Satine glanced up from her spot of reading under the beautifully colored stained glass portrait of Rowena Ravenclaw as she heard what sounded like...surely not...yes it was... smooching in the library.

She followed the sound and saw Jimmy and the girl, obviously his girlfriend, smooching him and smooching him pretty long.

She quickly glanced back down at her book...surely that little show wasn't for Satine's benefit...she smiled behind her book...it was flattering and a little annoying at the same time. Flattering that she made the girl worried like she was competition...that meant that Jim must've done or said something about Satine...an interesting thought.... and annoying because Satine realized that this was one of the reasons that she hadn't gone boy hunting before this year because of this kind of drama that could get stirred up...o well...this wouldn't stop her from saying hello to her new acquaintance but just because it's acquaintance doesn't mean it's that kind of an acquaintance...alteast not right now..... she thought with a little smirk as she continued reading.

"Oh sorry" Emily turned slightly red again, coughed, then pulled out her copy of Hogwarts: A History she had took into the common room to read before.
She turned to the chapter she was looking for and cleared her throut.
"The chamber of secrets. Well, Hogwarts was founded by 4 of the greatest witches and wizards: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. They build this school and for a few years, worked in harmony together, teaching students. But then disagreements sprung up between them. Especially Slytherin and the others. Eventually they argued so bad that he left. Slytherin wanted to be more... selective about the students addmitted to Hogwarts. He wanted to keep magical learning within all-magic families, not ones born of muggle parentage..."
Emily stopped and frowned.
"Uh, of course, these silly 'pro pure-blood' traditions havn't been around for 50 or so years. So don't worry about being muggle-born and don't worry about the slytherins! We have a nice school unity now, no-one will be mean like they used to..."
She was rambling again
"Em... should I go on?"

"Yeah, I get it so far. The guy didn't want a load of muggle-born kids in the school," Beth said, "But just because people are in Slytherin doesn't mean that they will be mean to muggle-borns too. I understand."

"Oh sorry, I'm not insulting your intelligence or anything! I just didn't know whether, because your muggle-born an all... anyway it is said that before Slytherin left, he had created a chamber within Hogwarts the other founders did not know about. And he said that some day slytherin's heir would come back and open the chamber, releasing the monster within."
Emily paused for emphsis
"No-one thought it exsisted until the Harry Potter discovered it..."
Emily then gave Beth an accusing look
"You do know who Harry Potter is? Don't you?"
She just had to! He was the most famous wizard alive!

Beth just stood there and looked at Emily. "I'm a muggle-born, I have no idea who Harry Potter is. I'm sorry but he only things I know are from some books I've read and what you've told me."

Emily took a deep breath. This would be harder than she thought.
"Harry Potter is the only person to survive the killing curse! He's defeated you-know-who twice, saved the wizarding world (and muggle world for that matter) countless of times and he's on the chocolate frog cards!"
Emily paused again, then realised Beth probably had no idea what any of that meant.
"Tell me what you want to know about what i've just said, just... one thing at time, ok?" she was slightly stressed now.

Jimmy shrugged.

"Well then the better you do, the better I look or something right?" So you know, if she couldn't pass for herself, she could try to pass for him or something, even if he WOULD prefer her to do it for herself.

He kissed Marie back gently and shrugged.

"Why does she want to get at me though? What the hell is wrong with just getting to know a person and being friends with them?" Pause, "And acknowledging that I'm so much better at getting at her than she is at me?" He grinned.


Brows.

"Relax, Marie. Its no big deal."

whewww she was a bit of a stresspot wasn't she?

Yeah yeah. Caught.

James was in the library but clearly he had reason yes? Sitting with a pretty girl and it wasn't like he had books out or looked like he was studying or anything.

He waved back and grinned, shaking his head ruefully.

"Yeah, okay we'll g..." Jim was cut off by surprise kissing. That was.... fine and all but unexpected. What brought that on?

He pulled away and grinned at Marie. Well okay then.

