A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk with a jar of billywig stingers on it. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

Aww the library. Just smell the essence of books filled air! T'was a nice smell. Soothing. Calming. So soothing and calming actually that she now felt slightly sleepy. "Relax Marie. We have awhile left." Hmm, would Vinny be mad if they borrowed a few brooms from the broomshed so they could fly around and look for the items!? That would definitely keep her awake.
Why were they in the library anyways? Would Lafay really hide something in here? o_O
Meep! What was what? "What?" She didn't seeee anything! Or at least, what Destiny was pointing at. "The book?"

Relax.
Evelyn wanted her to relax?
Not gonna happen right now. "I'll relax after we have all the items in our bags, not before." Well actually she would relax after the bag full of items and her parchment were delivered back to Lafay. Then she would go find a nice quiet place to relax.
*Glare*
We are glaring at you Destiny.
Marie could instantly smell the chocolate when Destiny spoke. "I'll tell you what that is. That's YOU doing something you shouldn't be doing in the library." Yes, she was talking about eating that chocolate. Where did that girl get that stuff? It was like she had a never ending supply of it coming out of her pores or something.
Looking over at the book that Ev was looking at Marie spotted it... the thing Destiny had been looking at. "No, not the book. That." She said pointing to the things next to the books.
Pulling her parchment back out she looked over the clues. What the heck could that thing go with. Finding a clue that looked like it would fit she pointed it out to the others. "Look, I bet those go with this clue." What other explanation could there be for those being in the library?
Opening her bag she carefully put one it. Even if it wasn't what they were looking for she was taking it. Better to have too many items than not enough at all. After filling out her parchment she stuffed it back in the bag too.
Now to wait for the others to get their item so they could go on to find the next one.

Destiny totally agreed with Evelyn. Marie needed to relax a bit. Hopefully they had to go to the Hospital Wing to retrieve one of the things and if so, she was going to go and get her friend a calming draught. Like she had something much more important to do?
Destiny had a date with a box of chocolate, but was she complaining? Nope, just whining. There is a difference.
Nodding her head, she immediately stopped once Marie said she was doing something she wasn't supposed to be. "I put the chocolate in my mouth outside in the corridor. It isn't my fault I finished in here." Merlin's flapping wings! Marie..CALM DOWN, PLEASE!
She was scary.
But, scary friend aside for a moment..even though Destiny was watching her from the corner of her eye, she walked herself over to the thing that she had spotted and placed one in her bag. It was obviously a clue. Why else would there be so many of them in a library.
Pffft.
"Where we going next? My feet are starting to hurt."

Meh. It wasn't like their lives depended on these items. Just their grade.
Which...their lives depended on.
Huh.
Wait, what?! Destiny STILL had chocolate with her?! She had thought Marie had taken it away in the kitchens. "From now on, eating chocolate at Hogwarts is a sin, and should be avoided at all costs or else you'll lose your soul and have to wear pink tutus for the rest of your soulless life." Mmhmm, she said that allllll very seriously too.
Ohhhhh. THAT thing. What were those anyways? Meep!
After Marie and Destiny took one, and after noticing all the other jars with the same contents in them in the library, Evelyn took a step forward and carefully took one for herself as well, placing it in her bag. THEN...Then she went over and grabbed Destiny's bag away from her.
Evelyn sha'll be carrying it for the trip. Or at least search it for chocolate that is once they were out of the library. "Out of here." THAT'S where they were going next.
Darting in to the Library only to get a LOOK from Ms Donovan slowing down and placing his hands behind his back in a stroll untill he was out of sight then it was hurry up and look, only problem was where to look so when in doubt go to the card catalog ,,,,,,and what do you know in the back of the file was just what he was looking for ,bagging it quick he moves on down his list
Hugo was back again. But not for a scavenger hunt. He NEEDED to learn Ancient Runes. It was his weak spot and he hated weak spots. Hugo nervously gathered some books... The final was coming up and he needed to know what it even was... Come on... He opened a book and readed its contents. How could anyone understand this? He needed some tutoring. NAOW.
Selina ran into the library... quietly. She had learned her lesson from the first weeks of school and had lost house points for her unruly behavior. Respecting the library was important.
She began to wander aimlessly seeing nothing but books. It was hopeless, maybe nothing for Potions was even in the library. Then she saw it. It was so obviously out of place with the entire flow of the library. She went up to the shelf and extracted it and placed it in her bag. Luck was a beautiful thing.
There hadn't been many places to look on this floor, and so finally Spike went into the place he generally avoided - the library. Unlike many Claws, this was definitely not his favourite place to hang out, and the musty smell of books made him shudder slightly. Who would actually want to read all of these?
He skipped along the shelves, unaware that probably wasn't good protocol for a library. It was quicker than walking though, and he wanted out of here as quickly as possible. Why was the place so BIG?
And then he saw them. Phewwww! He actually quite liked the sound of these things, he was sure used in the right way you could have great fun with them. Professor Lafay probably wouldn't agree it was the right way, but oh well. In the bag they went.

