I kid you not, this is one tree you don’t want to mess with. It's best you keep a safe distance from the Whomping Willow’s tree limbs or you may end up with a few broken limbs yourself.

Alex had been wandering around the grounds for a little while now, but the one place he had been dying to visit was the Whomping Willow. He'd heard all about this mythical tree that beat anyone to a pulp if they got too close--and given his interest in Herbology and outdoorsy things, it was definitely high up on his "to check out" list. Everyone was fussing over visiting the lake, but who wanted to hang out at a big puddle of water when they could see a tree that beat people up?!

Well, ok. The Giant Squid and the Merpeople in the lake were cool. But other than that, tree trumped lake every time in his opinion.

He wandered around the perimeter of the tree, looking at it in awe while keeping a good distance away from it. HE didn't want to get hit by the tree but he had to admit, if someone else got hit it might be interesting.

Gosh. He was a horrible person. BUT he just wanted to view it for...observational purposes, of course!

He did however take notice to a rather lanky kid who was making his way around the tree. Rafe raised an eyebrow and tilted his head as he watched the boy with curiosity. "You might want to be careful around that!" Rafe called to the boy. "His branches reach out a lot further than one might think!" Rafe was speaking from experience of course. He went on a scavenger hunt that didn't end well. He'd hate to see the same fate happen to the young boy as well.

Noticing that the boy returned her smile, Kurumi felt it would be awkward to not say anything. If she smiled back, for example, then he would return the smile and they could be sitting there smiling at each other for hours. No, best to use some of that Gryffindor bravery and go say hello. "H-H-H-hello," Kurumi said bowing her head.

Alina Francis left the common room since it was way to crowded with ~~very highly obnoxious~~ older people that thought they were all that. Gosh, people these days. Didn't they realize that this little firstie was going to be all that? DIDN'T THEY? Of course not. They didn't know Alina Francis but just give it a few days... all of Hogwarts will know who the new Queen Bee was.

With nothing to do, the young redhead made her way down to the grounds, not expecting at all to see what she saw.

Her parents had, of course, told her all about that tree but she thought it was just something they made up but everything they had said was true.The tree that actually hit people across the head was realistic! She stood, with a shocked expression on her face, and stared at the tree.

Wow.

It was even more of an astonishment when she noticed this boy wondering around tree, making it look like he was trying to find the perfect place to start climbing thing or something like that. Gigglesnort. Taking a seat on the grass, she watched him. Maybe, just maybe, he would climb the tree.

Leaving the lake Georgiana went to see the Whomping Willow, she has heard that it can hit you, if you get too near.

Keeping her distance she sat down, watching all the ground of Hogwarts. Merlin! it was all like a dream, maybe she sounded like a muggle because she was overwhelmed by it, but who can't be amazed by all of this! she was so happy to be here and was expecting to be a great year.

She watched the sky and feeling like daydreaming, hoping not to sleep there

she didn't wanted to get hit by the tree.

Dozer had been sauntering around the grounds, getting reacquainted with the School he had missed so much. Breathing in the fresh air made him smile. Since Ethan and Trent had yet to make an appearance Dozer was getting a little antzy and a bit lonely.

A derisive snort accompanied that thought. A guy...lonely.

*Sigh*

Dozer was so preoccupied with his thoughts that he almost didn't see the little Slytherin lying on the ground. Pausing he looked down at her with an amused grin. "How's the weather down there?"

Geezzz. It seemed like the first years just kept getting smaller.

Alex jumped, unaware that anyone had been watching him, and looked at the boy who had just addressed him. He was older, and looked rather hairy. I feel your pain there, brother, he thought to himself, thinking of his own long hair that tended to get in the way at times.

"Really?" he asked in a bit of a shock. How far COULD they go?! Not wanting to wait around to see if the boy spoke the truth, he jumped about two feet back, just to be safe. "Thanks," he said to the boy. He didn't want to get smashed into a billion tiny Badger pieces before school even started!

