Default Room of Requirement

You're searching the castle for a mysterious room you have heard of called The Room of Requirement. You have searched every nick and cranny of the castle but still no room. You climb the stairs to the seventh floor and come across a stange tapestry showing Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls to dance the ballet. You laugh at the silly tapestry until you side almost burst. Then you remember hearing the Room is located opposite such a tapestry. You turn around expecting to see a door, but find a blank wall instead. You start walking back and forth three times concentrating hard on what it is you need. Suddenly a door appears. You open it and discover you have found the Room of Requirement...

*Feeling like pure rubbish Matty walked back and forth until a book oak door came up. Opening it he saw his room. The library/sitting/piano room came up just like it always had. He walked in shoulders slumped and sat down on the couch in front of the fireplace.*
"How is it one day can turn into rubbish in twenty minutes?"

Hugo entered the room, checking if Fee was behind him. He had the pocket watch in his hand. "Let's do some transfiguartion," he said and smiled.

Aiming her wand at the watch she said,"Comeltia!"A image of a compass popped up in her head. The compasswas pink and silver.Very handy.Hehe.

Hugo smiled at Fee when her watch turned into a pink compass. Hugo was going to go for a more authentic look. Concentrate. How could he concentate when the most beautiful girl in Hogwarts was standing next to him? Right. Focus. He studied the room he was in. It had turned into a big room with the letters N - W - S - E on the walls to be able to look if the compass was right. There was a big rock in the middle of the room, on which he laid the compass. He looked at the compass. Focused on the compass. "Comletia!" A spark errupted from Hugo's chestnut wand and the watch jumped a little- dissolving into a compass only moments later. Hugo walked towards it and picked it up. He was a bit disappointed to see it. It wasn't bad, but not great. Too little detail. In his head he made a mental list of improvements. "Go ahead," he told Fee, still studying the compass.

Hugo scratched his chin, looking at the compass. "Well it's pointing that way," he said and pointed to the wall. "I think it's pointing to the corridor," he said. "Or the owlery." Boy, this was hard. "But I think we have to go out on the grounds. If it's pointing to the owlery, we can go to the grounds from there."

Not all things had worked out the way she would have hoped, there was no skating while in France, and spending time with Kai back home made time for skating kind of difficult. But Katie wasn't about to mention any of that, knowing none of it would end well.

Though her rambling had already come to an end, Katie would have been silenced by Legend's firm voice telling her to shut up. In the past she would have pitched a fit and shouted at him for even thinking he could get away with telling her to shut up, but now, sitting on the freezing cold ice, she said nothing. What could she say to that? He made a fair point, and really, it wasn't like she could just sit on the frozen lake created by the magic held within the Room of Requirement forever. She would eventually need food, and they had classes. It wouldn't work out. Plus, she couldn't take chances with never being able to skate again, as Legend chose to put it.

Looking up at the offered hand, the Hufflepuff took a final moment to think over the situation and be really sure she had no other options that didn't involve going to the Hospital Wing, before slipping her smaller hand into his and very carefully pulling herself up, doing her best not to use her right foot much; It was bearable, but the least amount of weight she put on it, the better off she was. Testing how well the spell had worked, Katie gently tried stepping down with her toes and hobble/shuffled the littlest bit to close the gap between herself and the Gryffindor, dark eyes on her sock-covered feet and a hand holding back the curls that tried to fall forward.

It was sort of funny, thinking back to their childhood years. Every now and then she had gotten Legend to give her piggy back rides, usually by jumping on him first and asking later. That was the same thing she had done just last term during their first trip to Hogsmeade village, right before everything had started to change between them. "Legend?" Breaking the silence, Katie's voice was oddly soft, less mumbled and almost guilty. He would stay with her while she waited to see the nurse.. "Thank you."
To be completely honest, Legend didn't want to be here. He didn't want to be looking at Katie. He didn't want to be talking to Katie. And he most definitely didn't want to he helping Katie. But it had to be done because....if he didn't do it no one else would.

The sixth year made a note in his head to stay away from the Room of Requirement, no matter how cool the hill was or how fresh the snow looked. He'd just have to practice when the snow actually fell on the ground outside.

He watched tentatively as the girl stood up. Yup. His spell had worked. Legend has such a way with his wand, it was amazing. Legend tensed up as Katie broke the silence between them. She SHOULD be thanking him. He did way more than she actually deserved from him. He was acting like a real friend even though, he didn't consider them that anymore. Legend shrugged his shoulders. “It’s the least I can do since I probably won’t be talking to you again...ever.” Without another word he turned around and bent down slightly. Katie had better jump on his back. Or he would leave, without a second glance.

