Kurumi reached into her bag and pulled out a nice vibrant green Granny Smith apple and set it on her desk. Was Professor Zookara trying to go old fashioned on them and have them bring apples to the teacher? Kurumi had read about it, seeing as this practice was not done in Japan. "Professor, is it true that in rural areas in America a little bit of fresh produce from the family farm was a standard courtesy for a teacher since they were probably not paid much in cash?"

Ooh! Ooh! Ellie forgot an apple!

Hand up. And smile.

Heh. Sorry, Zookara.

"Anyways, I asked you to bring an apple to class today-" He paused for a moment, letting his hazel eyes wander around the classroom briefly.

"Who forgot to do that?" In the meantime he had got his wand out and was pointing it at an apple in his hand, ready to duplicate it in case it was necessary.

Luin looked up a the professor, still trying to figure out what was under the blanket next to him. Instead of finding out, she listened as he mentioned the apples they were supposed to bring. She quickly searched through her bag and grabbed a shiny red apple, putting it on the table next to her parchment. She then sat back, looking around and wondering what they were going to talk about this lesson.

Jake raised his hand up high from where he sat at the back.

In all honesty, he hadn't forgotten. There was a reason, but... hey... may as well play along.

Emily listened intently as the class began, she looked down at the green apple on her desk. Clean, shiny and fresh. Hearing her stomach rumble Emily gave the apple a concerned look... perhaps it wouldn't be an apple for much longer.

Sorry about that. So, class has now officially started. If you haven't posted yet, please don't post your character arriving late, just pretend you have been there all along.

Smiling at the entering students, Jeremy simply continued to sit, returning greetings and trying to hide a smirk when most of them stared at the thing on his desk as if he had brought along a corpse. Very amusing. Oh how they were all dying to know what was underneath it...........

As one girl directly approached him, Jeremy straightened in his seat slightly and gave the girl a friendly smile. Elektra. "Well, I'm very happy to hear that, Elektra. Good to have you here." Even though he actually wanted to know why she had missed his first lesson he wasn't going to make a big fuss about it. She was here now after all.

Elektra smiled at him before walking to a table and sat down and she put her bag onto the table and started looking for her apple then pulled it out and placed it onto the table. Her fingers laced together as she waited for the lesson. She couldn't wait. Shw was excited for this class. She still, herself didn't know why she had missed the first class, but then again she did have a good reason, never did really talk to anybody about it. Not even her close friends, Selina, Violet, and Derian.

"Quite likely, yes." Was it obvious that he was not really giving a final answer? "That's not the reason I had you bring apples to class though." He added with a small grin at the Gryffindor. No, it had been for a very different reason.

He simply nodded - trying not to show his disappointment that there actually WERE students who hadn't brought an apple - while pointing his wand at the apple in his hand and...lowering it again. "Actually, I just asked you to bring the apples-" To see if you would. "-for inspiration." Jeremy shook his head slightly and put his wand back in its holster. No apples for those who didn't bring one themselves...

Tossing the apple into the air once for dramatic effect, he caught it easily before addressing the class again. "Now, what happens if you eat an apple?" He held it up close to his face, as if examining it closely. "Are there any...dangers, maybe?" At this he lowered his hand again, looking at the students, waiting for some answers.

Elektra kinda chuckled at the question he had. Elektra raised her hand hesitantly and looked a little puzzled. "I'm sorry I just want ot make sure I heard you correct professor. Did you say if there are any dangers to eating an apple? I mean the only thing I can think of is possibly an allergic reaction to those who can't eat apples, or if someone managed to put poison into an apple like that movie 'Snow White.'"

Dangers? From eating an apple?
Emily looked at the bite she'd already taken from her apple. If she'd known there were dangers in eating it, she woudn't have!
"Um, I didn't think there were dangers. Apples are supposed to be good for you."
She twisted her apple stork around until it came off.
"I guess there could be, like, a worm inside it and if you ate it..." Ew. That would be gross. "That could count as a 'danger' sort of." But, she guessed that didn't happen often. Or did it? Now she had something to make conversation with!

Dangers? Apples can be dangerous? K-Lee looked down at her own apple. She supposed if you lobbed it hard enough...

"Professor, could some dangers be it could be poisonous? Like in that muggle fairy tale with those freaky dwarves." Yeah she was thinking about muggle movies again. She didn't like Snow White much. Those 7 dwarfs freaked her out.

"Also, choking on it." K-Lee has choked on an apple once. Wasn't pretty.

Charley pursed her lips, taking the apple she'd been eating out of her mouth. After she finished chewing what she had, she raised her hand to answer.
"Nutrient wise, they are very good for you. Sometimes they could be rotten, though, or have pesticides left on them, and I can't imagine that's any good for you."

Felixir 03-11-2011 11:21 PM

Jake kept his hand raised at that. "You could get poisoned by Laf-... uh, a wicked witch... well... I'm sure muggles think so, anyway," the young man suggested. "It's in one of their fairy tales."

