Welcome to your home away from home! Your common room is your sanctuary. The wide, open room is designed around the fireplace, which sits in the very middle, and will more than likely be your favorite place on cold winter nights.

Flanking off and into the rest of the room, clusters of plush chairs are situated, some in groups of four, some in groups of two, there are also comfortable large couches that might swallow you up, if you're not careful. The decor is, of course, Hufflepuff house colors.

A large solid wood table is set up to the far side of the room, the perfect place to study, and should you find yourself in need of inspiration, portraits of memorable Hufflepuffs such as Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, and the Fat Friar line the walls around you.

Opposite, you will find two tunnels, each going a different way, to the right the tunnel will lead you to the boy's dorms, and to the left, the girl's dorms.

Well, Treyen wasn't going to explain the Divination part to Melanie, because in all fairness, he had no idea what had happened there, "I believe I didn't collide with him at Quidditch, he just didn't move, he stayed there," his tone was pretty monotone by now, the topic wasn't much to his amusement, "in my way," get it? As if Treyen was a King of the sorts and Jake was the one that needed to make room for him.

That made a little more sense. Melanie hadn't the faintest clue why he would distrust Jake, though. She didn't bother to ask. While the girl was curious, she didn't want to be too nosy. Regardless, she couldn't help but comment. "He's always been really nice... I dunno, Treyen, I think you've judged him wrong." she replied, eyebrows drawing in a little. Hufflepuff's were supposed to be trustworthy, after all.

She shook her head. "And I understand what you mean, but you have to take into account that people aren't just going to move out of your way." While she saw what Treyen was trying to say, or at least she thought she did, Melanie still didn't agree with the reasoning. She stood to her feet, and gathered her books up off the ground, before turning to face him again.

"I think I'm going to head to the library." Homework and studying and all. "See you around?" She smiled slightly, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Yeah, that's right," and it was true, people aren't always moving out of one's way, but since it was Jake, then his reasoning was biased. Towards nothing good, of course.

His eyes followed her as she gathered her books and then went to the fireplace for some reason. Fire was a pretty sight. "Yeah, no, it's okay, I'm tired anyway, I should head to sleep," he said, with a nod.

And...probably take care of Thaddeus, too.

Violet walked out of the Girls' Dorms in her pajamas and into the Common Room holding a cup of freshly made Nettle Tea. She took a sip of it and made a light "Mmmm" sound after she did. Violet's hair was tied into a braid that was leaning over her left shoulder. In her other hand was a letter from her Mother and Father. They were telling her how Aurora was feeling completely miserable that her loving owner wasn't home and how much she was missing her, along with how much her whole family was missing her. Violet also discovered that Evelyn was already making her list for what she wanted to buy when she was going to go to Hogwarts. It brought a smile on her face thinking about how much was going on at home and how much she was missing her family. Violet was so into reading her letter that she didn't even notice the pile of books sprawled on the floor that made Violet lose her footing and trip over Matty's books. She made a little yelp as she fell to the floor, but amazingly didn't spill her Nettle Tea at all. Violet then looked over seeing that she had knocked over Matty's work and gasped again. She quickly put her Tea and letter to the side and said apologetically,"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I was not watching where I was going, here I'll fix right away!" Violet immediately began restacking Matty's books exactly the way he had them. She felt so bad and so embarassed that had happened.

Ava Jade wandered back into the common room after visiting the library. Already she felt as if there was no time to just sit back and relax...but now, she was determined to do it. She stepped over near the fireplace and took a seat in front of it, stretching out her hands to feel the warmth on her palms. Ahh... This was exactly what she'd been needing.

It was so good to be back at Hogwarts, but she hadn't imagined that her term would be so busy. She'd made so many new friends and met up with old ones, but since the first few days of classes she hadn't had much opportunity to carry on a good conversation with any of them -- until now, of course. Then she remembered that Kita was sitting right next to her. "Sorry about that," she said laughingly. "I'm so spacey any more! Maybe I need sleep."

Yup, that's how this puff was entering the common room, stomping. And there was nothing anyone could do about it. Sammy was in the complete opposite of a good mood. She found out that she had been KIDNAPPED. The father she only knew for a year was DEAD. Her little sister was UPSET. AND she doesn't know whether or not her ex adoptive family was still, oh you know-ALIVE! *stomp-grumble-stomp* She flooped herself down on an empty seat and sat there, glaring into space. And she hadn't had pasta for a WEEK! WHAT WAS THE WORLD COMING TO?! NO PASTA FOR A WEEK. Seriously. She wondered where Emmy was, Emmy usually helped in these situations. Where was that Emmy? Or even Moggy? Hayden? Seriously? But for now. *glaring into space*

Mmmmhmmm.

Yeah, well, he needed to rest, so, as soon as she left (because his eyes followed her until she was gone) Treyen stood up and then noticed the Potions textbook lying there on the floor. He was going to go after her, in all fairness, she couldn't be too far away, Melanie had just left, but...

...he liked Potions...

...and while he could read this book and many advanced ones in the Library, why not take it along and read a bit of it before sleeping, no? Like, light reading?

He'd give it back tomorrow, though, first thing he'll do. Promise.

And he was tired, he didn't want to run after her, anyway. That's when he took his bag and the Potions textbook and headed towards the dormitory.

Now THAT would be an achievement. Shaking her head, she opened her mouth to say something but stopped. Ava Jade was... zoning out? Kita tilted her head to the side, frowning slightly. Ava Jade did seem to have zoned out. She didn't know what to do. She looked around desperately when she heard Ava Jade speaking again. She smiled and shook her head. "Don't worry about it," she said, "Maybe you do. Either that or it's the fire making you dozy." Kita definitely knew what she was talking about.

"So now that you've forfeited your right to choose the next conversation topic," Ava Jade joked, "I get to choose." She feigned a look of thoughtfulness, touching a finger to her chin. "Boys. Let's talk about boys." Why not? She was sure to say something embarrassing no matter what topic they got onto...

Emmaleigh was in the common room, quickly writing down what she had learned with her conversation with Professor D. She still couldn't believe how confused she had been about Charms and Transfiguration. She was also looking out for the young puff from potions. She had promised her that they would practice the spells they needed to know for potions.

Jaina stared at the girl. She looked familiar, but there were so many different people she met, she wasn't sure who was who or even what house they belonged in. "Are you available now? If your busy, it's ok. I know school gets harder the higher up you go, at least that's what I've heard." Jaina said. She didn't want to impose, but it seemed like everyone at least knew scourgify and she didn't know that one at all!

Kita looked away, trying not to laugh. "You know, i can't even deny that," she said, "Yeah we do. Imagine how awkward it would have been if you were zoning out and i didn't understand why a fire can do that." She looked back at Ava Jade in time to see her make a face. It was enough to get her laughing again. "You don't really," she said, "Ok, maybe you do. But you're a girl. Sometimes these things just... come out." Kita knew this was true; the amount of times she had said something cheesy to a friend.
