"Thats brilliant, I love swimming." Skyler smiled, she loved swimming her self. "I moved to London when I was seven, my parents had jobs in America when I was born so...yeah I'm an American-Brit, as you could say." She chuckled and gave a quick smile. "That seems like alot of fun, the races that is." She smiled.

Taking another bite of her sandwhich she smiled softly to herself.

"Theres a lot of things I'm pretty sure destiny doesn't take into account. I mean, can you really say that destiny sees anything? Its not an... intellectual thing after all, and I'm pretty sure that destiny isn't even on my side when it comes down to it." Jim wolfed down a sandwich. Why were they talking about all this again?

He looked over at Mia and raised his brows. A subject change? Well. Good. Ish.

"I never said that." True. It was just that he liked Marie and was trying to, you know, be good.

In some ways to prove it to himself, and in some ways -Jim glanced along the table and then pretended he hadn't- to prove it to others.

Ivan smiled as Neptune moved closer, probably glad he'd changed the topic even if it was such a lame change. He caught sight of James coming in and looked back at Neptune. "How to throw a rock?" What? Now that was weird. "You just pick it up and throw it..." How hard was that? Not.

He grabbed another roll and tore at it. His eyes going to James and seeing Mia with him now. He smirked slightly, she really was a nice girl. Leaning on the table he tried to listen though could only catch pieces of their conversation and even to him it seemed like they were talking about two different things. "Are you getting that?" he whispered to Neptune with a nod toward the other two. Or maybe he was just crazy and he was the one thinking different things.

"Mr. Chosen was teaching me in exchange for gentleman lessons." Something. Neptune was SO distracted. She tried to apologize with LOOKS to Ivan. Sorry.

Oh! So now Destiny was blind and dumb. Geez, she would hate to hear what he had to say about her when she wasn't around.

Mia just stared at Jimmy, how could he just sit there and talking about this with such nonchalance. Did he not realise that he had just broken Marie's heart, to run off with one of her best friends who he couldn't seem to give a toss about either way. "If Destiny, is not on your side then why are you bothering?"

So he didn't want to settle down at all.

Mia stole a quick glance to where he was looking and she spotted Ivan and Neptune. She gave them both a quick smile before turning back to Jimmy. "Well what did you say then? Because Marie is my friend, James and she told me you two are/were exclusive."

Ivan laughed and glanced at James. Gosh why didn't anyone listen to him? No one focused that hard on anything unless they had a personal reason to. "I was saaaaaaying, how can he teach you to throw a rock. It's not real difficult."

He could tell she wasn't all there and he worked on tearing his roll into tiny pieces for no real reason. "Gentleman lessons?" Pffffft. Ivan could teach him that he was forced to go through enough of those. "Poor guy." He glanced at the two again and then back to Neptune as he saw her give him a look of...apology? "Should we move closer?" he said with a chuckle.

"Because its life? Because you might as well just have fun? I don't see what destiny has to do with enjoying life." Jimmy pretty much had no clue that the wavelength he was on was not the same as what Mia was on.

".... What did I say about what? What?" Jim paused in the act of bringing a chicken drumstick to his mouth and stared at Mia. "Are/were?"

He frowned slightly. Was Marie... getting Mia to come and break up with him for her? Was that what this talk about fate and destiny was supposed to be leading into?

"Closer?" Okay. Neptune scooted RIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT over next to Ivan. Not quite back into his lap like before, but... well. Close. She moved closer without thinking. Maybe they should just leave altogether?

"My, my, manipulative Neptune," smirking he glanced at James just in time to hear what Mia said and his eyes widened. Waitttttttt....were they splitting up? Well that would be an interesting little twist to this. He eyed Mia with a questionable look wondering exactly what was going on there.

It was then that his attention was caught again by Neptune as she slid over flush against him and he raised an eyebrow at her. Oh he could have some fun with James about this but somehow he didn't think James would find it all that funny. "If you moved any closer you would be sitting on my lap. Unless you just want that," he said quietly with a smirk. Alright so he did enjoy teasing her.

Or something. Neptune flashed a grin to Ivan.

" I forgot to tell you that we do a lot of swimming in Texas, too" Rex told Skyler. "Well, quiet towns are good, too" Rex said to Skyler. " Does it snow up in Vermont?" Rex asked Skyler.

" Yes, Texas is fun" Rex told Rowan. " Thanks for calling me a terrific swimmer, I am probably good, but not terrific" Rex said to Rowan. " You are the best swiimmer in HogWarts bar none." Rex explained to Rowan.

Ivan grinned and looked at Neptune. Distracted. Obviously. He picked up his glass of juice and took a sip flicking another glance at James. Hmmm.

"Trouble how? Who are you going to tell?" He raised an eyebrow and saw the grin on her face. Girls. "Besides if you don't like James then why would you not want to sit on my lap," okay now he was messing with her but she was a lot of fun. He smirked and leaned into her slightly with a chuckle. "You're a lot of fun."

