Upon entering the office, most people are surprised at its appearance. It looks nothing like what you would expect inside Hogwarts, with soft green walls and light woods floors. The heavy wooden furniture could possibly work, but then you're drawn to the charmed doors. They don't lead anywhere except to a long drop from the tower, but as you look at them, it seems like they do. Professor Bishop likes the look of gardens and such, and this brings them to her when she's not actually outside. Inside the many shelves and cubbyholes of the desk and other furniture are mementos from the professor's travels and her life before she came to Hogwarts, but her prized possession is the delicately inlaid wooden box set on the corner of the desk. This is where she keeps all her writings, and is most likely where she has the rough draft for her next novel.
Comfortable chairs are set on the rug, facing the desk, for students or other visitors, and across from that is a large bookshelf containing any manner of books on Divination, sets of Tarot cards, oracle cards, and other items that can be used in the subject. In one of the corners nearest the "doors" stands an elegant stand where Anastasia, the professor's pet phoenix, can most likely be found, and on the floor next to the desk is a cushion for her crup puppy, Bowie.
Once you are invited in, feel free to take a seat, pet Bowie, or look around. Just don't touch anything unless you are given express permission to do so. Professor Bishop is very particular about her belongings.
ooc: Please do not post in here unless you have posted in the corridor thread first and been invited inside. (or have otherwise been given permission) Thank you.

The cat had his ears down in displeasure for being held with his stubby legs dangling in the air. It just brought more attention to the fact that they were stubby and it would do his mistress good to remember how he was rather shy about his stubby little legs. "She is beautiful," Kurumi continued as she smiled at the phoenix and bowed her head a bit.
She noticed the phoenix take a glance down at Walnut. "Don't worry, Walnut knows better than to try and do anything to a creature like yourself," Kurumi said nodding towards the phoenix and then setting the cat down on the ground. He immediately sat on one of the chairs in the room and curled up into a ball. "See."
Kurumi took a step closer to the phoenix still with an awestruck expression on her face. "But, Professor, I thought that phoenixes has a XXXX rating by the Ministry because few wizards have ever succeeded in domesticating them. Does that mean that you were able to do so?!" Kurumi's head snapped around to look at Professor Bishop.
"Most people haven't," Renée said with a smile, as Kurumi stated that she'd never seen a phoenix up close before. It was true. She couldn't even really say everyone who knew her had seen one up close, as she was generally pretty careful who she exposed Anastasia to. It was hard to avoid here at Hogwarts though, as everyone who visited her office would be exposed to her phoenix unless she was out hunting. "I'd imagine she appreciates the compliment," she added, paying attention to the poor kitty as it looked rather uncomfortable. "I'm not so sure your cat appreciates the compliment, though."
She laughed as the cat then became the topic of conversation, if it could be said there was a conversation going on with Anastasia. She was fairly certain the phoenix understood everything, but responses weren't exactly given. And as Walnut went over and curled up on yet another of her chairs, the laughter continued a bit longer. "It seems Walnut has a connection to my furniture, it seems," she observed, before it seemed the kitty was being left behind again for the newness of the phoenix. She kept an eye on the Gryffindor as she stepped closer, not exactly because she was afraid Anastasia would do anything but more to check to see if the girl really was going to be careful. "They do, and that's very true. Phoenixes aren't quite as simple to domesticate as, say, owls are. or any other bird that is commonly made into pets. There has to be a level of respect, on both sides. The phoenix and the caretaker." She wouldn't exactly call herself an owner. She nodded as she was asked about the domesticating issue, however. She didn't go into the details, as she had with Jared though. She wasn't as sure how Kurumi would take knowing Anastasia had been abused before she'd come along.

Kurumi looked over her shoulder at Walnut, who was not half asleep and purring on the chair. "Perhaps it is because they are more comfortable than the chairs in the common room," Kurumi mused shaking her head at the feline. "Walnut seems to handle change and new things much better than I do." Kurumi didn't realize the weight of those words until they had escaped her lips. It wasn't so much that she was uncomfortable with change, it was more she was uncomfortable with the concept of being different. Of standing out in a crowd when everyone else seemed to blend in or fit into place. "He seems to be much more...comfortable..."
Kurumi then turned her gaze back to the phoenix and met the crimson bird's black eyes with her own violet ones. "I've read that they are extremely loyal, phoenixes," Kurumi said smiling at the bird and very much wishing to reach out and touch it, but feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure if Anastasia would like that. "Only choosing one, caretaker," Kurumi blushed. "In Japan, they are seen as a symbol of royalty. Associated with the imperial household, particularily the empress...so they can also mean the birth of a new leader," she turned and smiled at Professor Bishop. Perhaps this was the sort of sign she had been asking the tarot cards in class for? "Professor, can I ask you something? Have you ever felt...different? Like perhaps there was something...wrong with you?" She continued to look at the phoenix. She found herself a bit envious that they could be reborn; be given another chance at their lives.

