A set of paths link the courtyard to various areas of the grounds. It’s nice to walk along either on your own or with a friend. The trees on either side of the path help to create a light atmosphere. So go on, take your time and soak up the fresh air, heaven knows students need it.

Fletcher was slowing down, both in his walking speed and his peanut-consuming rate, as he rounded a corner toward a tree happily waving its branches in the breeze. It looked happy, at least, so he was starting to feel happy by the sight of the thing. Heck, maybe the happy tree would let him happily sit by its roots and eat its peanuts and then he could climb up the happy trunk and---

"UMPH!" the GlitterPuff's happy thoughts were interrupted by a shove from behind. He caught himself before he stumbled and tripped too far, however, and once he had regained his pace he turned around to see who had pushed him and his happy.

Oh it was just some clumsy girl. "No big deal," he replied, shoving his hands in his pockets to check on the status of his peanuts. He was just happy that he hadn't spilled any in that near-fatal stumble. "I was walking slow any--- WHOAAA."

Happiness, interrupted. Again.

Fletcher had no words OR thoughts for a moment as he just allowed his eyes to grow as big as saucers. "Whoa. WHOA."

Kita could feel her ribs starting to hurt after all the laughing. But that certainly wasn't going to stop her. Feeling out of breath, she stopped laughing slowly but the lok on Fee's face made her laugh even more.

Oh no! The boy was going to fall over because she had run into him! Then he caught himself and she let out a quiet breath of relief. Wait...was he holding peanuts? She looked behind her and noticed the trail of peanuts. Gasp! He was the one who had been eating the peanuts. She had stepped on many of the shells. Ehh...she wasn't going to dieee, but stepping on peanuts shells got annoying after a while.

Then the boy turned around and...

Her jaw dropped practically to the ground almost. Wha---WHAT?!!! He was just staring at her with wide eyes and kept repeating 'whoa'. Heck yeah WHOA! Sadie was having a hard time taking in who was standing there. Who she had run into. "Fle--Fle..." was all she could manage to say.

This was awkward. The one person she had been trying to avoid the most was rightttt there. In front of her. Sort of freaking out.

"Fletcher???!!" she finally got out. Eeeeep!

Braeden grinned slightly at the girl's blush - quite proud he was behind it - as he listened to her share her first-year experience at the castle, trying to find the secret passages. "Really? I think I went secret-passage-hunting a few times in my first year, but never found anything," he said with a shrug. "In the end I decided to just follow the upperclassmen when they snuck out of the common room at night. I found more secret passages that way." Which could be considered, of course, the lazy way. Don't leave it up to Braeden to go do the task on his own; nah, he'll find someone who will unintentionally do it for him.

But enough about passage ways, now Ivory was telling him about… a new playing field?! How did he not know of this?! Braeden's brown eyes widened at the idea of a huge piece of land free for anyone to play as much football as they wanted. It sounded like… well, like heaven. And then Ivory was tapping his nose. Braeden went a bit cross-eyed for a second there as he followed her finger to his nose, and laughed lightly as she reminded him there were actual footballs in that field, no bludgers. Thank Merlin for that. "I'll have to check it out then," the boy decided with a nod. "Y'know, I would even invite you to watch me play" - because that was suuuuch an honour. Brae was a very talented football player; he only kicks the ball right to his face about a dozen times - "But in exchange, you'd have to invite me to one of your violin performances." He grinned. He was so clever for coming up with that deal.

"Yeah, I'm pretty close with my little sister," Braeden muttered absentmindedly as Ivory commented on the sweetness of him taking time out for his younger sibling. The boy was now watching his feet move on the pathway without interest, his attention on her words as she went on to add that not everyone gave their siblings the time of day. "Do you have siblings?" he asked curiously, looking up at her again.

Screaming like a maniac..

Her grin widening, Ivory stifled a giggle. "To be honest, I think I would too."

Her concentration wavered for a second as she ducked her face, waiting for her blush to fade away but her smile never left her face. She was enjoying herself after all. He was quite funny. Oh and smart it seemed. "That's an ingenious idea!" She commented in regards to following the older students. Shaking her head ruefully, she thought about how much easier it would've been to just do that her first year. "I wish I would've thought of that, the ones I did find was only because I got lost while exploring." When it came to a sense of direction....suffice to say she was the cliche definition of a female. That is to say, with almost none at all.

