Selina smiled at this Alice character. She was not sure what her father meant when he said be weary of Alice's, they tend to fall down rabbit holes. This girl sounded perfectly sane enough to avoid any rabbit holes. Of course it was a muggle expression that she never quite understood anyway.

"Nice to meet you Alice. So are you a first year?" Although not the most thought provoking question Selina was curious if she would be spending much time with this girl in classes.

Elyon laughed. She didn't want to scare Winston, but she figured she might as well tell him anyway. "Well.... last year she made all of my friend's bones disappear, and she's supposed to be mean..... So, I hope you do well in that class, because I'll be studying extra hard for that."

Elyon frowned. Poor Winston. He didn't know the beauty of nature, but it was alright, if he didn't like it, that was his choice. "Awww, I love all animals, they're beautiful in they're natural ways. But that's fine, they can get awfully stinky." She giggled.

"I guess I'm just excited about it because I'm muggleborn, and that's always the things I was tought witches practiced, so I guess I'm just excited to prove my mum wrong, she doesn't really approve of magic." That was an understatement, but she wasn't going to get into that right now.

"Hmm." Dahlia thought for a moment before replying.

"I don't think it hurts them. I mean people can transform themselves and it doesn't seem to hurt, so I imagine it wouldn't hurt the animals very much. Although I think I'd be rather upset if I were changed into something that wasn't alive."

She giggled as a thought hit her. "And I really don't think I could drink out of a goblet that used to be a mouse."

"I really just want to learn to be an Animagi. My aunt's one, it's the coolest thing ever, unless she caught be doing something I wasn't supposed to."

She looked at Willow, who had reamined silent throughout the conversation. "What do you think?"

Okay, really, Charisa hadn't even tried closing her eyes yet. Yeah, she was aware that someone was staring at her.

She lifted her head up and folded her arms across her chest, watching the boy who couldn't have been too much older than herself with one eyebrow raised. He was soon straightening up his posture, which left Charisa with one crucial question: What? O_o

"Staring's impolite," she said matter-of-factly.

Emily smiled "It's in Canada." Emily said plainly. She loved her country and all but to her, quite honestly, it was normal and everyday. "It's in the middle of a forest in New Brunswick, there is a field there where all the caravans are set up, they used to move with the season but quite honestly Canada is crazy weather and they found they liked it so well they decided to stay put and make themselves a village. This was when my mother was young mind you so i have only known it to be in one spot, though until my third year I had not spent much time there. But now it has been my home for two years." Emily explained.

"Also, I'm sorry I misunderstood, I am not a tranfer student either."

Emily heard a familiar Texan accent and turned to see Rex gracing their table with his presence. "Rex dear!" She said, living in the Gypsy village had led her to using the words 'dear' and 'darling' to even the most distant of friends, she hoped nobody would be confused. "How are you darling, long time no see!"

Winston gulped. Why would someone do that? No, he didn't actually want to know why. He would just be perfect. Yes. That way he could impress people and keep his bones.

"Your mum doesn't approve of magic?" Winston blinked. While his stepmother didn't use magic, and his aunt even avoided using it, nobody ever said a bad word about magic in his house. It was as much as part of their family as his cat was. "That's different. But I guess you'll like transfiguration, then."

Winston raised his left eyebrow at the girl. She was telling him what was impolite? The nerve of her! He would show her how to be polite. He was the politest in his family, and the Clarkes were quite the polite family, among Muggles and wizards alike.

"Eating that fast is no more polite than staring," Winston said just as matter-of-factly. "And you really shouldn't put your elbow on the table, either. You might get food on your sleeve."

"Yes I'm a first year, are you?" Alice thought they looked about the same age but it was best to ask to avoid causing offence.

"An Animagi really?" Alice was surprised but a little excited by this comment, she had read a little about Animagi and it sounded brilliant. "What does she transform into? I don't suppose you get to choose do you?" Alice didn’t want to ask too many questions but she found the idea of it all just Fascinating.

In perfect uniform aside from the fact that he was wearing shades as an accessory, his shirt was untucked and half-buttoned, his tie was loose and he was wearing sneakers, Jimmy took his sweet time of course, but from what he could tell the speech hadn't happened yet, even if he'd missed the sorting.

He hardly wanted to watch that stupid hat missort other kids after all.

He made his entrance, sauntering up the aisle, expression nonchalant, and found a spot at the Ravenclaw table, looking around expectantly. Where the hell was the food? Growing boy here!

"She changes into a rabbit, brown with white spots over the leg," she said eagerly.

"I don't know too much about it, she wouldn't say really. i think she thought I'd try to do it myself and make a mess of things. As if. I hear it's really hard and can go terribly wrong."