Renée grinned a little as Kurumi made the observation about her cat being attracted to her furniture. "Well, I can't say I've ever had the privilege of knowing how comfortable or not the chairs in your common room are, so I'll have to take your word for it. And thank you for the compliment," she replied, glancing at Walnut again as she finished speaking, as if the compliment had come from him. "Sometimes animals have an easier time adapting. As long as they get fed, cared for, they're fine wherever they are. They don't have to deal with human problems very often, but sometimes they do react to them," she went on to observe. It seemed Kurumi was talking about something personal now, but she wasn't going to force her to say anything. It would be easier and less stressful on the girl if she was allowed to get to her point on her own terms.
"They are, historically," she agreed, as the topic went back to Anastasia and phoenixes in general. Anastasia herself seemed to have decided that now was the time to preen a little, which amused her. Vanity usually did, even when she experienced it herself. Her attention went back to the Gryffindor as the girl continued to speak, though. "Hmm," she said idly. That was an interesting piece of trivia, and she wondered if it was being addressed to herself. Born leaders and such, even though she'd never considered herself one, other than as a professor. She nodded as it seemed now was the time for the true reason for the visit, letting musing about if she'd been being complimented fade to the back of her mind. "Of course you can, and it depends on how you're defining different," she replied. "Different isn't always wrong. You should never feel like that." She certainly had felt different, given certain things. Both in the past and currently. She was settling in now though, officially, and she wanted to help Kurumi. The girl really seemed like something was bothering her.

Different isn't always wrong...
Her father had said similar words to her when she was younger - when the bullying had first started. That seemed like such a long time ago and one would think that she would have moved past all those dark times by now, but they hung over her like a black raincloud that simply refused to allow the sun to shine through.
Kurumi frowned for a moment as she tried to gather her thoughts. "The truth is that I have been an outcast all my life because I am...different," she said still keeping her eyes cast down on the ground. "In my hometown in Japan, if you are not full Japanese blood...you are an outcast...like me...I-I-I didn't have any friends growing up and I was always bullied. I..." she trailed off for a moment. "I'm afraid that the same thing is going to happen here...in the wizarding world..." She paused again to look at Professor Bishop.

As she saw Kurumi frown, Renée glanced at Anastasia for a moment. Either to calm herself and her thoughts or just to keep up the strength to avoid trying to figure out what exactly was going through the student's head was unclear, but whatever reasons, it worked. She still wanted to know, wanted the Gryffindor to feel more at ease with whatever had brought her to the office, but she wasn't going to pry. Something was obviously bothering the girl, and with a bit of amusement, she thought that the fact they'd started off under wrong assumptions had nothing to do with it.
That was verified when she heard Kurumi speak again, and she sent the girl a sympathetic and encouraging smile. "I understand," she replied. "I wish you wouldn't have had to see yourself as an outcast, but I can also truly say that I bet if you talked to anyone here, they'd say they felt different at one time or another. Even those who might bully others." Of course, her sense of difference had come from her ability, her interests, and not the least the fact that she was neither American nor English but something in between. Which seemed a little like what the Gryffindor had mentioned. Moving toward the chairs after a moment, she sent another smile as she regained Kurumi's gaze. "You have friends here, right? That automatically puts you at an advantage. And honestly, anyone who would try to bully you simply doesn't know what they're missing by not trying to get to know you."

