There is nothing in Muggle Studies Classroom which would make it look different from any other classroom. There is not even anything special on the teacher's desk which might indicate what today's lesson was going to be about. Nothing. Just Professor Zookara sitting at his desk, turning a piece of chalk in his hands absently, waiting for the first students to arrive.
Not even the professor's facial expression gives away any hints to help you figure out today's topic. It is neither particularly excited, nor openly annoyed. It is just rather...indifferent. Indifferent, yet friendly and welcoming.
OOC: Class has now officially started, so please no late arrivals, no chatting and make sure you're familiar with the Classroom Rules. If you haven't posted your character arriving, you can just pretend like they have been there all along. ^__^

Emily listened to the Professors questions... indeed they have discussed muggles in EVERY class so far. Though it was interesting this sudden shift in the curriculum was giving her a head ache.
Emily raised her hand, "Emily Browne", she said before continuing, "I was just wondering whether this emphasis on muggles is going to be present for the rest of term as well? Its just as fascinating as it is... I feel as thought this shift in curriculum is... sort of... well forced and I'm not very comfortable with it. I'd like to get back to what comes naturally to me... to us... magic and more of an emphasis on our world. I don't have anything against muggles, it's just I was raised in the wizarding world and it's where I'm going to stay. So while this is all well and interesting I just fear it isn't as relevant to me as it might be to others."

Hearing Professor Zookara start the class, Simon listened to what was said. Questions? Not at the moment he thought to himself as he listened to the rest of the class offer there own. He couldn't help but agree with a few of them for muggles had been so focused on with the other classes it was curious as to what would become of the subject in the actual "Muggle Studies" course. Lexi's question of course threw a wrench into the equation.
Iris made her way to the Muggle Studies classroom on her own. She kinda hoped that Someone would already be there. Like, a friend. Opening the door and slipping in, Iris smiled and nodded at the professor. "Hullo Professor!" She added, cheerfully.
Seeing Fallon, Iris grinned and made a beeline for her. "Heeey. You okay?" She asked; their conversation from the night before still on her mind. Iris dumped her bag on the table and then sat down next to her best friend.
Fallon smiled as Iris walked into the room and took the seat next to her. She smiled a crazy grin at her. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" The chocolate and hysteria of being heart broken had both made her very hyper and WAY too happy. She hoped it didn't affect the lesson in anyway...

Jeremy didn't get up from his seat, however, did smile at each of the students who arrived at the classroom. Many familiar faces. Directing his "hellos" at everybody who directed theirs at him, he continued to smile at them all. It made him happy how many students had chosen the subject, again or the first time. Despite Gevrik's assumption that they wouldn't.
Trixie's way of addressing him made him grin but he was of course okay with whatever they came up with. As long as it wasn't...offensive or anything, obviously.
After the last few students had also finally found their way into his classroom, Jeremy went to close the door before turning back to face the students, a small smile playing around his lips. "I'm really glad to see so many familiar and also new faces in this lesson, meaning all of you are obviously interested in the subject I teach. If not, well, you're probably in the wrong classroom then." He grinned, simply regarding each of them for a moment.
After a short pause Jeremy moved around his desk to lean against it while keeping his eyes on the students. "Now, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Jeremy Zookara and I have been teaching Muggle Studies since last term. Also, please say your name first if you're answering a question so I can get to know you." Then letting his eyes flicker towards some of the more familiar faces he added, "Of course, this only counts for those of you who HAVEN'T been in my class last year. I should be able to remember your names...and if I don't, I'll try to pretend I do."Heh.
"Now, before I will begin discussing today's topics, I would like to ask you guys something else. I'm sure you have noticed that there is a special...emphasis on Muggles this term, so is there anything you would like to comment on, or ask about?" He was going to be really objective about the whole thing. Or at least he was going to try. "I don't want any heated discussions on this, I'm just offering you a chance to ask any questions you might have on the subject, not on anybody's sides or opinions."

Fallon gave Professor Zookara another wide grin. She had crossed her legs and noticed her foot had started to bounce. She didn't realize she was that hyper. Maybe the chocolate and coffee after not sleeping well wasn't such a good idea. She got it to stop right as Zookara started the lesson.
Questions? Do I have any questions? Fallon didn't think she did. But she thought about it a little longer anyways. Unknown to her, her foot started to bounce slightly again. Nope. She didn't have any questions. She just wanted to get on with the lesson.

Ok, done. Looking around, she began to listen to other people's questions. It was kind of interesting, in a way. Plus this class was a complete waste of time for her, so she might as well get as much information as she could out of it. The redhead neatly positioned her quill in the ink well an flicked a loose strand of hair out of her eyes. Muggle Studies, here goes a rather wasted two hours.