Although having been brought up muggle, Jake was out of touch with a lot of muggle things... including their nursery rhymes. He'd never paid attention in the past, and of course his poor reading meant he hadn't read them.

So.

Yeah.

Rarr.

Hmm that's disappointing, she thought. I could of sworn I had an apple somewhere seeing as she's always carrying some sort of fruit. She pulled out a piece of pineapple, not that won't do, grapefruit, nope not that, two peaches, ugh no... ah here's an apple and sat it on her desk still listening to the Professor.

Dangers? To apples? She thought for not even a second... "Well everything these days causes cancer so why not apples?"
She said half jokingly. She took a bite of her apple, ironically enjoying its sweetness.

Lyta certainly had not fogotten the apple. She brought it because she usually ate them. "Sir,apples are good for you,but there are dangers. You could choke on them, they could be poisoned,if you eat too much of a good thing it can be bad for you,and there are other things." However, she liked apples. She was always very fit,and partly got that way be eating healthy foods, the other half by exercising so much that her shoulders looked buff.

Besides the trace amount of arsenic in the seeds,he could not think of any unless Serria decided to throw hers at the head Huff

" My Grandfarther use to tease me that if you ate the seeds they would grow in your stomach"showing the proffessor his apple but trying to cover the part where he had taken a bite out of it.When he was watching the verbal battle between Sierria and the Huffs

"Only if you put poison in it," Kurumi said scratching her head. "Or, if the apple is perhaps spoiled because eating rotten food is unhealthy. Although, I've heard that there are some people who are allergic to apples, so eating an apple if you are so would be very unwise."

Emmy pulled her Pink Lady apple out of her bag, and set it down on the desk before her.
Raising her hand, she said,
"Well... If you were allergic to apples, that could be very serious, or you could simply choke on a piece, or there might be some form of parasite inside it, or... Germs on the skin? Where other people have touched it with dirty hands?" Just a couple of suggestions... Tee hee!

Mia stared at her apple for a moment totally tempted to sink her teeth into it until the Professor spoke. She looked away from her fruit and raised her hand in the air. "In a sense they can be, aside from the fact that you could choke on a piece. Apparently the seeds contain quantities of cyanide. If you were to swallow the seeds whole you would probably be fine. But chewing on apple seeds is very hazardous."

Cyanide that was it. Not Arsenic man Lafey would have roasted him alive if he said Arsenic.
Looking back to the girl Mikey gives a nod,and a smile

Nika looked at her professor with question in her eyes. HUH? "Well when you eat an apple or really anything your body digests it and then when you go to the bathroom it err-" Nika stopped. Not how she wanted to start the class. Nika raised her hand when she heard the second question. Good. A chance to redeem herself. "Well I love the movie Snow White! It's about a princess and seven little dwarfs and they are sooooo cute! Well in Snow White the evil witch gives Snow White a poison apple to try and kill her! But she doesn't succeed ofcourse." Nika added. "Well a danger could be the apple might be poisoned like in Snow White!

BearyMay 03-12-2011 03:23 AM

Dangers of eating an apple? Was there even any? Think outside of the box, Di...

"I guess if there are still pesticides on the fruit and you start eating it then you can..die, I guess," as she shrugged her shoulders and lowered her hand... and then raising it again. "Oh, and isn't it dangerous to eat the apple seed?" she added.

HaRoHeGiNeLu 03-12-2011 03:37 AM

...What? No apple?

POUT.

Of course, now Ellie wanted one. For herself. To eat. Because... she did.

Dangerous apple? Of courseeee, "If you eat the seeds, a tree'll grow inside your stomach." Truth. Her mom said so.

Samira Malfoy Potter 03-12-2011 03:43 AM

Dangers? To eating an apple?

Samira raised her hand. "Well...i guess you can get poisoning from it. Or-oh! You could choke! If you take too large of a bite you can swallow and well...die." Samira finished with an airy wave of her hand. She never realized how dangerous apples were...

Wenzlebug 03-12-2011 04:17 AM

For INSPIRATION? But he had just conjured an apple! He actually forgot to bring the apple a kind house-elf gave him but it was in his trunk and he just conjured it! He'd been practicing, you know, and he thought this should be the time his conjuring skills should be put into a test. Hmm. But as a consolation, at least, he could just eat the apple and he had practiced his conjuring skills even more.

"There are certainly notorious dangers... like when you take a really large chunk-bite of an apple and it get stuck--you might choke. Then die."

Luinevaug 03-12-2011 04:43 AM

Luin looked at her apple for a bit thinking about the question. She then raised her hand, "As it has been mentioned, the seeds are knwon to have small amounts of cyanide in them, although just swallowing one would not do too much harm." she paused, "Or the skins, i've heard some say there is bad stuff on the skins."