As she waited for Treyen to decide where they would have their discussion, Renée noticed that he seemed distracted. Either by questioning why he'd come or by something else entirely, she wasn't going to ask. In any case, he'd lapsed into silence and she found herself wishing there was something that could interrupt. Other than Bowie, who had made another quiet little woofing noise as she'd continued holding the door open. The crup was being oddly good-mannered, and hadn't crept out very far.
And as she saw him notice the cruppy, a faint smile crept onto her face. It seemed her pets were working their magic, and the smile only grew as Treyen spoke again. "I wouldn't worry too much about getting in his way," she replied. No, Bowie was pretty much the type who could get by with whatever he was given, as long as some attention was part of that. Waiting a bit longer for a walk wouldn't cause too much trouble. "And okay," she added, taking a few steps backward and back into her office, the crup turning to trot back inside as well as he understood things were going to wait. "Why don't you come in then, and we can have a little talk?," she concluded, still holding the door open for him to enter. Something told her she had an inkling of why he wanted to avoid the grounds, but that would hopefully be confirmed whenever he established his reason for trekking up here.
And then he was admitted entrance.
He sighed before coming in, and then hoped that Bishop didn't hear that. His eyes widened at the sight. It was like Nolan was never here. Shocking. VERY shocking.
But he made his way to one of the chairs, rather slowly by the way, and then laid eyes on the crup. Smile. Whatever the reason, Bowie gave him the strength to say whatever it was he was going to say. He ventured a small smile at the woman. Man, if Ellie saw him right now she'll probably think he was a traitor.
Good news was...he remembered what he wanted to say. "I'm sure my visit may come as a surprise to you, Professor Bishop," he started to say, all confidence back in no time, "But I needed to apologize for my behavior when we first met," he said, with one firm nod. Though, in reality, she'd seen the woman before, he was sure of that, but couldn't remember where. "It wasn't fair," not to her, nor to Ellie, because he'd brought the Ravenclaw to the table, "And I hope you understand that I never intended to disrespect you or anything," it was, however, a totally different story with Saylen, "I'm not making any excuses here, but, yeah, I suppose you know Nolan was one of my favorite Professors and his leave wasn't...handled very well." No excuses. And pretty Healer Moretti took care of making sure he went back on the right path.
However unintentional that encounter may have been, he hated to see Ellie so hurt, maybe his own feelings about those Professors leaving Hogwarts were somewhat enhanced by what the redhead was feeling as well.
He was NOT saying that.
The boy couldn't help to eye the bookshelf, after all, he loved books. "Also for my discussion with Mr. Morgan in class, that was...out of line." Kind of, Jake annoyed him first.
yes the history stuff has somewhat been discussed. And yes, the phoenix is there.

Eyes on Bowie as the crup turned to trot back towards the desk area, Renée heard the sigh from behind her but chose to let Treyen have that little moment without question. Especially after she'd already gone through Ellie and her demands that everything inside the office be returned to the way they'd been when Professor Reynolds had been teaching. Nolan, she reminded herself, still finding the irony in the fact her predecessor was actually known by herself. And not just by way of keeping herself aware of things with Hogwarts. It always helped knowing what had happened before, who had taught, that sort of thing. Different teaching styles could be adapted or fought against, and she preferred doing neither. The fact she'd known their beloved professor was still rather ironic though.
Stopping as she arrived back at her desk, she turned back in time to see the Hufflepuff smile. At Bowie, but she knew her pets had their own ability to charm people. The crup for sure, as Anastasia tended to just send people into awe. It seemed Treyen hadn't noticed her yet, however, so that was neither here nor there, and Renée returned his smile as it was turned to herself. However tentatively it had been given, it was a start.
Then it seemed he'd gotten himself to speak, and she leaned against her desk silently, letting him get it all out before interrupting. It seemed the better decision, especially since things were so unsure. But as he continued, a faint note of surprise crossed her features at what he was saying. Perhaps this wouldn't be as difficult as she'd expected, although she had a feeling something had triggered his revelations. As he paused, she decided to speak. "Honestly, yes. I can't deny I was surprised by your visit. But since you did feel the need to come and explain a little, I forgive you. It wasn't fair, but unfortunately, sometimes things happen. People need to move on, and disappointment when they actually do can be hard," she replied. "Thank you for the apology, and know that I completely understand. I told Ellie much the same months ago when she felt the need to, well, explain." Or tell her in no uncertain terms that the Ravenclaw didn't want her here and would do anything to get her to leave. She didn't feel Treyen needed to know all that, if his friend hadn't told him already.
She smiled again as it seemed he'd zeroed in on her bookshelves, but nodded as he spoke again. "It was, but I assure you it was nothing new to me. We got through it fine, and I'm sure only some of it was because of the issues you had with myself," she responded, letting him continue to eye her books. "You're welcome to get a closer look. It's mostly divination books, but there's a few others as well." She was unable to not have her own work close by, out of habit. Not too many people made the connection, even now, but it was her little concession to vanity. Or, one of them.