Salander had to smirk. Yes there have been such an emphasis on everything Muggle hasnt there? "Well Professor, are you getting any kind of special premium with all the Muggle-related lessons? Consultant's fee perhaps? I mean certainly you must be a valued resource regarding this." he asked with a crooked albeit good natured smile.
His eyes drifted to that red-head Ravenclaw again. Hard to miss with hair like that. Just as he was giving her a small wave (regardless if she appreciated it or not) his head spun towards the direction of the Gryffindor blonde.
What the heck is Lexi saying??!?
"Not all Wizarding boys have cooties!" he blurted out defensively, trying to keep that panic from showing on his face. "Muggle-kind, Magical-kind or whatever-kind. And as for Muggle boys...." dang, he's half-blood so that kinda applies on him too "I'm pretty sure a lot of them are cooties free too." Nods firmly.
Oh and he has another question "Professor, wouldnt you say that girls can be affected by cooties too, muggle-kind or otherwise?"

Legend enjoyed Muggle Studies more than a lot of people. It was probably because of Professor Zoo though. His mentor. The greatest professor ever!
Alright, maybe he was boosting him up just a bit. Legend shook his head. He had no real questions about Muggles. He knew everything he needed to know.Sure his dad was a pureblood, but his birth mom had been a Muggle.

Dianna did not really planned to attend muggle studies. Hoenestly she got lost in some part of the castle and found herself in this classroom. Muggle Studies. She has only attended around four classes in her three years here at Hogwarts so why not add another to make it five?
Raising her hand she said, "Um, Professor.. Since we have an emphasis on Muggles this term does that mean we'll be learning more about them? As in the way they live, etc.? Or will we be also learning about muggle objects like last term?" she asked as she lowered her hand.
"Oh! My bad.. I'm Dianna Malfoy." she added. She slapped herself lightly on the forehead for almost forgetting to tell her name.

Nika raised her hand. In all honesty she was very confused. They were going to a wizarding school right? So why learn about normal human beings? Nika is a muggle-born so she only had ideas of what they would learn about in Hogwarts, but none included learning about muggles. Besides the muggle studies class of course. "Hi, my name is Nika Adler," she said starting off. "I'm a muggleborn and I thought we were supposed to learn about magic here. And in all of my classes we have started off by talking about muggles. And i was just wondering why? I know you said there has been an emphasis on muggles this term, but why?" Nika smiled sweetly hoping that her question had been clear enough. She was less nervous than she was starting off in other classes because she has a muggle family so everything in this class should be a piece of cake! But yet she couldn't help feel slightly worried that her teacher wouldn't like her.

*Raising his hand Matty wanted to ask some many questions on why the topic of muggles seemed to be everywhere. But what if this was a trap or something?*
"Matthias Gardner... and why the sudden popularity in muggles and muggle care in most of our classes? And why is Mr. Gevrik here really? For security reasons we've been told but what security problems is he protecting us from?"
Like Arya, Sabel couldn't keep the frown off his expression as he listened to the rest of the class pipe up with all sorts of questions surrounding muggles. Most seemed disatisfied that every class had started out or been based around muggles. While he didn't like the tone the classes took towards muggles, he couldn't say the connection wasn't appreciated.
Chewing on his bottom lip slowly he glanced at the girl, Sierra, considering her admittance and making a mental note to try and catch up with her during the class. Only once that was filed away did he turn his attention back to the rest of the class, biting at the bit to say something but knowing full well the Professor had specified questions only, not personal opinions. Still, he could work his thoughts into a question as long as he kept the faint hint of agitation down.
"Professor, many wizards and muggles believe their worlds are separate and isolated apart and that one can be ignorant of the other without consequence, is this true?" It wasn't that he didn't have an answer drawn up for himself, but rather that it seemed like it would be beneficial for a few students to remember that both worlds were deeply intertwined with one another, and being part of one was impossible without stepping foot into the other.

Fiddling with her badge with one hand, the Hufflepuff tentatively raised her other, "I think it's a good thing. Muggles are BIG," wide eyed, Wesley stretched out her arms to emphasize how big, "Not like - big as in tall, you know, or wide...well, some are, but big as in a BIG part of our lives. And they're people too, and they have feelings too, and they have a lot of great things to share too." Like Candyland.
"They're the other half of the story."
Ending with a little nod, the short sixth year scrunched back into her seat, feet sliding forward and chin nearing the table top. Wesley understood why the Statute was in place, of course. But she also knew how muggles could adapt to the knowledge when necessary, like Grandma and Grandpa Lawrence. If only they were allowed little, itty bitty spells to help, then surely - surely nothing bad could happen. It would be a like a wonderful, secret present that only they knew about. Why be able to perform magic if no one received any benefit from it?

