Not to far from the classroom where Arithmancy lessons are held, there is a room that looks like it has not been used properly for sixty years – or 17 years, when Professor Fox taught the subject. It has been cleaned up nicely, however, with all the dust gone, books and other objects placed neatly on the bookshelves located at the back wall of the room. The walls have been painted a lovely salmon color, with small white jasmines in a line around the middle of each wall.

The bookshelves contain various numerological texts, from specifics about a number to about calculating the map of your future, as well as several abacuses on one shelf to be used as counting aids. Please note, some of the books might be quite old, but they are well cared for, so should any harm come to them, then the price to pay will be heavy.

There is a large blackboard at the front of the room, which is charmed to write coded messages on it every once and awhile. You'll need to use your knowledge of cryptic messages, however, to translate it into English. Lining one wall is a row of windows, overlooking the Quidditch Pitch, and the opposite wall has smaller boards in which students may write out their calculations and teach each other, if desired.

The chamber may be used by students for puzzle solving and extra time to study the art of Arithmancy; all the books and tools that you should need could be found along the bookshelves. However, on the off chance that it is not there, Professor Hadley's office is right next door, so feel free to ask her for materials you may desire. All students using this room are expected to follow the honor system, and any abuse or inappropriate use of the classroom will result in immediate loss of house points and/or detention.

Rather than desks, there are several wooden tables scattered about the room in no particular arrangement with four or five chairs surrounding each table. This creates the perfect environment to bring a buddy or two to work out some difficult calculations and compare notes. You are encouraged to work with others, but do remember that cheating is NOT permitted and shall result in no house points and/or possible loss of points. There are also two [purple] armchairs located in the far corners of the room which are perfect for snuggling up with a good book or working out some homework questions.

Just remember again, Hadley's office is right next door, so keep your voices down unless of course you require her assistance.

OOC: You are welcome to use this thread as a free roleplay area, but just be warned that Hadley may stop in at any given moment... so don't be doing anything you don't want her to know about. Feel free to use this to study and enhance your Arithmancy studies as well; please indicate in the title of your post if you require Professor Hadley's attention. Just remember that white jasmine is one of the flowers for the number two, which is about harmony and connecting; of which, you are all connecting your futures here at Hogwarts. And of course, all SS rules and Arithmancy-specific rules apply, always.

JP walks into the room and picks a desk to sit down at.
"These Jasmine flowers are very peaceful. Perhaps this is a perfect time to practice and look around." Maybe he could ask Professor Hadley to explain the origins of this room fully." It intrigued him.

Having had a bit of free time between classes and his quidditch duties, Simon opted to start work on his homework for the latest round of lessons. Arithmacy had been the latest and as he looked over the assignment he was reminded he needed a set of the counting sticks mentioned in class to do what he had to do.

Also a partner he reminded himself, but that I can find back in the common room or library if need be. Upon entering the lab the sixth year realized that the very room he was in was a great location itself since if he needed help it was all around. Moving further into the room Simon started for where to find the Chien Tung sets.

Skipping into the room, why was she skipping again? Sakura looked around, surprised at the lack of people. Surely more people would have come here for extra Arithmancy stuff besides Sakura. Did people not love the subject? It was one of the best taught at Hogwarts. Surely more people would like it!

Oh well. Technically she was just here to do her homework.

Sitting down at a wooden table she put her bag down beside her and placed her homework on the table. Scanning the page Sakura was tempted to bang her head against the desk. She needed a partner for this. Why did she not read it before she came here?

"Does anyone need a partner for the homework?" Sakura asked, loud enough for anyone else in the room to hear her? She really hoped that someone did because otherwise she'd need to go to the common room or something. Which wasn't part of her plan.

Having been crouched down finding his quarry on a self, Simon's head lifted as he heard the sounds indicating he was likely no longer alone in the room. The fact confirmed as the skipping footsteps were followed by someone seated at one of the tables. "Actually I do," he answered a Chien Tung set in his hands as he straightened back up to his feet.

"As long as you don't mind working with a stranger," he added with a slight shrug as he walked closer. The boy grabbing hold of his own notes from where he had dropped it in his search. He himself didn't mind but one could never be certain about the preferences of others especially when he noticed the Slytherin markers upon the girl's robes. The rivalry had died down but some still kept it up even now.

Raven sneak in a room, what a room, then he noticed two body. how does a Slytherin do with a gryffindor. "Hello, May I join, fellas" Raven say loudly.

Ariana tentatively walked into the room. She was here to do her Arithmancy homework, but, there were only three people so far, and they all seemed to be working together.

So she decided to wait around for a bit until someone else entered. She leaned on a window sill overlooking the quidditch pitch. The jasmines' scent was nice, and she gazed over at the three students already getting out notes and such.

Looking up at the boy who offered to work with her Sakura gave him a small smile of thanks. She didn't want to have to look around for ages for a partner. Besides, he already had the sticks so she wouldn't need to get them.

"I don't mind working with a stranger. I don't know many people here anyway so most anyone I worked with would be a stranger," she replied with a small shrug, at the same time gesturing that he should sit down across from her.

Turning around at the sound of another voice, this time belonging to who she assumed was a first year, she tilted her head slightly in thought. "I don't mind as long as... what is your name?" Sakura asked, turning back to the original boy. It was only then that she noticed both were members of Gryffindor. Oh well, she felt house rivalry, and Gryffindor really didn't need to get any more points but they'd probably do the homework anyway so she might as well work with them. Besides it was only a friendly rivalry and Sakura had, had Gryffindor friends in her first year.