He listened as she spoke, and for a moment there he had the feeling that he was talking to one of the wisest persons he'd known. Though, he already knew the wisest of them all was his grandfather, and quite possibly, Kingsley.
The boy nodded at the appropriate times to do so, and the rest he just remained listening. He started to feel even worse than when he was at the Corridor, because she was being so nice about all of it and they'd been so terrible to her. "I'm truly sorry," he said as he eyed his hands. Really, it was awful, very awful. Of course he was glad that she'd somehow accepted his apology, but he knew it had been wrong of him and an apology seemed like the smallest gesture to make it right. But at least it was something, right?
And then he'd remembered she'd mentioned Ellie. Well, that was a surprise, because Ellie never mentioned she'd come to apologize, all she'd mentioned was that she wasn't going to keep attending her lessons, which broke his heart very much. "I didn't know Ellie apologized." No, it wasn't a question, it was more...a general wondering. Honestly, how come Ellie came before him?! Or didn't even bother to tell him to come along? He felt rather stupid that it had taken him too long to come here, and now it was revealed to him that the pretty redhead had come first. Great. His eyes narrowed just a bit as he frowned.
"Thank you, Professor," for accepting the apology, but then...his discussion with Jake had something to do with her? "Oh, no," he hurried to say, "Not at all, you had nothing to do with that, it's just Jake--," er, he didn't follow that train of thought, the boy didn't feel like continuing to do so anyway, his eyes seemed to behave better than his words, and so they were staring at a couple books..."You are Renée Bishop, aren't you?" he asked, and...had she written some of them?
If so...that was brilliant!
Never mind the Phoenix standing close by, it wasn't nearly as amazing as those books.
lol Let's keep in mind she writes under a pen name, and has only published one book.

The expressions crossing Treyen's face as he stood there were fascinating to Renée. If only because she would have hardly expected him to stand there listening to what she had to say, given past experiences with others, but she also wondered if he really realized how much she could get from just watching him while she spoke. Not even doing anything else, just watching. It was fascinating, even as she felt bad as she sensed his guilt was getting stronger.
"I know," she replied simply, as he suddenly had looked down at his hands after echoing his apology. It seemed he wasn't aware of how much impact words could make. Actions were one thing, and there was that whole saying about actions speaking louder than words. But that was a cliché, and she truly believed words, when spoken with truth behind them, could be just as important. Of course, she hadn't entirely taken the whole animosity to heart, not entirely. Ellie still hurt her, knowing that the Ravenclaw was hurting and wasn't willing to even try to understand what was going on, but little things with the Hufflepuff had hinted to her that his resolve from ages ago had been wavering. This only cemented that idea.
And she had to struggle not to laugh as he brought up Ellie, wonderingly. The idea that he'd actually known what she'd been thinking about was amusing, but he was neither Jared nor Gevrik. So a true knowledge of what she was thinking couldn't happen. Even though the Charms professor could only guess, rather accurately, her emotions. She hadn't seen the security advisor in a long time, but she was positive he actually could get into her head. She'd kept her expression rather subdued, however, even though there was still a little smile. "I didn't say she apologized, exactly. we just came to an understanding, I guess you'd say," she said vaguely. A more accurate description would be détente, as there was still a battle going on there, but she still wasn't going to tell Treyen that. It wasn't her information to tell, but it seemed the Ravenclaw's visit had disturbed him somehow.
"You're welcome," she replied, before smiling again as he hurried to explain the incident with Jake better. "Jake is the type of person to get into debates with?," she added in amusement. She still thought at least a bit of what had been said during that had involved the animosity from her not being their former professor. He could believe otherwise, though, as he was young enough to be that innocent.
It seemed a certain book had gotten his attention though, and she in fact laughed lightly at the question, along with the way Anastasia was acting like it didn't bother her that she was being ignored. "I am," she verified. She had the birth certificate to prove that, but that didn't mean she had to always use her true name. Especially when one was the daughter of a publisher. "Why, did something you see make you question that?"

'I know'. Well, that only proved that she was one of the nicest persons in Hogwarts. Saylen would've probably said 'Go on' and made him talk much more than needed just to see if he made a mistake along the way. Because everyone knew Saylen was selectively-evil.
But the boy only nodded at Bishop and added a small smile to his expression.
Truthfully, he didn't expect her to say that about Ellie's visit, which is why his eyes widened at the very first sentence but managed to return to normal when she was done explaining. "I see, I thought...well, I thought differently." After all, she was the one who treated Renee worse than he did. Though, the Healer's presence may have got something to do with that.
Still, it had come to a surprise to him, especially to find out through Bishop and not through Ellie. His eyes sort of wandered to Bishop, knowing that it was quite probable that there had been much more to that visit than she was letting him know. Next time he sees Ellie he'll be asking her about it. Even if he was aware that any talk revolving Divination was probably not the best idea around the Ravenclaw girl.
'You're welcome'. GRIN.
And then he HAD to chuckle at her comment about Jake, "Yes, exactly, you could say that," and, in reality, he used to get into many 'debates' with the boy. Silly debates, but still debates.
As soon as she replied, his eyes started to wander around the books, but he failed to miss one that could've been written by her, if she'd written any, that is. "Oh, no, I was just wondering if any one of those have been, you know, written by you." And then he turned his head towards her, as if expecting her to confirm or deny that thought.

