A little field trip was in order for the kids today. Literally really, considering they were on a field. The Playing Field, that Chad had very kindly let Isabelle have the use of for this lesson. It was just the right size....
Walking down the first thing you will notice is a GIANT curtain in the middle of the pitch, surrounding what, you may well think....All in good time. A long table is off to the side, with 4 wicker baskets, each with the name of a house on the front, and a large wooden box. A padlock is keeping the box firmly shut. Placed in neat rows on the floor are cushions, grouped by colour: Yellow, Red, Green and Blue - each with a stuffed toy perched on top. To the side is the blackboard from the classroom, bearing the following message:

OOC: I'm not starting the lesson until a bit later. Please have your character arrive, and take their seat, say hello etc. No excessive chatting though! Thanks. ^__^
OOC: LESSON HAS STARTED. Please don't have your character arriving late, or points will be taken. Just have them act as if they were there the whole time. Thanks.
Well duh...obviously they were going to transfigure something.
Mia looked at her stuffed animal and then over to each group of students before raising her hand in the air. "Are we going to transfigure them into the animal that represents our each individual houses?" Because that would be so cool. Even better if it was like Alex said and they conjured a real one.
Chloe really hoped they would not be transfiguring actual animals but even she could tell things were looking that way. But perhaps, "Will we be transfiguring the stuffed animals into something for the animals", a girl could dream can't she.
"Welcome everyone to our third lesson. As you can see you all have a stuffed animal to assist you with today's spell, a conjuration one - which will be a little harder for the youngsters among you, but I'm sure you'll give it a good go." Clearing her throat, Isabelle walked over towards the board and wiped off the message she had put there at the beginning of class. It was ready for other things now.
"Would anyone like to hazard a guess at to what we'll be doing?"
Luin looked at the stuffed animal in her hand that she had been looking at. Hmm...conjuration, that should be somewhat tricky, usually not taught till the 6th year too. She looked up at the professor then. "Seeing as we are using the stuffed animals. They are soft and wont hurt if they hit something or someone. I would hazard a guess at Geminio. Creating duplicates?"
Issy smirked. That was obviously a reference to the stuffed animals. "These are not for you to play with, Mister De Simpson, if that's what you are alluding to." She gave him a knowing grin, before turning her attention to everyone.
And now onto business.
"Welcome everyone to our third lesson. Simon smiled he was glad they weren't going to play with them, he was sure he would have look silly and Simon didn't think it would be for him to look silly, if his parents knew that they would go mentle. "I am glad of the Professor."
Simon looked at the Professor and smiled, he was going to ask if they were going to destory the teddies. "Professor are we going to destroy the teddies?" Simon thought it might be fun to do that, even though he doesn't normally like destroying things.
Leaning back on her hands...and then her elbows since she wanted to look up at the sky, the Slytherin stayed rather silent before her attention moved to the Professor once the lesson started. Hmmm, yes. The stuffed animal.
It bugged her.
Narrowing her eyes at the thing, Evelyn thought for a moment before raising her hand. "Are we shooting arrows at them?" she asked, a little evil smirk appearing on her lips. Pfft, well that's the first spell that popped into her mind when the Professor said 'hazard'.
What a violent thing to think of first. Poor stuffed animal. Issy made a mental note to make sure that the one Evelyn was using was still intact at the end of the lesson.
"Urr, no, we're not." No.

He raised his hand and answered with the only logical conclusion he could come to. "Are we transfiguring them into REAL animals?" he asked. Cause, you know...it was Transfiguration. That was what you did.
"We're doing conjuring today actually, but good guess." Isabelle smiled at sleepyhead. It would be kinda fun, too. But no.

"That's a good guess, and a very patriotic..." was that the right word? "one, Mia. But not today. The separate houses is for the task later on." Which you will find out about....later on.

"Good guess, Chloe, but that's not it." Isabelle smiled at the Gryffindor and moved on to the next answer.

