The redhead suddenly felt highly uncomfortable as the Hufflepuff kid finished his speech. Sure, he apologised, good for him, ten points yada yada yada but his hand... Chyler eyed it for a second before gripping both of her small hands behind her back and nodding to the kid, hoping he didn't take offense and jump on her or something. Ugh, contact. When one of her family members had been ill or gotten injured, she'd jumped into action without so much as a blink but when people were healthy she'd rather swallow her own hand than shake theirs. Or touch them anywhere, for that matter.

"It's fine," she said simply and moved away from the door so that he'd have a clear path out should he want to leave. And the sixteen year old really really wanted him too. This has been way too much drama for her, and the redhead felt decidedly out of place.

"Thank you, that will be all." Lily gestured to the boy that it was time for him to take his leave from her office, and then she turned all of her attention on to the girl, "Please have a seat dear, I apologize for the interruptions."

Nodding to the healer, Chyler retook the seat she had been in a few minutes before, eying the kid as he walked out of the room. Right - whatever is name is, she was no fond of him. At all. The redhead shrugged a little and turned back to Healer Moretti, putting little Hufflepuff seven year olds out of her mind for now. If they were ill, she readmit them but for now they stay out.

"Miss, I came in here to talk to you about persuing a career in Healing," Chyler began by getting right to the point, waving off the apology for the interruptions. It couldn't be helped and the sixteen year old wasn't going to hold it against the one woman who was actually useful here. The other professors were too, but Healer Moretti was a direct line into the world she wanted to break into - perhaps she could even intern or help out here sometimes, who knows. In any case, Chyler was prepared to be extra nice to Healer Moretti.

Lily nodded to the boy as he walked out, and when he was gone, she closed the door again.

Privacy and all.

"Of course." The blonde woman sat back into her seat and nodded, "Well, you're going to need to devote special time and effort into Charms and Potions class. Eventually, when you carry on to University, you will learn the more direct Healing spells, but you need a good base. You'll need to score high enough on your OWLS and NEWTS, obviously."

Lily paused, tilting her head at the girl, "What year are you in, dear?" Hopefully she wasn't coming to her too late here, there would be a lot of catching up to do.

In an instant, Chyler's mood went from one of slight annoyance to rapt attentiveness. For a second she contemplated taking out writing utensils, but instead chose to submit this all to memory. "Charms and Potions, ok," the redhead nodded, liking that fact. Charms was, well, easy and she could deal with Potions.

"I'm a fifth year although this is my first year in school - I was taught by my father but I'm rather advanced," she said, sticking to the truth. Chyler was never really one to boast, she just told the truth as she saw it. And the matter of the fact was - she was just advanced. No way around it. The sixteen year old kept silent about the helping out idea - if and when the time was right, then she'd mention it. She didn't want to seem desperate after all; very very bad quality to have.

Lily smiled, "That's good then, it looks like you've got a good start on your base already. Though, I must tell you, though, Healing school is no picnic. You play with life and death in some cases, and one mistake could be fatal. It is important to study well."

The woman shrugged, "You will obviously not need to stress yourself now, but I want you to be aware."

Chyler felt a sigh of relief escape her and for a second wondered where it came from. She hadn't actively been worrying about being prepared for Healing school and getting the right grades and putting enough effort into lessons and things... until now. Well, until a minute ago until Healer Moretti informed her that she was on the right path.

The Healer's next words brought a rare smile to Chyler's face. "I know, miss," the redhead replied with a nod, remembering the nights she'd spent reading up on the different schools and programs over a year ago. They'd been living in India at the time and she'd been fascinated with all things Healing and had insisted to start her university research. After the initial shock of how intensive it all was, she'd been aching to go there. Of course, the ache died a few days later when her dad had taught her a particularly complicated spell, but the need to go was still there.

... But none of that had any sort of relevance now. "Right. If I may, are there any subjects that I might want to drop? Just in case the OWLs come and I see that I can't handle the pressure - are there any subjects that are not directly necessary to healing? Or should I just take them all?" she asked, remembering a thought she had had before. Merlin forbid she'd cave under the pressure of this school, but just in case. . . She shuddered slightly. Bad bad thoughts.

Subjects to drop?

