Helena suddenly felt her stomach flip over. Jump around in... her. Or whatever. But whaaaat was this? The class was a mess. Maybe professor Magnus had a crazy party in here? Probably not.

"Hello, professor."

Another glance around the classroom... there was rubbish everywhere! Even on the desks and seats! Helena is soooo not going to sit down. She closed her eyes and... no. No deep breaths or she'll be sick. Really sick. She just closed her eyes and tried to imagine anything. Except rubbish.

The placed look the slums.......

Patroclus stopped on the threshold of the classroom, as he eyes took in the wasteland that was once the Transfiguration Classroom.

"Felt like taking things out of the bin, rather than putting them in the bin did we Professor?" Patroclus joked as he spotted the Professor Magnus amongst the refuse. "I must say it is an inspired interior decorating stlye"......let's hope it doesn't catch on.

Tiptoeing through the tip, Patroclus tried to navigate his way to a desk, which he proceed to clean once he arrived at, "Scourgify!"

MERLIN'S BEARD! The room was a mess. Hugo hopped in the room as he was careful not to step on anything. He waved at the proffie. "Morning, professor. I see you changed your hair colour back?" he asked. For some reason he felt more obligated to ask that than WHY WAS THE ROOM COVERED IN JUNK?!! But... He figured it had some purpose. He found his place and shoved all the trash off his desk and chair with his arm. "Maybe a little disposophobia problem?" he said under his breath.

Ahhh they were starting to arrive. And first was...a rather sickly looking Slytherin.

Isabelle eyed her slightly, and grinned inwardly, as the girl took in her surroundings. "Good morning, Miss Hopkins," she smiled, nodding in greeting. Was she going to do the whole lesson stood up? "If you move the things from your seat, you can sit down," Issy said, rather helpfully. Ooooh, maybe she was going to need a bucket.

"Why yes, Patroclus. Something like that."

Isabelle chuckled at the prefect's comment. It seemed the rubbish was distracting them. But they'd soon find out what it was for. And the fact they'd be working with it. Lowering her head, so she was raising her eyes to look at him, Issy watched Patroclus clean his desk before he sat down. Not quite what she had in mind, but she wasn't going to say anything.

"Good morning, Hugo!" Isabelle greeted the Ravenclaw cheerfully, unfolding her fingers to return his wave - albeit in a small gesture. Her hair. He had seemed rather intrigued by it at the tea party, and his comment made her hand fly up to pat the now returned to brown barnet. "Yes I have," she nodded, smoothing it out slightly. "I must admit to much preferring my natural colour."

And at least he went for the much more practical approach to ridding his seat of rubbish - shift it with your arm. Hehe. But what was that....did he...did he say something?

Jake stepped into the room.

"Ew," he said quite simply.

What in blue blazes...?

Simon entered the Transfiguration classroom prepared for the latest class. What he wasn't prepared for was the status of the cleaniness of the classroom or actually the uncleanliness for the place was a mess. "Hello Professor," he greeted with a polite smile as he looked around debating where to sit in the trash-covered room. Hearing Patroculus comment on her decorating style and her response, he absently shook his head finally finding a relatively safe spot.

"I think if that were the case it would be ALL trash...this mess has to have something to do with the class." the captain commented sitting down. The absence of foodstuffs was noticable if you paid attention. "Perhaps a new way to recycle?"

Helena looked up as professor Magnus spoke. "Oh, okay."

She approached the desk she usually sat at, then looked at the rubbish all around it. A Ravenclaw boy just shoved the rubbish with his hand. Helena is surely NOT going to do that. She took out her wand and... "Ewww." She looked hopefully at professor Magnus. "Please tell me we are going to transfigure the rubbish into butterflies." Looking again at the rubbish... Uhhh...

Helena closed her eyes. Better.

Still with her eyes closed, she pointed her wand at her desk. Even if she missed the desk... She couldn't harm anyone with a cleaning charm. "Scourgify." When she did the same thing for the chair, she finally opened her eyes. MUCH better. She could finally sit down.

"Uh, what the....." Blink. Trash was everywhere as a far as she could see. No food thank goodness but still. She had to kick some of it to make her way through. As soon as she got to the professor she said, "Uh, hi professor. I am curious to why the room is covered in trash.". Chloe was not one clutter. It was rather a pet peave of hers. Even for that she did manage to talk to the professor calmly and poilitely.

Well.