It seemed the thoughts going through Treyen's head would be fascinating, as Renée watched his reactions to her words, but she refrained from doing anything other than simple watching. Now wasn't the time or place to endanger the fragile cease-fire that seemed to have grown, and she had a feeling if he knew she knew what he was thinking, that could harm that. She'd been getting better at that anyhow, and his smile told her more than anything else could have. Namely, that he'd accepted her simple response, and took it how it was meant.
The topic of Ellie seemed to be a little different, however, and she paused as she saw his eyes widen. She didn't think she'd said anything wrong, and she knew she hadn't revealed anything that had happened with the Ravenclaw, but as he spoke, she nodded. "Understandably. I'd imagine you've seen more of her than I have, so reading into things makes sense. You understand that it's not my place to explain much more, though, right?," she replied gently. It was Ellie's place, if she wanted to air her grievances, even if they illogically concerned herself.
As he'd responded to her offered opinion about Jake, she quietly had moved away from her desk and gone over to appease Anastasia's sense of worth, and she turned back from stroking her feathers lightly once he'd spoken. "He has his reasons, I'd imagine," she said simply, before their discussion of her name and books had brought his gaze back to the shelves, and she smiled again at his question. Either he was a good actor, or he hadn't actually known anything before the topic had come up.
"Perhaps . . .," she said a bit vaguely. "I can tell you the extent to which I've gone into Divination is merely instruction and research, however." Let him interpret that how he might. Explaining it all would be too complicated, in her mind, and she wasn't used to actually having to say anything anyhow.

He'd been wrong. And Bishop was actually a very nice person. Apologies were all given and accepted, so, no need to go there.
Nods, nods, and he listened. Now he was the one nodding. He understood that, perfectly fine. It's not like he was asking for Bishop to tell him what went on during that visit, and he was more than glad that she didn't because it meant she could be trusted. Like all Divination Professors are. "Oh, no, yes, I understand. Perfectly." Yet she was slightly mistaken, and right at the same time. Treyen did see more of Ellie than she, but it wasn't as often as he wanted. Though, 'wanted' was an odd word in there. Because he wanted nothing, right?
"And it's not my business, it's between you and Ellie," but mostly Ellie's, he had a feeling that that's how it went. But he didn't want to know anymore, seriously, because if Ellie hadn't apologized then...yeah, he didn't want to know.
Yes, Phoenix, we see you. And, yes, Treyen has his reasons with Jake, but he didn't comment on her comment.
That smile didn't go unnoticed by the fourth year, that had to mean something, no? 'Perhaps'. Ooooooh, interesting. He...couldn't keep his eyes away from the books now, he was kind of hoping that the book she'd written, because yes that's what the smile and the 'Perhaps' had meant, sort of fell out of the shelves...magically.
But nothing happened.
Except...his eyes were back on Bishop. GRIN. Research? Oh, he loved doing research, and he almost said 'I love you, Bishop', but that would be...yeah, not good. First, Ellie will most likely kill him if she found out. Second, he loved the Healer already. Third, yeah, mostly Ellie.
"Research you say?" yes, that's what he got most interested in now, "I'm curious...," as always, but his eyes landed on Bowie, "...but...I...think maybe I could return some other time? Since, you know, Bowie wants to walk," he said, with a smile and nodded at the Crup.
And he won't mind, really, because he'd said what he needed to say already.

