in...not in the classroom full of people?
Glancing over to him, she frowned just a bit before nodding. "Yea, sure." she muttered, before going back to writing in her notebook. Meh, now that was going to be stuck on her mind for the rest of the class.
What did he want to ask!?

...
...Whaaat?
He wasn't...staring at her because of the whole...partner...thing, was he? Because she didn't even want to drink the polyjuice potion, much less turn into a guy. Even if that guy was her boyfriend. Clearing her throat softly, she smiled a little bit, enough to make her look a tad uncomfortable before looking elsewhere. Maybe if she didn't look at him, she didn't have to answer.
Eh.

OH LOOK! They were continuing the lesson. Aw well, she will just have to talk to Josh later. This potion required her full attention and all..
Scourgifying her wooden spoon quickly before adding the 3 drachms of pulverized sal ammoniac, the Slytherin folded the ingredient into the mixture, grimacing at it's...weirdness. Why do potions have to look so gross? Seriously. Weren't they witches and wizards? Couldn't they somehow make it look NOT so gross?
Continuing to fold the mixture, glancing at the hair on her table every now and then, Evelyn added in the pulverized knotgrass. Just focus on the potion. No looking at Josh!

Wha?? Wha's it called? Drachms of pulverized Sal Ammoniac? Ehhh...potions always has very long names for the ingredients, which are very hard to remember. Savannah hoped that they will never have a test on the names.
Savannah added drachms of pulverized Sal Ammoniac to her potion. It's actually getting pretty good! Though the color looked disgusting, who on Earth in their right mind would drink this? Even if it's something really important!

Aurora quickly checked that her knotgrass was properly pulverised, then took her Ammoniac and added it to her potion, immediately beginning to fold with her wooden spoon. When this was done she kept folding and, with her left hand, sprinkled in the knotgrass.

Simon turned from Jacob to bring his attention back to the front of class when Lafay spoke once more getting their focus back to continue on with the lesson. His fate needed to be sped up apparently and with a soft sigh to himself returned to his work. The seventh year added the pulverized Sal Ammoniac, picking up his wooden spoon while he did so and folding the additives into the mixture . Once he was finished with one pulverized ingrediant he moved onto the other...the knotgrass, pulverizing it as he added it into his cauldron.

Penny smiled at the girl called Violet and shook the hand offered....then nodded as she listened to the instructions.. ..Looking at the Sal Amnoniac, lifting it in her left hand the wooden spoon in her right..
Immediately folding the new ingredient into the brew.... reached for the knotgrass blades that had been ground down to a powder - stirring it through instantly...
Satisfied, that it was completely mixed through, Penny looked up at the professor awaiting further instructions....
She sneaked a peak across at Violet, with a smile - saw the girl was ok with the potion as well.... Glad she had a partner now, in order to complete the potion..

She said raising her voice a tad, "It's time to add the 3 drachms of pulverized Sal Ammoniac, when you do, have your wooden spoon ready and fold the ingredient into the mixture." She said demonstrating, "and do not stop folding until you sprinkle in the pulverized knotgrass blades." She used the spoon skillfully with one hand and with the other she added the knotgrass. "It's dried, so it's easier to pulverize."
Jordan listened up and watched Professor Lafay as she instructed the class of students with steps on what should be added next in the Polyjuice Potion. He had his wooden spoon ready, as instructed, and added the three drachms of pulverized Sal Ammoniac into the Cauldron. Another word, he had trouble saying. He thought to himself, "Man, this potion is really complicated. Definitely not a really easy potion to make. Especially for a first year like myself, with no experience with Potions."
He looked over as Rose was adding the instructed ingredients into her cauldron, and he waited until Professor Lafay instructed them with more instructions.

She sneaked a peak across at Violet, with a smile - saw the girl was ok with the potion as well.... Glad she had a partner now, in order to complete the potion..
Violet smiled back the girl kindly very happy to have a partner. Then she heard Professor Lafay and listened carefully to her next instructions. Violet didn't waste any time and added the 3 drachms of pulverized Sal Ammoniac, with her wooden spoon ready. Then she began to fold the ingredient into her mixture. She did not stop folding as she was told and then she sprinkled in the pulverized knotgrass blades. Violet smiled again very happy to see she did it right, then she looked over at Penny and saw she had just finished too and did it right a well. She gave her a friendly smile again.
Alfie did as she was instructed and started putting in the Sal Ammoniac, folding it with her wooden spoon for as long as the Professor did. Then, with her blonde eyebrows furrowed, she put in all of the pulverized knotgrass blades, trying her best to continuously fold the potion as she did so. After all of this was in her cauldron, she allowed her free hand to rest while her right hand still continued to stir the potion. She hoped she was doing this right; potions was never her best subject.

Perhaps the Slytherin was really trying to turn over a new leaf? After all, it had been Sierra who had been the one to ask to be partners in Ancient Runes and it was here doing it again now. Surely, this was a gesture of friendship!
"S-Sure," she nodded. After all, what was the worst that could happen?
...and there was that stuttering again. Why was it that Kurumi only stuttered around certain people? Sierra had never quite been able to figure that one out, but mehh. It wasn't she surrounded herself with the Gryffindor girl often. Just when it suited her, like it did now. Upon Kurumi's response, Sierra tilted her head in acknowledgment and then gave a quick, "Good," before turning back to her cauldron.

With her wooden spoon in her hand, Sierra was quick to add the Sal Ammoniac to her cauldron. She folded the ingredient into the mixture exactly as Professor Lafay had. Or, really as close to it as she could. One day, she wanted to be as good as her Head of House was at this sort of thing, but she had a long way to go. A really, really long way to go. A few moments later, she was sprinkling in the knotgrass blades.
With those steps done, she passed another grin to Kurumi Hollingberry.