Lily took a moment to pause and reflect that question. "Subjects such as Astronomy and Arithmancy and Runes aren't exactly something that will tie into your every day working as a Healer. You may choose to pay attention to Herbology as well."

Hmm. "If the courses become too much for you, we can always rediscover your options at a later date."

As Moretti waved him in, Jake nodded and stood up, wiping his face with his balled up robes again. Once he was in, the young man looked around. It looked comfortable, but right now he was just not ready to calm down. His chest leaping with every upset breath, Jake tried to make sense of what he'd be asking.

"Hi," he said in a small voice, cursing the way it gave away how upset he'd been.

Lily waved him towards one of the seats opposite of her desk, and then returned to her seat, shuffling a few bits of parchment out of the way and folding her hands on the desk, "What's wrong? How can I help?"

SO MUCH!

Jake took a seat and didn't say anything for a moment, trying to breathe and calm. When he was more or less halfway there, he spoke. "I have just been punched in the face by Josh Carter. He tried to freaking strangle me. Of course it was Lafay who turns up, so he's going to get away with it. He should have been sent straight to Tate and expelled, but no. Because Lafay has an issue with me, someone tries to kill me and I get told to stop whining."

Jake shook his head and buried his face in his hands before he started full on crying. "I can't stay here anymore if it's like this. Especially with her treating me like something unpleasant on the bottom of her shoe. I can't deal with it. I can't be here."

He sniffed and shook his head. "I don't know what to do."

Woah woah woah.

What?

"Forgive me dear." Lily started, extending a tissue across her desk, "But this is very much new to me." She'd no idea that there was a personal vendetta between LaFay and a student.

She just assumed that the students didn't like her because she was strict, and being in the hospital all the time didn't help things at all.

"Have you spoken to Headmaster Tate about this?" Honestly, if this child did do what Jake said, then he should have been taken to the Headmaster anyway, right? Of course she had no idea what LaFay had decided for the other boy.

Jake felt like an idiot when he accepted the tissue, and he just shrugged at the fact that Moretti hadn't known. "I haven't seen him yet, no. To be honest, I can only expect it to be shrugged off."

That, and he had the feeling Tate didn't like him. But that was just a general paranoid idea and he knew that. With Lafay, Jake was CERTAIN he was on her hate list.

The young man shook his head. "He's always got away with stuff like this. I bet if I tried to do what he just did, I'd be dragged to see Tate. It's because it's me Professor. She kicked me out of her class for asking a simple question, seriously." Why even exaggerate the truth about something like that? GAH!

Jake didn't say it out loud, but he suspected that Lafay only intervened in the Entrance Hall because she HAD to and other students were nearby. AND Jake had proof 'cause... "Look..." the young man raised his chin up and tugged the neck of his shirt down a little, showing Moretti the red hand mark on his neck which had had nowhere near enough time to become bruising.

"I very much doubt that Professor LaFay would simply let Josh off the hook for something like this, and I also do not believe that Headmaster Tate would shrug it off, Jake." She paused for a moment to let him think about that.

Not everyone was out to get him.

"Do you know what Professor LaFay decided for Josh? Did she take points, did she put him in detention?" It wasn't fair to assume that she didn't do anything about it.

Jake shook his head; he completely disagreed with everything being said. Lafay had proved just how much she hated Jake, so why would he now believe she was suddenly better.

"She took points from him. Told him to go to her office," Jake said, breathing harshly through his teeth. "Quite frankly, the kid is insane. He tried to strangle me... and he SAID he couldn't remember doing it but surely that's even worse. Th-that... psycho child needs to be sssent to St. Mungo's either way. He could k-kill someone and I'd still be considering my own leaving the school just to get away fffff... fff... from him."

Jake breathed heavily, like a wounded dragon. He was so mad... but so upset... so confused. Problem was, he was ready for someone to tell him to go ahead and leave.

Darn stutter reared its ugly head too as well, as it liked to do when Jake was emotional.

Where was Neptune? He needed a Neptune.

With a silent flick of her wand, the woman sent out into the hall a silvery wisp, before she set her attention back to the boy.

"Well, if he was called into her office, then we can not very well assume that he got away with it, can we?" Lily wasn't condescending, she actually was just as lost as he was when it came to what had happened to the boy after he walked into LaFay's office? "I understand that you're angry, Jake, but let's see if we can make some sense of this situation, hmm?"