*Feeling that he had had a long enough sit down Matty pulled himself up and went to the piano. Starting to play he mumbled a few lyrics. Until he started to play classical. He had missed playing. All summer spent in a tent on a snow covered mountain was not the place to start playing a piano or sing. He would of had to run laps or swim in the ice lake if he was caught singing. Unknown to him he left the room door wide open. Slowly he started singing a song he had stuck in his head.*

It was kind of scary to think in a single instant, anything could happen. In an instant, life could be great and wonderful and fun, everything you want it to be - and in another, it could completely crumble. That was kind of how Katie felt just then. In the smallest of moments, things could suddenly take a drastic turn in the other direction. Maybe not so drastic in this case, but it was close enough. Life wasn't unbelieveably amazing and Legend's hostile attitude toward her wasn't exactily new or unexpected, not surprising until he took it to that whole new level. A level Katie didn't understand, and didn't want to understand.

For a moment, she stood frozen on the ice, her hand immediately falling from his. Another scary thing Katie was beginning to learn the hard way, was that some types of emotional pain were far worse than any physical pain ever could be. The physical pain, logically, could typically be reversed. The emotional pain.. there was no cure for that, it took longer heal those wounds. And so, it was no surprise that through her clouded thoughts and mixed feelings, Katie's attention shifted from the pain in her ankle to other things. Focusing on the Gryffindor. Fighting back tears, because not only was she not the same 'crybaby' as she had once been, she was NOT going to cry in front of Legend Chosen ever, EVER again.

So.. that was it, was it? After so many arguements, so many, many fights throughout the past eleven years; the mean tricks he had pulled on her, the torture she had put him through, the years of friendship.. the good, the bad and the REALLY bad, this.. was it? The saddest part about it was that Katie still didn't know what she had done this time. What had caused the final breaking point for Legend to decide that their strained friendship (if it could even have been called that anymore, if it was ever that in the first place) was no longer worth fighting for. There were so many things she could say, so many questions she wanted to blurt out, mostily demands to know why he was being so cold now? Why now? Had he come to the conclusion he couldn't stay friends with her, because knowing how she felt made him uncomfortable? Was it because he had just finally gotten sick of their constant bickering? Had he found another girl to replace her, to look out for him and the other boys? Katie didn't know. And she surprising to even herself, she realized she didn't want to know the answer anymore. Whoever said the truth hurts, was right. Katie was stubborn, but she wasn't stupid enough to put herself through that pain too, if she could help it.

Maybe this was for the best.. maybe this had all been a long time coming, and they had just been fooling themselves to have thought otherwise. She should probably feel happy it hadn't happened sooner, but she wasn't.. had those fights back in fourth year broken them then, maybe it wouldn't have hurt as much as it did now. To not only have been rejected without trying to give him the opportunity to reject her, but to lose the person who had been by her side since the age of five or six.. the person she had grown up with, played with, faught with. The person she had relied on in the hardest of times, like when they were kids and Monique had been badly hurt, it had been Legend who comforted her.. when the first boy she ever liked acted like a jerk toward her, it was Legend who defended her.. he was always there; through the good and the bad.

She had never admitted it out loud before, and she never would now, but he was her best friend. Losing that hurt worse than liking him, and having him know that and tell her straightforward that he didn't return the feelings. She could have lived with that. She was. But this.. Katie turned, giving a small shake of her head. She felt numb. Except for the twinge of pain that burst from her ankle when she pressed down on that foot, shuffling carefully and slowly toward the snowy edge of the ice.

But Legend couldn't have seen the motion, he wasn't facing her. Realizing this, the Hufflepuff let out a little breath, arms crossed as she paused at the beginning of the snow. "You can go." Kaitlynnh spoke just above a whisper, all emotion drained from her voice. Before a single tear could escape her dark orbs, she closed her eyes, taking in the silence for a moment. Trying to soothe herself.

She would figure out how to get down to the Hospital Wing if she absolutely had to, but there was no way Legend Chosen was going to help her get there. She would wait for him to leave first.

Self-soothing wasn't working.

It had taken him too long to figure out a place where Jake couldn't find him, not that he was running away from him or anything, but since they needed to focus then he'd have to be in a Jake-free environment.

The only way to make it happen was stating that when both Hufflepuffs walked past the corridor three times. The seventh year wouldn't find him in here, and he'd be able to focus all he wanted for homework, and, actually, to take a break from everything. After all, the Room of Requirement only held happy memories.

He'd made sure Arya had the sticks with her, though, because he didn't know if the room will be providing magical ones, he couldn't ask for everything while in there anyway.

"Okay, I think we'll be able to focus now," he said, as he stepped inside and gestured for Arya to follow him.

She still wasn't sure why, out of all the places in the castle, they had to come all the way up to the towers just to do the Arithmancy homework. The castle had plenty of rooms on the kitchen level and the ground floor. Even out on the grounds or their common room would have worked. But he had chosen to take her here. She was bemused.