But then her mind was on other things because his excitement at the playing field was contagious. Oh, invite her would he? Ivory giggled. "Why watch when I can play too." Kicking another little rock for emphasis, she grinned. Don't get me wrong I probably fall more than I kick the ball itself, but I can get it from point A to point B." Most of the time anyway. Well, more than half of the time??? Maybe watching him play would be the better option. If not for herself, then for everyone else's safety. A wayward ball was a dangerous ball.

" In exchange?" At this, she got just the tiniest bit flustered, almost refusing."But..well," Her teeth worried her lower lip for a second before she answered. "That'd be fair, okay deal." Yes, it was fair. She had to get over her nervousness to play in front of people anyway. Her mind was going berserk for a moment though at the thought. She hadn't really played for anyone besides some family for....well a reaaally long time. A nervous laugh escaping her lips she felt the need to warn him, just in case. "No high expectations though. I have horrible nerves so I don't usually play in front of many people."

But look what was that? A change of topic. Grasping on the little details he was giving, Ivory listened attentively not letting herself get nervous for something she wasn't even sure would happen anytime soon. Yes, distraction that was idea and a question on her siblings was just the right kind. "Boy do I ever. " Nodding her head, she held up three fingers. "Emphasis on the boy. Three little brothers." Braeden flashed Ivory a very large and proud grin as she complimented him on his ingenious methods. Yeahhh, he was pretty smart wasn't he? Heh. He chuckled softly as she confessed that she'd only found some secret passages because she'd gotten lost. "Well, look at the positive side - at least you got to go through an adventure while finding 'em. Following the upperclassmen, while easy, isn't really all that adventurous," he said with a shrug.

As Ivory then suggested the idea of playing football with the boy, Braeden's dark eyebrows rose - he hadn't expected this from the girl - and he soon found himself grinning again. "Don't worry, I'll teach you," he proposed. An invitation which Ivory would be wise to decline - Braeden would probably only end up teaching her how to break her own face with a football and how to trip on her own feet rather than score a goal. Yeahhh, it was best to find a tutor whose name wasn't Braeden Stonem…

And then Ivory was agreeing to playing the violin in front of him. Yay! Braeden gave a goofy lopsided grin at this, his brown eyes nearly sparkling at the idea. He barely heard her warning about not having high expectations. "It doesn't matter, I'm still glad I get to be audience," he said, honestly. "Just use me as practice for when you have to play for a large audience, for one reason or another. Though, y'know, they say it helps to imagine your audience naked. Apparently that takes away the nerves." And then Braeden realized what he was suggesting. GAH! "N-N-N-Not that you s-should imagine me naked-- I mean-- well, if it'll help you-- but, well-- I mean--" Stop. Just stop. He'd already dug his grave. It was best he just stopped talking altogether. Sheepishly, the boy looked away at the greenery with slightly pink cheeks. He could only hope Ivory didn't consider him a huge perv now. Oh great.

Braeden was beyond relieved when the subject changed back to that of siblings. "Three little brothers?" asked the boy, turning his pink face back to the girl at his side with raised eyebrows. "Merlin. And I thought my little sister had it bad having one older brother," he said with a chuckle. "Are they all wizards too?"

That was probably mostly true. The taking pictures part that is. Shrugging her shoulders, she was just going to turn around and head the way she was going before his question made her stop. HE was offering HER to try out the camera? Even after the small incident that just happened and will more than likely be forgotten in the next hour or so?

Seriously?

What was with these guys and their politeness coming up at weird times? Yet, she couldn't deny that she was interested. In the camera that is. It brought up memories of the time Professor Dumont had them taking pictures from around the castle for part of their homework. Though this camera, didn't look like the one she used.

It was the first time, Mia had actually appreciated the cold weather. The brisk air was doing a lot to clear her head and although she wasn't feeling completely back to normal, she was feeling a little better.

She had wanted to write to Nik as soon as soon as she was alone but decided that she would prefer to tell him face to face. Besides there wasn't a lot he could do. This was her problem to sort out.

Stopping about halfway down the pathway, Mia found a large rock, brushing off the snow she sat down and pulled her knees up against her chest.