Marie rolled her eyes at Destiny. "It doesn't matter where you were when you put the chocolate in your mouth. The point is you had it IN your mouth. Really, can't you just stay away from that stuff for one day?" The girl needed a group... twelve steps on how to avoid the urge to put chocolate in her mouth.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Marie bust out laughing at what Evelyn said. "I think we better go shopping and get that supply of pink tutus now." Yeah, she could see Destiny wearing one before they even finished with this scavenger hunt.
Once she got her laughter under control she started for the door. "Come on Destiny, we're going where Ev said. Out of here. And stop your whining about your feet. If you want I can punch you in the nose and make you forget about your sore feet." Geesh, did the girl have to be so dramatic all the time?

Three items down, only seven more to go.
Riiight.
Destiny may believe some really crazy things, but what just came out of Evelyn's mouth was just way too crazy. There was no way eating chocolate would be a sin. It it was there would be a sign or something. Rolling her very healthy eyes, she turned to walk out of the library when..
..she was being ROBBED!
Evelyn had ROBBED her of her bag. "HEY!" Destiny whined once again, adding a stomp of her foot. She turned to Marie and pointed at HER bag in Evelyn's hand, waiting for her to tell her to give it back, but nooo. Marie decided to put her two knuts in it and also mention the pink tutu's.
HMPH. HMPH. HMPH!
Crossing her arms over her chest, she huffed and stomped her way out of the library, not even bothering to comment on the nose punching.
If she got punched, Marie WOULD be coughing up hairballs for the next five years.

Cedric never expected that a Library could contain potions ingredients, such and such. But then again, it was a Scavenger hunt, and wasn't the items that were for a hunt sneakily placed on the most unlikeliest places? Most likely.
He walked through the narrow aisles of bookshelves, his eyes flicking from a shelve to another. With these countless books, how could he find the thing he was searching for? Rummage each book, maybe? For sheer hope that the something he needed was flattened and placed in between of books pages? That was pathetic, of course.
Cedric's eyes accidentally landed on a desk from looking above the shelves... and there, there was a jar of something... and that sudden exploration made him heave a sigh of relief.
Taking a piece from the jar, he scratched a number off his list and left the place. He got lots to find. He wasn't even halfway through.
Books. Books were important were they not. In fact, so important that one could easily say that it was something you needed to brew a potion. Right?
Yes, it made sense. At least for the moment.
Nodding her head to in agreement to her thoughts, Ivory shuffled into the library on quick feet heading directly to the library bookshelves. Surely Professor Lafay could've easily hidden more than a dozen Potion manuals in plain sight. Maybe among other Potion books?
Slim finger running down the spines of the books, she skimmed over the titles. "P...P...P...Pa...Pl...Po!"
Slowing down now she slowly read over the various textbooks and encyclopedias not seeing any multitude of one specific book. After a few minutes of just-to-make-sure checking, she expelled a sigh that sent her bangs flying in wisps out of her eyes. Leaning against the back shelf, she tipped her head back in thought. If she was the Professor...where would she hide-
"Wha-" Surprised at the cold un-book or nonwooden-like texture of the shelf behind her, Ivory spun around quickly. Eyes lighting up, she clapped her hands together excitedly. Well, what do you know. Tugging on one of her gloves that was conveniently poking out of her pocket, she twisted open the jar and delicately picked out one from the contents and added it to her satchel of scavenger hunt items. Success.
She knew there was a reason she loved the library.

Noticed something peculiar sitting on the desks. Is this what she thought it was? YES! Another item found! Nika put a check by one of the numbers on her sheet and made her way out of the library to look for more items.

He loved hanging out in the Library, really, and even more so since he had other things to do besides finding out objects. If all else failed, then he'd be taking out a book to read while trying to complete Lafay's task.
It was brilliant! It didn't matter if he found something or not, he'll be taking something he cherished even more. A book. GRIN.
If anyone had told Mr. Lockhart that he'll be spending less than five minutes in the Library this year, then he would've laughed at whoever said that in their faces, since he's never spend so little a time inside this marvelous room.
But then, he stared at the object in front of him, in front of the bookshelf.
GRIN.
He'd found it.
Well, he'd found it IF that was something Lafay had appointed them to find between all the things in the list.
If that were the case....then AWESOME. So, he grabbed it and eyed it one more time, as if making sure this was what was needed and then off to the bag the item went.
Now...he walked, rather fast, away from the Library.
Kyle walked into the library her mind set on finding what she needed. There she found it, right in the middle of the bookshelf, a piece of paper with lovely lovely instructions on it. "Thank you" she smiled as she picked it up and placed it in her bag.
Something you put ingredients in. An Ingredient found in Polyjuice Potion.
Something you need to brew a potion An Ingredient that by itself is poisonous
Something to keep you safe An ingredient that will make you happy and fly Something to turn your potion in with
Something that can save your life Something that controls your potion Something potions related, black, white and read

