Having put the pieces of card on each individual desk, Isabelle had arranged them in a semi-circular fashion, for now at least. Depending on what they would be doing later on, they could be moved. It was easy enough. Having placed several boxes of bits and bobs on the large wall length table behind her desk, she was now leaning against her desk, arms crossed and a smile of greeting on her face.
As well as the professor, the first thing you see upon entering is the large blackboard behind her right shoulder. Upon it was a message for the incoming students:
Quote:
Please write your name, house and year on the card provided and place it at the front of your desk. Thank you.
OOC: As this was meant to open 3 hours ago (*pets SS*), I will not start the lesson proper until about 8PM GMT now. Please have your character enter and take their seat, filling out their details too. You can chat, but please DON'T do it excessively.
Lexi listened closely and repeated the wand movement several times after Professor Magnus demonstrated it. Ooo it was a doozy. Heheheh. Once Lexi felt confident with it she pointed her wand at the watch, cleared her throat, did the movement and said, "Comletia!"
...
Nothing. Crikey! Narrowing her eyes she looked at the watch, did the movement again, and cast Comletia nonverbally.
IT WORKED!!! Lexi did a little wiggle in her seat as she beamed at the previous watch, now compass. WOOOOOO!

Listening to their given tasks as the professor spoke, Simon waited patiently as she passed around the various watches and taking notes on the incantation as she did so. "Comletia...Com-LET-e-AH," he practiced looking up as a wrist watch was placed down onto it. The sixth year picked it up, turning it over in his hands to examine it and get used to it still working the spell over as he did so. "Comletia...Com-LET-e-AH...Comletia."
When Professor Magnus moved them onto the next step, Simon placed the watch back onto the desk not wanting to accidentally work his magic on it until he was supposed to. Copying down the notes on the wand movement for later use he then set down his quill and picked up his wand. The boy concentrating as he worked on mimicing the professor's earlier movements.
Up...down...left..right...mimicing the compas directions, he mused to himself as he practiced. ...circle around for compasses are circular and then point to the watch. The quidditch captain repeated it several more times, his wand movement gradually becoming more and more fluid. Eventually satisified with his progress, Simon picked the wrist watch back up in his left hand ready to actually perform the spell.
"Comletia," he cast focusing on what he wanted to do and concentrating on the movements of his wand. His first attempt made the watch more round then its previous oval shape and the numbers on the face disappeared supposedly to make room for directions but didn't change fully. "Reverto..." Simon added making a slight face, the watch returning to its previous state. Taking a deep breath he tried again, doing everything slightly slower to ensure near perfection.
North...south...west...east...circle...point The wrist watch soon finding itself a wrist compass.
So they were not doing Incarcifors today? Shaaaame. Cedric shook his head, somewhat disappointed to say the least... but then he perked up upon finding out they were going to change watches into compasses. That was his second choice. Really good thing what they were to do was as quite interesting as transfiguring things into cages. At one point, however, he'd more relish tackling advanced topics in Transfiguration. It was one of his favorite and best subjects. Thus, it was top of his priorities, as far as school was concerned, yes. But well, the professor seemed a very serious one. Like really apt and all.
After Professor Magoose finished her prosy speech, Cedric didn't have any moment to lose so he took out his wand from his pocket and recalled what was needed to be done. Comletia. Cross shape, circle, jab. Concentration required. Alright, let's get this done with!
Cedric was about to do the incantation, the wand movement and all that but then a thought presented itself before him. Could this spell be done non-verbally? Well, he thought that would be far more challenging, especially for learned seventh years like him. Cedric withdrew his pocketwatch, then placed it on his desk almost at once. He started the wand movement, his mind concentrating diligently hard not necessarily because he wanted his watch to turn into an intricately detailed compass but was rather because he was doing the spell non-verbally! How was his attempt? No success. Erm. Perhaps more concentration was needed. Or was the spell wasn't just possibly meant to be performed non-verbally? That was when he felt the urge to ask but then he thought he must change his watch into a compass first. And so he did. He did the wand movement, concentrated hard, and muttered the incantation 'Comletia' which he lacked of on his first attempt. His ordinary-looking pocketwatch converted into a compass that one could describe as a very exquisite thing. Indeed, it looked exquisite for it gleamed dazzlingly bright. The compass bore the sole likable quality of his pocketwatch: its golden color and the badger sign. Awed, he was temporarily transfixed. Excellent job Cedric Leone.
After a moment or two, his awe subsiding, he turned to Professor Magoose so as to ask her the question he longed to ask. Of course he still wanted to know. He still wanted to try. "Professor, can the spell be done non-verbally?"
And one last thing... One. Last. Thing.
Was it Magoose? You know, her surname.
Oh a boy with a question. Goodo. Say what now? Non-verbal? "Why yes it can, most spells can, Cedric, you just need to make sure you have that extra bit on concentration. Doing a spell non-verbally is perhaps twice as hard, but by all means give it a try if you think you can." He looked old enough to manage it.
Chewing her bottom lip, Isabelle eyed the students as they worked. They certainly seemed to be enjoying it *snort*. Maybe she should move onto something else they can do? Sighing, she moved over towards the blackboard and cleared off all the writing that was already on it. Scribbling with the chalk, instead this time of using magic for it, she wrote out another set of instructions.