Destiny had experienced a lot of crazy classroom setups, but this one was by far the craziest. Stopping just outside the door, she let her eyes wander over the trash laying everywhere. Her pet rat Marcus would be in little rat heaven right about now and it was a pity she didn't bring him.

But she didn't want Professor Magnus to Transfigure him into a goblet!

"Hello, Professor!" she greeted, kicking a few pieces of trash out of her way as she made her way over to the empty seat next to Patroclus.

"Reminds me of my bedroom back home."

Seriously. Just ask Evelyn.

"Hello, Jake."

Isabelle just eyed him. She didn't really have much to add to his one word comment. You can't really expand on 'eww', can you? Heh.

The looks on their faces was really quite amusing. Although some were taking the scene better than others. -cue quick look at sickly girl- And as the Gryffindor captain greeted her, Issy smiled back at him and nodded her head. "Good day, Mister Bennett." He seemed to be the one who was thinking about what was going on - coming up with an idea to what they'd be doing. "Very good guess," she replied simply. It was going to be her first question. "We'll see."

This one did seem to like to close her eyes alot. Maybe it helped with breathing, concentrating....not throwing up. Yes, Isabelle wasn't going to ask her, it could have been all of the above. But at least the girl was now taking a seat, albeit very slowly and cautiously.

"Butterflies? No, I'm afraid not." Smile.

"Hello, Chloe. You'll find that out soon enough." Issy winked at the girl, and then gestured to a seat. She'd find it out sooner if she sat down. Yes she would.

"Destiny, hello." Smiling as yet another student entered the room, Isabelle stood up and made her way around the desk to perch her bum on the front edge. She was nearly ready to start - but she still had time to snort in amusement at the girl's bedroom comment. For some reason, she could imagine it.

"Right everyone, lovely to see you again." Beaming, Issy folded her hand in her lap and studied their faces. "As you can see the room has had a bit of a make-under, and some of you are wondering what it's all about," she took a look across to Chloe and Simon as she spoke. "Well I can tell you we will be learning two spells today - three if you include the reversion spell for one of them - and they are to do with all of this. What we can do to rid our neighbourhoods of it. I'm sure you've seen rubbish spread around the countryside, left by careless people who can't be bothered to take it home, or find a bin to put it in...." Issy began walking around the cluttered room as she spoke, however difficult it currently was.

"Take this newspaper for instance," she said, bending down and picking up and old battered copy of the Daily Prophet. "How long do you think it would take for this to be absorbed into the earth completely, if left to it's own devices and not cleared away?"

Sweet Merlin!! And Elektra thought she had a messy room back home. She didn't quite know how to react outside, but inside she was just amazed at the mess in the clasroom. She saw the professor sitting at her desk and Elektra smiled to the professor. "Hello Professor." She then looked at the by where she wanted to sit and then walked to a table stepping over a few crumpled up newspapers and bottles and cans and...well all the trash that was scattered on the ground and sat down keeping her bag on her shoulder not feeling too comfortable putting her bag down on the table or even on the ground. Elektra could only imagine what today's class was going to be like.

Pffft.

Destiny had to DISAGREE with the Professor. Sure, she may have thought this was the craziest classroom setup she ever seen, but to call it a make-under? It was UNIQUE! And rather smelly. Not that she was sniffing or anything..

Nodding her head as the woman spoke, Destiny glanced at Patroclus from the corner of her eye. See!? She was LEARNING! Or..just doing a very good job at pretending.

Oh!

And then it was question time and she might have known the answer. Raising her hand, she waved it around. "I think it is like six weeks. Not that I have ever sat and watched newspaper absorb into the ground." She wasn't a weirdo and she had much better things to do. Like eat chocolate.

"But if you step on the newspaper, it would probably speed up the absorbing process." Probably.

Erm, what exactly?

Treyen had been certain that Kingsley wouldn't have wanted to see his classroom this way, but...right! This wasn't his classroom anymore, and this all had to do with the lesson, so...yeah...what had Professor Magnus asked again?

The boy raised his hand and shrugged, "It depends, if it rains, it's quicker...but it's not immediate either, it takes a bit of time." True. But how much time exactly? He had no idea.

The professor's answer to him was certainly promising, the use of very good guess confirming it. However as he paid attention, waiting for the class to begin in ernest, Simon couldn't find any more clues. When she did question the class, the captain tried to think before raising his hand to respond.

"Since its made of a natural product like wood pulp...certainly less time then say something made of an unnatural substance," he answered lowering his hand. Yeah Simon go for the analytical answer why dont you.