Destroy the teddies? Another one that wanted violence. Lovely. She might have to check all the animals before they left. "No, Simon. We're not going to destroy them. In fact the spell could even be used to help them. If they were real."
"As Kurumi so very nearly got, we are going to conjure something to use for animal capture, smaller animals anyway." Hence the stuffed ones that were no bigger than a bunny. "It's not a cage per say, at least not to start with, and it doesn't hurt them. The spell you will be learning conjures a net, which when it touches the ground, hardens to form a cage, or a trap of sorts. Those of you that are more skilled..." Yes, sixth and seventh years I'm looking at you. "...might even be able to manage ones with doors in them. For easier access."
Turning her wand on the blackboard, Isabelle flicked it and the chalk started scribbling a word:

But within seconds it had sprung up and gone stiff, leaving the animal with room to move around inside - if it could have moved.
Turning back to the kids, she grinned. "Now it's your turn. Please practise saying the spell on it's own first, then the wand movement, then put the two together. You may stand as well, if you feel it would help you. And don't forget to ask for help from me, or the older students, if you need it."
OOC: I'm heading off for the night, so please just have your charrie practise. No excessive chatter though, Issy is still there even if I'm not.

Sierra adjusted her position on the green cushion and then craned her neck to get a good view of the demonstration. There was some mountain troll of a Hufflepuff sitting in front of her, so her viewing was significantly limited at the moment. She wanted to hiss at the Puffer, but then she realized it was her brother and made a small attempt to bite her tongue.
Move, you Mountain Troll Brother!
Once the demonstration was over, Sierra made a grab for her wand and then began practicing the incantation itself first. Did she actually need her wand just to say the incantation? No, but she felt a little ridiculous just sitting there on her cushion calling out a word over and over again. For now, she just used the wand as a distraction while she practiced saying the word. "Incarcolvo!" she called out. "In-car-sol-vo!"

She was close? Kurumi wracked her brain a bit more for any spells she may know, but since the Professor had mentioned that whatever spell they were learning that day would be very difficult for the younger years, Kurumi decided to sit and wait until further explanation was given.

Kurumi took out her quill and parchment and began to write down the instructions before setting it back down on the table. Now, setting her hands on her knees and sitting up as straight as possible, Kurumi first mouthed the words without saying anything - and probably looked ridiculous in doing so.
"IN-car-SOL-vO! In-CAR-SOL-vo!"
Somehow, Kurumi was pretty sure that she wasn't saying that right. She was putting too much emphasis all over the place. Taking a deep breath again, Kurumi tried to recall from memory the way Professor Magnus had said it.
Thinking that perhaps she had recalled it properly, she spoke. "In-car-SOL-vo!"
Yes, that sounded right.
Now, to practice the wand motion...

Rowan sat quietly on her comfy blue cushion listening and taking notes. She practiced saying the incantation several times. Yes, she was only a second year, but what could it hurt to try? She decided to watch as the older students practiced it a bit before she'd give the wand motion a try. She really didn't want to blow up her nice stuffed animal.
Jaina held tight to her ragged old teddy bear. It had been with her through thick and thin. Now, her professor wanted her to cast a net over it. She squeezed her teddy tightly and sighed. Please hold up and do this for me, she thought to herself. She recited the spell aloud: "In-car-SOL-vo! In-car-SOL-vo!"
Ok, that's down. She practiced the jab. *jab jab jab*
Alright now, teddy, let's do this, she thought. She put it down and went back to where she was. "In-car-SOL-vo!" *jab* A net shot out and split her teddy into 2 halves.

"In-car-SOOL-vo" Nika said trying to pronounce the word. "No wait. In-CAR-sol-vo. No, no. In-car-SOL-vo" She nodded her head twice. That's it Nika. SHe lifted her wand and jabbed it into the air. "Now to add two and two together." Nika put her stuffed animal in front of her and tried the spell. Nothing happened and Nika just stared. "Why can't I ever get anything right!" Nika was a little angered, but she didn't let it get to her. This time she decided to stand up. "Okay here goes nothing. In-car-SOL-vo." Nika watched as the black stuff came out of her wand and covered the animal. She watched the thing in awe. "I got it on my second try!" Nika jumped around in joy. For her this was an improvement, a big one at that.