Line 3: Draw a line from North East towards the West side of your parchment.
Line 4: Draw a line from West to South East.

Turning her attention back to the class, she cleared her throat to get their attention. "Those of you that wish to continue practising, please do so. The rest of you - I want to know whether your compasses work, and if you concentrated enough on the spell to get an accurate compass."Grin. Oh yes, it wasn't just an appearance thing. If their needle was wrong, or their letters in the wrong places, this wouldn't be successful for them. "So this is a little task to complete before I finish the lesson."
"I am going to set up a walled grid at the back of the room to make this fair - don't want you all to just copy what the person next to you is doing. Each compartment will have enough space for you and your desk and chair." Isabelle stopped and looked at the kids to make sure they were paying attention, or if she wasn't making sense and they had questions. "Don't be alarmed when the walls go up. You will be able to move out of them, but you WON'T be able to see anyone around you. If you wish to do this task, please write down ALL the instructions I have placed on this board, soon you won't be able to see them."
Checking that they had all made note, as she asked, Isabelle went about setting up the classroom. With a flick of her wand several walls shot up, concealing a few of the desks at the back of the room, but leaving some near the front open. "Please make your way to the front if you wish to continue practise, and to the one of the cubicles if you want to do this task."
OOC: The classroom now looks a bit like this, for anyone that wants to know.
SPOILER!!: CLASSROOM LAYOUT
She gave them all enough time to move around as they chose, clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she waited.
"Right then, those of you that are doing this task please find North and turn your desk to face that EXACT direction. If your compass is correctly transfigured the red arrow should point to magnetic North. Then please take out a separate piece of parchment, and WITHOUT drawing the compass lines on it, please follow the directions I gave you before to create the image I'm looking for." She knew what it was, but she wanted to see if they could read their new compass, and get the lines going in the right directions. "Use your compass to get your bearings on the paper. Once you have finished, just give me a shout and I will get rid of your cubicle walls. You can start, please."
OOC: If you don't want to do this, and just keep practising instead, that's fine. Everyone else - I will take a hand drawn diagram, or one done using a graphics program. I'll post what the image should look like later when people have completed theirs. And if you have ANY QUESTIONS, don't hesitate to ask me or Isabelle!
Oh, and please try not to copy any pictures anyone else posts first. *snuggles you all*

Ohhhkay.
Snapping her attention up to the Professor, she almost shook her head and blurt out 'no', she didn't need any help, but...well she did.
"Actually, can I...take a look at your compass?" Mmhmm, the one she made? Noo, she wasn't going to pretend that she was the one that made it seconds later. Pffft. That was only going to happen if she tried this spell again and again and failed. Which, she definitely wasn't going to stop if she failed.
Riley was a bit nervous to do it but he was pretty sure he was going to try the task. After thinking again about it, the Gryffindor stood up from his practice desk and took the watch to the back of the room to where a Task desk with walls was set up.
With one last look towards Professor Magnus for luck, Riley ducked down beneath it and pulled his wand out. Setting his watch on his desk he pointed his wand out and concentrated hard on a compuss and then moved his wand the necessary motions...
'North, south, west, east, circular motion, and point!' When he finshed twirling his wrist around it he whispered the incantation aloud, "Comletia." Oh he sure hoped it worked. He watched as the watch turned more round and then lost it's face. Then the 12 numbers turned into just the letters representing the different directions.
Practially bouncing out of his chair in excitement, Riley stood up and then turned his desk in the direction of North and then turned to look at his parchement where he had written down the Task's directions from the board. He then made the lines exactly how he had read them from the board and then flipped his paper over when he was finished.

