| | Stained Glass Windows Fire and paper do not go well together. The library, therefore, features a reduced number of torches on the walls to minimize any danger to the books. A number of large stained glass windows, placed at regular intervals where the room is part of the outside wall of the castle, ensure that sufficient light gets in. Stretching all the way to the ceiling, these windows depict different famous witches and wizards, momentous historical occasions, and beautifully detailed magical creatures.
Relax on one of the cushioned window seats. Watch the floor and nearby shelves change subtly in color as the sunlight shines through the stained glass panels. Read a book under the calm gaze of Merlin or the fearsome scowl of a Manticore. Sometimes, it is difficult to stay focused here, but there are students who swear that, when sitting at the window of Rowena Ravenclaw, work gets completed faster.
All rules apply here, and although the glass can't be broken by simple spells or physical force, please be careful and respect the artwork on the windows. Remember to keep your voice down so as not to disturb those also visiting the library. |

Sophie walked up to the fourth floor to get some study time in the library for dinner and maybe speak to Professor Donovan if she was available. Coming into the library the Gryffindor prefect made her way through the book shelves to the benches under the stained glass windows. It was always nice and quiet there and not too many students about. Sophie needed to study because when the tea party preparations got into second gear she would need to focus all her attention on that. Seating herself down on the nearest bench she scooted back to rest her back against the wall. Taking up her charms textbook she engulfed herself in the repetition of summoning charms which was known to appear on the OWL’s.

Even though he did enjoy reading, Evan was setting his foot into the place for the first time in the year, which was quite... normal for him. Because his parents usually supplied him with the novels he wanted, and his lesson books were more than enough for his studies and the study tables in his common room more silent than necessary. Though, he had to come here today, because his owl was sick, thus his book hadn't been delivered yet. He was also extremely bored in the common room. So, picking up a book about Muggle Studies Football Edition--of course, was there any better book around?--he made his way to the Stained Glass windows to read it, until--
Sophie.
He halted in his spot, and bit his lips in indecision. Should he say hi? Should he just ignore her? Or maybe he should return back? He was sure he had missed an article in the latest Four-Four-Two, and that would keep him entertained until dinner time. Looking around, he noticed there were also two little girls, one he recognised as--Crap, what was her name again?--and the other one from another house. Even though the last option was the most attractive and the second one still good, he approached to her and said a cool "Sophie," as he walked past her and towards the girls. See, he still saved his maturity and coolness plus totally avoided eye contact. Yeah, he was cool like that.
As he sat next to the girls, he opened his book to read... but the girls were making too much of sound for him to focus on. Football was serious business, it required utmost-- "What?!" he muttered to himself with a deep frown as he heard what they were talking about. Switching common rooms?! What the--? Pretending to be reading his book, he thought of a wise thing to make them realise what they were talking about. But he couldn't find any. Even his coolness and wisdom had its borders. Stealing a glance from Sophie, he cursed under his breath. Now he was stuck in a horrible situation he wanted to avoid fully: he had to ask for her help after barely acknowledging her. "Sophie?" he leaned on towards where she sat, only audible for her. "I think you need to come and... he--ar this." Help me out? No way. Hear it, and then advise. Much better, and still avoiding eye contact. All cool. |

Taking it from mid air she placed it on the bench beside to put it back later. Skimming through the charms book she searched the pages for the severing charm. Finally finding it Sophie took out an apple and held her wand over it 'Diffindo!' the apple cut itselves into two pieces. Taking one half the brunette started to munch on it when she heard footsteps coming closer.
Sophie didn't lift her head since she just figured it was a passersby. But it was not just anyone. It was, Evan. Hearing him call out her name she looked up saying "Evan." before turning back to her book. He hadn't stopped to talk so the brunette didn't make any attempt to stop him. Burying her head in her charms text book Sophie was totally oblivious to the two girls talking up ahead about 'disguising themselves into each other.' She had her head and attention in the charms world.
Evan's quiet almost inaudible whisper made her look up from her book slightly irritated. Her studying had been going so good. The look in Evan's eyes stopped her from acting on her irritation though, instead she placed her book down and asked slowly in a quiet whisper "Hear what, Evan?" Looking around the benches she didn't see anyone about except two girls. Was Evan referring to their conversation?

