He was giving her an odd look! Why was he giving her an odd look?! Oh wait, it was because it was the first time she ever successfully made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She shook her head slowly. "Uhm... no... a sandwich in general..." Selena said slowly, just in case he couldn't hear her or something. "I don't know... the peanut butter just goes missing or the jelly... and sometimes the bread too... and like... they fly out and stuff when I throw them... and yeah..." Selena rambled. See. Perfect excuses. Selena narrowed her eyes at him. "No. You should make me one," Selena huffed. Pffft. He was older after all!!! "You can eat the owl treats!" Selena offered, holding up the baggie still filled with the owl treats that belonged to the owl that TallPerson did not possess. Selena listened and nodded. "WAIT! Isn't Sophie the one with the other guy though?!" Selena exclaimed. She was pretty sure of it! He was seriously starting to confuse her now. "Oh. So you like Bonnie too? She has a pretty name. Anyways, does Bonnie like flowers? Are you allergic to them?" Selena asked. Because then, y'know, two birds with one stone and all. Selena shrugged. "Think about Sophie... then think about Bonnie... and that other guy," Selena said shrugging. too much drama too. Selena's eyes brightened and she clapped. "YAYYY!!!" Selena exclaimed. "I would hug you but I'm allergic to tall people," she reminded him. "Neglect to take care of their child," Selena said simply. When was the last time her father replied to an owl... oh wait. FIRST YEAR. And her mother just owl'ed her too make sure she was being "proper". Ugh. Selena blushed slightly. "His name is Dillon! And he's sweet," she said, sticking her tongue out at him. And they were going to be together like... forever. It was decided. |
Mel Ivan walked over to the Room of Requirement not having to go very far since he had been in the common room. Looking around he didn't spot Mia so leaned against the wall to wait for her. He wasn't sure what was going on anymore. Was he dating TJ? Why did he agree to that he didn't want a serious relationship. Though she didn't exactly know the difference so maybe it would work out. And then there was Mia who was dating another guy and who was a great friend that he liked to mess with. Hmmm. |
Quote:
Why did she agree to the RoR? Especially when it was on the seventh floor and her common room was in the kitchen level. Walking up all those stairs did nothing to improve her mood at all. She wanted to go home. Her second home. In Russia. Stepping onto the seventh floor landing, Mia spotted Ivan halfway down and she made her way towards him doing her best not to drag her feet as she walked. She was here because he was going to cheer her up. Hopefully. "Hey." She said coming up beside him and giving him a hug. "You really don't have to do this if you don't want to." She was already feeling a little better just having her friend around. |
Quote:
He turned toward the wall and after walking back and forth thinking hard a door appeared and he grinned. He remembered how to do it. Well it wasn't every day he got something right. Grabbing Mia's hand he pulled her into the room and looked around. At least it wasn't his father's office again. Merlin knew Mia didn't need to deal with a mopey Ivan. Nope instead it was actually one of Miles' sitting rooms. Heh. Stupid twerp. Dropping into a chair he looked at Mia, "So what's wrong?" |
Quote:
Once the door was up, she allowed Ivan to take her hand to pull her inside and her eyebrows raised as she took in their surroundings. This was supposed to make her happy? Sitting down on a chair opposite him, she curled her legs underneath her and heaved a deep sigh. "I miss Nik." She said simply as she looked at Ivan and her bottom lip might have quivered a little. There were other things as well but being away from Nik for so long was taking its toll. She should have gone to see him during the Easter holidays. |
Quote:
He hated that she was upset. It made him sad and want to hug her or hold her but that might not be a great idea. Though when he saw her lip quiver he got up and walked over to her. Sitting on the arm of the chair he held her tightly. "Well, I'm sure he misses you too." Sadly. Usually he'd flirt with her to make her feel better but somehow he didn't think that would go over real well. |
Quote:
Now she felt bad. He was doing his best to help her and she was not being appreciative at all. "It's a great room. Really. I wish I had one like it." She said truthfully. And she did because she was over having to live in a tent. Mia wished he hadn't done that. She was just barely holding her emotions in check but the moment he hugged her again, she felt a couple of tears slip down her face. "I know." She sniffled. "It's been almost six months since I seen him last and I have to watch all the other happy couples. And then I've got people coming to me for advice about their own love lives. Not to mention that some people don't like me for all the wrong reasons and I feel as though my friends are slipping away." Yeah that about summed it all up. |
Quote:
When he saw tears fall his heart clenched at the sight. He wished he could help her. He slid off the arm of the chair and kneeled down in front of her. Raising an arm he raised her chin to make her look at him, his thumb wiping a tear from her face. "Well I like you. You're my favourite person." He looked at her and swallowed, "I...um...your dance. That's right." |
Quote:
Well that did make her laugh more to cover up the shock of him actually considering conjuring up his bedroom. "Yeah you're right there." Yes this room would do just nicely thank you very much. Looking into Ivan's eyes only made Mia want to cry more. He was such a good friend to her. She gave him a watery smile when he told her that she was his favourite person, not thinking anymore about it. Mia was about to tell him that he didn't have to do anything but the mere thought of Ivan, Mr Cool Himself would actually do a dance to cheer her up, well this she had to see. "Do you need music?" She asked a little twinkle appearing in her eyes through her tears. |
Quote:
"I'll do the chicken dance if you promise me a real dance," he gave her a smirk and crossed his arms the very picture of determination. "And yes I'll need music. How..." he looked around with a puzzled expression before looking back at her. |
Quote:
A real dance? "I'm not sure I even know how to do a real dance." Was it like one of those waltz things? Eh maybe he could teach her and then when it came to dancing with Nik, she would know how to do it properly. "But okay." At the look on his face, Mia let out a small giggle. "I'll hum the tune for you. But no slacking off now Ivan. You promised me a chicken dance." Hehe. |
Quote:
As the music started playing he took off his jacket and threw it into the chair. "Alright let's see if I remember how to do this." Facing Mia he started doing the dance, albeit not really very well since his forte was in waltz and stuff. He was sure he looked funny but he'd do anything to make her happy again. |
Quote:
Right. Of course he'd had lessons which meant he was probably a professional at dancing. And she had two left feet. Mia was starting to regret agreeing to dancing with him now. She was going to look like a total tosser. When the radio appeared, Mia stuck her tongue out at him. Obviously her humming wasn't going to be good enough. Although once the jacket came off, she had to cover her mouth with her hands and her eyes widened as he began to dance. She managed all of fifteen seconds before she burst out laughing at his awful attempt at doing the dance. Another minute of hysterical giggles and Mia held up her hands. "Stop." She gasped out, still giggling a little. "Oh Ivan that was awful. But totally hilarious." Like really, really hilarious. Her sides were aching from laughing so much. |
Quote:
"Now, how about some real dancing," he said as the music changed and he held out his hand to her. "Come on, I'll lead it's easy." Though he really shouldn't but when did he ever do what he should do. "Please," he said pouting slightly though he couldn't quite keep the smirk off his face. |
Quote:
It was a horrible dance made even worse by Ivan's attempt at it but she didn't say that out loud. She didn't want to hurt his feelings especially after since he had done it to make her happy. And she did feel better. A whole lot lighter in fact. But then he was holding his hand out to her and Mia felt herself hesitate. She was nervous about this whole dancing thing but of course he had to give her a pout and she groaned inwardly. With a deep breath, she took hold of his hand and rose to her feet. "Don't say I didn't warn you." She said while she stood there awkwardly. |
Quote:
Finally she took his hand and he smiled, "Duly noted." Though he wasn't really worried about her dancing skills. Wrapping one arm around back he brought her hand to his shoulder and held her other hand out in the way he'd been taught. "Just follow me," and slowly he started leading her in a waltz around the room. A smile was on his face the entire time as he spun her around and caught her again then dipped her. "My mum made me take dance classes. Said I had to learn and represent my family like a gentleman to fit my title, or something like that." Spinning her again he caught her the closeness between them getting to him. He looked at her and without thinking leaned in and kissed her. |
Quote:
Oh my. They were kinda close. She could actually smell the spicy scent of his cologne as she stood in his arms. And it made her slightly uncomfortable but before she could do or say anything, Ivan began to move and she tried her best to keep up with him. The spinning was making her rather dizzy and she had to blink a couple of times when he dipped her to focus. Only when she was able to focus properly, Ivan's face was quite close to hers. She swallowed hard and stammered a little. "You...um...you have a title?" And then he was spinning her again and Mia decided she was going to have to tell him to stop because she couldn't take the dizziness any longer. But fortunately he did finally stop and then did something she was quite unprepeared for. He was kissing her!!! It took her a couple of seconds to get over the shock of what he was doing before she pushed him away with her hands and she took a few steps back almost falling over the chair that was behind her. "Ivan! What the hell?" |