"Sounds good."

He paused. "I'm just gonna go say hi to my... friend, won't be too long."

James stood up and sauntered over to Satine.

"Hey Satine, how's it goin? Thought I'd better say hi and all," He leaned forward a bit and shoved his hands in his pocket, "Wouldn't want you to think I'm rude or anythin'."

He grinned crookedly at his housemate.

"You reading something amusing then?" Yeah we see that little smirk you're sporting.

Satine bent her magazine down as someone said her name, smirk still on her face. She was almost startled to see Jimmy standing in front of her...o smack good thing he couldn't read her mind...busted.... She glanced around him momentarily to glance at the table...surely he let his girlfriend leave before he came over here after the way she had reacted to Satine. Nope still there...

She focused back in on Jimmy and her smirk became her usual welcoming smile. "Hey Jimmy! I was hoping you still remembered me since our last convo got a little firey at the end of it." she said with a little giggle. "O rude...I'd never think you were rude..." she said swinging her legs down to touch the floor and placing the magazine down beside her on the seat..."I just could tell that you were..." pause, "ummm...busy....but guess that counts as the anything...." she said looking back up meeting his eyes with a combination between a smile and a smirk on her face.

She glanced over at the magazine when he mentioned it. "Oooo...well it's about the most beautimous places in the Wizarding World...." she paused trying to explain something that she was afraid he would think stupid..."to host events...I want to be Wizarding and Muggle Event and Wedding Planner someday, so I'm always looking at books to see places that would make a great venue for these events." she said with her face lit up....this was her passion and what she had her heart set on even if her parents thought it was a waste of her brains...o well...

She smiled and then glanced over his shoulder towards his girlfriend and then back at him....a little awkward not talking to him that was never awkward in her opinion...but awkward with her looking at Satine.

"Right." She agreed even though to her he looked good no matter what.

"I don't know. Something about the first time she met you I guess. She really didn't go into details with me about it. Just said you weren't intimidated by her." Okay so maybe those weren't her exact words but Marie knew that's what she meant. "Right, that will never happen. Ev isn't the type of person that ever admits defeat."

"Right, no big deal." She still had plenty of time to study... and to freak out over this exam.

Marie could tell by Jim's reaction that her kiss had taken him by surprise. Good, she liked surprising him like that. Keep him on his toes that way.

She put her bag over her shoulder ready to head off to the place that was a little more private than the library when...

WHAT!?

He was going to go talk to his friend and just leave her standing there. Before she even had a chance to object he was walking away. Watching where he went her eyes fell upon the girl with the purple hair.

Really!?

He was going to talk to the girl that was the reason behind that kiss she had just given him. Friends huh? And what kind of friend would she be? Obviously one he didn't want to introduce to his girlfriend. She couldn't believe he had just done that. If she would have seen one of her friends there she would have NEVER left him standing. No, she would have wanted to introduce him to her friend... even if it was another guy.

She leaned back against the wall and glared in their direction. 'Yeah, I'm watching you two.'

*GLARE!*

Strike one James Wilkes!

Finlay laughed, nudging her legs with his arms. No more questions was very good, although Finn had a feeling that it wasn't going to be the last of the questions. Mia was a nosy girl like that. Really Finlay didn't mind though, Mia could ask as many questions as she liked, within reason though. As long as Finn could ask them back, and he would totally be asking her. hehe.

Finn smiled at her. He didn't really know how it felt to not see ones partner, because well Ara was only his second proper girlfriend, and she was here, so it was pretty easy. "Stay Strong Mia." He grinned at her, poking her foot with a laugh. It was really amazing how much fun they had together, it made him laugh. He definetly had to hang out with Mia more.

Hmm. Finn glanced around the vicinity of the library that they were in, and found it a bit surprised to see Jimmy, and Marie, although Jimmy was walking away from Marie. He was surprised that he hadn't noticed them before, but right now Marie didn't look very happy. "Marie's here." He commented, nodding his head in her direction. Maybe they could go over to her....

