Humpbacked Witch Statue
 

A secret corridor could be accessed behind the statue which led to Honeydukes in Hogsmeade but, it has long since been blocked off, to deny students the access they so greatly desired.

Emily was on the third floor.
'How did that happen?' she thought.
She was just exploring the castle, and had let her legs carry her where they wanted. Now, she was face to face with a wierd statue of a witch with a humpback.
"Wierd..." she said to herself and tapped it with her wand. Mabye it would do something?
No. The statue just stood there.
'Boring' Emily though.
She tapped the statue again with her wand. "Open sesame!" she announced and smiled to herself. At least no-one was around to see her acting wierd...

A girl was talking to a statue and hitting it with her wand. How peculiar. "Um, excuse me, do you need help?" She asked cautiously. Hitting a statue was never normal. Who knew the state this girl was in.

"Oh..." Emily said turning around. A voice. A girl. Oh no...
"Um, no I'm fine..." she blushed putting her wand in her pocket "I was... just being..." Well, wierd was one word, herself another.
"I was being wierd really. But that's me. I'm Emily" she said turning red.
She was such an idiot!

Zoe walked through the third floor until she came across two girls talking by a strange statue of a humpbacked witch.

"Hi!" she said, smiling. Maybe she could make some new friends.

Emily again blushed as another girl came up to her. Great! Soon the whole school would think she was crazy!
"Hi" she said to the girl "And if you were wondering what I was doing, I was being wierd. That's who I am. And if you wern't... I'm Emily"

Great. The girl might have not even seen her being wierd. Now everyone would think she was some kind of psycho child. Well done Emily, well done.

Zoe chuckled. What was she talking about? "I don't think you're weird! I'm Zoe, by the way. Nice to meet you, Emily! Are you a first year?"

It would be pretty embarrassing if the girl wasn't a first year, but she looked around Zoe's age so she thought she'd ask anyway!

'At least one person dosn't' she thought
"Nice to meet you Zoe! And yeah I'm a first year Gryffindor..." always the need to say her house "What about you?"
Emily hadn't seen this girl before, so thought she was probably in another house. Yey! More friends, from different houses this time!

"Hello Emily! I'm weird too so you don't have to blush so bad. Life would be boring if people weren't weird!" Anna stuck out her hand to shake. "So why WERE you hitting the statue?"


anna had starte staring off into space as they talked. (she did this often) "Oh, Hai by the way! I'm Anna"

Emily took the girls hand and the shook. "Nice to meet a fellow wierd person!" she laughed
"Hitting the statue? Oh well..." she has started to blush again "my sister said their used to be a passage way behind here. But I think it's either been sealed, or she was making it up."
Yep, her sister would do something like that.

Zoe chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm weird too," she said with a grin. I'm a first year as well, but I'm in Slytherin," Zoe replied, nodding her head slightly at the fact that she had gotten the girl's year correct. "Were you trying to open the passageway? My brother told me there used to be one here, but they closed it up a looong time ago. I wish it was still here though!" she said, shrugging her shoulders sadly.

"Hi, Anna! I'm Zoe. Nice to meet you!" she smiled, holding out her hand to shake.

"Slytherin? Awesome! My cousin was in that house, and I would have probably ended up there, if I wasn't in Gryffindor." she laughed. They had no idea what she was talking about.
Wait!?!? There had been a passageway there?
"I KNEW IT!" she shouted, jumping up in the air.
"Woops. Sorry if I shocked you just there. But my sister was right then! There used to be a passageway behind this!" she patted the statue.
Good to know she was right. Sad to know it was closed up. So she wasn't totally crazy!

Zoe laughed out loud at the girl's craziness. "Yeah, and I probably would have been in Gryffindor if I wasn't in Slytherin. My mom was Gryffindor but my dad, my brother, and I have all been Slytherin," she said, a little proudly. "So you know this used to lead straight into Hogsmeade? I think it was under Honeydukes, is what my brother said. I can't wait till' third year. It's gonna be so much fun to be able to go there!"

"Oh, so are you a pure-blood?" This seemed a personal question, but Emily was just happy to finally have met someone who already knew about the wizarding world! Her other friend(s) were muggle-born.

"Really? Wow. We could just sneak to the shop anytime we wanted for sweets! Imagine: All the sugar quills we could eat!"
She loved sugar quills! They were her favourite sweet!
"Yeah, Hogsmede will be fun! My sisters given me butterbeer before, and it's sooooo tasty!"

