The staff are seated at a long table, stretching across a dais at the front of the room. Feel free to come up and greet them after the feast has started.
Chasing away students from her office? Oh dear, no, that would be a bit harsh, even for Maya. Unless they planted dungbombs around her cottage. "If I must." She shrugged, throwing him a glance as she sipped on her water again. "Well, you see all the students in this room...I expect every one of them will visit your office sooner or later." So yeah, mucho traffic. Not that Maya would admit out loud, but it was nice to have them atleast care enough to come visit you, for whatever reason.
Jared's comment and that look he got made the Mexicana feel like she finally found a normal Professor to talk to. But when he asked about the nursery, she could almost barely hide a face that said 'Cutie, please.' Pffft, ofcourse they had one! Instead, she tried to just smile and nod. "Ofcourse." Had he seen the grounds yet? "If you need a guide to show you around, let me know."
Jared doubted he'd have enough time to be met by each student in the hall, but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it. He had long since learned that life was best taken in short bursts. He gave Maya a light nod, dropping the subject and noting that her smile seemed a little off as she responded to his question about a nursery. Had she expected him to know that?
Perhaps.
"I see." He smiled, his usual half-smile. "I'm afraid I haven't had the opportunity to explore English schools before." Fact and lazy explanation.

She smiled at his comment, idly taking a sip from her glass of water before she spoke. "They certainly can be pesky like that," she replied with another grin. "And I must say I agree. That would be a little tame." Dangerous creatures didn't usually stop at just making a person unconscious. One reason why she'd kept her distance, most of the time. There had been moments.
She shrugged lightly as he steered the conversation back to herself, however. "Occasionally. You'll find I can be a bit, well, unpredictable, really," she responded, almost cryptically. Knowing reactions had always made it so much easier to be that way. She could find out what was expected, then switch things up. And besides, that fire could also be used for more than light, getting back to Divination ideas. She was better with the Tarot, though. Not to mention she imagined her choice in reading material could be surprising.
She wasn't about to say anything else, while there was the amusement to be had of watching students developing crushes, and she sat back in her chair again as it seemed he was a bit, oh, confused by Miss Skye's words. That was the easiest way of putting it, although if he was truly that innocent it added to those layers she liked. She was tempted to continue her little connection, but held back for once. This was more fun without it. A wry half-smile crept onto her face at his question to the girl, though. "Actually, I think she means something else entirely," she commented, not quite hiding the sparkle in her eyes. Even if he was in denial, it was too tempting to not tease him.

A voice.. Of a woman.. Raes eyes tore away from the beautiful man in front of her to some lady next to him. GRRRR.
Interupting their talk.. That's what she was doing. Nonetheless Rae played along like a nice girl.. She did say she would act like an angel this year.. It was said but not meant. "Precisely...." Rae said calmly, her eyes now not leaving the woman's... This guy may be innocent and might not catch on... But if this woman was smart... She would get her eye message...
After she had the impression that possibly this lady had understood Rae's look, she turned her attention back to Sir Gorgeous.
"That's alright... Feverish... That could work too..." Feverishly HOT!
Garlic man must radiate more heat than an engine for Jared to look feverish. Jared momentarily pushed the thought to the back of his mind, and turned his green gaze and attention to Renée.
"Unpredictability is an amazing thing," he said. No guarantees meant possibilities, and possibilities meant risks. Her refusal to be forthcoming amused him, even felt refreshing. He had an entire year ahead of him to polish the acquaintance and that, the leisurely pace, suited him just fine. "I can't say I'd not expect it of a diviner." Did that make it predictable for her to be unpredictable? He had to smile.
Something else? Entirely? Jared had had his share of being had a crush on and could handle that kind of thing perfectly; but it had never occurred to him that a student might look at him in that light. Renée's statement, however, did cause him to think of the new nickname's literal meaning. It did not help that Rae had decided to add a 'too' at the end of her sentence.
"I... I'm sure it could," he said to the girl, choking on his juice and quickly looking around for a distraction.

Bingo! Distraction. "Here, let me." Jared beckoned the student closer, casting a nonverbal to fix her cheek. There. The perfect excuse not to meet Renée's all-knowing mischievous gaze, or Rae'sfeverish one.
Yeah. He'd convinced himself that Rae had a fever.
Don't worry... She will be seeing him again.. Real soon.

Poor girl.
Agh!
All these other people in the way! Why did this girl have to bleed?
Glare at the bleeding one, then glare at the woman... Fine... She will be done then... For now..
"I see you are now busy.. I'll be looking forward to extra help.. There wont be distractions then." Glare one last time at the woman next to him... "I'll see you soon.... Le Prof Chaud." After adding a small smile then biting her lip a bit, she turned with a little swoosh of her wavy black hair back to the Slytherin table.

