Skot was walking down the hallway when he noticed the door marked 'Transfiguration practice Room' . Sure, he hadn't had class yet, but he wanted to try and figure out a spell his older brother had performed around him before. He walked into the room and saw a box full of random objects. He pulled out a teacup and pointed his wand at it. "Engorgio!" Skot shouted. The teacup slightly grew and then returned to its original size. Skot kept shouting hte incantation but the teacup refused to grow.

Isabelle had been setting up some boxes for the students to practice with, having just opened the room for the first time that day, when she heard someone enter. Watching him intently as he grabbed a teacup and tried out a spell, she sighed.

"Technically 'engorgio' is a charm, young man," she suddenly said, walking over from her place in the corner and standing next to him. First years, at least she assumed he was, were always so eager as well. Smiling at him, Issy patted him on the shoulder. "Perhaps a little less shouting as well? Try and clear your mind and say it forcibly, but clearly." She pulled an object out of the box and placed it in front of her. Flicking her wand from it's holster, she pointed it at the quill. "Engorgio!" The thing nearly doubled in size, before Issy flicked her wand and shrunk it back.

"Perhaps the charms professor would be able to help you with this as well? It's not a spell that a first year is expected to know, least of all perfect yet. But you are more than welcome to keep trying in here for now." She didn't really want to be rude and kick him out, just because he'd got the wrong practice room for that spell.

Emily walked into the room carrying her transfiguration book. She needed to get away from the noise of the common room and do the homework! Where else to try, but the transfiguration practice room?

She entered and almost dropped her book. The teacher was here? Great. Time to make a fool out of herself
"E-Excuse me p-professor? But am I allowed to do the transfiguration homework in here?"
Or at least practice it. That was what this room was for!

Emily entered the Transfiguration Practice Room, she wanted to get her homework done so that she could enjoy the rest of her weekend. Emily read the sign.... and re-read it. She pulled out the silver pocket watch she got in class from her pocket.... then looked back up at the sign.
After a moment of deliberating Emily figured it wouldn't matter if she took her own item in to practice on... it was homework after all.

She walked over to one of the plush seats and sat down, sinking into its comfortable cusions. Emily places the pocket watch on the table in front of her and took out her wand. She was confident in her abilities by now, she had successfuly transfigured her watch into a compass three times already so now it was just a matter of making them better.
"Comletia", cited Emily as she concentrated on the design of her compass.
The silver pocket watch was now a shiny brass compass, with very intricate numbering abound the edge of the compass face indicating the bearing degrees. At the base of the compass was the needle which was also shiny and brass. A black and white eight-point star illustrated the centre of the compass.
"Well that's the first time I've managed to change the colour", said Emily as she smiled down at her work.
"Reverto"... her compass returned to being a pocket watch.

Emily concentrated really hard, imagining her compass as she cast the spell.
"Comletia", she said as she performed the spell.
The pocket watch vibrated a little and then transformed.... into a gold rimmed compass. It had an old feel to it, the compass face was browned like old parchment with a gold eight-pointed star in the center. Cursive writing indicated N, E, S, W, as well as providing very detailed but very miniscule numbers(degrees) around the outside.
"Could probably pass as an antique", murmered Emily to herself.

All this concentrating was making her hungry, she considered transfiguring her compass into a peice of toast, but decided it wouldn't be a very good idea. She reverted the compass back into the silver pocket watch and put in back in her pocket along with her wand. "Breakfast time", she said as she left the Transfiguration Practice Room.

Isabelle had been stood leaning against the wall, observing and waiting. She thought that maybe some of the kids would use this room for their homework, as that was basically what it was there for - to practise.

Her eyes went up as a student walked in the door, and looked surprised to see her there. "Of course you can, just choose a seat and work away," she smiled. I won't keep that much of an eye on you.

"Thank you Professor" Emily smiled, then took a seat and opened her book.
'Right. You did this in class, so you can do it again' she told herself
She pulled out the big, ugly pocket watch she had used in class and her wand.
"Comletia" she said but nothing happened.
'Concentrate' Again. "Comletia" she said, slightly more loudly.
This time, the watch turned into a compass. She coudn't help sniger at her attempt. Pathetic! But at least it was a compass!
She stood up and closed her book. She was gonna go into the grounds to test the compass. And practice some more. She slipped out of the room quietly, humming to herself.

Caroline took a seat. She had come into the transfiguration practice room to work on the homework for the class she figured that this would be the best place to finish the last part of the assignment. She took the watch off of her wrist and sat it on the table. She held her wand up.

"Comletia"



Caroline was over joyed. She had completed the assignment. She looked at the design it the center of the compass. She put the watch turned compass in her pocket and left the practice room.

Salander strolls into the practice room and looks around. Several students seems to be busy getting homework done much like he was. He settles down by a desk and takes out a simple, silver pocket watch. He then turns to draw out his wand, points at the pocket watch and with utters "Cometa"

Nothing.

He frowned and he utters it again "Cometa". The Silver pocket watch just stared blankly back at him

Scratching the back of his head, he flipped open his notes to try to see what he was doing wrong. Plenty apparently. He was mispronouncing the spell and worse he wasnt even doing the wand movement

He practiced with his wand over and over in the air. A cross, a circular turn and a jab. Complicated it was.