As Alex watched the tree, wondering now just how far those moving branches of it could reach, he noticed someone ELSE watching it. What was this, spy-on-Alex day? He wasn't THAT interesting, he was certain. He turned and looked at the girl with a puzzled expression. He certainly didn't know her. Maybe she had mistaken him for someone else? He raised his hand and waved at her awkwardly.

"Erm...hi?" he said in confusion. Yes, he certainly didn't know this girl. Yet there she was. Watching him. Like a hawk. And it was odd and made him uncomfortable.

"I'm Georgiana and you?... would you like to sit down?" she said not sure what she was doing. Anyway she was lonely and wanted to talk with someone.

Valerie gazed around the school grounds. It was exciting, being here at Hogwarts. Sure a little overwhelming but neverless it was fun. She couln't help but make her way towards the big tree. It wasn't the prettiest but she found it interesting.

Her parents had told her about this tree but she had figured they had been lieing. But they weren't!

Was that boy waving at her? Ha, the nerve! From Alina's point of view, he looked like a complete nerd and she wasn't the one that talked to nerds. This girl was very content on being completely normal without inferring with people who play Wizard Chess in their dormitories and stayed in the classroom even after class was over because they loved learning. Yeah, she stayed FAR away from those kind of people.

And this boy looked like one of those kind of people.

Her mum always told her to be nice to people when they spoke... and this boy just had to speak to her. "Um... hello?" She greeted him back, ~~and it was soooooo not in a mocking way.~~ "And hello to you too." She looked over at the other boy that had joined the nerdy looking boy before she had said anything.

"I'm Alina Francis." She might as well let them know who she was.

Alex blinked. Why was SHE confused? She was the one staring! It shouldn't be a surprise to her that he decided to finally address her. What did she think was going to happen when she stared at someone like that? Silly girl. This was why Alex preferred guy friends. Girls were just WEIRD. He should know, he grew up with two of them!

"Nice to meet you Alina. I'm Alex Greingoth," he introduced himself, wanting to be polite since she'd just introduced herself. She looked about his age, but it was really hard to tell. He was quickly learning that peoples looks didn't necessarily match there year. He was a shining example of that with all his height. "What year are you?" he asked.

She finally stood up from the ground so she wouldn't ~~be that intimidated by his height~~ strain her neck by looking allllll the way up there at him. "I'm a first year," she said. "Are you a seventh year or somewhere up there with the older crowd?" Because he looked like one! Except for the baby face, that made it kinda hard to tell if he was younger or not, but she was sticking with her guess of him being a seventh year until she was told otherwise!

He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped at her words. She had obviously been daydreaming and was a little surprised to have been addressed. His smile widened at her politeness and he nodded.

"Sure. I'm Dozer. Nice to meet you Georgiana." Hmmm....that was quite a grown up name for such a small girl. Though, she wouldn't stay small and young forever would she.

Pulling himself from his thoughts he sat down next to her. "So, got sorted into Slytherin I see. Good house to be in I suppose. Though not as good as Ravenclaw but I might be a bit biased."

Huh. Well SOMEONE thought quite highly of themselves, didn't they? How come everyone he was meeting today seemed to think they were better than everyone else? First the Slytherins--oh the Slytherins. He would not be surprised if this girl was a Slytherin. She just had that LOOK about her. Yes she did. Although he did find himself chuckling when she mentioned his name. No one had brought that up yet, which surprised him to be honest. Even his height seemed more interesting than his name, which he thought was rather unique. "It's spelled G-R-E-I-N. It's still pronounced like the color, though," he explained.

SEVENTH year?! That was a high guess, even with his height. He hadn't gotten that yet! The highest anyone had guessed so far was fifth year. "Actually, I'm a first year too, believe it or not," he explained with a small chuckle. He needed to get it tattooed across his forehead or something!