That momentarily took the wind out of her sails. "Well....I guess it won't learn how anytime soon. but it's great to dream, right?"

"Yeah," Selina answered, "I am. Gryffindor first year, obviously. The robes give it away. Um, yeah. So sorry about interrupting your conversation. I guess I am really into the mistreatment of creatures. Speaking of I was wondering where do you stand on the House Elf treatment?"

She knew they had just met, but someone else agreed with her views on creature cruelity. Alice was probably the only one. And any chance to talk Selina took.

Rene walked over to the next table. She had made a very good friend at the Gryffindor table and was sure that she would find one at the Ravenclaw table. She walked over to students that look like a sea of blue with thier blue robes. She looked for person to person hoping one would invite her over to have a intresting converstation.

After a few minutes she decided to just have a seat and see if she could talk her way into a group without being rude. "Hello, Im Rene" she said giving a friendly smile

Blink. He'd been convincing. Charisa glanced from her left elbow to her right and then back at the boy. "How old are you?" she asked. "Anyone ever told you you'd make one heckuva prefect?" Well, hey. Five respect points, even if he was a stiff.

Charisa turned to eye her near empty plate. Hm, potatoes? She looked back up at the boy and fought the urge to dip her elbow into the leftover food. That would be simply childish, no?

Alice nodded enthusiastically as she answered, "Oh defiantly! And I imagine becoming an Animagi is worth the work, it would be a very interesting power to have. But no i wouldn’t try it by yourself, I’ve seen some pretty bad things happen to people who didn’t know magic very well, it isn’t pretty"

Alice thought for a few moments, where did she stand on House elf treatment? "Well, that is a tricky one. They really do seem happy to do the work, most of the time if there masters set them free they go a bit… Odd because they have nothing to do anymore. But i do think it’s wrong that people treat them so poorly, if they want to do the work that would be fine but they should be paid like any other housekeeper"

The heavens had opened and the chorus began to sing. That was exactly how Selina felt on the matter. With the addition of the fact that they should no longer be enslaved at all. But she would take that girl's answer. Most other wizards were still adamant about the hierarchical system of the Wizarding World, but Selina believed it was time to progress.

"Me too. Wow." She did not want to throw the girl off with her excitement so she moved on to another topic, "So because we are both first years, are you excited for any classes?"

"Oh yes! I'm really looking forward to Charms, and care of magical creatures... oh and herbology!...i think maybe muggle studies as well" Alice laughed as she thought how long this list could go on for "Basically the only lesson I’m not looking forward to so much is potions, i have heard people say the teacher is a bit erm...well a bit strict and...I’m pretty sure i overheard someone refer to her as the dragon lady.

Selina laughed at the "dragon lady" comment. She knew exactly who called her the "dragon lady" and the incident that brought about the nickname, "Oh Kurumi, a second year in my house, says that. There was a mishap in the Potions and now the teacher was bestowed that lovely title. Although I hav to agree with you. I am looking forward to everything minus Potions."

The immediate company was... not Neptune's preferred sort. So, after leaning around to get a GOOD look at the new security fellow (whom she marked as FRIEND), Neptune got up and went to sit at another table. Any other table. Maybe Duncan was around?

Dozer sauntered over to the Ravenclaw table a small smile plastered in place. Taking a seat he poured himself a glass of water. One pass over the crowd told him that no one he knew was in sight. Just his luck. Ethan probably went to his room early and left him alone. Again. Sighing he sat back to watch the festivities.

"Well the name seems to be catching on because i heard some boy from Gryffindor calling her that" Alice giggled and then continued "I have met Kurumi a few times, she is lovely. Really likes feeding people cookies though, I think we shall all be the size of a house by sixth year...erm what sort of mishap?"

"Oh she lost all of her bones," Selina answered simply.

"And yeah, that boy you heard talking was Adam Burn. He was talking to me."

Looking at Alice Selina cautiously asked, "So what type of blood are you?" Selina was not racist by any means. Although she was a Mixed Blood she believed in magical equality, she was a regular hippie. But she was simply nosy.

Alice was a little taken back; she had lost all her bones! And Selina had said it as if it was a normal occurrence? Perhaps it was at Hogwarts. And now to answer the strangest question she had ever been asked, although again she supposed it was normal in the wizard world. "Oh I'm half blood. My mum is a witch and my dad is a muggle".

"I wonder who that strange man sitting next to Headmaster Tate is," the Grey Lady said to no one in particular and watched as the newcomer stood up.

'WOW' thought Audrey as she saw the Grey Lady floating around. She remembered reading somewhere that the Grey Lady was Ravenclaw's founder's daughter.