Chisato was excited for this class, being raised in a pureblood household the only knowledge of the Muggles she had was what she had seen in anime and read in manga. Although she wasn't sure how accurate that was to what real life was like and that's why she raised her hand.
"K..Konichwa, my name is Chisato and my question is how accurate is the portrayal of Muggles on the shows on the television?"
Living with a bunch of muggles in a very tight knit community there wasn't a lot that Mia didn't know about them. So she saw no reason to ask about them in general. What she did want to know however was why there was such a strong emphasis on them this term, particularly the statute.
She raised her hand in the air. "Professor? Mr Gevrik said he was here to help make a safe environment for us all. So does that mean we are gonna work with muggles or against them?"

Right after Rex raised his hand Kyle raised hers. She nodded and listened intently to what he was saying he did after all have a good point.
Kyle had been sitting in the back of the room quietly, raising her hand before she spoke, "Kyle Manning I was wondering if we could well cover travel and the safety and lack there of in muggle means of traveling." She asked, her eyes big-blue-eyes showing nothing but her intent on learning. She wasn't an idiot she wanted to understand how safe it was or unsafe it was to fly over seas in a big metal thing.

For the girl who mentioned cooties, Freds couldn't help an inward wry smile. Some things were exactly the same. He leaned forward in his chair and eyed the younger student. “We're all human. Don't we share the same illness and disease?" He replied completely deadpan. "Cooties exists.. but it's more rampant among females in the muggle world.” He winked at her and sat back, a small smirk in place on his face as another boy protested. He raised his hand. “Alfred.. er.. Freddie Broadmoor. ..Professor, I'd like to know your theory on WHY some of us are gifted magically and some of us aren't?" He asked softly, lowering his hand. If it's to do with evolution and magic has died out in some of us because it's not necessary to our existence as humans.. or whether some other forces are at work.”
Was that even alright to ask? Or could it be deemed as disrespectful to these people to suggest that they weren't as evolved as muggles. He swallowed and glanced at Trixie. It wasn't intended that way. He was just interested to hear what the Professor, an expert in this stuff, had to say. He looked back at the Zookara expectantly.
Ahem, Jake couldn't help but raise his hand again at what someone had said. A Hufflepuff. Why were his housemates suspicious?
"Jake... again. And mate," he added, turning to the boy. "Mr. Gevrik is here for exactly what he's told us. I dunno if it's to do with muggles but whatever. But he's here... to make changes as well. That's why he's, like, in every classroom."
Jake let a silence fall.

Elle deep breathed and sighed. Muggle Studies... again. Not that she dislike this class. She just didn't like to be reminded of how she was once endlessly preached by those mudbloods about how she was a freak for bringing trouble and unusual things to happen around her. The past is the past, she reminded herself. Now, she had many friends who had the same problem as her. Who cares about them?? The First Year still listened attentively to class.
But sometimes, she would be gazing at something or staring out the window. No one could blame her. Elle loved school but disliked being reminded of bad memories. She sort of despised muggles. Tinsy bit. Wait, more than a tinsy bit..
"Professor, do all muggles find budding witches and wizards weird and crazy? Those.. people at my school do nothing but insult me, because everything unusual happens when I'm around.. But I'm sure every one of us has experienced that?" She asked politely.
Jaina had to admit to herself this class was quite amusing! She loved listening to all the purebloods, halfbloods, and mixbloods discuss the muggleborns world. This was too amusing. A smile spread across her face. This was going to be interesting.
Come out come out Mr. Gevriiiiiiiiiik...
Neptune turned to Jake and gave his arm an affectionate little pat. Because she could. And maybe because she sensed he needed it. He had so many opinions and smart things to say... Sometimes she even paid attention, too.
ANYWAY.
"Professor," no DOUBTS he remembered her. Giggle. "Can I answer Salander's question? Because EVERYONE knows that cooties originate in males. If a girl has them, it's only because some boy has passed them on to her. And I'm pretty sure by 14 or so we've all outgrown cooties." Honestly. HONESTLY Lexi. Neptune so gave her a look.
What was this class about again? She really only came to sit with Jake and stare at Professor Z. Prettiest. Man. At. Hogwarts. If HE had cooties... sign this Bott up! Mental!giggles!
Satine glanced around the room listening to the various students' questions. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at some of the questions. Especially the students that had attended Muggle Studies asking outrageous questions about if a Muggle did this or that...seriously...these kids just needed to get...out...more...and that brought her to an idea.
She raised her hand, "Satine Farris, Sixth Year Ravvie, sir." she paused and then continued, "I'm listening to all of these questions and I have an odd idea sir. It seems that some people have turned muggles into almost mythical beings...would it be possible for us to...well I don't know...take a field trip to England or something so that those that haven't been around muggles will see that they aren't as crazy and clueless as some peeps think they are..." in her head she couldn't figure out any other way for these peeps to understand that muggles were just like them just without magic....I mean some of these questions were just ridiculous.
Listening to all the ideas that were popping up in the other stdudents heas, the girl thought about muggles. They were cool people, really.Managing their life without using maigc, really impressing.Fee would probably not last one day without her wand."Maybe its because some muggles do actually know wizards and witches excist",she stated,"i always wondered how they could it figure out."