It seemed like a lot of nodding was going on, but Renée wasn't exactly thrown off by the concept. Nonverbal communication was generally just as easy to understand as the opposite, it just took a bit more work. More practice, but either way she knew the nodding going on right now wasn't avoidance, but rather acceptance. She gathered enough information over the term to know that Treyen wasn't ignorant, and she had a feeling they'd made more progress in just this meeting than had occurred in the entire time up until now. Just as she was fairly sure all the progress hadn't come about just by her own words.
Continuing to stroke Anastasia, she sent another smile over to him. "You're right," she said simply. She knew there was more going on there with the topic of Ellie, but now wasn't the time to pry. Or tease, or anything she would normally do. Both the topic of the little Ravenclaw redhead and the still tenuous understanding betwen herself and Treyen impeded that. She knew that if he wanted, he would ask the girl. She couldn't say he'd be happy with what he found out, but then the whole thing was just so complicated. Ellie couldn't get what she wanted, and Renée truly did feel bad about that. In the same respect, though, it wasn't going to keep her from trying to win people over. Not to mention teach them what she could.
She hadn't missed the fact Treyen had neglected to really comment on their little conversation about his housemate, either, but she decided his curiosity about the books had taken over. That was fine, but she wasn't about to make things easy and let it fall into his lap. Using another name had its reasons, and that extended to keeping her professor aspect separate from the other. She wasn't about to stop him from finding things out on his own, however.
Returning to her desk, she turned around to lean against it again as it seemed she'd hit on something with her comment about research, and she smiled again at how his eyes lit up. "More knowledge can be achieved through research than any other means. And research isn't always limited to books," she pointed out. Her travels had taught her much as well. "Curiosity should always be rewarded, but once again, you're right. Bowie does want his walk," she concluded with a little laugh, glancing over to see the cruppy standing near the door again. "You're always welcome to come back and visit. Explore the bookshelves . . ." Something told her that would be an enticing offer, but it seemed he'd made his peace with this visit.

And, yes, he was right, sort of.
It wasn't his business, and even if he was curious, Treyen had no longer the need to find out what had went on.
Or...yeah, no, no, he didn't.
This time, his eyes managed to follow Bishop to her desk as she walked to it, and looked back to the books once more. There had to be one written by her, he was more than certain of it. Knowledge. Research. Treyen smiled. Again. "I see. It makes sense." Though, many things he knew just by books, then again, the fact that Gilderoy hadn't done any of those things he wrote about made him believe how little he knew.
That's why he understood what Bishop was talking about.
Mmmhmm. Yes, Bowie wanted out, and in all fairness, Treyen was ready to leave too. "Oh, yes, Professor, absolutely." He'll take up on that offer, for sure. Just as he'll return to Hadley's office for those peppermints, or the Healer for chocolate.
"Thanks again, and...I'll see you around." One single nod, a smile, and then he exited the office, giving Bowie one final look.

C'mon! He was a wizard, was not he? He was. So, the parchment had to obey him! Behave yourself parchment! However no matter how much he had poked it with his wand, the words that needed to be destroyed still remained there. Even, for a moment, the boy thought, now, they were bigger than the other words on the paper. No way! Yet it was a relief for him to see after blinking a couple of times that they were the same as the other words. Great. Now his eyes had decided to play with him.
Anyway...
If the words were that stubborn and happy with the place they had on the parchment, why did not he just destroy the whole parchment? Well...this idea seemed a little bit mean to him but the words had left him no other way. If only he had another way.
Incendio would do that job efficiently, yep, it would. So, the lion boy was about to cast the 'fire' spell when he had heard footsteps approaching followed by...a question voiced by that certain she-snake.
A question that made him shiver inwardly. Quickly, looking up at the Slytherin girl, Josh managed to put an innocent smile on his face while tucking it back in his pocket.
''No, it's...it's my shopping list for the summer break!''
That was what had escaped his mouth. Shopping list? Seriously? As if he did shopping and cared about a list of it anyway.

Shopping list? For real? Seemed suspicious...
When did Josh like shopping?
"Long shopping list." she muttered, adjusting her bag on her shoulder before glancing behind once she heard footsteps. Aw good. They didn't have to wait very long for Professor Bishop to arrive.
With a short glance to the Gryffindor, the Slytherin girl made her way first into the office before standing off to the side, glancing around the room. This...was different- OMG! Was that a phoenix!?

