Still giggling at his explanation, Emmy put a hand to her side and grimaced.
"Stop! Stop! You're making me giggle too much, I've gone and got a stitch!"

Breathing deeply to try and relieve the pain in her side, the badger listened carefully to what her lion friend said.
"I hope you're right - he made life practically unbearable during my first year... Thanks Patroclus - what would I do without you?" she said again, giving him a quick hug.
"And if ever you need me, you know where I am!" After all, friends stuck together through thick and thin, right?

"Okay, I will stop!" Patroclus laughed, he hadn't thought it would have had the affect that itwas having on Emmy, but it was even funnier for it, "Badgers!" he whispered quickly.

The relationship between Emmy and her father was such a sad tale, and Emmy didn't deserve any of it. Emmy was a lovely, friendly and talented young witch, and Patroclus was honoured to have met her. Squeezing her, as she hugged him, Patroclus placed his hands on her shoulders and smile "We will always have each others back, promise?" If life at home was hard for Emmy, Patroclus would make Hogwarts a place of fun and enjoy for her.

Emmy batted his arm playfully, "I heard that! Badgers yourself!"
If only more students were like Patroclus, she thought, not having any ulterior motive for being friends, or trying to change you once you were friends...
still, at least she'd met and befriended him, and she hoped they'd be friends long after they both left Hogwarts.

She looked him straight in the eye, and grinned right back,
"To quote from one of my favourite shows, 'We'll always be together'!"
Truly, a girl couldn't wish for a better friend.

"You will get used to it i am sure. and it will be worth it at the end. Well spending time with girls is never a boring time. Unless of course shopping is involved. " JP laughed a little noticing that after Dal said this he looked of and smiled . He was probably recalling a time with them.
"I am sure you have made plenty of friends here haven't you?"

Charisa forgot about her finger and the booboo given to her by meanie Sova. There would be plenty of time for her to bond with her owl. The whole year, in fact. And hopefully by then, they'll be on better terms. Hopefully. And that entailed not getting bitten by the tawny owl.

She smiled at Raven and nodded in agreement. "I love birds too. I'm really fond of all animals," she explained. "Guess I was just caught up with not getting the pet I really wanted." She glanced over at Sova, absently pecking away at something or other up on her perch. She had a feeling that if she did eventually get a frog, her two pets wouldn't get along well anyhow.

"I can't wait for Care of Magical Creatures class," Charisa added excitedly. She dearly hoped she'd see a unicorn this year. Or something equally awesome, at least.

"Which show is that from" Patroclus grinned, due to the fact that he was a pureblood he had not grown up with TV like Emmy had, "But yes, it's very true!"

Trying to steer the conversation away from anymore upseting topics, the lion boy smiled and asked, "Have you taken many class so far this term?" Patroclus had attended quite a few, but couldn't recall whether Emmy had been there, Patroclus was just too focused sometimes!

"It's from a seventies musical called 'Grease' - it's fab, you really should try and watch it..."
As she spoke, Dapple floated down and landed on her head. Emmy looked up at her reproachfully, "Oh, now you come down. Come on, you silly bird, come here." she stretched out her arm, and after a little coaxing, Dapple deigned to hop onto her new 'perch'.

"I haven't no - just Runes and Charms! I can't see the appeal of Divination I'm afraid, and I don't have the time for Potions at the moment."
Finally, she managed to tie a small note to her beautiful owl's leg, walked over to the 'window' which was just a gap in the great stone wall, and set Dapple on her way.
Emmy stood for a while and watched her vanish into the fading light.

Ohhh! Charisa nodded in agreement. He liked magical creatures too, it seemed. "I hope we get to see some mythical creatures too," she said with an expression of thoughtfulness spread across her face. There she went. Daydreaming about unicorns. [/haha] She glanced down at her finger, which wasn't bleeding anymore. Although, she got her other fingers bloody from putting pressure on the bite. She figured it was time to clean up. "Hey, Raven? I think I'm going to go to the common room and wash my hands," she said. "Again, it was nice meeting you. Hope we can meet again sometime?" She smiled. She'd shake his hand, if it weren't for the blood. Gross.

"Yeah, that right, you need to attend your would, and I'm going to Professor Truebridge Office" Raven say, "Nice being with you" he add, and he watch Charisa walkin' to the door of the owlery

When Emmy named the musical, Patroclus remembered something like that being mentioned to him before, and even then he had thought it odd, “Greece as in the place?” He had been there, and could see a musical being set there, “or Grease as in the oil residue?” It had to be the country, because who would have a musical about car fluids.

Their conversation was joined by the Puff’s bird, which Patroclus gave a little pat to, before it was sent on its way, “I have been to all the classes, and I can see what you mean about Divination, I enjoy it, but I still find it to be a bit of a struggle.” The Celtic Cross had befuddled him just a tad. “Are you planning to try out for Qudditch?” It was all he had on the brain at the moment!

