The Broomshed is a place where the Hogwarts school brooms are stored when not being used by students participating in Flying Class or Quidditch. The shed is located one hundred yards from the Quidditch Pitch and appears to be on the verge of collapse to the untrained eye. Carefully open the door that miraculously hangs on rusted hinges and inside you'll find the broomsticks hanging from the ceiling, glass cauldrons and leaning up against the walls. Select your broomstick with care before heading out to class and return it to it's resting place when class is over. At the center of the room is a large wooden table surrounded by benches - take care not to get any splinters if you decide to take a seat while tuning up your broom!
Basic Broomshed Rules: 1. RP your character getting a broom for class/returning a broom/caring for a broom, etc. Please be aware that there are no Firebolts in the shed nor can you find the 'old' Quidditch Equipment Trunk in this shed. 2. Broomsticks in here are for flying practice, Flying Class, and Quidditch uses only. If your character sneaks in to take a broom for a flight by the lake or on other areas of school grounds, expect a loss of House Points and/or Detention. This rule also applies to playing with Quidditch equipment on school grounds or in the Castle itself. Remember - Quidditch and Flying only happens in the Practice Pitch thread and/or Flying Lesson threads. 3. The Broomshed is not a place for public displays of affection (PDA) - violators will lose House Points and gain a date in the Dungeons (aka, Detention). 4. Observe SS Board Rules at all times. 5. Have fun!
Taking the the scouring cloth he runs it the length of the broom untill all the old oil,wax and ramdom insect parts were cleared from the shaft he start to apply a good coat of oil and then wax ,replacing the cloths he starts to pull out the tweezers, and the small prunning clippers for the tail twigs
Well, Kurumi seemed to be getting enough girl from that other girl...but...she was kind of making this broom care stuff seem so complicated! Not the other girl, but Kurumi was.
She'd said she didn't need help, so, he wasn't about to offer his. She could ask, whenever she wanted.
The boy was still keeping an eye on her. Kurumi. And that redhead from Ravenclaw too. But it was only natural to be eying Ellie from time to time, no?
Anywaaay.
Back to the broom.
Yes. The handle time. Treyen tried to focus again (and succeeded--those are good news for Captain Melanie) and he took out the tin of polish and those pieces of fabric that the polish is supposed to be applied with...AND now, started to work on the handle.
Oh-so-very-slowly he was getting the handle to shine. SHINE VINDICTUS!
Watching Sierria do the twigs ,he takes the tweezers and removes the bits and pices that have become lodged inbetween the twigs the taking the clippers he trims the splinttering ends of each twig " Sir do the twigs need to be replaced from time to time like muggle Tires on a car "
Caroline took two cloth one dry clean cloth and one wet cloth. She started to wipe the metal parts. The footstands were terrible caked on mud. She used the wet cloth to remove the caked on mud. That was the hardest part of the whole final step. She scrubbed off the mud. She continuned to scrub the metal ring that held the twigs together. Finally this broom looked like a proper riding broom. She glanced around and saw the other nice new looking brooms. She wondered if this lesson was just to get these teribble brooms a good servicing. She shook off the thought. "I'm done, Professor!" She piped up happlily.

Mind you, the handle looked as shiny as a new broom. And he was starting to wonder if maybe Vindictus taught this lesson as a way to clean up the school brooms...after all, why would a Professional Athlete be cleaning a bunch of brooms that didn't belong to him in the first place?
Yes, exactly.
But after adding some finishing touches to the handle, and placing the pieces of fabric away, the boy stared a bit at the broom and was surprised to see just how incredibly awful the metal looked against the pretty twigs, and the shiny handle.
So, foot stands, be prepared.
Go on servicing kit, gimme something to clean the metal stuff. And, eh, yeah, he was already holding that particular cloth. His bad. It was hard to focus when Kurumi was unintentionally trying to hit him with her broom.
So...it was time to make the metal things brighten the look of the broom a whole lot more. Treyen made the same circular motion over and over again until he was getting some shine from the metal. He wasn't going to rest until he'd done so.
Or...yeah, maybe he will. Because now his broom was perfectly trimmed, and perfectly shiny, and perfectly, eh, taken care of, and Vindictus had less work on his hands. Awesome!