Umm...
''Yeah, it's my favourite past time activity. Prodding on shopping lists with my wand. It takes away all the stress. You should try.''
He supposed this answer was satisfying enough for the professor's question. Or he just hoped it was since he did not want to be questioned further about poking a list with a wand. Sighing, the Gryffindor boy pretended that he had not realised the suspicious look on the she-snake's face. Yeah, right. Shopping list was not a good enough of a lie. He was not so good at lying department anyway. Was this a bad thing? Apparently it was, in some rare situations like this one.
Long shopping list? Eh. That was right. That list was a long one pretty unlike most ordinary shopping lists. Especially for a shopping list Josh could write down since he had very little money. ''Well...it's a long break so i am gonna need lots of stuff, am not i?'' After this sentence, first the boy glanced at the professor then he followed Evelyn as she walked in the office once they were allowed to do so.
This place was...different...and nice. Ooooooh a large red bird! ''Coolness!'' he exclaimed with a wide smirk approaching the phoenix and another little movement in the office caught his eyes.
''A dog!'' Were dogs allowed in Hogwarts? He did not know that! Changing his direction the Gryffindor walked to the dog to pet it. He liked dogs very much. ''I think that's a Jack, isn't it?'' a Jack Russell Terrier, that was.

Josh's quip answering her question only gained a raised eyebrow from Renée, and it seemed it hadn't convinced Evelyn very well either. "I think I'll stick with my current methods of stress release, Josh, if you don't mind," she replied as she followed the two inside her office and shut the door behind them. Just because Bowie hadn't tried to escape yet didn't mean he wouldn't try if she left the door open. It seemed both students' attentions had almost immediately gone to Anastasia, and she laughed as the phoenix started preening, almost, heading for her desk to place the box back down on its surface. The attention was most definitely welcome.
Next thing she knew, though, it seemed Josh's attention had switched to her other pet, and Renée's eyes went to the cruppy for a moment to make sure all was safe. Nothing noticeable, and the Gryffindor's response confirmed that idea. "A crup, actually. But good job knowing what they generally appear to look like," she responded with a grin, before glancing over to Evelyn off to the side. "Feel free to make yourself comfortable," she said to the Slytherin, before turning back to Josh. "You wanted me to look over your teacup?," she prodded. her pets liked the attention, but there was still actual business to attend to as well.

Resisting the urge to get a closer look at the phoenix, Evelyn turned her gaze to the crup, finding that THAT creature was enough of a distraction to move her attention away from the phoenix. She didn't like crups.
Taking a few steps further away from the crup, the Slytherin smiled slightly at the professor before taking a seat in one of the chairs. Hmm, comfy. She got to stay for Josh's teacup reading? Well, she supposed she could stay for that. Actually... "Oh, Professor Bishop? Before you begin, do you happen to have an extra list? From the lesson?"

A crup? Really? Yet it completely looked like a...dog. So perhaps a crup was a dog. Or whatever. Apparently it would have been a little bit of use for him if he had read at least the index of the Care of Magical Creatures textbook. So he'd have known there was such a thing like a crup at the 'C' part of the index. ''Hmm...yeah. Of course. A crup.'' he said with a half fake and exeggerated smile trying to hide that general lack of information about the wizarding world he had, though it was his fifth year in it.
When he was done petting the Jack Russell Terrier crup, he turned his back to glance at Evelyn who was seeminly interested in the phoenix. Well...Josh also liked those big, red birds and it was not only because of the colour of its feathers. It also looked so noble and was one of the creatures related to fire. So, next he approached the bird yet stopped when Professor Bishop reminded him why he was there.
''Right...'' the Gryffindor said still eyeing the pretty redness of the phoenix for a moment or so before turning to face the woman ''I'd be very happy, if you did, professor.'' then walking forward he carefully placed the cup on her desk ''Just a few...things would be enough for me.'' Especially something about a quest. Hehe.
However, when the Slytherin girl's voice rose in the room right after his, the boy's little excited and happy smile vanished. List? Again? She was asking for a list. Eeeeh! Now he still had the excitement but this one was very stressing unlike the happy and curious one he had a moment ago. He was even more stressed about the fact that he was not going to be able to do anything if the professor would hand Evelyn a copy of that list. He couldn't just snatch all of the copies out her hand and destroy them all, could he? No way. She was a professor.
Trying not to look to worried and stressed which he was not sure if he succeeded, Josh quickly looked from Professor Bishop to Evelyn and vice versa repeatedly.
Say no! Say no! Say NO!

