I kid you not, this is one tree you don’t want to mess with. It's best you keep a safe distance from the Whomping Willow’s tree limbs or you may end up with a few broken limbs yourself.
"You got that right." Di mumbled as she stood up with the help of the girl. This was pretty lame and embarrassing for her. Gladly, not much dirt was placed on her clothes although her knee and hand was still bleeding.
"So uh..thanks," Di said.
"I'm Dianna." she continued as she held out her left then switched to the right hand forward.
Elektra looked at the Willow and she scoffs. "Angry bugger." she looks back at the girl seeing her cut hand extended out first then here quickly switching it and Elektra shakes her hand. "Elektra. Nice to meet you Dianna."
Watching the Willow that Whomps, eh? As he so guessed! He made a 'hmm' sound and nodded. "I think it's been proven countless times that that tree does knock people down, no?" Cedric, of course, based his answer upon reading books. But looking at Melanie's statement the other way round, could it be possible that she was actually expecting the Whomping Willow to knock someone over or something right here right now? Hmm. That was most interesting. He for one would like to see if the tree would do something out of hand or horrid.
"Maybe so." Cedric whistled coolly. "It likes you as it seems." Hehe.
"You think it's been proven." she replied, eyebrows going up a bit at his comment. "But you've never actually seen it happen." Or did he? Because it would be pretty awesome if he did! "For all you know it's a peaceful tree, wrongly portrayed in all aspects." She grinned to show that she was only kidding. Even Melanie knew better than that. The girl was firmly convinced that the Whomping Willow had whomped on quite a few people in its time... Unless the name was meant to be ironic...
It liked her? "Well, if liking someone is the same thing as not attacking someone, it must like you pretty well too." she stated, laughing lightly.

Kurumi shook her head. Was he under the impression that she was attacking his ideas? She wasn't, she was simply stating facts. It wasn't like she was an expert on Hogwarts and the wizarding world either. She had only learned it existed two weeks before her first year had started. "I think you are missing the point...non-magical methods of spying are just not going to work. Its like, trying to stick a square peg in a circular hole. Not to mention I don't see how you are going to be able to see the reflection of a mirror in Hogsmeade all the way from Hogwarts castle," Kurumi continued calmly scratching her head. "You are welcome to try, if you insist. I think your time would be much more well spent trying to fit a circular peg into that hole though." Like, figure out how to spy using magical items. It wasn't like they were in short supply or anything. "Many of the things found in joke shops could be useful." Why would any one want to relay on non-magical things to work in Hogwarts in the first place?
She did feel just a bit offended by his next comment. "I grew up in a non-magical environment. I didn't know I was a witch until last term," and just recently that I am a Metamorphagus. "I'm just saying that you need to think things through and do your research."

"Don't go wandering near any dangerous trees again, right?" His smile continued on as he chuckled a bit. Even though he appeared to seem calm, Deus couldn't help but still feel slightly shaken. Braeden could have been a goner, if not for his handy wandwork. Amadeus Alfred Kipling was a hero. Glancing back towards the tree, Amadeus noticed that the spell was beginning to wear off. The whomping willow seemed to be shaking his branches in their general direction, as if it were a decrepit old man telling two crazy youngsters to get off of his lawn.
"Are you alright?" Amadeus asked calmly, taking a thorough look at Braeden as he echoed himself from a few minutes before.
"Yes, sir!" said Braeden, giving Deus a military greeting, as if the boy was an officer in an army, before chuckling softly and bringing his hand down. Man. And to think he had almost died just a moment ago... Deus was... his hero! *O* Braeden could almost hear the harp playing in the background as the golden rays of the sun shone over his heroic friend who was looking ever so smug, like the perfect Roman statue. A choir of angels had now joined the harp music in the background.
And then the little hallucination faded away and Deus was more seriously asking him if he was okay. "Now I am," replied Braeden with a lopsided grin. "Thanks for that, Mate," he added. "I dunno what I'd do without you."

Amadeus felt a slight blush creep up his cheeks but repressed it, knowing that it wasn't proper to do such a thing. "I don't know what you would do either." He teased, kicking up a tuft up grass with the toe of his shoe. Taking a hand to sweep back his hair, he turned to face the school as the grey sky began to darken. "Do you think we should head in for supper? We both need a hearty meal after that ordeal." In reality, Amadeus was really eager to spread the news of his heroism around Hogwarts and milk the situational cow for all it was worth, but his words made sense.
"Oh, one last thing." He whipped out his wand once more and aimed it in the direction of the tree. "You lost a ball, right?" Without waiting for an answer, Amadeus muttered, "Accio!" and a quick jet of light flew towards the willow. Within moments, a football was soaring towards them and landed on the grass near Brae's feet with a soft thump. Amadeus was truly attempting to be a dashing hero today.
Levi wandered onto the grass, gazing up at the destructive tree in amazement. He had seen it before, being a third year but it still never failed to fascinate him. He had heard a lot of stories of this immense plant and how easily it could crush a person if they got too close so he stood a good meter away. He had never seen a tree this vast. Back home, most of the trees were dying and the branches stretched out like the raggedy arms of a scarecrow. It was almost hard to come to terms with the fact that something like this tree existed. He always wondered if there any others like it out in the world; it was too remarkable...