Nika took a deep breath. This was kind of boring for her. She couldn't wait to get on the broom again! Although the last time things didn't go too well for her she really wanted to learn. Time to clean, woop dee doo. She took the supplies out of the kit and started to rub. Only. a. Little. More. She tried to make it as shiny and polished looking as possible. "Ehh I think this is good enough" she stepped back to take a look at it. She didn't do that great. She looked over at some other brooms and saw that Kurumi's was so sparkly that it could blind her. Nika was disappointed with her work, but she didn't let it bother her. It's not like we were having a competition to see whose broom looks the best or anything right?

Reason: adding post number ^.^
Kurumi probably even had goops of polish falling off her face at this point. Why was she freaking out so much this term about Flying? It wasn't like any of the classes had sent her to the hospital wing before...the previous one had just made her smell like vanilla frosting for several weeks.
"I-I think I can handle it," she nodded unconvincely at the red head. "Just a little more rubbing and I think I've got it..." and her broom handle will be so shinny that she would slide right off it.
Selina knew that she shouldn't intervine. She was not the teacher, bit for Merlin's sake Kurumi was going to be a fully greased girl by the end of class at this rate. But still Kurumi said she was fine so Selina had to respect that... She would stay out of it.
"OH FOR MERLIN'S SAKE KURUMI! Your going to swallow some of that and poison yourself. I know you can handle this, but please let me help you before you slip and break something.". Selina laughed. She has finally broken he seal of giggles. Kurumi looked so curious with her hair every which way and polish everywhere. Selina wanted to take a picture but it was not the right moment.

Snip snip, snip away.....
Is this enough? Meh, its enough.
Salander dropped the clippers and reached out for the wood polish. He took out a hefty gunk and splattered it across the wooden handle. Now if they could just use something to buff these thing other than elbow grease.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes

Where was I? Oh, yes . . . parts of a broomstick!
"OKAAAAAAYYYY, class!" Vindictus exclaimed and clapped his hands as he turned around moments after Tate left the shed. "Good job in identifying the different parts of a broomstick. Those of you who answered will be receiving points for each part you correctly identified."
He pulled out his wand and the hovering brooms zoomed back to their storage place against the wall.
"It is important that you care for these different parts of a broom or else they can become weak and eventually break . . . which would be dangerous if your broom broke apart while flying. Grab a broomstick servicing kit," he said and with his wand, pointed to the boxes that suddenly appeared on the table.
"I want you to trim the tail twigs, polish the broom handle, and clean the metal foot stand and the metal band that holds the tail twigs in place. Get started!"
OOC: This task should be at least 3 separate posts of you cleaning your broomstick. Points will be rewarded (maximum of 5 points will be rewarded for this task). I'll resume with the next set of instructions tomorrow when I get home from work (around 9pm EST).
Wait.
...what?!
The professor wanted them to trim, polish, and clean the school's broomstick collection?! Inwardly, Sierra glared at him. She knew what this was all about! The professor must be getting behind in his work--he was meant to be the one cleaning all these brooms--and now he was making them do it as part of a lesson in disguise!
Ravenclaws could be so lazy sometimes...
Nevertheless, house points were at stake here, and so Sierra headed off to retrieve a servicing kit. With the kit in hand, she took a good, long look at her broom. Of course she'd managed to accidentally select a rather poorly looking one. With a soft sigh, she pulled the Tail-Twig Clippers out the kit and set to work trimming them.
*trim trim trim trim trim*
Sierra put all her focus into this task. It was the only way she could keep from getting overly-annoyed at the fact she was doing maintenance work for someone else.
*trim trim trim trim trim*
She paused to study the tail twigs. They were nearly in order, but she still needed to do a little more trimming.
*trim trim trim*
Well, that should do it. It looked good to her, at least. So what was next? Hmm, polishing the broom handle...
FINALLY having finished buffing out the handle of the broom she tossed the dirty rag on the bench with a little huff. Sheesh. She loathed doing this to brooms that weren't her own. She treated her OWN brooms like babies. Caring for them just sooooo. Mhm.
Taking another two rags she blew her hair from her face once more and grabbed the polish for the foot stands and metal band. Sighs. Throwing a dollop on the rag she began to shiiiiiiiine up the metal pieces vigorously. Yeah. Scrub, scrub, srub. Sheesh.
Pausing to take a break while she waited for the polish to sit the two minutes she began to look around at the others. Doop dooop doooooo. Two minutes are up. Taking the clean rag she began to buff off the polish on every teeny tiny surface of the metal until it gleamed like the sun.
Smiling brightly she finally tossed the last rag back in the servicing kit and beamed down at the broom. Perfect.

