A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk with a jar of billywig stingers on it. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

However, she also has been working in this job for decades and maybe she is familiar with all the heads of these departments." He said flipping the book back to the page Kurumi had seen her father and showing it to her. "You see, my father has been assisting her since he lives in London now, and every so often all of the members of the English embassy meet to report their status. Perhaps she might know who your father is." And if she did he would probably have to sell his cheeks for answers.

Alex walked into the library and let out a small sigh of relief when he was surrounded by a comfortable silence. It wasn't like him to want calmness around him but the Hogwarts atmosphere was a lot to take in especially without his best friend by his side. He scanned the shelves seemingly uninterested, his mind was elsewhere but what else could you do in a library really?

The prefect looked back to the boy that she'd just smiled at when he spoke up. What was he apologising for? He was only being curious. Hehe. With a shy smile, Iris nodded. "Um... Yeah, I am." Even though she'd been a prefect for a year now, it still always made her go all shy and embarrassed whenever someone asked her about the badge. Could she not, like, be an undercover prefect or something? It'd make these things so much easier for Iris. The blonde girl eyed the boy awkwardly. Well... Now what?

"No not really." he admitted with a grin and scratched his neck. Nope, he was just a random dude scanning the library shelves. He should have lied. "So, you're in your sixth year right?" he asked to keep the conversation going. Even though he already knew the answer.

Vashti had come to the library, searching for some answers to some of the things she'd read in the Quibbler. Sure, these books might not be written about current events since most were written anywhere from a few to a hundred years ago. But looking for similar things would certainly help, she thought. After all, history tended to repeat itself. She had the Quibbler folded in a pocket inside her robes too, to make sure whatever she found actually was similar or would help.
She intently scanned each shelf she moved along, not pay much attention to where she was going or whether anyone else might also be looking at the same shelf. Suddenly, she felt herself bump into someone...

Evangeline found herself coming into the library, again. She just loved reading, and books, and studying. And yes, she was a bit of a nerd sometimes, but she was cool. Totally. She walked over to the bookshelves and her eyes scanned across the various titles.

She yelped unintentionally. She fumbled as the giant book almost flew out of her hands.