The young Hufflepuff didn't mind though, they could add whatever they wanted to the room, and wouldn't have to worry about any crazy students distracting them.

Arya had the sticks with her in her hand as they walked the three circles as per request of her best friend, stepping inside the room behind Treyen, head nodding in agreement.

"I think so as well," her eyes flicked around the room that was obviously designed for studying purposes, but also comfortable enough so they could relax at the same time.

Bag of sticks in her hand, she twirled on the spot, facing Treyen with a grin. "Shall we begin?"

Mmmhmmm. Yes, the Room of Requirement was perfect. He never explained to Arya his decision, but it was a good thing she didn't refuse to climb all the stairs. It was good exercise, by the way.

Shall they begin? Treyen turned to face Arya, "I should think so," but he needed his--oh, never mind, there was quill and parchment already there. See, he was starting to love this room. He still loved the Library, though, and the WHOLE Hospital Wing as long as the pretty Healer was included...eh, what were they doing now?

Arithmancy.

Yes, the boy sat down in front of Arya, "I--haven't taken Arithmancy since...ever," that was a good way to start, "And for some reason I failed to take notes during class," distractions, of course, "So, what exactly are we supposed to do?" he had no problems with questions and interpretations, he had issues with the method. Clearly.

Taking a seat in front of Treyen, her mouth formed into a small 'O'. Well, this was going to be interesting, wasn't it. "I...took it a last term?" Like...once or twice. "And I took plenty of notes in class, so no worries there. I just hope we do this right." Cause if not there was no one around to let them know.

What are they supposed to do?

Pulling her notebook out of her satchel, and opened it up to the most recent notes, eyes scanning it twice before looking back up at Treyen. "Okay...we're suppose to ask each other questions, then shake the numbered sticks and draw one and our partner interprets the result based upon the meanings and vibrations associated with the number." She had to glance back at her notes to finish describing the homework, but when she was done, she glanced back at Treyen.

"Not to hard, I don't think..." Goodness she hoped they did this right. "We can go back and forth with this. You ask me a question and interpret my sticks, and I'll do the same for you."

Oh. Brilliant. Perhaps...they should've chosen different partners for homework, then? They could both do well with two other people that had had more experience with Arithmancy.

Nonsense. If he'd managed not to get a death interpretation in Divination, then he could do this, for sure. If he couldn't...well, tough luck.

Haha. He knew he forgot something when he left the Common Room. And he knew exactly where it was...his Arithmancy textbook...it may be in fire by now, since it was so close to the fireplace...

...as long as the Common Room isn't on fire, then 'tis all good.

They're supposed to--what now?

"I...ask you a question?" he frowned, he'd rather have the tarot cards right...here...or not...the Room may give him what he wanted. "Or...I ask a question and then shake the sticks and whatever stick is chosen by fate is the one you interpret?" because if he was asking her a question, well, then, this was all too confusing and they were only starting.

And for the first time, Treyen had no idea what to ask the world about.

It took her a moment to look over her notes, and replaying his question in her mind before she was able to give a response. "The second one....defiantly the second one." She nodded her head slowly, eyes still on the journal. "Only I ask the questions and do the interpreting."

It had only just occurred to her that going back and forth would be terribly confusing for the both of them. "Maybe we should work on you first." Then do her. Yeeeeah.

Her eyes flicked back up to the fourteen year old. "That make sense?"

Okay. Okay. Good. He was...understanding. That was always a great sign. Always.

Him first? That was hardly fair. Ladies always came first.

But he wasn't precisely going to argue, perhaps it'll help him understand more? Hopefully. Then again, if they were working on him first, it meant that Arya was asking the questions first. Therefore, ladies first. Yeah, he was cool with that.

He nodded all the way, and then leaned into a cushion, a very comfortable one, "Total sense," so far. "Ask away."

Either Arya had completely forgotten about the ladies first rule, or she was too busy to think about it while trying to figure out how the whole homework assignment thing worked.

She certainly didn't forget that her friend was SUCH a gentleman though, which was probably why he was letting her run this. That, or cause she had the notes.

"Okay," Question question question... She had no idea what kind of questions to ask. "Um...Will you be going somewhere awesome for Christmas break?" Good question, right? Right.

Mmmmhmmm. He was actually curious as to what Arya will be asking, but then he noticed something...the sticks! The sticks! The sticks were gone!

His eyes widened ever so slightly at the sight of no sticks next to Arya and all he could think about was the long climb down and then up again from the Arithmancy classroom, not to mention he'd have to explain to Hadley about the missing sticks. Yeah, that was the worse.

And then...

...sigh.

The sticks were not gone, Arya had them, and she'd shaken them while she asked the quest--Christmas? He highly doubted it, after all, he was planning on staying at Hogwarts this time around.