Well, if that was what she wanted, fine, she'd get it. Evan didn't even think that going on to another spot caused her to ignore him as well. Because if she wanted to talk she would, wouldn't she? Hmpf. Well, she had to, now. And no Sebby around to save her. HA!
Stealing a fast glance at the girls to check if they had heard that two prefects were talking about them, he whispered back "They're planning to--" Eh, it was too risky from there. He got up trying to be as casual as possible, hoping that they hadn't seen him being cool towards her a few seconds ago, and made his way to her. Leaning slightly on her ear, he completed his sentence. "They're going to make a polyjuice and switch to each other's look to... 'break the rules' and see how the other's common room is." He looked back at her eyes, keeping an obvious distance. They had to interfere, obviously. |

Elle's emerald eyes suddenly turned to a dark shade of green, burning bright with ideas and mischief.
" I'll look for a safe spot for us to do our potion. Could you look for some spells, not too illegal or dangerous please, on how to conceal this experiment we're doing?" She smiled, suggesting.
Not giving Anna the chance to respond, much less express her sentiments, the First Year marched off and out into the Great Library. Before she reached the doors, she waved at her friend and spoke in a not-so-loud voice and yet audible and clear.
" See you there. I'll be bringing the materials there." She rested a finger on her pursed lips, making a clear sign that this would be a secret between her and the Second Year.

| ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ Legend always loved this part of the library. Where the stained glass windows were it was so peaceful. He never did get any studying done in this part, he just came to relax. Plopping down on a window seat he opened up a book on popular Defense combination's that he had found on the shelf and began to read. So relaxing!

Smiling she called out, " Legend, could you please grab a couple of these off the top so I can see a bit better?" PLEEEEAAAASEEEEEE.

Legend blinked, wondering if he would ever be able to do anything that was inside the book. He was already a sixth year and there was no way he'd learn any of these things in just a year. Legend looked up from the book as someone called his name.
The sixth year rolled his eyes. "Nice Lexi. You do realize you are a witch riggght?" Pulling his wand from his pocket he gave it a swift flick and all the books began to levitate off of Lexi's hands on onto the floor in a neat pile. "Yes, yes I am amazing, I know thank you."

Yes... she COULD have done that. " Madame Donovan doesn't like people using wands near the books is all, Legend," she said casting a glance around to be sure she wasn't nearby.
" Thanks for the help though," she said with a smile. " What you reading anyway?" she asked as she plopped down next to him.

Legend didn't see what the big deal was. They were are Hogwarts, filled with hundreds of wizards and witches in training, so magic was already constantly in the air. "No problem." Legend grinned, it really wasn't a problem too him. He didn't even need to do any manual labor. "Er- just this book on different combinations of spells or movements you can use to defend yourself. They are bloody insane though." He muttered bitterly as he looked at the front of the book. And he thought he'd be able to do them too!

He would be in SO much trouble. SHe simply shrugged and chose not to speak on the matter.
" Defensive magic? Any particular reason why you are studying it so much? Hey... why don't we head to the lounge instead of sitting out here? We can spread our books out and chill," Lexi said and jerked her head toward it. Maybe? Yes? No? Didn't matter either way, really. She didn't mind the stained glass windows.

Legend was already comfortable. Rolling his eyes the sixth year closed the book. "Nope. I just find that stuff interesting. I'm pretty weird." In an awesome way of course. "Alright let's go." Legend flicked his wand, once again levitating Lexi's books. It was too much of a hassle to actually carry them. "So how have you been? I haven't spoken to you in forever." And that was true. It felt like forever at least.

" Actually, the reason I asked is that I, too, am interested in Defensive magic and whatnot," she said in a clipped tone, but smiled nonetheless.
Aww he was levitating her books. Lovely. She began to lead the way to the lounge and shrugged slightly. " I have been fine, I suppose. Just studying and trying to stay out of trouble. If that were possible. And you? I haven't seen you around much it seems," she commented.