Satisfied with his practicing, Simon opted to move on to the next part of the lesson. He carefully copied down the instructions for the task as advised, knowing he wouldn't be too likley to remember them all correctly when his view was blocked from the blackboard. Since the desk he had been seated at was near the front, the sixth year got up with his stuff and moved into one of the cubicles
Once he was settled, Simon took out a spare piece of parchment and his quill and set it out along with the instructions beside them. Taking his handmade compass in his opposite hand, he put his quill to the center of the top of his paper and with his eyes darting between the instructions and his compass, let his right writing hand to the work it entailed.
Southwest...northeast...west...southeast...north to starting point
Lifting his quill finally Simon looked down at his results, smiling as he noticed the movements had made a mishapen star. "I believe I'm done Professor," he then called out like she had asked.

"Comletia," he said while doing to the movement with his wand. Immediately, ina puff of smoke, the old pocket watch turned into a compass with a chain and the locket door. He laughed loudly as he saw this, but then he felt a tingling move up his arm to his shoulder.

He quickly put his clothes on like they were before, and grabbed everything, and went back to class, sitting itthe back row. he laid his wand down and grabbed the other compass that used to be a desk and laid it next to the locket one. He just shook his head at both of the compasses sitting on his desk. And shook his head some more.

"Alice, Belle, Charley...we gotta keep an eye on him." was all she managed to squeek out since they were supposed to be practicing and not talking too much.
"Yes, I think we should..." Charley answered.
Covertly she sent a note to Jaina.
What exactly do you mean by "keep an eye on him"? You look as though you are scheming.
Charley herself, though, was concerned. Her brows furrowed and the ends of her mouth turned down; her lips pursed. Benjamin was so much like her father and Nathaniel; if he was a nice boy, he shouldn't turn out like they did. Or as Nathaniel did; Charley didn't know her father to be a bad man. But to have four children with your wife and then leave...... She literally shook the thought out of her head as tears began forming in her eyes.

"Comletia, comletia, comletia," Ellie practiced the incantation with the wand movement. It totally made sense, a circle- like a compass, with a cross- like the four points, and then a jab at the object. Simple, easy to remember. She felt that the incantation was odd, though. She'd just have to remember 'COMletia', 'COMpass'. Eh...
Now, onto the wrist watch on her desk.
"Comletia," up/down, left/right, circle, jab.
The watch...looked like... Heh. She wasn't exactly sure. But it definitely wasn't a watch, and it definitely wasn't a compass. "Reverto."
No. Ugh. It would be so much easier if the stupid band wasn't there. Why did she never learn a severing charm, huh? She'd just cut the band off, and she'd probably get the spell right in one go.
Looking around, she saw how Jake's compass had a chain. Maybe.... Maybe that's what she could do? Instead of willing the band away, just...make it part of the compass.
Okay, so, the band will be a chain. A silvery, linky, one.
Up/down, left/right, circle, jab, "Comletia." She said this with much more forcefulness.
Gahhh. Dumb watch. "Reverto."
Ellie watched as other people moved on to something that looked like it could possibly be fun. But here she was, stuck with a stupid watch. She glanced at Spike to see how he was doing.
Once more? "Comletia," Up,down, left, right, circle, jab.
Deformed watch. It still had twelve lines, though it had one needle. And that dumb band was still there.
"Comletia!" up,down, left,right, circle, JAB.
Ellie picked it up to examine it. It had the band, still. It had about 9 marks on the face... But it had one needle. And as she turned it, it seemed to work alright.
Whatever. It was good enough for her.