"Emm. . . Well I get the bit about surviving the killing curse I guess, cos that besically means he's special because no one else has ever done it. Then thats where I'm lost, who is you-know-who?" Beth asked.

Emily liked Beth, but sometimes she wanted to throw a book at her face.
"You-know-who is... correction: was Lord Voldermort. He was a dark wizard who rose to power twice. And was defeated by Harry Potter... twice. People called him you-know-who because they were afraid to say the name. I just say it cause I don't like to say his name. Volder... you-know-who killed hundreds of people and had some followers called death eaters. They were the scariest dark wizards ever! But, like I said he was defeated by Harry and the death eaters were captured and sent to azkaban. Any escaped death eaters will be long gone by now"

She had said this rather fast and was out of breath.

"Anything else you want to know?"

That made Mia laugh. Stay strong. What did he think she was going to do? "Don't worry Finn, I'm not going to fall apart. I would love to have him here with me. But at least I don't have to worry about feeling jealous if he was here. I saw how many girls were fawning over him last year." And yes she had been one of them.

Still giggling, Mia followed Finn's gaze and she immediately stopped her giggling and a small frown appeared on her face when she saw Marie. Her friend didn't look too happy and her gazed moved a little further and she spotted the reason for the look on her friend's face. "Uh oh. I think we better go over there Finn."

Finlay laughed, grinning at her. At least if she did fall apart he, as her amazing best friend would be there to give her a big hug. He was just so amazing like that. "Haha....that probably is a good thing." He grinned at her. A jealous best friend was probably not what he needed right now. "It is a shame that he's so far away though." Mia had a lot more strength than he did, Finn wouldn't have been able to do what she was. Not at all.

Finn frowned too. Marie really didn't look very happy. "Me too." He nodded, pushing her legs gently off of his lap before standing up. He had a feeling that this wasn't going to lead anyway good, and a cat fight in the middle of the library wasn't probably the best of ideas. Giving Mia one more glance, he wandered over to Marie. "Hey Marie."

Yeah it was a shame that Nik was so far away but Mia was dealing with it. What else was she supposed to anyway? Ask him to move closer? Nope that was not her style at all and besides Nik was happy with his new job.

Mia stood up after Finn and followed him over to where Marie was standing. Oh boy! The girl looked like she was getting ready to throw a few punches. "Hey Marie." She said brightly and with a smile on her face. Her friend couldn't resist her happy, smiling face now, could she?

Oblivious to everything around her Marie was still standing there glaring in the direction of her boyfriend and the purple headed girl. Really, how long did he expect her to wait while he chatted with his friend that he was only going to say hi to?

It wasn't until she heard her name that she realized just how tightly she had been gripping the strap of her bag that was over her shoulder. Looking up to see who was there she seen Finn and Mia. What the hell did Mia look so happy for? "Hey guys." She said turning her attention back to the scene a few tables away from them.

'Yeah, I'm still watching you two.'

"Why would anyone be intimidated by her?" James didn't get it. "Pretty little slip of a thing with a chip on her shoulder, must be a bit messed up in the head if she's angling to make people hate her." Well Jimmy wasn't gonna. So Evelyn could just deal with it.

And enjoy the Dragon claw/horn/thing whatever it was that he'd bought for her.

... that he'd bought for her admittedly just to brass her off.

"She doesn't have to admit defeat." Grin. "Body language says a lot you know?" Yep. He bothered her. He knew it. But honestly he'd prefer it if she just sucked it up and got to know him a little better. They could be friends, he was sure.

"I promise you'll be fine." He winked at Marie before heading off to talk to Satine.

"Pshh yeah little is right." Jim grinned. "Honestly it wasn't that big of a fire." Yeah he should know, he did go through a mild... lets call it 'pyromaniacal' stage as a kid. "Best way to put out a fire is to starve it, rather than dowse it. Like, conjure a bubble and siphon the oxygen out. Works like a charm and doesn't make so much smoke either, contains what you do get." He leaned against her seat, one hand gripping the back of it behind her head as he leaned forward to whisper to Satine.