Once he was done polishing the handle, he shifted working on the metal bristle bindings and stirrups, applying more polish and even more elbow grease on the work.
Sheesh if this is what it took to maintain brooms, he may have to rethink collecting these hotrods.
Then again there's always magic. And Elves.
Its great being a wizard iinit?
When he's had enough done, he set the broom aside and put the broom servicing kit away. He glanced at Lexi's broom-- which glinted like brand new-- and his own, which didnt shine much. "Guess you could tell which one was serviced by a professional." he joked.

Pffft. Professional? REally? Glancing at his broom and then back to hers she smiled at him. "Had a bit more practice at it, is all. Vindictus would have slaughtered us for coming on his pitch with unkepmt brooms," she whispered and gave him a little wink. Shoot... Vindi stopped her on the practice pitch to ask if her broom was in working order last he saw her because she landed wonky. I mean... really.
After her breather Chloe grabbed a clean rag and dipped it in the polish. She moved it to the handle and gave it a good shining. Scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub.
Before long the metal foot stool and band gleamed. It was tough cause of all the mud but she put all the elbow grease she had. Now she was done. She smiled at her work and then waited for the lesson to continue.
Jaina was now curious about the whole interaction between the flying instructor and the headmaster. She got her broomstick servicing kit and sat back down next to Belle. She watched Belle to see what had to be done. She pulled out the clippers and proceeded to mimick Belle. "Is this right?" she asked. She was trimming the very ends of the broom, not really making any improvements in her mind. "Also, does the headmaster coming mean something bad? I haven't seen him in any of the other classes."
Belle heard Jania's question and she whispered it to her, "Hmm i don't know Jania, i heard that he wanted to give the professor another job but that is all i heard." she told her. She got out the broom polisher and started polishing the handle spotless, she tried to get the fingerprints off the handle. She was really scrubbing hard. "I have experience with this though, because i would have to do this with my brothers broom." When she felt like she was done, she took a little break to feel her fingers. She heard cracking.
Right. So. Ellie held the broom out a bit, and then brought it close. It..looked asthetically pleasing...to her. And there were no kinks that she could see. So..job well done? Yeah?
Now to make it SHINE.
She put away the clippers and took out the polish and rag-thing. She dipped the rag-thing a bit into the polish and started in circles on the handle. Aaaaall over the handle.
Rubarubdub.
.......
.........
.......
.........
Done?
Now we wait.

Belle saw the end of the broom, which had the twigs all taken care but then she saw the metal band and it was crusty and gross, she got the polisher and started to polish it and also the two foot rests. "They are soo gross." Belle thought. But she didn't complain and she went on cleaning them. After a good 5 minutes of cleaning them, she saw her reflection in the metal band and the metal foot stools cleaned. She was finally done! Her arms were aching, perhaps she scrubbed a little too hard?

Rubbing the handle with her small towel, Kurumi didn't realize that she was also waving the handle around a bit too much and came close to smacking Treyen right smack in the forehead. Too bad that she was a little too concentrated on the whole polishing aspect to really notice this.
"Oh, there is a big glob here," she mused reaching for it with the towel and smushing it...a little too hard. A few globs of the polish went shooting off the end of her broom and smushed themselves to the back of the Hufflepuff's head - which Kurumi DID notice. "Um....T-T-Tre-Treyen..." she mumbled pointing to him. "Y-You have something on the back of your head..."

Averting her attention from the goo on the boy's head, Kurumi looked back at Selina who looked like she was about to pop either from laughter or concern. She certainly didn't want to swallow any of the polish...it probably tasted horrible on top of everything else. "I-I-If you don't mind," she said handing the soggy towel to the girl. "I'll observe and maybe be able to do things properly next time."
She could hope anyway...