Luin made her way to the back of the classroom to one of the desks surrounded by walls. She looked down at her paper for the list of directions that she needed to write down. She started drawing the lines, carefully, although not perfectly.
Quote:
Line 1: Starting at the top (North) of your parchment draw a diagonal line in the direction of South West.
Line 2: Continuing from that line, draw a line from South West to North East.
Line 3: Draw a line from North East towards the West side of your parchment.
Line 4: Draw a line from West to South East.
Line 5: Draw a line from South East to North - finishing by connecting to the place you started in.
SPOILER!!: Luin's Paper
She looked at it a few times, making sure it looked ok, and then said, "I think I have finished it professor." She hoped that it was fine.
Hugo quickly turned the watch into a compass again, concentrating harder this time. It turned out really good actually.
Hugo took a piece of paper and drew the lines, closely following the instructions. He actually liked the walls, because he wasn't so distracted with looking for Fee in order to be able to stare at her and dream away.
He finished and held the paper in front of him. It strangely lopsided, but Hugo actually liked it a bit.
Lexi started a bit as her desk turned into a cubicle of sorts. Heheh. Wasn't it funny how even when you KNOW something is going to happen it still scares you a bit. Anywho. Withher tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth she got to work.
Following the directions she had scribbled down she drew this:
Jaina gave her an innocent smile. "ME?! Nah, no trouble. Be mindful. That's what the Jedi would say!" She giggled. "Reverto!" she said again. She closed her eyes and pictured the compass she'd seen in the pirate movies. "Comletia!" she said as she poitned to the watch. Now she had a replica of the compass Jack Sparrow had. "Not bad! I'm loving this transfiguration class. Now if I could learn to control the aquamenti I'd be all right then." She winked at Alice. She had missed her overflowing the cauldron in potions.
"Aquamenti?" she looked at Jaina with curiosity. Had Alice missed something hilarious? maybe bad? Well whatever it was it probably made Jaina's hair turned a different colour. She watch Jaina turn her compass into one that pirates or british sailors would've used. "Not bad Jaina. Looks cool" she smiled and pointed at the compass.
Hmmm. Isabelle turned and stared at the boy for a minute or two. He was just sat there, looking at the watch, and crossing his arms. Not even a hint of trying to perform the spell, or practise the wand movement or incantation. "Excuse me," she eventually said, taking a step nearer to him. "Would you mind telling me why you are not participating in the class like everyone else?"
Eino looked up nervously at the professor. "I suppose so." He whispered and looked back at the watch, picked it up and showed it to the professor. "I ought to wait to for it to stop talking for it should be awfully rude of me to interrupt it." He whispered and brought the watch very close to the professor's ear so that she could hear the tic-toc sound it was making. He nodded as the professor listened to it and then placed it back on the table. He then stood up and walked very close to the professor, stood on the tip of his toes, covered the side of his face, so that the watch wouldn't hear him, and whispered in the professor's ear. "Would you please silence it? I grow irritated by its tic-ing, but mostly by its toc-ing. Should you do that and I would be able to practice the spell." He then returned to his seat.
"Right everyone," she smiled from her position by the window. "It would seem that you are all set with the incantation, now onto the wand movement." Isabelle took out her own wand again and held it in front of her for them all to see. "Firstly you make a small cross shape - top to bottom, left to right. Then you carry that through to a small circle shape finished by a gentle jab at the item you are changing. But you do not need to touch it." She demonstrated what she meant by applying it to the watch she had left on her desk. Cross shape, circle, jab. "One long, fluid movement, no stopping and starting or it won't work correctly.... Comletia!" With a poof the watch became a bright red compass, similar colouring to what the watch had been. She held it up for them to see.
"Now if you wish to change the appearance even further, beyond merely making it a compass, you need to concentrate even harder, and more completely on what you wish the final object to look like." Placing the new compass back down on the desk, Issy leant her bum against it as she looked at the kids. "Concentration and intent are key to making sure you get the exact thing you are aiming for. Now please practice the wand movement without the incantation, and once you feel you have mastered it, move on to doing the two together."
Feeling the cool air blow on her face, Isabelle closed her eyes and smiled. It was helping. "If you make any mistakes, or simply want to keep practising more than the once - which I hope you do - I shall revert the compass back for you to a watch, or you can ask one of the older students for help with that. I'm sure they'd be more than willing." Right? "You may begin."
He had to force himself to draw out of his thoughts and concentrate on the lesson. It wasn't hard to know what a compass looked like given all the time he spent camping and exploring the wilderness with his family. A slight pang ran through him at some of the memories, and he pushed them aside in favor of practicing the wand movement. Cross, circle, point and jab. Cross, circle, point and jab. Cross, circle, point and jab.
He continued the mantra until all he could see in his mind's eye was a compass before him and only then did the incantation leave his lips with the last jab. "Comletia!." And with a slight pop and a few hisses, the watch rearranged itself and transformed its parts into the simple design he had been thinking of.
With barely any satisfaction, he picked it up and checked the magnetization. North pointed to North. A relief and a good start.
SPOILER!!: Professor Magnus: task