Patroclus wondered why Professor Saylen wasn't involved for this would be an awesome combined lesson, it would be like hunting on the plains of Africa, however no animals would be harmed!
Wishing he had of worn his safari gear, the Lion Prefect got to his feet, whilst mulling over the words in his head, then projecting them out loud.
"In-car-SOL-vo"
It was a rather round sound, and Patroclus really had to move his mouth, to ensure the words were articulated perfectly,
"In-car-SOL-vo" he took a breath, "In-car-SOL-vo.....Incarcolvo!"
Prefect, he had nailed it, now it was time to add his wand!

Emily payed very close attention to Professor Magnus's demonstration. Eyeing off her stuffed animal she practiced the incantation. "In-car-SOL-vo" she said out loud, "In-car-SOL-vo... In-car-SOL-vo... Incarcolvo"..
Taking her wand inher hands she aimed it at the plush toy... "Incarcolvo!" she yelled. A large black mesh erupted from the end of the wand and enclosed around the target. Emily was please she got it the first time but decided to continue practicing. After freeing her plush toy she tried again.
"Incarcolvo!" mesh erupted from her wand again..... "Eeeep!" it missed the target, the mesh landing to the side of the toy engulfing a spare cushion. "Whoops", she said.
Continueing to practice Emily found it was becoming a lot easier, though she couldn't imagine actually trapping a live animal, that would be harder. At least toys didn't move.
"Incarcolvo!" she said trapping her stuffed toy in mesh again.
Raising her hand she said, "Professor, will we get to try this on a live target?" she asked. She very much wanted to prove to herself that she would be capable of it. After all in the line of being an Auror the skill would no doubt come in handy at some point.
Selina wrote down as many notes as she could handle for her brief spew of information. As the classes got harder Selina was finding it increasingly difficult to keep up notes wise. Thank heavens for Kurumi.
Once the teacher instructed them to attempt pronunciation Selina tried her hardest, "In-car-colovo? No no, incarcolvo. That's it." Selina spent the nest few minutes perfecting her work.
Jaina went down and put her two halves of teddy back together again as best she could. She shook her head and walked back to her spot. She started over again with reciting it, thinking she said something wrong, "In-car-SOL-vo! In-car-SOL-vo! In-car-SOL-vo!"
She practiced wand movements one more time. *jab* *jab* *jab*
She took a deep breath and prepared to combine the two again. "In-car-SOL-vo!" *jab* The net flew out and cut the teddy into quarters.
"As Kurumi so very nearly got, we are going to conjure something to use for animal capture, smaller animals anyway." Hence the stuffed ones that were no bigger than a bunny. Blink. Blink.
Animal capture? That was...plain cruel, Magnus! See? All that time spent with Saylen didn't do the Transfiguration Professor any good. Saylen was not a good influence.
Oh, well, now Magnus was explaining? Ooooooh, okay.
'In-car-SOL-vo'. Mmmm, alright. And then his eyes widened as he watched the spell in action. This was like Herbology all over again. The similarities? Well, it was rather odd their choice in what to teach the Hogwarts students, for sure. Especially since they could've been eaten thanks to Vindictus and now...trapping stuffed animals? It was, like, weird.
And...they were going to practice now? Could he practice with a live human being? No? Because that will make the lesson even weirder? He doubted it.
Aha. "In-car-SOL-vo," he said, practicing the pronunciation. HE won't let Kingsley down, ever. Treyen smirked, for some reason, and then focused on the stuffed animal. "Incarcolvo!" the boy said, with a jab towards the animal. Hehe, the thing was now trapped.
TRAPPED!
And he did it on the first try. A very unusual thing, by the way.
Harper bit her lip as she listened to the professor's instructions. Well, why didn't they just spell it with an S in there instead of that blasted C? Being homeschooled, she had come across many a spell that she could in no way pronounce until her mother said them out loud herself. It was quite ridiculous. Or...redikkulus. Or whatever. Mmhm.
She looked down at the stuffed animal in her lap and sighed. "I'm sorry, little guy. I don't like trapping defenseless things. Especially ones that are already stuffed. It kinda adds insult to injury." In a way....right? She patted it on the head and bit her lip again.
She first tried the wording: "Incarcolvo, incarrrrrcolva. I mean Incan Volvo...Gahh!! Incar-sol-vo." she repeated the latter word over and over. Well, may as well give it a go.
She looked over to where Treyen sat on his little Hufflepuff cushion and squinted at his wand movement. He was very precise, was he not? And - oh, wouldyoulookithat. He got it on his first try.
Beginners luck. Puh.
Harper looked away from him and concentrated on her own wand and stuffed animal. Poor thing
"Incar-sol-vo!" she tried. A short stream of light spurted from the wand tip, but other than that, nothing. "Incar-soooooooooooouuuuul-vo!" Nothing.
"Darn it, I said...IN-CAR-SOL-VO!" she said, quite agressively, might I add. A net sprung around the stuffed animal and turned into a cage before her eyes. HA! Now it couldn't get out even if it tried. Which it couldn't, because it was a fake stuffed animal. And therefore completely defenseless. So sad.
Ahhh, they were using the stuffed ones for now. But she wasn't going to tell them that until later, when they'd practised enough. "Not today, Luin."Smile.
"As Kurumi so very nearly got, we are going to conjure something to use for animal capture, smaller animals anyway." Hence the stuffed ones that were no bigger than a bunny. "It's not a cage per say, at least not to start with, and it doesn't hurt them. Yes, sixth and seventh years I'm looking at you. "...might even be able to manage ones with doors in them. For easier access."
Turning her wand on the blackboard, Isabelle flicked it and the chalk started scribbling a word:

Luin nodded to the teacher and then listened to the description of this next spell. Okay, interesting. She thought about it for awhile. This was going to be a bit more difficult to get than the rest of the spells so far. She started with the incantation, as instructed "In...car..sol..vo" "In-car-sol-vo" ok "Incarsolvo!" ok, that seemed good enough. She then started on the wand movement, jabbing her wand forward, hm..seemed simple enough. She saw the teacher's stance and wondered if she should assume it as well. She shrugged, maybe later?? She then started trying the spell, setting the stuffed animal up in front of her, "Incarsolvo!" jab....there was a brief yellow spark from the wand and nothing. She frowned, then tried again...."Incarsolvo!" jab...a net formed and then fell apart before it landed.
After a lot more practice she managed to form a net and get it to stay on the stuffed animal. She looked around, this sure was a tough spell, she wasn't sure if she had it down perfectly though.

K-Lee clutched at her polar bear soft toy. This better not hurt Reyde. Well better get started.
"In-car-sol-vo. In-car-sol-vo." K-Lee repeated, memorising the words. Now pointing her wand at her soft toy. Wincing slightly, she performed the spell.
"In-car-sol-vo!" She scrunched her eyes shut, nervously looking at Reyde. He was alright, but the spell hadn't really done anything. She sighed. At least Reyde was alright!

Ooh!
They were going to be creating a net cage of some sort. Destiny wondered if the spell would work on people. People like Raccoon Girl, wherever she was. Glancing around the field, there were no signs of that Hufflepuff, but then again, she couldn't really see. Not with her hood covering half her face and how she was practically cowering behind Evelyn.
Looking back at the Professor when she started to demonstrate the spell, Destiny lifted the hood up a little bit so she could see. Yeah, it would be so cool to capture Raccoon Girl in that net.
Standing up when it was time to practice, she moved the stuffed animal off the pillow and drew her wand. If she did capture anyone in it, it would be an accident. Honestly. The hood of her robes..making it hard to see. "In-car-SOL-vo. In-car-SOL-vo." she said, and once she was confident with the pronunciation, she practiced the jabbing motion. That part was easy. It was just like poking people!
And all together now!
"Incarcolvo!"Point. Jab.
Nothing.
Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab. Jab.
"I think my wand is broken."