"May have been. I heard about quite a few passages leading elsewhere being blocked whether naturally, or magically for our "Safety". Personally I think they just don't want us to have any fun." She said. This actually made her mad enough to kick the poop statue. School was all about sneaking around and breaking rules right?


Anna took her hand and shook it. (None of that weak griped flailing about for her! No sir!) "So what do YOU think this thing is here for? Surely not decoration! how decorative would that be?"

Emily laughed "Yep, school is about learning, but we'd have much more fun finding these passageways."
She'd love to find one herself. It would be so fun!
"So I see your a fellow Gryffindor?" she said smiling at the girl. Why were all the people she seemed to know Gryffindors? Not that she was complaining, but it would be nice to have friends from other houses.

"Yeah. There are certainly a lot of us running around. Personally I am curious as to how I became one. I thought I'd be a raven or a snakie for sure." She said.

(OOC: sorry its a short and not very thoughtful response. I am WAY to tired ro function today!)

"Me too! My mam was a ravenclaw, my cousin a Slytherin and my sister a gryffindor."
She pulled at her sleave. She didn't know what to say now.
"Uh... Have you been to any lessons yet? They seem to be very... muggle related. Don't they? Not that that's a bad thing! It's just very strange."
She seemed to be asking that question to everyone reasently.
As well as reasearching it in the library with Nika. Wow, she was obsessed! Well curious mostly...

"Yup, I'm a pureblood. What about you?" she responded.

Zoe made a face. "Eeeew, sugar quills?! They're gross! Myself, I prefer chocolate frogs. Well, actually, anything chocolate, really! I looove chocolate," she said, looking off into the distance, longingly. She then turned back to the girl and laughed. "So, are you liking Hogwarts so far?"

Zoe smiled. "My brother told me it used to be a secret passage to Hogsmeade, but it got closed off a long time ago. I wish it was still open though, don't you? Or are you already a third year and can go to Hogsmeade?"

"Half-blood" Emily said simply "Mam's a witch and me dad's a muggle."
Yep, now is not the time to talk about family.

Emily's mouth dropped open "How can you think sugar quills are gross?!?! They're my favourite! Of course, chocolate is always good too!" she had a shocked face, but was smiling at the same time. Ha ha, she wasn't really mad.

"Oh Hogwarts is great!" she smiled "My sister described it to me in so much detail, it was like I was already here! But it's even better in real life!" Hogwarts was a dream come true! Here she had made friends, got sugar quills and had got away from her family and awful muggle life.
"What about you? And have you been in any lessons? Charms was by far my favourite!"
'Yeah, too many questions at once Em!' she told herself

"I havent been! yeah I could never make it in time and all. My sister was a Slytherin. Yeah she is in the Ministry now. My mum was a Ravenclaw. Dad was a muggle so I've no clue what he'd have been in." Her father had been so happy when she left. Now she wondered if maybe he was jealous that his daughters were witches?

"No," Third year? They thought she was a third year? " I am a second year. I do wish it were open. I could kill for a chocolate bar from the sweets store in Hogsmead." She said. She'd have t go to the kitchens for some chocolate.

"Oh, your a half-blood too?" she said smiling. It was nice to meet someone in the same boat as her.
"Hey. Random question. But have you seen that ministry bloke? He's really creepy. Gervik, I think his name is."
That was such a random question! Well, she was... curious about him.

"There is a Ministry guy here?" she asked looking around. She didn't know of any ministry people being here. Why was he here? "Why is there a ministry guy here" she looked around once more as if he'd be hiding behind a tapestry too. "Yeah I am a half blood, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and German. I'm even related to Daniel Boone from America!" She said proudly. "German on my mum's side and the rest on my dads." No duh the rest was on her dads side! Who else?

She didn't know?
"Oh, yeah. There's a guy working for the ministry here. He's security or something..."
Why they needed security, she didn't know. Hogwarts had had a lot happen to it before, and no security was needed. Strange really.

"Daniel Boone! Wow!" she said. She actually had no idea who he was, but she was just being polite. "And you seem to come from all over the world. My family tree barley leaves England."
She was so lame...

Anna edged away from the statue as if it were going to attack her. Hey with a security risk you never knew! "I don't know who Daniel Boone is...I think some guy who wore animal fur and stuff. And I am NOT Asian so not ALL over the world!" She added. Being from all over the world meant not knowing everywhere you come from. She didn't like that much at all. Plus her mother was often asked if she were Jewish...she wasn't. "I wonder what could create that security risk?" She said eying the hall.