The task seemed a little strange, and for a few moments, he was tempted to simply use knowledge about direction rather than his compass to determine the picture. His movement to a desk at the back of the room, closed off from the other desks gave him a few moments to debate the task. Given that the exercise was to use the compass, he relinquished himself to that and began sketching out the lines under the instructions as his compass showed them to him, double checking as he went.

Nika was afraid that she had not gotton enough practice yet. So instead of participating in the activity she kept trying to get her compass to have more detail. She imagined every little peice, but yet could not get it right."Err Professor, I am having trouble adding detail to my compass. I was able to make a compass, but it's very plain and simple."

Isabelle stopped and looked at the kids to make sure they were paying attention, or if she wasn't making sense and they had questions.
*snuggles you all*
Charley eagerly copied the instructions, then moved to the cubicle closest to where she had been sitting.
Using the Hover Charm-extremely smart family members are worth having-she spun her desk so it pointed towards the North, adjusting it manually once she gently set it back onto the floor. With her wand she pulled another piece of parchment from her bag and laid it on the desk, then sat down. She was pleased to see her compass did point to magnetic North. She began working on the task assigned her.
ooc: early night, I'll put the picture in tomorrow. <3

Helena tried to note down every instruction. She looked puzzled at professor Magnus; she didn't understand what she had to do.
Maybe I'll stay out of this, she thought. But she wanted to do the task.
She slowly raised her hand. "Professor? Is it okay if I won't do this?"
"Oh course it is, dear. If you'd prefer to just keep practising you can." Isabelle smiled at the young girl who had spoken. She didn't expect them all to do it, if they didn't want to. "But if you need something explaining just ask me."

Hehe.
Her compass? "Oh yes, of course Evelyn. One moment." Walking to her desk, Issy picked up the compass she had transfigured and went back to the Slytherin. "Here you go. I just used a basic one for the example, but you can make the casing and face more intricate if you concentrate enough," she smiled.

He whispered and brought the watch very close to the professor's ear so that she could hear the tic-toc sound it was making.
O________o Whut?
Isabelle flinched slightly as the boy stretched up and put the watch to her ear. Ticking, yesss. It was meant to do that. Unless it was broken of course and --- He wanted her to make it stop? Riiiight. What a sweet kid. Even if he was uncomfortably close to her ear. "Stop it talking? Urr, okay, yes, I can do that for you, if you feel it would help," she stuttered, still unsure if he was being serious or taking the Michael. Of course she could have just taken out the battery, but figured that maybe he might be offended by that. So instead Isabelle tapped it with her wand and raised her eyebrows in a questioning manner. "Better?" Well it was silent anyway.

SPOILER!!: Chris's Paper
Ahh her first student who was going to try the task. Inwardly, and outwardly actually, Isabelle was smiling as she watch the boy move seats. She was of course going to be walking around the room to see how they were getting on. She didn't really like to sit down for long, and the kids that were practising seemed to be alright on their own for now.
Walking behind Riley's desk as he drew, she nodded to herself. He had done well with his directions. Obviously a working, and readable compass. "Well done, Riley," she smiled, flicking her wrist and removing his walls. Collecting his drawing, she gave him a pat on the shoulder. "You can continue to try and get different styles for your compass if you wish."

Once he was settled, Simon took out a spare piece of parchment and his quill and set it out along with the instructions beside them. "It would seem that you are, Simon. Well done, it looks good." Yes, another one that was correct. So not only could they transfigure properly, they could also follow instructions well. Brilliant. A flick and his walls were removed as well. "As I said to Riley, you may keep practising to try and get more intricate designs. It will help with your concentration for spells in general." Charley herself, though, was concerned. Her brows furrowed and the ends of her mouth turned down; her lips pursed. Benjamin was so much like her father and Nathaniel; if he was a nice boy, he shouldn't turn out like they did. Or as Nathaniel did; Charley didn't know her father to be a bad man.
"Are you alright there, Ellie?" Isabelle had made her way around to the desk occupied by the young Ravenclaw. The Ravenclaw that appeared to be getting a bit agitated. Maybe it had something to do with the half watch, half compass in front of her? "Anything I can help with?"

