Alfie's blue eyes widened as the Professor addressed her and a few other people, explaining that she wanted all of her students to greet her as they entered her room. She didn't know that! Why hadn't she known that?! She quickly gave her an apologetic smile, "Sorry Professor," the girl responded politely before listening as the lesson continued. She tried her best to think of where one would be able to find Potions ingredients around the Hogwarts grounds, but she couldn't think of anything off the top of her head.

Ok, see, there was something VERY ODD going on here. HOW, in the name of MERLIN, did the professor know that she was a Miss Di Marco? HOOWWWW?! Ryden slid lower in her seat, frowning at the table as she tried to remember if she'd ever met all the faculty members of Hogwarts before. If she had, she didn't recall it and she dearly hoped Father didn't have anything to do with that.
Perhaps they were watching them? A big brother type thing? But, this was the SLYTHERIN professor - shouldn't she be just a little bit cooler than that? Hmm. Or maybe there was a Nineteen Eighty-Four theme going on. THAT could be kind of cool.
At any rate, when the professor asked her question, Ryden came up blank, mostly because the easy things had already been said. And because "water from the lake" was an unacceptable reply, even for her.

The younger blonde that has seated herself next to her had forgotten to greet Professor Lafay and got a small reprimand. Smiling encouringly over that her Sophie tried to let her know that it was 'okay'. Nothing to worry just to partcipate in the lesson. The potions mistress had an ever-changing temper which you needed to be vigilant of. Raising her hand as the first question was put to the class. "If Professor McFusty has any goats down in the creature pens we can extract bezoars from them. Bezoars cure most poisions." Which should be good to have on hand in the potions store room. "I've also seen I think horned slugs on the grounds near the tree houses which are used in the boil-cure potion." Taking down her hand Sophie she waited to hear other suggestions.

Hands clasped together, Aiden closes her eyes while listening to everyone else's answers. Then, she starts to play with her fingers with both eyes still shut.
Thanks to the ideas obtained from other students, Aiden is trying to simplify her explanation. "Beetle's eyes... I'm sure we can find beetles in the schoolground," Aiden gives another answer, but still thinking. "Of course we can find caterpillars in the garden and cockcroaches... Behind wardrobes? She raised her hand, eyeing the list of ingredients, and then thinking up of a possible potion they could take from all of it. "With most of the plant ingredients, such as the Mandrakes and dittany... I believe you could make a powerful restorative draught--adding a bezoar could help too if it's used as an antidote if I'm correct," she stated still with a slightly smirky attitude but trying her best to participate in the lesson.
"Now, if it's a serious physical injury, maybe using ingredients from the Befuddlement Draught or the Draught of the Living Death such as Valerian roots or lovage could help turn the draught into an anaesthetic as well."

Apparently other than his description Jonathan couldn't further more explain himself to Professor Lafay. Uh. If only he had read more about those stuffs. How is it that he could never remember such things anymore? He clearly knew what the ingredient was about. Why not now? "probably they're instinct?" recently he heard these dragons were. It's because because people demand too much of it's horns.
Next question.
Jonathan carefully recalled the ingredients that were called out. "Aconite" he said "is known by it's other names as wolfsbane and monkshood" that he is sure of. He heard his father said that once "Aconite is a common ingredient for Wolfsbane potion" obviously. "That potion can be able to ease or reduce symptoms of" what was the animal or creature again? Jonathan thought... "... Lycanthropy or werewolf"
Ohhh he should also think of something creative and create his own potion... Hmmmm... He looked at his parchment and tried recalling which ingredient belonged to which potion...

There were plenty of potions that could be brewed with those ingredients, although most would need additional ingredients. Some would have to be modified, but still manageable. He raised his hand. "Getafix's Potion, also known as the Strength-Enhancing Potion, could be brewed using some of those ingredients." Of course, it wouldn't be as good as it had to be because certain ingredients were missing, but it would still work to a certain level. "Daisy roots, snake fang powder, nettles, asphodel, and bezoars, and caterpillar cocoons are common ingredients in the potion." The ingredients necessary to brew it weren't rare, but the brewing process was extremely difficult and only potion experts could achieve the perfect result. Everything else worked as a mere energy booster, which didn't last for very long.

Alex had been rather silent this lesson, mainly because he was still in a bit of shock over Lafay's...kindness? compassion? towards him in the office just a short time ago. He'd felt like he saw an entirely new side of her, and it was just...going to take some getting used to. Lost in his thoughts, he shook his head to clear away his distracting thoughts and raised his hand.
"Well dittany is used for healing, right? So you could make some sort of healing potion with that, I'm assuming," he explained.

Carr closed her eyes to think hard about the question. "Uh, well, neither ingredient is really... necessary in most potions. They can be used as correctives. If you stir in beetle's eyes in the opposite direction as your last stir, it can offset problems caused if you accidentally stirred too many times. And... tubeworms sliced the right way can be used to counteract complications created by heating your potion on a setting that lower than you should have."