Josh's response at the correction regarding Bowie amused Renée, as it seemed he'd more accurately had a lucky guess. Or something. His cover hadn't really fooled her, but she wasn't about to say anything. It wasn't her business to question if he hadn't paid attention to Care of Magical Creatures, as she knew Maya had taught a lesson on crups. Part of why she was so protective of her own, in a way. Not entirely, as she'd always been protective of Bowie. It seemed there was more reason to be such, though. She nodded as he brought her his teacup, however, moving around her desk to sit behind it. She might as well get comfortable before she settled in to check his cup out.
She glanced up again as she heard Evelyn speak up, and couldn't help but let a tiny grin creep onto her face. Which she quickly hid before she replied to the Slytherin. "Of course I have more," she said, smile changed to her normal friendly one. "Unfortunately, they're locked in my box, so you might have to wait a bit longer." She wasn't about to completely let Josh get away with whatever it was he was trying to hide, but she could stall. Maybe if she found anything in his cup, he'd be distracted long enough that Evelyn could get her list. That is, if there was in fact anything in there that he could think was a quest of any kind. She still couldn't guarantee that.
Sliding the teacup over to herself, she glanced inside. "Hmmm." There was the little flame he'd been going on about, but she stayed quiet. That could get sticky in present company, if the stories were true. That little clump over there could work, though. "I see a drum, a litle ways down. That means change or a call to action," she spoke. Definitely, interpreted by someone with an active imagination, could mean a quest. Of course, combined with the fire symbol . . . could go a different way. But she wasn't mentioning that symbol. "And a cross. Warning. But there's a complete circle close by, so success." There was also an exclamation point, right up near the rim, but that meaning seemed, well, like something the Gryffindor had problems with, so she let him find that on his own. "There were a couple more symbols that I noticed, but I imagine you could decipher those on your own. If you had the list I'd handed out," she concluded, sliding the cup back towards him before taking a key out and unlocking her box. Keeping it close to herself, even though her extra lists weren't actually inside. They were in a cubyhole just behind her desk. Even so, there were too many important items inside to let him get too close. Impulsiveness was dangerous.

Oh, awesome.
Smiling, she leaned forward to perhaps take the parchment that obviously the professor was going to give her, yet she paused half reach…smile fading into a frown. What? She had to wait? Why couldn't she just unlock it noooow!?
Just about to speak up about this, the Slytherin girl silently scoffed before leaning back in her seat, slumped slightly and glancing in the opposite direction of where the other two were standing as the professor started the reading for Josh. Fine. She'll just have to wait then. Even if she was looking the other way, she still kept an ear open for what the professor was saying. How in the world could she see those shapes in such a small cup? All her own were just squiggly lines in her opinion.
Wait…WAIT! Mwah! She was opening the box. Yush! Give us…the liiiiist.

Gah!
Did she just say...?
O_O!
She had more of that list!!! More! This sounded not even like one more but more than one. What was he going to do now? If she said she had more there was no doubt that Evelyn was going to have it in her hands any moment. So, his end was approaching fast and he could not think of even a single way out except hoping that she had forgotten about the fire in the cup. Yes, yes! Maybe she had long forgotten about it. She had not mentioned it or asked about it the since the last time in classroom after all.
However this little gleam of hope was not enough to ease the huge stress and pressure on him so thinking his look might give it out, Josh moved his gaze on the Jack Russell Terrier crup instead. 'Goodbye cute puppy! It was nice to know you!'
Then...then something miraculous had happened and the professor said Evelyn needed to wait for the list. Heheheheheheeeeee! See Evelyn! You need to wait more and more and more and more than that so Josh would have enough time to say goodbye to everything he valued in this living world. Glancing at the frowning she-snake some, the Gryffindor boy smirked and fixed his full attention at Bishop when she started to read his cup.
Hmmm? What did she mean hmm? Well...he had better shut this internal questions and listen to the divination woman. So watching and listening to the professor very carefully, Josh evaluated each information he gathered with her help. A drum; change or action. That was good. He liked that part. And he alittle bit frowned at the warning part but there was always something negative in everything, was not there? There was no such thing as perfection.
And when the reading was kinda over the lion boy gave Professor Bishop a friendly smile and more extra smile for she had not mentioned the fire-flame whatever it was. Possibly it was among those symbols that she wanted him to decipher himself. Well...gladly. ''Thank you, Professor Bishop'' he said kindly taking the cup back. This was a nice one. Change and action were always welcomed in his life. Buuuuut did she have to mention that list again?!
He had just started enjoying a moment without the stress of the list but nooo. Just no. It just had to come back and ruin it for him again. And worst of all, she was opening the box! Opening that box which INCLUDED the lists! He needed to act NOW! Act now!
So quickly turning his back he walked to Evelyn and grabbed her wrist. ''Thank you very much for everything professor!'' and walking forward the lion boy attempted to tug her with him. ''Let's go now, Rose. We shouldn't keep Professor Bishop so busy. She probably has papers to grade and...we have...stuff to do.''
Yeah, he could just make up something they needed to do now if necessary.