Ellie nodded while he explained. She was relieved that everyone had to re-tryout for positions. "Sounds great. I'll be looking for your posts at the notice board then." She said with a smile. Booooy, she was excited to try out this year. She'd worked her little hiney off all summer practicing.

She noticed him look anxiously at the staff table. "Weell, I won't waste any more of your time, then." She said. Good idea. "Thanks again!" She said as she got up. She gave him a small wave and moved back to her previous seat.

Aww, did really just wink?! Cuuute. She laughed, though she did agree that she would look better in a dress than him. She was a girl after all. Let's hope that was a good enough reason.

Ellie chuckled too, glad to share their favorite Quidditch team in common. "Oh, not that shallow. Riiight." She joked with a wink. "I'm only kidding. You seem like a pretty decent guy." She said with a laugh. Plus, it was natural of guys to like an all girl Quidditch team. Heck, if there were an all guys Quidditch team Ellie would be aaaall over it.

Man, was he laughing at her? She was good at making blank expressions. But it's his fault, right? He's the one who unloaded 23487 muggle entertainment terms on her at once... right? Heh, whatever. She laughed at herself too. It was a bit amusing. Really? She asked, raising her eyebrows. Yay, love soccer! "I mean, yeah! We should definitely play sometime. You don't er... happen to have a soccer ball with you, do you?" She asked skeptically. She'd never heard of a student bringing a soccer ball to Hogwarts. Maybe she could have her mother send one in the mail. Hmm...


Ellie raised her eyebrows, shocked. Nothing? Not a word? Peep? Sound effect? Well, she got a smile (was that considered a smile?) for starters. Oh, and a nod. Gotta start somewhere, right? She pondered for a second, looking around. She looked back at the boy. He looked like a first year. Young, small, nervous as heck. "You a little nervous?" She asked. She was determined to get some sort of vocal acknowledgment out of him.


Ellie frowned as Draven talked about his friend that had recently passed too. She knew how he felt though. Ellie's father was her best friend. She was never social as a child and sought out friendship through her dad. She nodded. "Yes. It is tough, I won't deny that. But it's also a great learning experience. I learned to become more independant because of my situation with my mother." She said.

Draven's words made Ellie happy. "Thank you very much, Draven. That means a lot to me. There's not many people out there that offer to listen to their so-called friends sad stories. And you know you can always count on me too! I'm always here for ya!" She said, smiling at her friend.

Ellie nodded with a smile. What in the world would she do without friends?

She smiled while Fee blushed. It really was adorable! But then she frowned. Oohh, ex trouble. "Oh... I'm sorry." She said. "Well, anything you want to talk about?" She offered. She didn't mind talking about "love life" trouble or anything. "But no pressure if you don't want to" She smiled. Fee was her friend; if she could help her in any way, she would.

She raised her eyebrows. She was caught. The way you look at him betrays you. Fee had said. Oh sweeeet potato pie, she wasn't kidding was she?! She leaned forward to the blonde. "Seriously?" She whispered loudly. Shame on her feelings for having no self control! Even though Fee said people were blind to it... Was he? "What about... Alex?" She asked still a little hunched forward and whispering. "Do you think he can... y'know, tell?" Sigh, there was no hiding it from Fee anymore. If she lied about her feelings, Detective Fee would know in an instant.

Ellie laughed. "Oh, right. Slytherin? The innocent ones?" she joked. What a joooke. No one was ever innocent when it came to Quidditch. The Quidditch Pitch should have been named the Battle Feild of Anger and Terror. Hmm, suiting name. [/proud]

Phew, Ellie laughed at herself with him. Good, now she wouldn't have to watch her back in case Alex was preparing to bite her. Not that she really worried about it. Er... "Nah, I quit biting people years ago. It's unsanitary" She joked.

She let a small laugh out. "Announcement thingy?" She smirked. "Well, I think the captians are supposed to post notices on the Common Room notice boards." She said shrugging. Oh yes, she'd check the board day and night, she would.

Awkward pause. She fingered the snake ring on her middle finger. Her mind was going blank again like it always did when she talked to Alex. Oh good, he thought of something. She smiled at the thought of the Leaky. But mostly because Alex remembered she'd stayed there. "Well, since we just got here, it just feels like a little road trip. But give me a month or two and I'll be missing it like crazy again." she smiled. She looked up at him. "You missing New York?" she asked. It must be hard being so far away from family.

Oh! A ghost! Ah of course! Alice remembered what her sisters had told her, this must be the Ravenclaw house ghost."Hello."Alice greeted the grey lady with a warm smile, she thought most first years would probably jump or maybe even scream at the sight of the ghosts currently moving round the hall, but not Alice, she was quite used to them due to her living situation back home.