Did someone just SNORT at her? The Slytherin stared at the younger students who was trying as hard as she could, NOT to giggle at her comment. But she DIDN'T know what it was! There was no unity-- how could there be when muggles were kept in such ignorant bliss about the wizarding world-- and Freddie, quite understandably, felt he belonged among 'them', not 'us'. He felt like an intruder just sitting here taking a class called 'Muggle Studies'. He WAS a muggle.. or at least had been up until under a year ago.
Hang on one sec.. Muggles could be in danger? His blue-grey eyes fixed themselves upon the girl who said that. Why? What possible reason was there? Unless--but his attention was drawn away when the hot blonde girl sitting next to him asked a ridiculous question. He half coughed, half laughed. Jeez, he really should have explained to her, shouldn't he? He turned and looked at her to see her smiling brightly at him. “You couldn't just wait and see?” He whispered, his eyes glinting with mirth.

Weren't they.. a little old for that?
It was pretty clear to the blonde that Freddie was feeling uncomfortable here in a lesson in which they were discussing what he always thought he had been. She glanced sideways again, biting her lip. She didn't like him feeling that way, he was one of them now and there wasn't exactly a lot he could do about it. And she was resisting the urge to say something to him. Trix sighed as she turned back to the front, waiting for Jeremy's answer to his question.
But it wasn't long until she heard laughing beside her. WHAT? Her question was perfectly normal wasn't it? He asked whether there were any questions, and well Trix DID have one, that one. She faked a glare at the snort before looking totally innocently at Freddie. "Well you weren't going to explain it to me, I decided it would be the best time to ask" she whispered back, focusing her attention on everyone else so it didn't look like she was chatting. "Why you still planning on taking me?" she flickered her eyes to him with a smirk.
Freddie was talking more than she expected, but that was kinda expected, it was probably the perfect lesson for him. But his question, and comment, was kinda unexpected. Evolution? So was he saying that Muggles were better than they were. Her attention was drawn to the fact he was glancing at her. She looked back, a kinda confused frown on her face. What WAS that supposed to mean? "So Muggles are better now are they?" she mumbled under her breath, loud enough for people to hear however. If he was saying they didn't NEED the magical ability, it would appear that way.

He turned his head at another boy who commented about the cooties, then pointed to agree, smirking at Lexi. Ha! See? He was right. And someone agreed with him.
Then the boy's next question got him thinking "Professor, to follow-up on Freddie's question there... do you think us Wizards are actually the next step in human evolution?...."because he really doesnt want to think nature has slated him for extinction ".... you know the same way as cavemen eventually died out to be replaced by modern humans?"

Oh no, another boys-have-cooties supporter "N-No way! Miss uhm...." Runes girl. Jakey's friend. Jimmy's.... whatever. "...I'd respectfully disagree. Like Freddie there said, girls have it more often from sharing hairbrushes and other... uh personal stuff then pass it off to guys when they're with them." then added quietly "... and you dont outgrow cooties they just take on another disgusting form when you're older." *shudders*

NepTOOOOOOOOOOOOON.
She was like... THERE. Jake liked that.
But then his eyes widened slightly in fear and he looked at Neptune, all seriously serious. "Do I have cooties?"
He was worried.
Was this a new strain of deadly flu that only boys could carry? Was he ENDANGERING Neptune?! "Am I endangering you?!"

Hmmm...
Evelyn starrreeeed at everyone, mostly from her desk near the back, tapping a quill silently on her desk as she always did while a conversation was starting up; yet this one actually interested her. WHY were their lessons mostly on muggles this term? SHE’D definitely like to know that, yet others already had asked such a question so there was no need to really repeat them now was there?
…
Of course there was. Just to put an emphasis on the question of WHY they were being taught about muggle stuff even though they weren’t in muggle studies class. She’d like to know that.