"Well, I can help you out with Christmas," Kurumi shrugged. "I'm not going home." She had far too much research to do in the library to be able to afford going home.

Kurumi nodded to the newcomer. Wait, now they were talking about ways for them all to be able to communicate with each other? Kurumi was under the impression that they were talking about how to keep tabs on what was going on.
"Hello, Matty," Kurumi said with a slight bow. "If we are just needing away to stay connected," which she was under the impression was not what they were talking about, "then we should just use the Protean Charm on something common."

"I've got something like that. It wont be out to the public until next fall."
*Pulling a small pocket notebook out of his back pocket.*
"It's a WNB, Wizard Note Book. My uncle invented it, it's a lot like a muggle cell phone. Do you mean something like this?"
"I suppose there is a chance it could work in Hogsmeade," Kurumi said shrugging her shoulders. "I don't see how that would help though. Isn't the spying you want to do here at Hogwarts? If a recorder doesn't work at Hogwarts, it is not magically going to have a conversation recorded and ready to play at Hogsmeade." Or maybe Kurumi was missing something?
Albert? Mr. Ikenna certainly did not look like an Albert. She supposed that he looked more like a Kevin.
She glanced at Michael. "Off? I don't think our professors are off," she said a bit offended. Dragon Lady was always off, but that wasn't any news to her. "I'd say they are more trying to get us to think critically about what is going on around us. I mean, did you see those posters and graffiti in Diagon Alley over the summer? Not to mention the Quibbler! There are some serious changes trying to happen in the wizarding world. I think our professors are just trying to help us figure out what side we are on. You know, what really is best for us and wizardingkind." Surely their discussion in Defense Against the Dark Arts showed that.

All this talk of spying was getting on the puff’s nerves. She wasn’t sure if she even wanted a part of it, she just wanted to discuss what was going on. So, she decided to ignor that part of the conversation.
Emmaleigh shook her head a Kurumi’s remarks. “The only posters I saw in Diagon Alley were for YWHO, and I don’t know what the Quibbler is. What were they about, the Statute?” she asked. The girl recalled the comments Gevrik had made at the feast. “Do you think the, um, curriculum change is forced by the ministry?”
Seeing Matty walk up, Em found herself being a bit startled. She didn’t mid him being here, she just found it odd that Michael had asked him to come. AND, she still needed to talk to him in private. The girl looked on curiously as the boy pulle d out his notebook. “So, what’s it do?” she asked.

"Well like this." *Opening the notebook and pulling his wand out he tapped a name that said Uncle Gabben. The page cleared and using his wand like a quill he wrote Hello uncle, how are you? After a few seconds letters came up in gold curvy writing saying Hello Matthias. I'm alright, did you get my books? Matty wrote down a few other things then shut the notebook.*
"Pick who you want to talk to, and you can talk to them instantly. My uncle who I just spoke to is all the way in Sweden. Only WNB users can use these and see only what they have on their notebook. They only way someone else can see what is in your notebook is if the owner allows it."
Cass headed for the Whomping Willow with a grim expression on her face. It was freezing outside, but she needed to do her transfiguration homework, and she couldn't very well do it inside because everyone was sooo noisy.
She sat down on a patch of grass, a distance away from the killer tree, tightened her scarf around her neck and brought out the watch that she had been given in class. Then she set it down on the ground and brought out her wand.
"Comletia, Comletia, Completia..." She said repeatedly in an off-handed manner until the watch had turned into a simple compass. Not exactly what she had been hoping for...but it was still a compass..
SPOILER!!: Simple compass
Then she stared at it for a moment before returning the watch - now a compass - into her pocket. She needed a much warmer place to practice...
Elektra looked at the Willow and she scoffs. "Angry bugger." she looks back at the girl seeing her cut hand extended out first then here quickly switching it and Elektra shakes her hand. "Elektra. Nice to meet you Dianna."
Dianna had to laugh at what the girl had just said. "Very brave saying that to the tree.." Di nodded in approval. She liked that.
Limping to a nearby rock, Di sat down and got out her handkerchief in which she used to wrap her bleeding knee. "Elektra. Nice name." she said. You don't hear those names very often. "So what's your house?" she asked.
"Doing great, thanks" Rex told Justin. "Well, the tree hurt me two terms ago ,but I am not afraid of it at all" Rex said to Justin." Cool, glad you can write your own music" Rex smiled.
Justin smiled. "Good to hear" he replied. Looking up at the tree again, Justin shrugged. "To be honest, it isn't quite as scary as it looks. I don't think it is. It's just incredibly dangerous" he said. Teehee. "I guess I just write music about stuff that's happened in my life"

The young girl stood on her tippy-toes to watch what Matty was doing. "Wow." she said quietly in amazement as words from the boy's uncle. She thought a moment about all that he had said. "Are you absolutely sure they can't be cracked, by anyone?" Emmaleigh asked. From what Brit had said, it wouldn't be useful around Albert, but maybe it could be safely used around the professors. "And you said they wouldn't be available until next fall? Would we be able to get some, and how much will they cost?"