Line 3: Draw a line from North East towards the West side of your parchment. Line 4: Draw a line from West to South East. Line 5: Draw a line from South East to North - finishing by connecting to the place you started in.
When that was done, he folded it up and stood to indicate he was done.
Ooooh a stander. And it was the boy who had seemed distracted earlier. Isabelle gave him a small smile as she looked at him over the top of his cubicle. "You can stay where you are for now, no need to stand, dear." She walked over and stood behind his chair. It certainly looked good. Putting her hand on his back she guided him back down into his seat and removed his walls. Taking the paper from him, she grinned - maybe hoping her smile might lift his mood. "Keep practising until the end of class, eh? Try different things - designs and such."

Kita was... confused to say the least. The wand movement made no sense whatsoever. Maybe she was just being silly for no reason.
Ok, so it's a cross, circle and a jab. She waved her wand without saying the words and realised that it was easier than she thought it was. Now it was time for the final step.
She took out her wand and cleared her throat, making sure to glare at the watch. She brought her wand down, round in a circle and gave a sharp jab at the watch whilst crying, "Comletia!" Nothing.
She frowned and sighed. This was going to be more difficult than she thought. Cross, circle and jab! "Comletia!" she cried again. Still nothing.
"Why won't you turn into a compass?" she said, glaring at the watch. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Once more, she made that particular wand movement and cried, "Comletia!"
And that's when it happened. The watch started to turn and before she knew it, it was a compass. "Yes!" she screamed, throwing her hands up in the air, "This is a good day!"
Kita looked up at the board and read the instructions about what to do next. Hm... A task. Interesting... she thought as she scribbled down the instructions quickly.
SPOILER!!: Instructions
Create a diagram using the following instructions, and your compass:
Line 1: Starting at the top (North) of your parchment draw a diagonal line in the direction of South West.
Line 2: Continuing from that line, draw a line from South West to North East.
Line 3: Draw a line from North East towards the West side of your parchment.
Line 4: Draw a line from West to South East.
Line 5: Draw a line from South East to North - finishing by connecting to the place you started in.
She moved to a desk at the back of the classroom with her compass, parchment, quill and ink. She couldn't help gulping loudly as the walls came up. Now she was truly alone. "Right, do your magic, compass," she whispered to her compass.
First of all was north. She looked down at her compass and turned her desk so that she was facing north. She put a point on her parchment indicating north and started drawing.
Once she finished, she looked down at her drawing and smiled. She was pretty sure she did it correctly. And her drawing looked... ok.
SPOILER!!: Drawing
She stood up and looked over the top of the cubicle at the Professor. "Professor, i'm done," she said.

Ellie looked up at the professor. Was her struggling that obvious? Heh.
She siggggghhhhhed. "It's the band, I swear. It's throwing me off." Totally.
She continued to turn the compass/watch thing around, watching the needle move. It still worked, seeeeee. She did....okay.
It never took her this long to get a spell in Kingsley's classes. But, unlike with Bishop, she wasn't going to blame this professor. She...she liked her. Yup.
Treyen was right with this one.
The girl put the compass/watch back on her desk so the professor could see it.
SIGH.

Sabel couldn't help but jump a little as he felt, more than heard the teacher come up behind him. And even then, when he knew she was there, he jumped again when she put her hand on his back and guided him back into his chair. Clearly he was high strung. His eyes went up to her and he blinked at her suggestion, not sure if she meant practicing converting the watch or using the compass. Given the 'designs' bit, he figured perhaps it was the later and attempted to return her smile. It was a weak rendition and he knew it, so he nodded his head and quickly turned his attention to getting out a new piece of paper to focus his mind on coming up with some random designs. For some he used his compass in front of him, for others they were simply from the compass in his mind.