After a few minutes Hecate made it up to the Healer's Office. She knocked but didn't wait to be invited in. She opened the door and said "You needed me Lillia- Oh." She said seeing the pest known as Jacob Morgan... "I'm sorry for bursting in here Healer Moretti, I didn't realize you were busy."

Lilyan smiled at the woman as she walked in, "Not at all, please have a seat." She brought up another seat by her desk, one of the plush ones from the corner, but kept it more towards her than Jake, "I was hoping that you could shed some light on the instance that just recently occurred, with Jake and Josh? Obviously I myself was not there, and we seem to be missing a few details."

Lily knew that this was NOT Hecate's first time dealing with Jake, and she was interested to see how two stories would fit, or vary. After all, she was expecting that a fellow staff member would not stretch the truth, whereas a student would.

Not saying that Jake was, but still, they did seem to be missing LaFay's side in all of this.

"Certainly." She said with a serious tone. She sat down and looked over to Jake and then to Moretti. "I believe Master Carter to be under the effects of a love potion... though I cannot be sure until I speak to the girl I believe may have given it to him. I also believe Morgan here was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I came into the incident after the fact so I really didn't see it. When I asked two by standers for the details, Carter admitted to have punched Morgan... but didn't think he strangled him, though he couldn't remember. As you know, this may be the potions effects. I withdrew 20 points from Gryffindor and spoke to him privately. As I couldn't be sure, I didn't give him an antidote. He has since thrown a cauldron in my class and is serving a quite... disgusting detention." She said and then looked back to Jake. "Oh... and I also healed Morgan's nose, suggesting he follow up with you, as I didn't want to step on the healer's toes."

That was-

Wait... WAIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

Jake's mouth went dry as he saw the silvery thing... he KNEW what that was and the young man was instantly FURIOUS with what was now going to happen. He was still CRYING for the love of Merlin.

And then she was there... and talking. Jake sniffed slightly but managed, more or less, to pass it off as a scoff at what was BEING said. "So he got points taken and a talking to," he recounted quickly. "And I believe what you said, far from telling me to see Healer Moretti, was more along the lines of 'stop being a baby' and 'whining isn't going to help'."

Jake shook his head and looked away from both women, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth, actually stopping the anger.

Once again, Jake tugged at his shirt collar to show the redness on his neck. "He did try to strangle me. And even if he was under the effects of a potion, which I doubt, you only gave him a detention when he threw a cauldron. In a class. Where you were supervising and keeping an eye out, keeping people safe. But when it's just me being throttled and not wanting to retaliate because I thought he'd actually gone insane... points would suffice."

Jake breathed deeply and looked over at the window shaking his head. "I can't deal with this place. Every year. Every year..."

Every year Joshua Carter went for him and nothing was done.

Jake didn't think he could stay. He needed to talk to Neptune when he was done here.

Ah. Lily nodded, noting that in fact this had not been glossed over and the young boy had received, and was apparently serving his punishment.

"Thank you for clearing that up." She nodded politely to the woman, and then turned her eyes to the boy again. "Jake seems to be under the impression that you do not like him." She paused, turning her head to fully glance at the woman, "Please forgive me, while I am not in the habit of stirring up trouble, I do believe this needs to be aired out a bit." After all, it was the main source of his complaints, and by glossing over it, there would be no results.

"Is there something you wish to say to Professor LaFay, Jake? While we are all here to listen?"

The woman gave a little mournful sigh, and sat back into her seat.

"No one wants you to leave, Jake. You're in your seventh year, very close to graduation, if you left.. where would you go? What would you do to finish your schooling?" Really? She wanted to know. How much had he thought about this? That would surely tell how unhappy he truly was. She didn't want for him to be unhappy, not in the slightest. No child should EVER be unhappy as far as she was concerned, but still, maybe this was one of those things in life that he would just need to stick out.

"And it didn't help. Did it?" She said to him. "Nor is it helping you now. You are of age, are you not? I suggest you start acting like it. This is your last year here, and the real world is much more cruel."