Finally they were joined by another a young student a Ravenclaw this time. She seemed distracted however or at least hesitant to join the group so Simon decided to take the initiative and called to her. "If you're here for the homework you're welcome to join us. Seeing as two and two would probably work better then three."

But at least now both she and Simon had put the offer out there so the girl knew she was welcome.

how about the ravvie girl, Raven decided to study arithmancy with her if she is doing homework too.

Shaking the Chien Tung set she had borrowed from Professor Bishop almost as if it was a musical intrument, Kurumi entered the room with a smile on her face seeing that there was already a small group of students present. Now she was sure to get her assignment done! Unless...HAD THEY ALL ALREADY FINISHED?!

Waving at Simon and Raven, Kurumi set her book bag on the ground. She recognized a few of the other students from classes. "D-D-D-Do you mind if I join you?" Please and thank you?

"No problem Raven, it's nice to meet you," Sakura replied as she pulled her hair up into a loose knot. For some reason she studied better when her hair was out of her face. Her fringe was still covering enough but at least the rest of her hair wouldn't be getting in her way anymore.

"So shall we get started?" she asked Simon, just assuming that they'd be working together since originally they had been going to be partners. Plus they were the eldest. Although maybe that meant that they should each pair up with a younger student each. Whatever, she would assume that she and Simon were going to be partners, if the younger girl or Raven had any issues with it, or even Simon, they could say something about it.

"Of course you can join us. The more the merrier. Truthfully we haven't even started yet. We were just about to work out groups actually. So now it looks like we'll have a trio and a pair." Sakura moved over on the bench as she spoke, placing her bag on the ground and pulling out her textbook and a spare piece of parchment Sakura got ready to work.

"You can sit next to me if you'd like. I promise I don't bite. I'm Sakura by the way, and I'm assuming you know the two boys since you're all in the same house," Sakura's voice was gentle and encouraging. She didn't want to frighten the girl, or make her feel unwelcome. She was already stuttering and since Sakura didn't know why that was she was going to be as nice as possible.

Raven waved at Kurumi, he challenge his tongue not to say her nickname to lot of people. at very most he say "Hi, Kurumi" sound simple. good she is good buddy in doing assign task

He look at Sakura and Simon, and random think how about a Hufflepuff to show up.

Kurumi smiled at the Slytherin girl. She remembered her from class and decided to take her up on her offer and sat down next to her. "It's nice to meet you Sakura," she said with a slight head bow. Her mother would be furious at her for not bowing before she had sat down. "I'm Kurumi." She then looked at her fellow Gryffindors. "I know Simon and Raven," she said smiling at the two of them.

Sure she'd been back to Japan quite a few times in the last several years but she hadn't played janken since she was around ten. The year before her family had moved to England. Now she very rarely spoke Japanese unless she was in Japan.

Bowing back to the younger girl Sakura smiled at everyone. "So how shall we work this out? I think Kurumi-chan's, may I call you Kurumi, idea of playing janken is a good one." It was a good idea, and Sakura kind of liked being able to play childish, what her family deemed childish anyway, games while she was at Hogwarts. Her parents refused to come back to England anymore so whatever she did here was safe from their prying eyes.

"You're welcome Raven...Nice to meet you Sakura," he greeted back before spotting Kurumi enter the room behind the students he was already facing and giving her a wave back. "Yeah of course you're welcome," he said eching the welcome of the others. He too noticed that now they were uneven but as the way of pairing off was suggested, he nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good idea as any," the captain remarked. "On the count of three we put out our hands."

"One...Two...Three..." he counted off his hand curved into a rock when it was over.

"Three!" Kurumi chirped as her small hands formed into a fist. Kurumi began to giggle. It was a pretty funny sight. Three Gryffindors, a Slytherin, and a Ravenclaw playing janken in the White Jasmine Laboratory.

Ariana was a bit confused about the whole janken thing, but... it sounded pretty much like they were just talking about rock paper scissors. So she counted "One, two, three," with the others and flattened her hand out into 'paper'.

"So am I, only for me it's my mother who's English and my father who's Japanese. My parents would be furious however if they knew that a lot of time I let my mannerisms slip unless I'm reminded of them by another Japanese person," Sakura smiled as the girl blushed, but she was heartened to see that the girl wasn't stuttering anymore.

"Yeah of course you're welcome," he said eching the welcome of the others. He too noticed that now they were uneven but as the way of pairing off was suggested, he nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good idea as any," the captain remarked. "On the count of three we put out our hands."

"One...Two...Three..." he counted off his hand curved into a rock when it was over.

Ariana was a bit confused about the whole janken thing, but... it sounded pretty much like they were just talking about rock paper scissors. So she counted "One, two, three," with the others and flattened her hand out into 'paper'.

Ariana noticed another person at the door. She almost laughed. They must look pretty silly, a bunch of people playing rock paper scissors in this magic-y room! She nodded in response to his question, Kurumi had answered too.

On three Sakura formed her hand into the rock shape, jumping slightly when she heard a new person come into the room and question them. If she didn't know someone was there she always jumped now. She had some serious paranoia issues when it came to not being able to see people. She should have sat on the other side of the table.

"So Kurumi-chan, according to your way of playing Raven and our little Ravenclaw would be partnered with each other, yes?" Sakura questioned. That was what she had gathered from the earlier explanation, but as three of them had used rock, that to her would mean they were the trio, but who knew. And what if Salander joined them?
