A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk with a jar of billywig stingers on it. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

"So, you're in your sixth year right?" he asked to keep the conversation going. Even though he already knew the answer. Iris nodded at the boy and smiled. Um.... Now what? The prefect took another glance at her books.
Looking at Alex, Iris cocked her eyebrow slightly at his expression. Did he think that she was insane or something, for studying something that wasn't to do with school?
... Probably. "So... You're just in the library for the heck of it?" She asked, simply. By the looks of it, he had something on his mind. Maybe the library was just somewhere he liked being? Just as how Iris likes being in the pumpkin patch.
And... he knows her year, too? ... Oooohkay. Either this kid's a mind reader, or a stalker. PLEASE let it be the former! (Or... y'know, the logical. There's the Who's Who thing in the common room. He might've read it.) "Yeah... I'm a Sixth year." Iris frowned. "Don't expect me to be able to guess your year like that, though." She said, grinning.

Selina returned the two books to the shelves that she was reading. Not that she was not interested, but after spending the afternoon in the library she was done. What had happened in the Common Room had prompted her to relocate to the library. Rafe and Derian and Heather had caused quite a stir of drama. She had been looking for Elektra since then trying to tell her what had occurred but no such luck. So Selina went back to looking for a book on Quidditch.

Rafe had mounds of books stacked up all around him. It looked like he had a cubicle of books surrounding him. Rafe had his head buried in a book on Zeus and Greek mythology. He wasn't really paying much attention to what people were saying that was until he heard his name or at least someone sounded like they said his name. Rafe still wasn't visible due to the fort of books surrounding him, but he piped up and asked, "Did someone mention Rafe?"

He may have been older than she but that did not warrant his mockery and attitude. When they had first met she had thought that he was so nice and sweat. But when he interacted with his brother and everytime after since he had not been approachable or nice. It was a shame, because he had a good sense of humor. Also, she did not know if he knew about his condition, but she would not excuse his behavior.
Pulling a red strand of hair out of her face she looked at Elektra and replied, "Elektra do you hear that annoying buzzing noise? It sounds like it's saying I ease drop on first years."
