Once Lotte entered into the vicinity of the Ravenclaw Common Room, she couldn't help but let out a deep breath. No matter how many times she had seen this place, she still couldn't get used to the... aura -was that the correct word?- it exuded. She glanced to her right and noticed huge arched windows adorned with royal blue silks. She craned her neck and marveled at the sight that lay overhead. The domed ceiling was decorated with thousands of stars.

"This place is amazing," she muttered to herself, scurrying over to take a seat near the fireplace. Hugging her knees to her chest, she sighed as her body melted into the plush sofa. With a faint smile etched on her face, she flipped open her book and began to lose herself in the story.

Luin was busy reading her book, she was calculating a bunch of different equations in her head and scribbling a little in the margins. She was quite intrigued by the numbers and everything in the book. After awhile she looked around, rubbing her eyes for a moment as she focused them further than the pages of her book. She noticed a girl sitting near hr also absorbed in reading a book. She smiled, thinking tha was 's exactly what she was doing and she was a first year. She waited for a little bit, seeing if anyone else was going to come and talk to the girl and then got up and went to a chair next the girl's. She then spoke up, "Hello! I'm Luin, I just noticed that you were reading here, I love reading a lot too." she smiled, she hoped she wasn't being odd to the girl.

Katelynn had come to a bit of a.... well, boring part in her book, and therefore just sat, looking around.
She spotted another girl, which she assumed was another first-year like herself. She sat by the fireplace, reading.
Why do we always read? Is it because we're Ravenclaws?? shut up Katelynn, stop complaining! Don't curse! And stop having conversations with yourself inside your head, it's creepy...

She put her book on the table, and walked over to sit in a chair next to the girl's.
"Hi!" she said. "Uhm.. I'm Katelynn - mind if I sit here?"

Sarassi walked into the common waiting for her sister who said she was going to try and do a reading on her...Even though Nerida wasnt that good and would probablly confuse the meanings of the cards she waited for her twin sister silently..

Nerida walked down from the Girls Dormmitory to the common room she hoped her twin was there..She walked over to her and said Hey Sarassi! Ready to do the reading?Well I am not I am confused about it I dont get it will you come down with me to the Proffesors office? I tried but I couldnt understand! she looked down at the ground and waited for her twins awnser...

Sarassi smiled and said Sure, but first why dont we start on our Transfiguration Homework?Sarassi stood up and said Why dont we go to the lake first?She pulled her sister up knowing she would most likely need help...

Well....at least he didn't have any false pretenses about her. Giggle. Neptune SQUISHED into Finny and just went ahead and shut her eyes. "It'd be a bold person to steal from Princess Bott while in the company of the Prince of Ravenclaw."

Ellie gave Skye a slight smile. "Ellie.. again. Fourth year." She nodded.

Ellie rolled her eyes. She just met Enya but she could definitely see how she managed to get that many people in trouble. She angered people easily. Ellie narrowed her eyes slightly. "I hope you don't mind my asking, but... Why are you friends with her?"

Nerida smiled and said Okay!She then tried to get up she was about to ask her twin when Sarassi pulled up she smiled and said Thanks!Okay lets go to the Lake to start our homework!she giggled and began her way out of the common room followed by her twin..

Skye nodded. "Ellie...I can remember that," she said with a friendly smile. She really wanted to make sure that Ellie's night finished off pleasantly, even though it had begun so awful.

Skye's eyebrows shot straight up. "Friends?" she echoed, with a short laugh. "No, no. Enya and I aren't friends. Well, she thinks we are, for some odd reason, but...there's no way I'd ever be friends with someone so mean." She shook her head. "See, that's how I met her. She happened to be sitting on the other side of me from this girl whom she hated, and they started a food fight, as you know. And when a teacher came over to see what was going on and I told him, she became very angry with me and landed all of us into trouble."

Elle listened intently as she told the food fight story. "Ah, I see..." She said with a nod when she finished. "So you turned her in, and she thinks you two are friends? To me, it would make sense if you had become Enya's enemy. One of them, anyway." She noted. She was relieved that Skye wasn't Enya's friend. What person in their right mind would want to be?

Skye shrugged. "I don't know. You'd think so ,wouldn't you, but somehow, that's what she thinks. I did also try to stop the fight like I did today, but it didn't work last time. Maybe she just wanted to connect herself to someone older like that, and she didn't want to be my enemy. But I don't know." She shook her head. Sometimes, she had no idea how other peoples' minds worked. Enya was no exception.

"Oh yes..." Finlay laughed, glancing around the common room. OH they totally owned, so much. And it was a nice ego boost for her to call him the prince of ravenclaw. Jimmy would have a field day with it, but it did amuse Finlay quite a bit. "I'll poke them if they even attempt to still from you..." He mused with a grin at her. That would work he was sure.

JP smiled back at her and took out a tissue to wipe the tears out from her eyes.
"Well at least we are friends now and we won't have to worry about you brothers for a long while yet. Yeah, she was in our charms class. I know a couple slytherin that arent too bad. "

Ellie frowned. "Or maybe she's keeping you so you can be her little helper to rule the world." She said casually with a light laugh. Yeah, that was definitely it. "I don't know, I'm just glad I don't have to sleep near her at night." She shrugged. She'd move to a different bed if that was the case.