"I suppose I was." Jimmy spoke quietly enough not to be overheard. "Marie's my girlfriend. She's mostly pretty awesome." He straightened up and crossed his arms over his chest, grinning crookedly.

"Events huh? My mum always wanted to hire our manor house out for that sort of thing, but my dad's not so into it." He thought about it. "I probably would though, be kinda nice to see people around there." And enjoying his garden too, not that he'd say that out loud or admit to anyone that most of the hard work that went into the garden at his home came from him.

Jim Wilkes never admitted to hard work if he could help it.

"Maybe I'll show you a picture some time." He waggled his brows at Satine. "I'd offer you reasonable rates. You know, in the future when you're a famous wedding planner slash event coordinator." He paused. "You must throw a mean party, huh?"

Jimmy?

Didn't even notice the glaring.

Actually he thought Marie'd go wait outside the library and all, rather than wait right there, expecting it to the point where he didn't even turn around to check.

Hmm, apparently Marie could resist her happy, smiling face. Mia knew what was wrong with her friend but she didn't know what to do to help her. She had never been in that kind of situation before and she really hoped that she never was.

Running her hand through her hair. "Did you...um...want to go down to the great hall and get something to eat?" The Hufflepuff didn't realise that was probably the most ridiculous thing to say to her friend right now.

Marie just rolled her eyes when Jimmy said Evelyn must be a bit messed up in the head. And really, she wasn't trying to make people hate her... just be afraid of her.

Was Mia serious here? Did Marie look like she wanted to go get something to eat? What she wanted to do was go over and whack her boyfriend in the head and say, 'Hello, girlfriend over here waiting while you chat with some other girl.'

"No, I don't want anything to eat Mia." She said still not taking her eyes off James and the girl she still didn't know.

What the HELL was going on over there!? Feeling her blood start to boil she watched as he leaned into the girl looking like he was about to KISS her. Did the boy forget his girlfriend was just a few feet away from them watching everything that was happening? Did he even CARE that she was watching? Oh, he was SO going to hear about this.

Strike TWO!

Hmm. It seemed that Marie was waiting for Jimmy whilst he was talking to Satine, which seemed kind of reasonable to him? Although it was a bit weird that Marie wasn't over there with them, because well Finn wouldn't have left her over here on her own. Especially considering that Marie did not look happy at all. Bad movee brother. Maybe Finn could like go tell him to pay more attention to his girlfriend? haha.

Finn glanced between Mia, and Marie. Food? Heh. Finn was good with going to get food. But it seemed Marie didn't want too. Finn didn't say anything though, becuase he really didn't know what to say, and if Mia couldn't he had a feeling that he wouldn't be able to at all.
So he'd just do the one thing that he thought might work. "I'll be back in a minute..." He commented, smiling at both the girls, before wandering over to Jimmy, and Satine.

"Hey Jim...Hey Satine." Now....Jimmy remember your girlfriend is over there?

Satine tilted her head to the right just a little bit while he explained the best way to put out a fire...hmmm...odd....but interesting that he knew this. She smiled and pointed to her temple, "Well, I guess I'll keep a mental note of those tips and give it try next time someone sets their butt and a couch on fire near me." She said with a little giggle.

Satine was a little surprised that he was leaning in to her so close....and with his girlfriend just over there...she looked up and yes still daggers were being thrown her way from the girl's eyes...not good not good....and now he was whispering in her ear...and then it hit her....well there were one of three things going on...a. he was using her to make the girlfriend jealous or b. he was just always a flirt which he was good at or c. he might be interested in her...all of the three required him not to be whispering in her ear that close with said girlfriend across the way....well two can play this game she thought....

