"Professor in the Real story the end isn't as sweet as Disney would have us suggest." he began, "Yes the Prince came along, but he didn't kiss her, instead he had his servants take her glass coffin to his castle, but on the way one stumbled and shoke the coffin, which dis-lodged the poisoned apple from Snow White's throat and she woke up....." he didn't want to suck the romance out of it, he just wanted to give the proper facts.....

Then there was the witch.....and he didn't think the young one would deal with her being forced to dance till she died....

The color from Kurumi's face drained when Patroclus spoke and retold how the fairy tale really ended. Why did he have to go and ruin the romantic illusion that Disney had created?!

Kurumi rather liked the notion of true love's kiss and it ability to heal anything. It IS the most powerful thing in the world, after all.

Some day when spring is here...We'll find our love anew...And the birds will sing...And wedding bells will ring...Some day when my dreams...Come true

She hummed to herself, but frowned at Patroclus. Nope, she would like to keep her romantic ending, thank you.

Waiting for another few moments for any last-minutes answers he finally got off the desk and pointed his apple at Elektra who had been first to give the right answer. "Actually, like Elektra - among others - here suggested, I was hoping that somebody would mention the Muggle fairytale Snow White and the Seven Dwarves." He should have brought a dwarf-hat.

"Now, for those of you who are not familiar with the fairy tale, the most important thing for now is that there is an evil witch involved who tries to kill Snow White." At this he reached over and pulled the blanket off the thing on his desk...which was a plastic dummy which looked quite a lot like Snow White. "Some of you mentioned choking on a piece of apple as one of the dangers and this is partly what happened to Snow White in the fairytale. The evil witch poisoned an apple and tricked her to take a bite and she choked on the piece." At this he moved his eyes away from the figure on his desk and back to the class. "Can anybody tell me how the fairytale ends? And I'd prefer the...er...Disney version of it, not the original." It was more...magical.

Sierra made a slight face at the mention of Muggle fairy tales. She'd never even read a Muggle fairy tale before. As a matter of fact, up until a few seconds ago when the professor had mentioned the title 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs', Sierra didn't even know the name of a single Muggle fairy tale.

Oh, ...great. Now she had to tell the ending of a story she'd never read before. Raising her hand, she said, "Professor, I've never read or heard of any Muggle fairy tales before. I'm not sure how the story ended, but I'm guessing it didn't involve any curses, hexes, or spells," she said. After all, the witch would be breaking the Statute of Secrecy if she cast anything, right? Right. Was Snow White a Muggle? Sierra looked thoughtful as she considered several different possibilities. "If you ask me, though, this Snow White character needs a lesson in taking food from strangers, especially apples. That is, if she survived." The silly girl.

... Snow White? And the... what?

...

Oooh and there was a witch too! But a bad one. And... the apple idea... Interesting. But waaaaait! He didn't ask them to bring apples with them to do the same thing, right?

And what was Disney?

... Helena was about to bury herself. She had no idea what they were talking about. She'll have a lot of muggle fairytales to read when the class was over.

Samira Malfoy Potter 04-04-2011 07:49 PM

A Muggle Fairy Tale? Samira didn't know anything about Muggles, let alone their stories. However, she did pay close attention to the story about Snow White. She thought a lot about the evil witch, and the way she tried to kill Snow White. It really was a cunning, devious way. A poisoned apple was quick and easy, and it would be hard to find out who did it. Samira realized that the witch would have been quite a good Slytherin. She sat back and listened to other people's answers.

Kyle nodded at what Patroculus had said, "Yeah all of the Grimm Brother fairy tales were well...romanticized by Disney when they got their hands on it." She exclaimed, "That even happened with say, Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales." She took a breath before continuing. "In the Little Mermaid for example the prince married another - the girl he thought had saved him and when he realized he was wrong, he was literally a minute too late and just had the time to see her jump into the ocean becoming sea foam."

Sighing she added a last bit, "the worst at least in my opinion was how the true story of Hans Christian Anderson's The Seven Swans - the princess swan when she was transformed back into a human...her father married her." She nearly gagged "a-and she had kids with him...all because she wasn't aloud to speak but that made it so her brothers could be transfigured back into humans."
