There is nothing in Muggle Studies Classroom which would make it look different from any other classroom. There is not even anything special on the teacher's desk which might indicate what today's lesson was going to be about. Nothing. Just Professor Zookara sitting at his desk, turning a piece of chalk in his hands absently, waiting for the first students to arrive.
Not even the professor's facial expression gives away any hints to help you figure out today's topic. It is neither particularly excited, nor openly annoyed. It is just rather...indifferent. Indifferent, yet friendly and welcoming.
OOC: Class has now officially started, so please no late arrivals, no chatting and make sure you're familiar with the Classroom Rules. If you haven't posted your character arriving, you can just pretend like they have been there all along. ^__^

Emily raised her hand. "The bloodbank... this is where they 'store' blood in case of emergencies and during operations etc. The blood they have comes from muggles who have donated their blood."
Dianna thought really hard on this question. She wasn't really into those hospital drama shows muggles loved to watch.
"Uh... don't they do blood transfusion?" Dianna asked as she raised her hand. "Muggles can either do that or get from the blood bank. Basically both gets the blood from willing muggle donors." she said as she lowered her hand.

Simon looked at the People. "Don't people give blood at a Blood Donation Place and the blood that is given is stored somewhere for use when people need it, the only problem is that not all people are the same blood type and some are very rare and it's hard to find the blood for them people."
Of course... letters were still a little funny in his head. But everyone makes brain typos... right?
"Stands for... super... person revival."
But was the revival super... or the person?
HMMMMMMMMM.
Watta mind, Raven smirk, and close to burst but manage to collect himself.
Now now, for the question, leave us some change Prefect Patroclus.
Raven shut up his hand before saying. "The most common professor is the blood bank, where the blood is stored. and another is from the donor itself during most crucial time in a muggle life" Raven say it simply

Luin quickly took down her notes about CPR, relieved it seemed to be something good, although Cardio pull--omnary? bleh, muggle terms, not up her alley. She wrote it all down by sound and then the definition of it. She watched as the professor place the pin on the desk and thought about the question, "Hmm, perhaps they could make more of it from some they have already from the patient. Perhaps they have some kind of way to make more of it from a sample?" she really had no idea what the answer was.
Selina rose her hand and answered, "In the Muggle World many Muggles are part of an organization called donors. These people give their own blood and it is put in bags. The bags are then put in something called a blood bank. When a hospital like Mungos needs to help a person who needs blood they get the bag. Then healers stick needles in their arms and put the others person's blood into the person in need. But the blood type needs to match and there is no garentee that the blood will not be rejected."

Where do the Docs get it from? "They get it from other Muggles, usually from blood banks who collects them when other Muggles donate blood, sometimes the hospital itself conducts direct blood transfusion specially if the patient has a donor present who is compatible with their blood type."

"People donate blood if they're the same blood type." It had already been said, but she wanted to get involved! "It's like the same with organ donors... except it's blood."
Yeah... she was rambling now.
"somtime they will just give the saline and plasma a medic in the field cant keep blood on hand " there were several clotting drugs they could give also but mikey didnt know the names

"Muggles give other muggles blood?!" she asked, finally tuning into the conversation and pausing in her extreme doodling she was doing on her notebook page. "Like...actually, take blood out of their body, and give it to the others?" Did she hear Stutters right? They store it away?
..."So they like, just have random blood stored away? That's...kinda gross." Yeeaaaa. Another reason to label muggles as crazy and weird and to just stay away from them. Eh.

Nika raised her hand. Her mother has donated blood before and Nika planned to when she got older. "Well Professor, those who have blood that they are able to give away donate blood for others in need. Usually you donate it to an organization and they will take care of the details. Lots of times a school or community may hold a blood drive, so that many people can give blood at a time that's convenient for them. The only problem is that everyone has a different blood type so they have to make sure to give the right type of blood to the right person." Nika beamed, happy with her answer.

Mia raised her hand int the air after the Professor had finished asking the question. "They get from a place called the Blood Bank. This institue collects, tests and stores blood. They also carefully screen the blood for any infectious diseases, such as viruses. They also screen for the blood group type." She paused for a moment to take a breath. "Not all blood donated however has to come from a stranger. Not all operations in the muggle world are emergencies. Some surgeries don't happen for months so you can in fact donate your own blood to use in the operation."
She stopped to listen to some of the answers given and she shook her head slightly. "Actually Professor while it is preferable to use the same blood type for a transfusion it is not always possible. Especially if there has been a lot of blood lost or there is no time to test a person's blood group. About forty per cent of the population has type O blood. People who have this blood type are called universal donors and it is usually used for emergencies."
Mia put her hand down because quite frankly if she didn't stop now she could probably go on for hours but she had given everyone the gist of it.
Kyle squirmed in her chair, then she spoke up. "They get blood from blood donation drives however the person giving the blood must first be healthy and free of all blood related illnesses including but not limited to Hepatitus B, hepatitis C, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus also known as HIV," she took a deep breath before continuing.
"There are also lesser known diseases that are passed through the blood such as HTLV-1, HGV, Cryoglobulinemia, TTV, CMV, CJD, as well as the potentially catastrophic Lyme disease." She looked up at the board again squirming not exactly wanting to explain how she knew about muggle blood based diseases. Its what you get when your step father is a muggle born.