"Yes, all the time in the winter." Skyler chuckled being utterly honest. "I lived on a mountain so we got even more snow than what you would think you would get really." She chuckled. She smiled running her hand through her hair, "We are considered the state for skiiing and maple syrup!"

If she was any sort of violent person, Mia would smack that drumstick out of his hand and hit him over the head with it.

Was he not listening to her?

"Well you seem to be enjoying life and Destiny at the same time." Her gaze once again flicked over to Ivan and she caught his questioning gaze and Mia could only shrug her shoulders. She had no idea what was going on either.

Turning back to Jimmy, Mia caught the last couple of words he spoke. "So it's truuuue. Oh James, how could you?"

"I don't think its possible for anyone to enjoy destiny. But you've gotta make the most of the opportunities that are presented to you, right?" Right. Om nom nom chikenz.

He glaaaaanced -just a glance- over at Ivan and Neptune and noting the proximity, the glance turned into a particularly fearsome glare at Ivan, and James clenched his teeth, and under the table, his fists.

He didn't miss Mia's question but since he had no idea what he'd apparently done, and his teeth were far too clenched to squeeze out an answer, he remained silent.

And glaring.

At Ivan.

Ivan saw Neptune's eyes grow wide again and he started laughing. Oh she was freaking hilarious! Feeling her mouth go back over his mouth he looked toward James and Mia then back at her. "Mm Mmm mmmm mmm,' he mumbled through her hand.

He pulled at her hand and frowned. And she thought him making jokes looked bad. Didn't she realize this might make James ask questions? Obviously not. At least with his jokes James would know he was just being himself since he wouldn't hit on Neptune ever with any intent.

...and immediately dropped her hand from Ivan's mouth after being on the receiving end of THAT look. "Sorry." To... both of them? She flushed and turned straight on the bench. Maybe dinnertime was over.

Ivan raised an eyebrow at Neptune as she kept one hand over his mouth and crossed his arms. Seriously...first she didn't want him talking about how she did like James and now she didn't want him talking about how she didn't like him. Which was it?

Looking up at James he saw his best friend glaring at him. Wow...and he thought he was the only one to get possessive about a girl. Apparently not. But at least it ended up with Neptune freeing his mouth. Stretching his mouth a bit over the top he shrugged though the spit on his robes was NOT cool and left him frowning. Looking at James who still look like he was about to blow he took a sip of his drink.

"I think James has something to say," he said quietly to Neptune with a smirk. "Deep breath there buddy. Don't want you to pass out." Seriously he knew better than to think he was hitting on Neptune. Boy needed to reeeeeeeeeeeeelax.

Mia looked at James' face and leaned away from him slightly. Okay she knew that this conversation was really weird but he didn't need to get all upset about it.

She realised that he wasn't looking at her but at Ivan. Mia followed his gaze and she couldn't see what the problem was. Ivan and Neptune looked as though they were getting a little cozy together. So what?

She turned back to face Jimmy and a little light went off in her head. "James, just leave it, will you? Is this the real reason why you broke up with Marie? And Destiny? She was just a fill in, was she?"

Gah! Why did she try and get involved in this?

"What?" Jim turned back to Mia and gave her a completely ridiculous, so-not-following, adorable-helpless-doofus look.

"Leave it... leave... what? Broke up with Marie? Fill in?" STARE.

"I didn't.... break up with Marie." First of all. Second of all, fill what in?

What was with this boy today?

The looks he was giving her were starting to unnerve her.

Mia stared back at him. "Wait! You didn't break up with Marie to be with her friend Destiny?"

Then why did Marie say...

Actually what did Marie say? Mia couldn't remember.

"Then why did you say that Destiny was just for fun and that you were enjoying time with her?" Er...is that what he had said? Mia groaned, she wasn't sure what had been said now. The whole conversation had been bizarre.

"And stop looking at Ivan like you want to kill him or something. He's supposed to be your friend."

Bad to worse. Neptune felt SO out of place suddenly.

"I have to go." ...."Nice meeting you properly and all, Ivan."


Neptune tucked her curls behind her ears and eased off the bench. She didn't look at ANYONE as she passed by and made for the Great Hall doors.

"With.... d... no!" James looked horrified. "Is that what you... I thought you were talking about FATE!" Which was horrible ENOUGH and he'd only gone along with it cos it was Mia and he liked her and had fond snogging memories and all.

"I haven't broken up with Marie at all. She hasn't talked to me for a few days."

As for Ivan...

"He is... he's my best friend." Aside from Finn.

Jim looked a bit sick for a moment as Neptune stood up and left and just sort of stared after her until she was gone. This Destiny/destiny/Marie/supposed break up thing temporarily forgotten.

Ivan looked up with his mouth open about to protest and then looked at James. "Smooth move genius." Ruining all his fun. He picked up a roll and threw it at his best friend with a grin before moving down to sit with them.

"You scared her with that glare. Couldn't just have played nice," he said pouring himself another drink and grinning at Mia. Seriously his best friend should know him better though...he was sure if it had been reverse Ivan might have been slightly irritated. Maybe not glare worthy though.