Nevertheless, he closed his eyes and draw one out. This felt...childish, truth be told. Once he took hold of one of the sticks, he opened one eye and looked at the number.

"Five?" he said, opening the other eye, "What does five mean?" he knows of tea leaves and dreams, not numbers, mind you.

Arya hadn't noticed Treyen searching for the sticks that were in her hands. SHE was curious as to what number he would pick, excited almost.

Watching him as he drew out a stick, she placed a bag on the table and pulled her text book in front of her when he read her the number. "Five means..." She flipped a few pages around, frowning as she tried to interpret the meaning of the number. "Change and transition and freedom."

Frown gone, but brow still furrowed together, she looked up at Treyen. "So I guess this Christmas will be one full of change, and a transition to freedom." Yeah, she had nooo idea if that was right or not.

This was ridiculous, honestly, how could a stick say much more than one's own dream. He was sticking to Arithmancy, though, Hadley didn't have to worry for losing a student, but the reasons for doing so had nothing to do with the subject in the first place.

But now Arya was going through her textbook. Man, if his textbook had caught fire in the Common Room, then...well, he's sit with Arya until the new one arrived, or ask Hadley for one. His eyes were on the stick as she started to speak. The stick was dropped, as soon as he heard what she had to say, "Say what now?" he was frowning. There was no way that Arya knew about his plans for the holidays, because he hadn't even informed his family yet.

Freaked. Yes, he was. "What? Let me see the book," he said, as he took it from her hands. So much for being a gentleman, no? He read and reread the meaning. It's not that he thought Arya was lying, but she could've read some other number, no?

Huh. She'd been right. And this Christmas was going to be a different one.

A smile.

"Do it again, do it again," he said, as he placed the stick with the others again, and then gave her back the book.

This didn't seem too ridiculous now.

Eyes flicking up from the book, she let them go from the stick to her friend. Was she wrong? Frowning usually meant she was wrong, but maybe it meant something else since they were both no good at this.

Well, she supposed that was as close to his being a gentleman as she was going to get with asking for her book. Though her she was more worried about her interpretation than his manners. The young girl chewed on her bottom lip nervously as she watched him, a smile breaking across her face when he smiled.

He was smiling.

Good.

That had to mean she was doing this right.

Taking the book and sticks back, grinning at his excitement, she thought up another question.

"Will this semester be a good one for you?"

If he'd thought of it as ridiculous, then why did he want to give it another go? Because it was MAGIC! Simply magic. Pretty obvious, though, he was a wizard. However, he may have wanted to test this out, as if the number had been a mere coincidence or there was something hidden behind those sticks.

And...here we go again.

He couldn't help but chuckle at her question, so far THIS year had been a complete disaster! Arya wasn't precisely aware of that, they still needed to talk. "Sorry," he said, concentration could be lost with a laughter, and he didn't want that to happen.

This time, he didn't bother on closing his eyes, he just looked away and took another stick...with a number 11 on it. "Eleven," he said, almost glancing at the textbook. Almost. "What...does eleven mean?" we wouldn't lie, he was amazed with this method...but...coincidences, they happen.

A bemused half-grin crossed her face when Treyen gave another weird reaction to her. Hopefully, he found this as amusing as she did. She just shook her head at his laughter, eyes going to the bag of sticks.

"Eleven," she repeated, eyes jumping to the book as she started to scan it for the chosen number. Hm. Interesting. "Eleven is the spiritual messenger, which means you'll want to uplift others, and help them reach their true potential." She grinned up at him. "I guess that means you'll be a really good friend this term." Not that he wasn't before.

Will he be having a good semester? Yeah, let's see what number eleven had to said.

This was all too accurate to be amusing, no?

And then his eyes were on Arya, not the book, he already knew she was doing good with the textbook. Spiritual messenger?! What on earth is that supposed to mean? Yes, the boy frowned. And then...he blinked. Uplift? Like...making people happy...Ellie happy...even if that meant for him to be not-as-happy? Like...helping people? Well, he'd always sort of done so...

He smirked, though, "I'm always a good friend, Arya," he said, in a low voice, "Am I not?" she didn't have to answer that. But still, the sticks were being so accurate, that...he was starting to like this.

"I'll do you now," yup, a nod, "Let me have the sticks," he didn't just take them like he'd done with the textbook earlier on. Treyen took them quite slowly this time around. "You should probably write this stuff down, by the way," and he eyed the parchment and quills next to them. This was homework, after all, and his memory was fine, but he couldn't possibly remember all this stuff.

Let's see...ooooh, he actually had a pretty good question, "Will you be involved in Aaron's rising to Ruler of the world?" THAT was an awesome question...wasn't it? He shook the sticks way too eagerly and...one of them fell in front of her...