"Professor, the people who are in need get the blood from people who voluntairly give blood at blood drives at hospitals or schools, but the blood has to be compatiable with their bodies though like with the AB,B,O, and A type bloods. If they get the wrong blood, their bodies will fight it off." Annabelle said.

As K-Lee heard the other students answers, she wrinkled her nose up. They seriously exchanged blood? Glad to be a witch, K-Lee was oh so thankful for the blood replenishing potions the magical society has.
Emmaleigh raised her hand. "They can also get blood directly from a donor. I guess its mostly done in emergencies, but the donor and patient are connected by and IV, and they get blood that way." She paused a moment to think. "Well, at least I think they can do it that way. I've seen them do it on TV." And Tv is always correct.

Blood really grossed Alex out. It made him faint, which was partially the reason he couldn't get on a broomstick. If he crashed and cut his forehead or something...POOF. That was the end of his usefulness in the game.
The thought that muggles just had tons and tons of blood hidden away somewhere just waiting to be used by accident victims was unnerving. Imagine if he accidentally wandered into one of those places! He'd probably die of shock. Just flat out DIE.
He raised his hand. "I've heard that people willingly donate their blood just to be nice. As like a charity thing," he explained. He was sure there were more useful things you could do with your time than stick a needle in your arm and give away your blood...maybe building houses? "Then they use that blood on people who need it. They need to make sure you have healthy blood before you donate it, though--you can't donate if you have certain diseases cause you might get the person who receives your blood that same illness," he added.
Although, people with those were usually the ones who NEEDED extra blood, right? Ehh, whatever. Blood was gross no matter what.

Kyle noticed the pale look on Alex's face and handed him a quick saltine cracker. "Here, it might help with your stomach" she smiled apologetically. She didn't care if she'd get detention to help someone out right then and there.

Sierra listened carefully, her eyes widening a little as the professor went on. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no," she thought to herself. With all this 'let's save the muggles' talk going around the school, Sierra couldn't help but imagine that the professor was about to suggest they give their magical blood to the muggles. No matter how she felt about muggles and saving them, she wasn't about to share her purely magical blood with them.
...but then Jake Morgan spoke up and mentioned the Blood Replenishing Potion, which caused Sierra to relax just a little. Now she'd brew a potion for the muggles, but actually donate some of her blood to them?! No way!
Raising her hand, she said, "I'm with Evelyn on this one. So the muggles just--take the blood right on out of their body and give it away?!" She made a face at her brother, who somehow seemed to know all of this already. The whole concept seemed sort of strange to her--what with being raised as a pure-blood and being highly aware of what that meant. "They seriously need a Blood Replenishing Potion instead..."
"They get it from other muggles." Heather said confidently after raising her hand. She wondered of she was the only pureblood witch who had grown up with muggles. She found it quite odd herself and so did a few other students she met and told.

Ohhh where did muggles get blood from? Mhhh... this was a though question,But Fee has heard about it before. At least she thought sol.Raising her hand, the blonde's brain worked on top."I am not sure but isnt it like that doctors have to chekc what blood type muggles have first?",she started,"and sick people that lost a lot of blood get new blood from other muggles with the same blood type."Something like that.Or was she totally wrong?!God,m that wouldbe embarrassing.
"A blood bank at a hospital, Professor. They put a needle through your vein, the blood gets into your system and viola, you get blood," Elle replied with a nod.
"But, there are certain complications in this business.Muggles," she said with distaste, "have different blood types and cannot receive blood of another type. There are O, A, B and AB. It's easy to get O, since it's the most common and more universal, but there are others that are more difficult to get. Blood donors volunteer to share their blood to the less fortunate and are therefore taking some blood out of their system for the hospital," Woods answered confidently with a smirk and sat down gracefully with her head held high. Okay, he could see absolutely nothing down there which was why he got up and placed the box onto the desk, before continuing his rummaging. Where were they?! They weren't that small.
He paused his search for a moment, to glance at whoever had answered first...Jake. "No, sorry, Jake, it does have something to do with revival but this is not what the letters stand for. Besides, CPR is spelled with a C not with an S." He went to write it onto the blackboard for all to see how it was spelled.
Interesting suggestion though. Griiin.
Too many details but yes, absolutely correct. "Exactly, thank you, Patroclus. It's used on people who are in cardiac arrest, meaning that their heart is not pumping like it is supposed to, or not at all." Jeremy had gone back to moving things around in his box, and had only briefly glanced at Patroclus to give him a smile.
And there they we- OUCH! Of course, how could he have expected it otherwise, he pricked his finger with the needle of the pin he had been looking for. Sucking at his finger, he placed the pin (OOC: Look what I found. Rawrr. ) on the teacher's desk, and next to it a still rolled-up poster.

Jamie raised her hand. "Couldn't they get the blood from a family member or two?" Surely that couldn't be to dangerous.

Satine raised her hand, "Well sir, they sometimes have random blood drives at their schools or workplaces or places of worship and the muggles donate blood to help out the others...and sometimes they even donate when they don't know where their blood is going..." she paused with a shiver...she hated the thought of blood and needles and this required thinking about both..."They also let you donate this clear liquid stuff called plasma....I'm not really sure why but I know they do..." she said with a little node up and down.