You can start, please."
... oh.
After quickly jotting down the instructions, Jake frowned slightly as he looked around at the walls that had suddenly sprung up. Mmmmmkay. He was more worried about the fact that he KNEW he hadn't been concentrating earlier.
Quickly looking around him and seeing only walls and the window, Jake picked up his wand again and cast a quick 'reverto' on his compass. It was immediately a pocket watch again. "Comletia!" he cast on the watch again, this time able to focus a bit and needing to, at that. He imagined a fully functional compass again on the pocket watch, and focused suuuuuuuuuuper hard.
And there it was.
Reading through his instructions again, Jake could SEE what the picture was in his mind's eye, but did the task anyway. It was worth seeing if the compass worked, right?
However, he didn't feel the need to move his desk at all. The needle was just pointing towards the front of the class and continued to point there as he turned the compass.
Figuring he had due North wrong already, Jake shrugged and got to work.
When he finally looked at it, Jake blinked. It looked... odd. Like... the instructions had confused him somewhat, so now he had some weird looking... thing. So, by labelling the edges of his parchment in a fixed position, he tried again.
Raising his hand, Jake called Magnus over.
"Professor... first time I tried it... I don't think it worked. Because if you go in those directions from the point you're at, you get this..." He pushed the first bit forwards.
SPOILER!!: weird
"But if you label certain points that line up with the compass from the middle of the page I got this... which is still a bit... weird."
SPOILER!!: rawrr
Jake ran a hand through his hair. "I think I'm just not focused toda-" Before he could finish his sentence, Jake suddenly burst into a coughing fit. He managed to put his hands over his mouth first, but it had that bleh sound to it, a deep and hollow grating noise, like a heavy wheeze.
"Sorry..."

Line 5: Draw a line from South East to North - finishing by connecting to the place you started in.
*snuggles you all*
Finally. A new task, Alice smiled and looked at the board. She copied down the instructions the Professor instructed then watched as walls were built around her desk. "Well..Lets get started shall we?" she mumbled to herself and took a piece of parchment out. She quickly scribbled the answer to the assignment, Alice sighed and placed the quill back into the holder.
SPOILER!!: Task :3
Alice picked the parchment up from her desk and walked over to the Professor hoping she wasn't late for handing them in. "P...Professor.Magnus..I completed the task..I am not late..right?" she asked the Professor shyly and held the parchment out with both hands.

Or, you know, Issy could do it for her.
"Reverto," Kurumi commanded as the melted portion of her pocket watch was sucked back into it and it returned to looking as it had been before. "I'm alright, Professor." Kurumi nodded looking back at the pocket watch. "I tend to make the same mistake each time I try a new spell though. I put a little too much passion into it, and , well, things melt or explode..." she mumbled that last part through blushing cheeks. She smiled nervously and shrugged her shoulders at the professor before returning her attention to the watch.
Okay, once again, less passion. Kurumi closed her eyes for a moment. It probably would help if she created an image of a compass she knew in her head...too bad the only compass she could remember at the moment was the one from a muggle book series she had read. That was certainly not going to help her with directions... Then, she remembered a compass her other brother Takashi had had - gold ridges and a deep blue center. Here we go again!
Kurumi repeated the wand motion as well as the spell in as clear a voice as she could manage - without going overboard this time and watched at her pocket watched changed from, well, whatever shape that was into a circle. After a few moments, Kurumi had her compass

Scribbling with the chalk, instead this time of using magic for it, she wrote out another set of instructions.
Turning her attention back to the class, she cleared her throat to get their attention. "Those of you that wish to continue practising, please do so. Taking out a fresh piece of parchment, Kurumi first wrote down the instructions on the board before moving to her own cubicle to start the activity. Kurumi set her compass down on the desk towards the top and put the parchment below it for easy reference. Kurumi slowly moved her desk as she kept a watchful eye on the compass to make sure that she was able to have it facing directly North. Picking up her quill, Kurumi then drew a line. She felt like she was back in calligraphy class in Japan. Looking up at the next set of instructions, Kurumi repeated to draw lines until she had completed the shape.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment
A pentagram? Well, there wasn't the circle encasing it, so it wasn't a proper one, but more like a star polygon. Representing five elements, the human star...was there a reason they were drawing one?
Kurumi rolled up her parchment and exited her cubicle so that the next student could use it.