Selina suddenly felt awful. Kurumi looked so ashamed at Selina's outburst of giggles, but one did have to admit that the image of polish everywhere was quite a funny one. Either way Selina still felt awful. Kurumi was much brighter than Selina and for sure she could handle polishing the metal. She was just anxious and Selina could not blame her. Sometimes pressure catalyzed fowl ups.
"No," Selina sighed, "I'm sorry Kurumi. You can do this, you just need to calm down. You are a smart girl... much smarter than me. Just don't let the pressure get to you. Come on, I believe that you can polish this. A little bit at a time. Don't over do it."
When she handed Kurumi back her cloth she gave her a warm smile.
Then Selina picked up an unused cloth and went over to Kurumi. To the best of her ability Selina tried to wipe off some of the polish from her face. The last thing Selina wanted to do was to use magic in flying. Vindictus would not be happy with that.
...118...119...120. Also known as two minutes. Usually. So Ellie took out the other rag.
Carefully, she went in circles, again, removing the unnecessary, globby polish.
Humm....humm, hum, hum, hum, hummm....
When she felt she was done, she held the broom out a bit again. Shinynesssssss! And so, once again, she exchanged rag-things. And, also once again, she dipped it into the polish and rubadubdubbed the metal.
And now wait. Once again. Heh.

Oh, dear Merlin. That's why he was Keeper, no? Because of his reflexes? Good thing he had them, otherwise he'll be the next Headless Horseman thanks to Kurumi. And where did he get the 'Horseman' part? Well, he was gaining a horse no matter what, instead of wandering about like Nearly-Headless Nick.
But since the girl was sort of nervous about this broom thing, then he wasn't saying anything. Kurumi was lucky.
Except...the boy straightened up when he felt something. On his neck. Near his precious hair. His eyes narrowed slightly since he'd thought it had been Salander the one to do so, but then he heard Kurumi's voice. "Good Merlin, Kurumi...," he started to say, really worried about what was on his neck, and then he saw the polish and sighed, "...well, I guess it could easily come off, right?" RIGHT?!
This was the last time he was sitting next to her. Granted.

"I think it will," she nodded not really know for sure herself. Her brother had once gotten black boot polish stuck in his hair and her mother had had to cut it out. Best not to mention that right now since Treyen's usual sparkly smile was, well, not sparkly.
Kurumi took a deep breath, she really needed to calm down or she was going to squirt someone in the eye with the polish. Perhaps even squirt herself. Maybe if she imagined the broom as something else...

Okay, so the fact that this was a broom and she was in Flying class was the problem. She needed to think about it as something different like...a cat being brushed. Yeah! That was it! The broom was just a rather large version of Walnut and she was brushing him.
Setting to finish of the polishing job that she had done a horrid job at so far, Kurumi pretending like she was back in the common room brushing Walnut's fur. Before she knew it, she had finished polishing and there were no globs of the stuff flying in different directions.

Selina watched in shock as Kurumi in a matter of moments found her center and completed the job to perfection. It was perfectly polished. Raising her eyebrow Selina said, "Well I'll be. That looks really good. See I told you that you were just over thinking it!"
The girl laughed and then got a good look at the state of Kurumi. Right... she was still the polish princess. "Um, Kurumi...?" Selina took the clean cloth and tried to help her wipe off the polish. There was a lot of it from Kurumi's frustration.

Sierra searched through her kit once again, this time coming out with a jar of Fleetwood's High-Finish Handle Polish. After dabbing a bit of the polish onto a cloth, Sierra took the cloth and gently moved it all the way down the handle. She studied the handle as she polished it, making sure she wasn't smearing any of the polish or causing it to build up in one particular area. So far, so good, though.
She still felt like she was being used to pick up slack for the professor, though. She glanced up at him for a split second and then quickly got back to polishing the handle of her broom. She had to admit--it was looking better by the minute. With its newly-trimmed twigs and (halfway) polished handle, it was starting to actually look...well, nice. Sierra took a few minutes to finish up polishing the handle before putting the cloth and polish away and getting ready for the next (and final) step.
"I think it will," she nodded not really know for sure herself. Her brother had once gotten black boot polish stuck in his hair and her mother had had to cut it out. Best not to mention that right now since Treyen's usual sparkly smile was, well, not sparkly.

Oh, dearest dear Gilderoy! It better come off! Treyen eyed Kurumi once more, and, well, he was about to ask for some cloth or anything, but changes were that her cloth was already imprinted with a whole lot more polish. Better not take any chances.
So, his robes will do, no?
That's what he did, he brushed the back of his neck with his sleeves and then turned to face the little Gryffindor, "Is it...not on me, now?" he asked, wondering, wondering, wondering, and hoping that it was off.