Yes. He could, unfortunately, tell she'd be looking forward to the extra help. Perhaps she'd turn out to be decent at charms and so provide him an excuse to call remedial lessons off. For now, however, he could only keep back another cough, pretend that he had not seen her glare at Renée, and nod.
"Yes. Enjoy the rest of the evening, Miss Skye."
Le Professor Chaud?

Renée felt almost like she was being used as a distraction, now, but that hardly bothered her. The whole situation was amusing her to no end, especially coming after the earlier incident with the other students who had actually come to talk to her. Besides, Miss Skye's glares were a little unfounded really, considering Renée had very well understood they were due to a belief she had interrupted. Rae hardly could have known her original glance had told much more than the girl really thought. But she brought her attention back to Jared as he looked at her, another half-smile creeping onto her face at his words. "Of course," she said with a tiny shrug. "I can't say all diviners are completely unpredictable, though." But then, she only partially considered herself one. She was finding it advantageous that it seemed her mysteriousness was intriguing him. Meant more conversations, at least, and possibly without brunette seventh years with crushes on him interrupting.
Feeling she was doing more with her silence in the situation than when she was interjecting, she simply let the conversation continue. Faint smile still on her face as Jared seemed to get more uncomfortable as Miss Skye continued. The occasional glares the girl sent her way didn't bother her, as it almost inferred she was a threat. Although the one that had been sent the innocent bleeding girl had turned her expression more serious for a moment. That was really uncalled for, and she had shifted in her seat seconds before Jared had stepped in and healed the girl. Concerned look on her face as she quietly waited for the little Ravenclaw's answer to her fellow staff member's question, she merely raised an eyebrow as Miss Skye left with one last glare. There were better things to focus on than a schoolgirl crush, however amusing it still was..

"Of course," Jared said. "One might go as far as to say exceptions are the norm." That ruined the point of exceptions, but he'd yet to see a field that did not encompass them. He'd have taken the conversation further, but Renée had fallen silent and he, for his part, felt like a walk might sooth the almost frazzled edges of his nerves.
Besides, he needed time to think. For more than one reason. He had a letter to respond to, and he had not figured out a response yet.
"Renée." He spoke softly, almost apologetically. "If you'll excuse me, I think I should head to my office now." The feast had almost come to a close and he assumed she'd head to her office too, sometime in the next five or so minutes. "But I'd find it a pleasure to continue this conversation, later."

The silence had started to take over Renée's thoughts, as it seemed other professors were stepping in when it came to Miss Skye. Even though she thought the girl had actually chosen to leave on her own, with her choice of not really paying attention it was possible she hadn't. That was the downside of letting things occur on their own, it seemed. However, as Jared responded to their conversation, she broke from her silence long enough to send him a glance and another smile. "Except for the fact the exceptions might find that insulting," she said, faint thread of amusement in her voice. She couldn't muster up much more at the moment, and as it was fell back into her silence again. It seemed the feast had taken a turn, but it also seemed to be over soon.
After a few more moments, though, she heard her name again. Softly, but it was there, and she turned to Jared questioningly. Even if she hadn't recognized the voice, he'd been really the only one she'd talked to, and therefore the only one who would refer to her by name. "Of course," she said, equally as softly. Maybe not as apologetically, but she wasn't the one taking their leave. "I'd love that. So, at a later time, then," she replied, finally working up another smile for him. At least it shouldn't be too hard to find each other later. She just hoped he'd manage to get the time to do the thinking he obviously needed to do, without interruption for more lovestruck students.

The Great Hall had begun to empty. Jared turned to Maya, ending the temporary lapse in their conversation. "If you'll excuse me," he said, lifting his goblet to her, once again. "I should head to my office."
He gave Renée a half-smile. "I should have said this before." He raised his goblet. "Echanté, mademoiselle."
Rising to his feet, Jared descended from the staff dias, and disappeared out of the Great Hall.
Ethan turned his head towards Ikenna Gevrik as the man spoke, expression unchanging beneath his shades.
He spared a glance at Tate and then stood up.
"Excuse me." He directed this at Tate, Vindictus and Lafay in particular, since they were nearby, and then stood up, following Gevrik.
Max didn't even have time to reply but maybe this would be his chance to make an escape.
"I guess I should be leaving, too," he said to Tate and Hecate as he rose to his feet. "Need to get any updates on the situation in...um, the, uh, Ministry...yeah...Rex said he's going to contact me regarding some Quidditch business."
Vindictus smiled and wasn't too far behind Truebridge as he hurried out of the Great Hall.