Before he could straighten back up she turned her face so that she was inches away from his and her usual smile was replaced with a mischievous and flirting grin..well maybe a smirk....she leaned towards his ear and whispered in response..."O your girlfriend...well if you're trying to make her jealous then it's working." she said nodding towards her and then she leaned back towards his ear and continued again. " you know it's a shame you didn't meet me before you were attached to someone else....especially someone that's just 'mostly pretty awesome'...." she just left it at that so she could judge his reaction and figure out what his intentions where and watched as he stood up.

That accomplished a few things...a. if he really wanted to make to make her jealous she was sure it was working and she pointed out the fact that it was and that Satine knew it. b. if she was being used then it just backfired a little bit and c. if he was interested she just dangled the carrot...o Satine what have you done....this was not like her at all but she was up against a wall with those dagger eyes looking at her and a handsome boy whispering close to her ear...yes it was a library but still awkward all in the same....I mean wouldn't he just introduce the girlfriend to Satine...just awkward....


She glanced up at him as he waggled (OOC. haha...) and smiled, "O I bet it is a beautiful place and a garden would be perfect sooooo many peeps want to get married or have parties in gardens. And honestly I'd love to see a picture..." she could already envision what it looked like in her head...it probably would be absolutely perfect. She smirked when he said she would be famous..."O I hope some day that I truly am a famous one. My plan is to open a shop in Diagon Alley after I graduate...." she smiled thinking that through and then answered, "O, well there's only one way to find out if I throw a mean party...." she let her last statement trail off as someone walked up.

She looked up with a smile and held up her hand for a high five., "Hey Big G!"

Beth knew that that had been a question but she was a bit afraid to answer truethfully. "Only one more question," Beth said. "What in the world is a chocolate frog?"

Emily coudn't help laugh at this question. Mabye too loud as heads turned in her direction.
"Oh..." Emily said still sniggering "They're sweets. Wizarding sweets. Like the sugar quill I gave you on the Hogwarts Express. Anyway, chocolate frogs come with cards you can collect. Famous wizards and witches are on them, so obviously he's on them."

She smiled and wiped her eyes. She had been crying with laughter. Why had she found that so funny?

"Anyway, anything else you didn't understand?"

Alex didn't like the library that much, it made him think of school and homework. Although he did like the stained windows, it was just quiet... He didn't usually like quiet but he supposed everyone needed some quiet time. Although he wouldn't mind running into someone there. With a little sigh he sat down in the window on the comfortable cushion and rested his head back on the wall. At Hogwarts at last.

"Poor guy. Didja see what happened to his wand?" That'd suck. Jim wasn't sure he could manage without one himself. But then he used a holster so sitting on his wand and causing a fire wasn't gonna happen anytime soon.

Jim gave Satine a surprised look.

"Marie? Jealous? Why would she be?" Really. He was dating her exclusively, which he NEVER did. Ever. That alone was surely a sign that he liked her and she had no reason to be jealous? He looked over for Marie and was surprised to see her waiting there and looking just a bit tense. He grinned and waved.

Sureeeely she wasn't jealous? Wasn't like he was snogging Satine or anything.

Brows.

Why, Satine. Are you propositioning us?

Jimmy laughed. "Yeah. It may be a shame but, its the way it is. Tragic I know." He placed his hand over his heart, still chuckling. "I could do with a few more 'mostly pretty awesome' friends though, if you think you're up to it. But you're gonna have to tell me what the deal is with the purple." It was entirely fascinating. Entirely.

"I've got a few in my room." Jimmy answered. "I'll show you next time I see you up that way." Not... in his room but.... yeah. The commons. Grin.

Ehh there goes that 'graduate' thing again. Jim's smile faded a bit.

"Yeah you're gonna have to throw one to prove me right." He looked up as Finn approached.

"Hey bud. Hows it goin?" Jim looked around. Aww Mia too? He waved at the Hufflepuff as well, usual mischievous grin in place and turned his attention back to Satine and now Finlay.

"I should go. I just wanted to say hi, Satine." He took a step backwards and gave Finlay's shoulder a little nudge. "See you at tryouts?"