He enjoyed a good conversation, and if students came to him to discuss a problem or, say, their future plans, he was more than glad to offer them the help that he could. But there was also a drawback to being available most of the time. The ladies.
"I guess." He gave a broad-shouldered shrug. "Though things can get a little odd at times." He still didn't know how to tackle female students that found him... attractive? Something of that sort. But he answered her next question readily, "I do. It's a considerable change, but it's lovely. Refreshing." Not having to actively avoid giant creatures that can devour one, you know?
"Charms." He smiled, lightly tapping the ground with his wand as she sat down, so that her clothes might remain free of dirt and dust. He did it almost instinctively, like a habit, the action both casual and graceful. "You teach Arithmancy?"
So he was a first name kind of guy, eh? Except that she didn't know his first name sadly, but she'd find out . . . somehow. Even if she had to stalk follow him to his office and check out his nameplate. "Charming," she replied back, knowing it was a nice nonchalant reply that wouldn't give any clue that she didn't know his name. Besides, what guy didn't like to be called Charming? Especially one who was a charms Professor.
A little odd at times? "Well yes ... weirdness could be found lurking around every corner at Hogwarts." Josephina stated, pulling her knees up to her chest and hugging them slightly. Leaning the side of her face against her legs, she looked over at him. "But is there something ... specific maybe to you ... with the oddness?" If he didn't agree with some of the beliefs going around Britain these days, then perhaps that might explain it? Unless it was something else . . .
"Thank you though," She nodded gratefully as he tapped the ground with what she presumed to be a dirt-free charm. Sweet one, he was. "Yes. Numbers, you could say, are my forte. But I did teach Charms for two years at a school in South Africa. So I'd say I'm rather adept in that subject as well." You know, just to prove that she wasn't all numbers and she knew how to hold her own with a wand.

Learning to take it in his stride. People can get used to an amazing lot. Something specific? "Ladies?" Jared said, mildly amused at her question. He hadn't expected her to ask, and he had a feeling she hadn't expected him to respond with that.
"De rien," he said, realizing what she must have thanked him for. He hadn't thought of it as something to be thanked for, but he supposed she might see it so. "Multi-talented, I see." He'd never been particularly excellent at her subject, though his Arithmancy grades had been fine. Consistently good. "How did the transition come about?" From charms to numbers. "If I may ask, of course," he added, politely. In the case it might be something personal. He had no cause or wish to pry.
"You have to use your wand to write a message. If someone else uses their wand or even your own and pretends to be you it wont work. It's charmed to know your touch and only your touch."
*Matty passed it to Em so she could see it.*
"My uncle invented them, he post loads of protection spells on them and un see-able charms. The bad thing is that they are about 75 Gallions... each... and that would be the cheap one's... but... I can get a few of the older models. They only hold up to three contacts and can only send WNB's if the other user has you in their book."
*Looking over to Mikey he asked.*

Oh this one was a joker, wasn't he? Letting out a small smile of amusement Josephina pulled her head up and away from her legs. It was rather lovely out for a November day, she decided, as she breathed in the fresh air.
Centre-stage? Raising an eyebrow at him peculiarly, she hadn't quite caught onto what he was talking about . . . Weirdness was ... he was in the center of the weirdness? OH! WAIT ... WHAT?! Well sure he wasn't a bad looking guy, but she guessed looks weren't the first things she noticed. Teenage girls chased him though? Interesting .... She only recalled having one teenage male who seemed attracted to her. "My condolences. If you ever need another hideaway spot, especially with the cold months coming upon us, my office is only located right on the third floor. I've got a puppy and a kitten for you to play with too." You know, just offering. Being the friendly colleague she knew she could be.
De rien? Was that some sort of French for saying he just passed gas? Like an excuse me? Hmm ... No wait, maybe it was the charm? Either way, "Salute". You know, just politeness and all; natural Italian response. "I do try ... it's nice to have at least some basic understandings in multiple subjects." The transition? "Not to bad. I've been working with numbers most of my life actually. I did some freelance numerology readings in South Africa and a variety of other countries, so I've kept myself up-to-date." Not to mention the future was always a fascinating thing. That and cryptic messages.