Rolling his wand within his hands, Patroclus rolled his shoulders and cleared his throat; It was hunting time!
'Cue the Western Showdown music'
Spinning his wand in his hand like a gunslinging cowboy, Patroclus stood with a wide stance, closed his hand around the wand and jabbed,
"Incarcolvo!"
As he finished the incantation, his wand gave a lurch in his hand, and from it's trip a web-like net shot forth. It spiraled in the air, then hit the ground and vanished instantly.
Slumping his shoulders slightly, the Prefect pulled a face, before trying again, "Incarcolvo!" Jab!
This time was better, the web net sprang forth and contracted on the pillow at which the Lion had aimed, with a PING it stiffened and created a comfortable space around the pillow, however it wasn't going anywhere........it was a pillow
"In-car-SOL-vo!" This time Rowan said it with the wand movement. When the net actually came from the end of her wand it startled her so that she let out a loud gasp and stepped backwards, tripping over her pillow. Landing rather ungracefully on her backside, she giggled and watched as her net turned into a cage over her stuffed animal.

Isabelle wandered over to the nearest student and gave them a smile, before nabbing their toy. Rolling her sleeves back, she placed it on the ground in front of her, and took a level stance. In reality the thing would be moving, so a firm base was always a good start. Pointing her wand at the animal, she jabbed it forward while saying the spell. "Incarcolvo!" A black mesh erupted from the end of her wand and headed in the toy's direction, momentarily covering it completely. But within seconds it had sprung up and gone stiff, leaving the animal with room to move around inside - if it could have moved.
Helena took a couple of stuffed animals, then walked back to her cushion. Time for practice. The girl started muttering "In-car-COL-vo, Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo," and so on. The wand movement didn't need any practice, did it?
She pointed her wand towards the first stuffed animal, a small giraffe, jabbed forward and whispered the spell. "Incarcolvo." She also tried to conjure a door for the trap, even though professor Magnus told the older students that part. As for the trap... uh... It was there, no door, and it was kind of... tight? Uh... she wanted to trap the stuffed animal, not suffocate it.
Okay, try again. Her next victim was a cute little duck. Jab, "Incarcolvo," and there it was! A good sized trap, and it even had a door. Or... not. It wouldn't open, even if it was there. Oh well. At least the prisoner won't be able to get out, right?
OOC: Just a quick note - Not all words are said as they are spelt. AND, the toys do NOT belong to your characters. They are ones Isabelle has provided, that were already placed on the cushions, so don't worry about hurting something of yours.

Ok, that's down. She practiced the jab. *jab jab jab*
Alright now, teddy, let's do this, she thought. She put it down and went back to where she was. "In-car-SOL-vo!" *jab* A net shot out and split her teddy into 2 halves.
O_O "Oh no!" she exclaimed. *face to palm slap*
O____o was a good face to pull. Issy had never seen anyone split something in two by doing this spell before. She didn't even know it was possible with a net, that was soft until it hit the ground. Twice.
Biting her lip, Isabelle walked over to Jaina and picked up the split teddy. With a flourish of her wand it was repaired, almost as good as new. "Try and take things slowly, Jaina," she smiled. "Conjuring isn't easy for young students, but...this is the first time I've seen anyone do that. Just stay calm."

As she thought, the older students were finding it a bit easier. Even if they didn't have the aim first time. heh. Live target? A shifty look spread across Isabelle's face, and she tapped the side of her nose towards Emily. "We'll see."

"I think my wand is broken."
"Are you making sure your mind is completely clear of other thoughts, Destiny?" After all, Patroclus was in this lesson. But Issy wasn't going to say that. No, she was just going to suggest that maybe the snake should..."Be less forceful. Not all spells require such strong movements. Try and make it more fluid."
Making her way back to the front, Isabelle grinned and nodded at the kids who were doing well. The younger ones would need to concentrate harder, but there was no reason they couldn't at least get a net out. Maybe not always get it to stiffen as required, but you never knew. "Carry on practising for now." Some of you need it.
Simon looked at the Professor he didn't know if to just destroy the teddy bear and leave the classroom or do what he was told, the teddy bear was looking at him funny, he couldn't believe how weird they looked and he couldn't believe that he used to have some of them. "Professor those teddy bears look weird." Simon sighed, hopefully the professor wouldn't mind him saying that.
Simon decided that he would try and practice the spell. "Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo." Simon looked and then realised that nothing was happening with his wand, that was odd it normally always worked. "Professor I think my wand has broken, am I suppost to have an MOT done you know like muggles have done on cars?" Simon had never thought about that before and he had owned the wand now for 3 years.