"Healer Moretti, Morgan is right. I do dislike him." There were very, very few students she liked. "He is rude in my presence and has absolutely no regard for my authority. He intends to disrespect me any way he can." she turned at looked at Jake then back to the healer, "This doesn't mean I want him to leave or lose the opportunity to gain an education. In fact I continued to allow him to remain in my class until he tried to disrupt it. Then I kicked him out."

She turned her whole chair towards the boy. "Yes... what would you like to say to me." She said genuinely interested.

"I'd go home," Jake said with true determination. "And I'd stay there. I don't need to finish my schooling when the wizarding world has given me nothing but grief over the past seven years. I cannot be here if it's going to get worse. I'd leave and just go on tour with my dad and the band he manages."

They didn't need anyone else.

"I'd need to talk with someone first."

Neptune, of course.

"I wasn't whining. I had been hit. in. the. face," Jake said quite simply. He was working hard now to keep his temper in check. But... Lafay was just so... rage-inducing.

"You had no problem with me before," Jake went on quietly, not looking at either woman, shaking his head in absolute disbelief. "Then the feast happened and you wouldn't let it go, so why would I? Why would I... rrrespect someone who sssuddenly hated m-me for the ssstupidest of reasons?"

GAH!

Wait, WHAT. "I asked you a ssssimple question. Huh-how exactly was that duh-duh-disrupting a lesson that hadn't ssstarted?!" Jake blurted out, looking beyond despair for a moment, confused with whatever was happening. He put his hands up to his hair and gripped tightly, leaning forwards and putting his elbows on his knees. He couldn't take this... he was so confused and about to flip out purely from overload.

Finally, he realised he really couldn't take it, so the boy almost exploded up from his seat, the thing scraping backwards on the floor from the sudden movement. He used his bloodied sleeve in a useless attempt to wipe his tears from his face which were now flowing freely. "I don't hhhave anything to s-say, other than I've had enn...enough. This isn't acc-...accom... this isn't going anywhere. Ssstaff stick up for each other. N-no matter what I sssay, I'm wrong. I nnneed to go now."

He had to go. Leave the office, go and calm DOWN, find Neptune and see what she thought.

Plus, he had NO idea what they thought he'd want to say. Something told him it might be an apology, but he THOUGHT he'd already gone and said that. So he wouldn't say it again. He wouldn't say, "Sssorry for the f-feast."

... aaaand he'd said that out loud.

Drat.

Still, he was still uber upset and now furious with himself for saying it and meaning it because he was positive he'd already done so. The young man dragged his clean sleeve across his eyes and shook his head, waiting for Moretti to say it was okay to leave. He wouldn't put it past anyone to chuck him in detention purely for leaving.

Had he left, you bet she would have chucked him in detention...

"A Slytherin first year, and I won't mention names, was getting visibly upset after you made the snide comment, and there were other first years that seemed uncomfortable." Hecate said coldly. "You are a seventh year. The first years depend on you to show them not to be scared here. They look up to you. Potions is a scary class..." Things exploded all the time...

"I had no problem with you, because you still showed me the respect I deserve as your professor. At the feast you would not listen to me, challenging my authority in front of, not only first years, but the whole school. You came to my dungeon office wearing sunglasses and with an attitude of complete disrespect. When I explained to you how I felt about them, you told me you didn't expect me to understand, and didn't bother explaining. Then you tried to challenge me to potion making, which is not only foolish, but insulting! And in the same breath told me that this way you could get your answers and not waste my precious time..."

She looked at Moretti. "I was going to assume he wasn't this rude with you. But by him mentioning staff sticking up for each other, I see he does not give you the respect you deserve either. And he has yet to hear what you had to say."

She turned back to the boy, "It's nice to finally hear the apology I was due since the opening feast." Not only her, but Lilyan and the rest of the staff.

She leaned on her knees with her elbows, placing her hands in a praying position and resting her chin on the tips of the fingers. "and healer Moretti is right. No one wants you to leave the school."

She then stood and turned to the Healer.

"I assume you are finished with me, Healer Moretti... I apologize for running off, but I left a poison on a burner, and I need to go add a final ingredient before it cooks off... you know how it goes. If you still need me, send me another patronus, and I'll be back, but I think you have what you need. Good Day." She said and didn't say anything to Jake.

And with that, she left.