Skye laughed as well. "THERE WE GO, that must be it," she said. "It all makes sense now!" She grinned. "Well, I'm going to see if I can make her nice. it's going to take a lot of work, I think, but maybe it's worth a try."

Skye smiled and shook her head. "Nope. Dormitories are supposed to be organized by year, remember? You might be in the same room, but you shouldn't be near each other. And anyway, she probably feels the same way about you."

Emily skipped down the stairs from her dormitory and found herself a soft patch of carpet in front of the fire to sit on. She sat there cross legged, and placed her silver pocket watch from transfiguration onto the carpet in front of her. She had in mind her final design for a compass. She wasn't entirely sure that it would work. And it didn't help that she didn't quite know what a really nice compass looked like. None the less she focused solely on her pocket-watch-soon-to-be-brilliant-compass.
After a moment of concentrating she enhaled a deep breath and released it slowly.
Still thinking of her compass she performed the wand movement and recited the incantation.
"Comletia", she said in a strong clear voice, her mind still focused intently on her potential compass.
The pocket watch vibrated for a short second before morphing into the compass.
"It worked!" Emily squeeled... she stopped abruptly and starred around the room. She hoped she hadn't disturbed anyone.

Emily picked up the compass and turned it around in her hand. It was certainly pretty and certainly intricate. It was a shiny, rounded gold rimmed compass. The compass face was pearlescent with silver numbers around the edges. And N,S,E,W in pretty feminine cursive lettering. A star design was the centrepeice of the compass. Although unlike her previous four and eight pointed stars, this one more more complex. She wasn't even sure how many points it had...
Emily wasn't about to count them all so she estimated that there was about 16... yes that sounded right... a sixteen pointed star. Emily turned it over in her fingers once more, the compass was not only pretty to look at on the front, but it was just as pretty to look on the back. On the back there appeared to be a map... sort of. Of lots of little stars. The watch was two-toned, so the silver stars shimmered against the gold background. A small cresent moon, engraved in silver sat in the bottom right hand corner-on the back of the compass- and a brilliant silver sun, shone in the top left hand corner. Emily loved it, she was very pleased with the outcome and only hoped that the Professor would be just as pleased.

Emily didn't revert it back to its original form. Instead she pushed it deep into her pocket. She then turned her attention to the roaring fire place.

"Yeah... maybe it is worth a shot." That was a huge lie. Okay, maaaybe Ellie was a teensy bit biased about Enya, but she really saw no hope in her EVER becoming a nice person. Had Skye MET her recently? Enya was insane. Carrying stink bombs in her pockets. And you want to turn that nice? "Let me know how that goes." She said with a shrug.

Huh. Ellie hadn't realized that. "Oh." She said plainly. That explained a lot. She laughed. "Yeah, I suppose she would." Good.

"Hey Rowan, how have you classes going??"

Skye grinned. "You don't believe me, do you?" she said. "Well, You'll see. I think it might work." Just kidding. She had no hope either, but Ellie didn't need to know that. Then again, she was rather persuasive...

Skye laughed. "If you want, you can take the bed next to mine," she offered. "I don't really have any friends, so no one ever sits....or sleeps...near me." Wow. It sounded even worse out loud.

"Hi JP. Classes are okay I guess. At least the Potions Professor seems to have taken a chill pill. How about you?" she asked her friend, putting her book back into her bag. She much rather talk to someone right now.

"Ah well, i decided that i don't much like arithmancy so much anymore. It's ok but i feel a ting of diviniation in there and i don't know if i like it. Now i guess is hall give potions a try. I always liked it but the professors always seem so..
dark? " He didn't know what other word to use but this one seemed to fit the description well enough for her to understand he hoped.

Rowan chuckled and said, "When it comes to Lafay, I think troll-like is fairly accurate. But like I said, she seems a little less so this term. I was TERRIFIED of her last year. I think she just really wants to learn things correctly so is tougher on us. I'm not so big on Arithmancy either." Rowan scratched Panda's ear as she asked, "So when did you discover what your patronus was?"

" Yeah, Well. I do like potions. The whole subject is brilliant. However, the theory and actually practice is hard. That's why i like it thought i guess."
JP looked now to the beautifully decorated celling above him as he brought back the memory of which he saw all too clearly. "Well, It was actually this summer. I was with my father. He gave me a little bird named ollie and along with the bird came the many lessons he usually gave me during the summer break. In order to keep the things that he gets me on the travels i have to do well on the lessons he gives me. This summer terms lesson was a paronus. I bet you can only imagine how hard it is to do it. Kids our age struggle with us. Not us ravies though." JP gave her a wink.

"Thanks." Charley laughed a little. "I know a few too," she continued, thinking about Benjamin, her best friend's...what exactly was he? They were sort of together, but it was still the start of the year so it couldn't be that official, no? She pushed those thoughts out of her head. "Well, I need to be getting on now. I'm meeting a couple friends in the Astronomy Tower. I'll see you later?"
