A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.

In front of each set of shelves is a small desk with a jar of billywig stingers on it. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.

You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

"Dark arts and their forbidden secrets?" Emily read. She turned to Nika. "This dosn't look like a typical school book. I think it may have come from the restricted section."
But it coudn't have. The library was so organized, it would have been placed back where it had come from. But if it hadn't, she better put it down before she looked like she had taken it!

Emily looked from the book to Nika and back to the book.
It was strange, but holding this book just didn't... feel right.
"Exactly. The library sheleves are so organized, and the librarian would noitice if anyone went into the restricted section."
She brushed more dust off the cover, so the big gold letters were visable clearly.
Without even consulting Nika, she opened to the contents. It coudn't hurt to take a peak right?

"Hmmm... I don't know why anyone would stick something in here. Especially if it's just plain parchment." Nika thought for a minute. Well unless it contained writing, but the parchment was blank. Hmm maybe invisible ink. "This parchment does look extremely old." Extremely old. Like a hundred years ago old. Nika drew her attention away from the parchment for a minute and glanced at the book. Wow. they don't have books like that in normal libraries. But then again Hogwarts wasn't a normal place. "This looks like it wouldn't belong here, but why is it here. Do you think it was put here by mistake?" Nika looked at emily. "Well I suppose we should bring it to the Librarian." They did call the people who worked here librarians, right? Wizard things confused Nika. "Maybe we can look at it for a bit longer though and see what it's about?" Nika didn't want to give the book back, but she knew it was the right thing to do.

She turned to that chapter while answering Nikas question.
"I dunno if it was a mistake. It could have been left for someone, or placed her so someone could find it..."
That's when she realised, this book was probably full of dark magic.
Wait? What had Nika said? The librarian?
"What? No, we carn't give it to her! It might look like we've taken it! I hear she's very strict."
Wow, she seemed very selfish all of a sudden. Mabye it was the book?
'Dark magic is extreamly powerful and must only be used to gain power and cause pain' This book was scaring her a bit.
'Mudbloods are perfect practice as they no nothing of our world and cannot defend themselves...'Emily slammed the book shut. This was horrible!
"Maybe we should... just leave it, where we f-found it?" she suggested. She wanted to read on, yet she didn't if know what she means.

"Are you sure Emily?" Sure Nika was a bit scared of the librarian, but it would be the right thing to do to turn it in. And if she didn't believe them they were wizards right? Shouldn't there be some truth telling spell or potion or something? "Well if we are telling the truth she can't take points away from us and she can't get us into trouble can she?

Emily returned Nika's shocked face. She hadn't really expected anything to show up! Her sister had tought her that spell to show invisable writing, but she'd never used it... until now.

Maybe ordering books in the muggle world was different? "I am not sure what we should do about this. Do you think it was really meant to be put here? I would think by the looks of it that it should belong in the restricted section." Nika tried to think of why it would have been placed in the wrong spot. "Maybe someone needed it and they came to this section to get another book to and they left this book here?," She pointed at the book in Emily's hands. Nika thought hard, the right thing to do? Turn the book in? Or leave it here? Hmm... Maybe we should ask the lady who works here," librarian? "If the book was meant to be placed in this section. And we could tell her that we found it and we weren't sure what it was about and by reading the first page we figured that it was misplaced." Nika looked at Emily with anticipation. "Or maybe. We are just overreacting and this book was simply meant to be here. And for that reason we should just let it be. I mean we are only first years. How are we supposed to know if it is a bad book or not?" right?

Nika wasn't quite sure about telling the librarian person about the book. She started having second thoughts. What if they did get into trouble. She would hate to loose points for Gryffindor. "Emily are you sure about this?" Nika looked at the ground she didn't really want to be the one holding the book.

"Well we're gonna have to stop changing our minds! We have to do something with it!" she walked in a circle for a bit, then looked back at Nika.
"How about we tell that ministry guy that works here? Gevrik? I went to the meet and greet he held, and he seemed alright. He said if we ever had any problems we can go talk to him anytime."
It was a long shot, but he'd probably not get mad like other teachers, especially the librarian.

Emily tried to give her a reasuring smile. "Hey, it'll be fine!"
She put the book at the back of the shelf, and covered it up with some other books. "Just so no-one else will find it" she told Nika, then checked her pocket for the note. It was still there.
"Well, lets go see him. I think his office is next to the headmasters."
She hoped he would take it seriously. They were genually worried about what this note might mean.

Ellie had just come in from the lake, which was frozen by the way. She shivered when the warm air hit her, but it felt nice. She began wandering through bookshelves, looking for no book in particular, just an interesting one. She pulled an astronomy book out, but another one close to it slipped off the shelf and hit the floor.