But he remembered how that worked out last time. Taking a deep sigh he walked over to her and gave her a warm smile. Not sure what to say he said.*

Pulling her coat tighter around her, Mia stared out over the grounds. "You know how I said I wished I knew what you guys were thinking?" She paused for a moment as she watched a couple of students having a snowball fight. "Well I take it back. I would rather be kept in the dark."

*A small pocket notebook wrapped in horrid Christmas wrap was now on her lap.*

Mia stared at the package for a moment before slowly unwrapping it and finding the notebook inside. "It's really beautiful. Thank you." She said, finally giving him a small smile. "I haven't quite finished yours."

She fiddled with the wrapping paper for a moment, a million and one questions running through her head. "Does Sal hate me now, do you think?"

"It like a muggle cell phone only for wizards. Use your wand, pick who you want to send a note to and..."
*Handing her the book back he opened his, pulled out his wand and wrote in it. Mia's book started to grow hot then cold. Inside was the words

Nik has one too, this way you can talk to him more.

Folding up the book he waited for her to open her book and read it.*

"No I don't think he is. It's like Father Christmas. He may not have given you what you asked for last year but you still like him. Sal will come around I'm sure."

Watching as Matty played around with the notebooks, Mia couldn't help the wry smile that spread across her face. "Obviously you haven't seen what I do with a wand in my hand. I am liable to send a message to the wrong person."

She opened the notebook and read what was inside and her eyes widened in surprise. Maybe she would test it out later.

"Maybe." She replied after to listening to what Matty had said. "He seemed pretty mad though." Mia chewed on her bottom lip while she thought about other questions she wanted to ask. "Matty...is that why you don't like Nik? For the same reasons Sal doesn't?"

She finally managed a weak chuckle and she picked up the notebook and placed it inside her jacket. It would be nice to do some instant messaging with Nik.

Mia waited for Matty to explain further but when he didn't she decided not to press him any further. "I know that Nik was a bit of a prat when he first came to Hogwarts but he has done nothing but apologise to me for that." Which she always brushed off because she thought their first meeting was rather amusing.

"He has been nothing but nice to me, Matty and he really does care about me. And I feel very strongly about him." No she was not going to say the 'L' word in front of Matthias. Marie had been the only person who had managed to get her to admit that and she would be the only one.

"I know. At first I thought he was a royal git but he proved me wrong, and I can honestly say now that... I'm okay with it. Mia when I said if your happy then I'm happy I meant it. I was a stupid prat last term about it but I came to realize that my anger and jealousy was all for not. If it meant that I couldn't even be your friend anymore."

*Matty looked her right in the eyes trying to show that he meant every word, and he did. It took him all summer, and in a way he was still working on it but he wasn't upset on it anymore.*

Sakura had wandered away from the lake due to the amount of people there. It got to the point where she just couldn't concentrate and right now she needed that concentration. She'd already made a simple compass but now she needed to make sure that the next one was more intricate. Sakura wasn't sure how well she'd do with the whole intricate part. Well no she was sure she could make the compass intricate but she wasn't sure if she could get an intricate compass to work.

Which was why at the moment she was sticking to simple designs with small design deviations for at least the first few tries. After that she'd try to get to something more difficult or unusual in design.

Right now though she needed to focus on the compass that she wanted to make.

Her last compass had been extremely simple with only the directions marked out on it. This time she was trying to build on that. For this attempt Sakura wanted to add numbers to the compass, and have it as an older looking sort of compass, keeping much of the pocket watches original features.

With the image firmly implanted in her mind Sakura uttered the spell, slightly excited to see the pocket watch turn into the compass she'd envisioned. As far as she was concerned it was excellent. Now to test if it would work...

Walking around Sakura followed the compass, encouraged to see it actually worked properly. Once more she reverted the compass to a pocket watch and practiced changing it into this more intricate looking compass. She had to make sure it worked every time she tried it in this form before moving on.

Mia bit her lip to keep from laughing. She could just imagine how many of the guys, Nik had been a prat to. He was definitely better with the females than he was with the males.

"Thank you Matty. It means a lot to me that you wanted to keep being my friend." She only hoped that Sal would be able to get over his anger as well because she would miss him if she couldn't talk to him anymore. "And I owe you an apology for being giving you a hard time when you were just trying to help me. I was just so...stunned at what Sal had said and then you telling me about my apparent charm." She shook her head, she still couldn't see it.