Quote:
Seriously what had be been thinking?! She had a boyfriend for Merlin's sake and he knew it. Grabbing his jacket off the chair he slid it on. Had this really been worth their friendship? Rubbing the back of his neck he looked at her, "I didn't mean to.... I'm sorry." He sighed and headed toward the door. Way. To. Go. Genius. |
Quote:
Why did this keep happening to her? Mia watched Ivan as though she had never actually seen him before. She was in total shock as to what had just happened. She took a few deep breaths as she ran her hand through her hair, still watching Ivan as he tried to make a getaway. She gave herself a shake and narrowed her eyes. "Stop right there!" Her tone was rather demanding and very no nonsense. This time she wanted answers. Mia wanted to KNOW how she kept getting herself in these predicaments. "Come here and talk to me." |
Quote:
"Talk about what Mia? I shouldn't have done it and I'm sorry." If she wanted to yell at him he wasn't in the mood for it. "I like you and I don't know when or how but it went from you being like my sister to...I don't even know. And I know you have a boyfriend and I wish I'd met you before and..." He was babbling now as he walked over to the chair he had been in and sat down. "I'm sorry." |
Quote:
Well that was obvious. She was pretty sure that Ivan didn't go around kissing girls he didn't like. Mia watched him walk back and take a seat and she felt herself sink into the chair opposite him. Her legs wouldn't hold her up any longer. She leaned forward and placed her face in her hands, her hair falling around her shoulders like a curtain. "Please stop saying you're sorry." She knew that he regretted what he did, so she didn't need to keep hearing it. After a long moment of silence, Mia brushed her hair back and looked at Ivan. "Tell me something Ivan. What am I doing? Because you're not the first guy to tell me that they like me. Am I sending you signals that I shouldn't be?" Because she really needed to know. |
Quote:
Looking up at her he frowned not because of what she asked actually but because other guys telling her the same thing. He wasn't even original. Faaaaantastic. He dropped his head into his hands and rubbed the back of his neck, "No. You get me. I'm happy when I'm with you. You call me on my stuff. I'm just.... I'm not sure. Everything I should feel for someone else," like TJ. Ugh. "I have come to feel for you." And he really didn't know when that had changed. And he reaaaaaally didn't want to be doing this third degree right now. He felt like going to hide in his dorm and come out like...never. Staring at the floor at his feet he sighed. He had come here to make her happy and he had succeeded until he ruined it that was. Maybe his uncle was right and he was just a failure. |
Quote:
There was just nothing she could say to that. She couldn't tell him that he had to stop because Mia knew that you just can't shut off your feelings like that. Okay she would have rather he talked to her instead of kissing her. Even though she hadn't asked for it, she hadn't even expected Ivan to kiss her, she felt like she had betrayed Nik somehow and she felt quite sick about it. Rubbing her hands over her face, Mia heaved a deep sigh. "You're still my friend Ivan. But I think we need to give each other a little space right now." She wished it didn't have to be like that but there was no way that things weren't going to be awkward between them now. |
Quote:
What else could he say to that? He had stepped over the line and now he had to deal with it. MI don't regret it. Just so you know. I only regret your reaction." Which by her expression looked like she wanted to be sick, "and the fact I didn't get sent here last year." Grabbing the handle of the door he threw it open and slammed it closed behind him. He was an idiot just like everyone called him. Leaning against the door for a moment he sighed. This was his fault. He made the bed so he better lie in it just like his mum always told him. He pushed off the door and walked swiftly down the hall to his common room. Back to his old routine it seemed. No way did he want to see anyone even TJ right now. |
Quote:
She wasn't looking at him but Mia could hear the anger in his voice and she flinched as her hands dropped to her lap and she clasped them together. When he spoke again, she pressed her lips together to keep them from wibbling and breathed through her nose to stop the tears from falling. His words felt like a slap in the face and she wanted to protest but she knew that if she opened her mouth, if she was to even look at him, she was going to start crying for real and Mia was not letting him see her like that. The sound of the door slamming caused Mia to jump and she finally removed her gaze from the spot on the floor that she had been staring at and turned to look at the door that Ivan had just exited. The tears she had been holding back spilled from her eyes, they felt hot against her cheeks and she hastily wiped them away with her hand. Never before had she felt so alone. And never before had she wanted her mother so much. |