Hearing what the professor said to her she gave the professor a look of okay, right. and carefully shimmied over to a seat taking a bit more time cause the clutter was getting on her nerves. As soon as she got to a seat and managed to clean it off she sat down and heard what all the trash was for. It did not make her any less on edge but she was glad to know that they were gonna clean it up at some point with spells. And then the first question was asked, 'How How long do you think it would take for this to be absorbed into the earth completely, if left to it's own devices and not cleared away?' Chloe had no idea. "Erm, a year perhaps.", Chloe responded with her hand raised high.

No? Oh well. At least she tried.

Uhh... a pretty long time?

However, Helena didn't raise her hand, as she didn't have an exact answer.

Luin was sitting at a desk she had wiped off before sitting down and everywhere right next to it. Her quill was out and she had headed her paper Transfiguration Class II: Luinevaug Celebrindal First Year Ravenclaw she then looked around at the trash and thought about the teacher and the old Daily Prophet, "I believe it would take years. Maybe not as much as something plastic but still quite a long time."

How long would it take? Evan pondered the question. He couldn't really tell for how long, but decided to make a prediction.

"Two months?" he offered. It was a soft newspaper, nothing too fancy to take several months.

Elektra thought and thought. She had no clue. She heard answers all around her and to her they sounded right, but what Elektra was thinking she probably make herself look like an idiot so she kept her mouth shut and just began write notes on her parchment until she felt she knew a question that she could answer.

Ew. Emily brushed some bits of old food of her desk as she spoke.
How long would it take? A long time!
"It woudn't take as long as plastics, but mabye about a year?"
Total guess.

"6 weeks? Good guess, but not quite." At least it's not exactly the number she was looking for, the one she herself had read. "Little bit more than that, but you are right as far as this item goes - breaking it up would make it quicker."

Ahh, Treyen. He'd arrived and she'd missed him, how remiss of her. Nodding in his direction, she gave him a brief smile. "Yes, as far as newspaper goes, other factors could alter the amount of time."

"True, this," she said, holding the paper up "would take less time than this.." Issy picked up a bottle from a nearby desk and held that aloft as well. "But both are equally unsightly and damaging."

At least Chloe had sat down now, after removing the clutter from her desk. Isabelle smiled in her direction as she put her hand up and answered. "Nearly. Good guess."

"Yes, plastic is quite a different story. And the paper wouldn't quite take years, but good guess." Smiling, Issy made her way back to the front of the class, bottle and paper still in hand.

"Very close, but not quite." Isabelle grinned as she passed the Slytherin captain, giving him a nod of the head to show she appreciated the answer.

"Not quite as long as that, Emily, but good guess. And no, not as long as plastics." At least they knew something about this. Or maybe it was just common sense? In which case she was glad to see the kids had some.


"This newspaper would, on average, take about 6 months to dissolve completely. Different factors would affect the amount of time, as some of you quite rightly pointed out - and the fact it is a natural material. This plastic bottle on the other hand," Isabelle held it up again for them to see "does not break down as easily, and can possibly take anything up to one thousand years to degrade - depending on where it was." Which was just ghastly, in her opinion. The things cluttering up the land was such a horrible sight. Which would lead her onto the next part....

"As I mentioned at the start, we'll be learning two main spells. The first of which is 'Covadium' - and it involves using a piece of rubbish from the room. Can any of you tell me what you think it does?" This was going to be interesting.

Simon listened as Professor Magnus confirmed or didn't the answers given by himself and his fellow students, the boy taking notes on the interesting stuff like the times the two items would take to be decomposed. He thought about what the spell could do and the only thing that he could come up with was the basic description of transfiguration. "Could it transform one everyday item thats no longer useful to another item that might be more useful at the moment?"

Ohh! Littering. Ellie totally knew to not litter.

Covadium? "It makes it absorb faster? Like...poof." That'd be soo cool.

She'd totally go to her cousins and do some...what was it called?.. community service or something... if that were the case. You know, when the muggles were NOT around. Maybe during their lunchbreak or sometime. Yeah.

Six weeks, six months.

They were both the same for Destiny. She never said she had a good concept of time. But, at least the Professor agreed with her about stepping on the newspaper! And if that made it absorb faster, how fast would it absorb if she tore it up and threw it like CONFETTI!?

There was no time to ask, though, as another question was asked. Not good at guessing games, Destiny raised her hand anyway. "Would it like..transfigure a piece of trash into..seaweed?"

Covadium. Codium.

Same thing.