He had enjoyed the library before. It was quiet and peaceful. Nonthreatening and comforting. Now however, as he slipped between the bookshelves, he couldn't help but feel closed in. Constricted in space and time. And he couldn't keep from glancing over his shoulder. While the sensation from the Spirit room was gone, he couldn't shake the feeling of someone following him, watching his back. Even the otter that bounded along beside his quick steps held little comfort.
Occasionally the patronus would glance up at him, as if to make sure he was okay, as if to ask if he wanted it to stay. He didn't know why it was staying. Perhaps it was his fear that kept the spell going, the sweat that trickled down his back and the flutter of his heart that made breathing a difficult endeavor. Whatever it was, he wasn't releasing it anytime soon. He wasn't relinquishing his grip on his wand. Hopefully no one decided to jump out and surprise him. He really wasn't sure he knew how he would react, but there would likely be a spell involved and that knowledge only unsettled him more. Especially given it was knowledge he knew he wouldn't be able to change until he relinquished his hold on the patronus. He just hoped he'd be able to before he returned to the potions classroom; he didn't need Lafay seeing him scared out of his mind.
Another shake of his head had him trying to focus his attention back to the task at hand, to trying to ignore the pressing silence and the small noises and sounds that flickered as white noise around him. All of a sudden, it was all unnerving. Distracting. Unsettling. Needless to say, he didn't actually recognize the contents of the jars at each bookshelf, even when he peered into them. Somehow, the connection was fried between recognition and relationship to the parchment in his pocket. It was only on the second last bookshelf, when he forced his mind back to concentration for as long as he could, that he realized what he had been missing.
Billywig stingers. Levitation. Giddyness. He could use the second. The first he would rather avoid. And the stinging he really didn't want. One leech was enough. He didn't need to be stung by something else. It would be good in a potion though.
He blinked. Then dropped his head on the shelf beside the Billywig container as his hand fished in his pocket. The patronus peered up at him with mild concern as he lifted his head slightly, just enough to glance down at the parchment in his hand. Ingredient of happiness and flotation. Billywig.
With a heavy sigh and an unsteady breath back in, he made short work of gathering the item, being careful on the handling as he removed it from the jar and placed it in the bag. And quicker than lightening, he was on his way out of the library. Out of the unsettling silence.

He grinned as she pulled him off her desk. "You are good," he chuckled. "I get lost real easy." He batted his eyes, too, for added effect.
Kimber glimpsed over her shoulder, making sure Chad was following close behind. When they reached the right section, she took his hand and leaned up against the shelves with a smile. "Now that I've gotten you here, is there anything special that I can help you find?"

"Chad, I swear you've just read my mind," she said, slumping further against the shelves with a tired sigh. "Is it just me or have the days started to drag on and on?"
She turned her head towards him and grinned. "Make summer break hurry up and get here already."

Yeah, no... Jake was right. He couldn't find any book other than the ones he'd already read. He wanted to check in the Restricted Sectionnnnnn /whining.
Turning the corner to the Foreign Languages, Jake was instantly met with the hand hold, shelf-leaning couple.
Now that was odd... weren't they arguing or something a second ago? What a quick reconcilliation.
Because Jake had had experiences of being shouted at when walking up to people who were holding hands and talking in private (something about ruining a moment?), he decided to hang back a little bit. He had absolutely no knowledge of either staff member, wasn't even sure he knew their names... so disrupting them would be stupid. Yup.
Sooooooooo, for the moment, Jake turned to look at the books on the shelves. In truth, these were ones he hadn't read, because he only knew English, and of course snippets of Latin for spellwork. Maybe Latin would be a good one to learn properly; Jake tapped the spine of one of the books... yes Latin would be good.

Kimber looked over at Chad and raised a skeptical eyebrow. "I wouldn't be so sure about that," she said, returning his gentle hand squeeze.
Hearing someone approach, she turned her head to the other side and saw that the boy from the reference desk had returned. Apparently, having had no luck.
"Looks like break time is over," she said, straightening her posture.

"Nothing in the History books, huh?" she asked, taking a few quiet steps towards the student. "Maybe there is one more place we could try," she offered. "But... I would have to escort you and the Library is a bit busy right now..." Though maybe he wouldn't mind waiting just a few hours.

"I can wait, ma'am," Jake, who had been checking for any acknowledgement out of the corner of his eye, said softly. Since it was, like... a library at all. "It's not too urgent... just can't exactly have another look in here next year and all..." And he needed to read the book before term ended. "Would it be better if I came back a little later today?"