With his notes still open, he turns his attention back over the pocket watch and performs the wand movement as he uttered "Comletia"

The pocket watch flips on its edge, spins and clatters down on its back as it changed into a silver colored compass.

"Haha!" the Slytherin lad grinned as he marveled at his little transformation. Scooping up the newly transformed compass he tries to test it as he moves down the corridor.

Try as he might, Jake could NOT find somewhere that he could sit and do his Transfiguration homework, which was a problem, seeing that it was due in very VERY soon. So, the young man had headed to the sixth floor in the hopes that Magnus would help him with finding a place, but he'd got no further than the classroom when he heard the very spell he needed to practice being cast.

Logic dictated that SOMEONE had found a place, so he followed the voice.

Once inside, Jake didn't have a clue who had spoken, but what he DID know was that this was somewhere he could finally do his homework.

Pulling his notes from his pocket and adjusting his normal seeing glasses on his face, Jake thumbed through the parchment and nodded. The spell was fairly simple for someone of his age and newly acquired skillage. Reaching into his shirt pocket, Jake got out the pocket watch which had the other end of its chain tucking into one of the buttonholes on his shirt. It was really nifty and he definitely planned to keep it.

Okay... so... what was it? Cross, circle, jab.

Evil.

Jake flicked his left to get his wand from its holster and held it over the watch in his right hand. He did the complicated wand motion and finished it off with a non-verbal 'Comletia'.

It looked exactly the same.

But no! Jake say the hands of the watch spinning like crazy. He looked closer and realised he DID have a compass... one that looked a LOT like the watch and appeared very confused about where true north lay. Jake looked around to see if anybody saw and cast a quick 'finite'.

Okay, so... he needed to focus more, clearly, on the mechanics of a compass rather than just the image of one. Once he had that nailed, he could make it look good. One step at a time would do.

And... maybe he'd try non-verbal last, when it was nailed.

Shaking out his wand hand, Jake pointed it at the pocket watch and prepared himself to try again.

Riley had been putting his homework assignment for Transfiguration off, purely out of sheer stress mounting on the Gryffindor sixth year in the form of other classes. It seemed like he was always either in a class, on his way to one, or going to sleep early for one the next day...and he didn't even have N.E.W.T.'s untile next year!

Riley had taken the watch Professor Hadley had given them to practice with and had spent what free time he had, thinking up the possible designs and shapes he could transfigure it into for his assignment. But having skipped lunch, Riley made his way into the practice classroom to begin his work. Choosing a desk away from the other students after waving at a few in greeting, he set to work.

Placing the watch on the desk, Riley thought hard of the first design he wanted to make and then crossed, circled, and jabbed his wand tip above it and spoke the incantation, "Comletia!"

The watch shuddered on the desktop and then slowly began to morph into the shape of a compass. The compass looked as though it was an aged artifact made out of a wooden frame with a yellowed with age glass face. 'Hmmm.. this looks like...' Riley thought to himself and then he got excited. "Christopher Columbus's compass!" he said much louder than he had planned.

He had made his dingy old watch into Christopher Columbus's compass and that was that! He packed his things and left with his complete and utter knock-off compass, happily unaware.

Okay, nobody had seen... that was good. Jake bit his lip and checked through his notes again, checking to see how best to do this. It all looked pretty simple; wand movement, words, focusfocusFOCUS!

Holding his wand up again, Jake stared down at the pocket watch and closed his eyes, concentrating on a simple compass like the watch already looked, but functional. North actually reading as North and everything. He took a breath and did the wand movement, following up with, "Comletia!"

When he looked at the compass, Jake made a face before smiling. It looked ALMOST the same as last time, the bronze casing now a HORRIBLY tacky kind of plastic with gold colouring, but the needle wasn't going haywire now. Weirdly... it was just pointing ahead. Jake wasn't entirely certain he was already facing North, though.

Heh.

Balancing his wand on the palm of his hand, Jake leaned down and whispered Point Me! to the wand, raising an eyebrow as it pointed in the direction that his defunct compass was calling south-east.

Actually... could it be defunct if it never worked? Well... it worked as a watch before...

Jake sighed and rotated the compass, hoping for it to suddenly realise it's error, but the needly continued to point in the directiong Jake had faced when casting the spell, no matter how much the compass rotated or even Jake rotated.

Heh, maybe he should work out where North was before he tried it next.

Feeling a little too hot inside, despite being in a mediaeval castle on a winter's day, Jake decided to try this outside. He cast 'finite' on the compass and gathered his stuff, leaving for the grounds.

Hugo hopped over to the practise room right after class. Oh boy, an undetectable extension charm! That'd come in handy! He waited for the professor to come and open the door, while swishing with his wand a bit to keep himself busy.

"You are eager, Hugo," Isabelle commented, as she exited, and locked, the classroom and made her way down the corridor, spotting the Ravenclaw outside the practise room already. She hadn't be expecting him to get there so soon - it was only a few minutes after the lesson had finished.

Sighing gently, she gave him a smile as she unlocked the room and held the door open for him to enter. "In you go."

He skipped into the room after the proffie opened the door. He was REALLY enthusiastic about this. "So... Undetectable Extension Charm," Hugo said, misspeaking for a second. Undeteddebable Extension Arm... He pulled out is wand in order to start as soon as possible.