Emmy absolutely cracked up laughing when Patroclus started musing over Grease, "Stop! Stop stop stop stop! Look, it's spelt G-R-E-A-S-E - yes as in car fluid... It's about a bunch of high school kids - older than us - who acquire and do up an old car, which they promptly name 'Greased Lightning' - hence the unusual name!"

Quidditch? Who'd said anything about Quidditch?! Ohhh... Of course, they'd spoken about it last year, but she hadn't given it any serious thought recently - events had overtaken her rather...
"I don't know... I honestly don't think I have the time, Patroclus. Maybe next year?"

There was something therapeutic about grooming your owl, especially after the first potions lesson, that wasn't quiet explainable. It could have been the early hours that went with it, or the fact that she was alone in the owlery. Either way, she found herself completely at ease perched on a window seal beside Altair and giving her a good grooming. It also helped to clear her head, straighten out a lot of thoughts that had been swimming around in her head. Maybe she would make more trips up here.

It was a long trudge up to the owlery, but one that was calming, at least slightly. Hands tucked in his pockets and shoulders hunched up, he made his way slowly up the steps, pausing more than once to let his eyes trail out over the view. There was something peaceful in the scenery, in simply standing there and watching the clouds roll over the horizon as the sun made its way to its resting place.

Letting out a slow breath, he watched the steam rise from his lips into the chilly air. Winter was already fast approaching and he couldn't help but wonder how long it would before the steps were slicked in ice and they would become that much more dangerous for his ascent to this somewhat peaceful place. Screeching owls sometimes did away with the serenity. Reaching the last step, he moved to the door, pausing when he saw Arya inside, grooming her owl, and he couldn't help the small smile that touched his lips as he leaned against the doorframe.

It was as she removed a loose feather that she noticed the owls hooting rise an octave. This, however, didn't cause her to look up from her owl. This wasn't a place that her friends frequented, so she just assumed the person was another student or maybe professor who came up to send off a letter or check up on their own owls.

Pulling out a treat from a little pouch especially made for Altair, she fed one to the owl to calm her a bit before returning to pulling out loose feathers. The steam the accompanied every breath seeming to go unnoticed by the young teen.

For a few moments, he contented himself with watching her. That was until a rather chilly breeze blew up the back of his sweater and sent him scampering into the loft. A few quick steps had him regaining his balance with a sheepish smile, one hand leaving his pocket to scrub the back of his neck. "Heya."

Apparently, sitting in the window seal was not the best of ideas as Arya had come to realize when a chilly breeze came through. She wasn't sure if it was because they were higher up than usual or because winter was slowly approaching, but it seemed colder than she remembered. It was the familiar stumbling that sent a smile on her face and her eyes going to the seventh year. "Hey. Fancy seeing you up here." She gave her owl another treat before moving from the window for hugs.

Maybe it was the chilly weather or simply the heaviness of the past few days, but this hug felt better than the rest. Wrapping his arms around Arya, he held her close for a moment and tried to rub the cold off her back with his sleeve-covered hands. "Needed a bit of a breather and it's usually quiet up here. Except for the owls. You?"

Arya molded herself against Sabel, allowing him to both shield her from the cold and rid her of the cold that had already taken hold. The hug was more than welcomed, what with all the stress she seemed to have put herself under in the last few days. "Same. The owls are good company when you want to be away from others, but not alone." As were all animals really. "Plus I hadn't seen Altair in a few days."

"Hmm." He continued to rub her back as he rested his chin on her head, watching some of the owls as they tilted their heads curiously and let out soft hoots. "Alone...does that mean I should let you be?"

She let her gaze settle on one of the school owls that had yet to wake as she rested her head his chest. "No...your company is always welcomed." Mmm. Especially when he was keeping her this warm. "Besides, the owls don't really talk back. It's nice to have someone around who can talk back.

"I think you're the first people to say that to me." Sabel chuckled, wrapping his arms in a more encompassing embrace around her. "Most people tell me to shut up or cut down on how much I talk. Or threaten me..." His frown deepened a little before he shook his head and cleared the thought.

A grin spread across her face, and she snuggled her face into his sweater when he embraced her even more. "Certainly I can't be the first. Maybe the first to say it aloud, but defiantly not the first." Wait...what? A small puzzled frown crossed her face. "Who's threatening you?"

"Well the first to say it out loud then." He returned in amusement, letting his eyes drift closed. "And it's not really important. If it becomes an issue I'll let you know." Rubbing her back again, he rocked Arya a little. "How about you? Everything okay with you?"

An content smile replaced her frown. It was agreed then, she was the first to it aloud. "Will you at least tell me what house they're in?" Help narrow down the list of suspects. Arya wasn't able to put any further thought into who was threatening him when he started rocking her, and since he made the threat seem unimportant, she let the thoughts pass for now. "Everything is fine with me. Just been studying and doing some homework. Other things. How have you been?"
