Welcome to your home away from home! Your common room is your sanctuary. The wide, open room is designed around the fireplace, which sits in the very middle, and will more than likely be your favorite place on cold winter nights.
Flanking off and into the rest of the room, clusters of plush chairs are situated, some in groups of four, some in groups of two, there are also comfortable large couches that might swallow you up, if you're not careful. The decor is, of course, Hufflepuff house colors.
A large solid wood table is set up to the far side of the room, the perfect place to study, and should you find yourself in need of inspiration, portraits of memorable Hufflepuffs such as Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, and the Fat Friar line the walls around you.
Opposite, you will find two tunnels, each going a different way, to the right the tunnel will lead you to the boy's dorms, and to the left, the girl's dorms.
"No I don't want to go in the cart uncle-..." *Matty mumbled still asleep. He rolled over and sure enough the paper was stuck to his face with ink. He was so tired that he hardly heard the girl trying to wake him up. When he was in that deep of a sleep few things could wake him up.*
Harper entered the common room ata run and dove herself into a chair, almost sliding the chair across the floor itself. She sighed deeply and buried her face into the cushion. Nope, she didn't much care the sight she presented, head buried into the chair, her book bag tugging at her jacket, and her legs in the air off the arm of the chair. No one cared, right? Right. At least she wasn't wearing a skirt.
Little Pretzel waddled onto the top of the chair and looked down at her curiously. Normally she could coo at its adorableness, but not now. SHE NEEDED A GIANT STUFFED ANIMAL, DARN IT!!! Or something to hug tightly. She wasn't sad, exactly, more...just...fuming. A wee bit. Yes, that was it. FUMING.
Where were all the giant teddy bears when she needed them?

Maybelle walked in wearing her new outfit and she thought that her outfit was quite dashing. Although, she hoped no one thought she was a Slytherin. Because...eew Slytherin's are GROSS!! They were mean (well, most of them...she has a few friends who are Slythies...but still...) She found a chair and sat down reading a new book. Maybelle took her locket and opened it to see a small picture of her sister, Alexis and her brother, Zachary. Her mother gave her the locket for her 13th birthday, right before she moved. The locket was VERY important to Maybelle. It was the only thing her mother gave her. Then, her bunny, Slippers came hopping by her. Maybelle pet her ears softly and continued reading her book.

Melanie slipped into the common room, holding some books and other school things in her arms. Letting out a small sigh, she threw herself into one of the armchairs. The Hufflepuff crossed her legs and placed a notebook on her top of them. Scribbled on the first visible page was her Charms assignment, which she stared at for a few seconds, before turning to the next page... a blank one. But the blank page looked too discouraging, so Melanie slammed the notebook shut and opened one of the textbooks at random.
She began to flip through the pages, doing what she considered "revising", for her NEWTS. Unintentionally, Melanie had opened her Potions book... She never was very fond of Potions. A scowl came to the girl's face as she realized she only recognized about half of the concoctions listed in the index... Her own fault, for avoiding Potions lessons in recent terms. Oh Merlin...

Yesterday had been rather tiring, truth be told. And today, a very relaxed day. It was normal Hogwarts, and he'd rather have all busy days than the other ones. Thinking didn't suit him at the moment. Too many issues.
But, er, it was time to head back to the Common Room. Classes were over, and he only had one more homework to take care of.
The Lockhart kid was walking straight to his dormitory to find his papers when...Melanie? And...was that...Potions? Grin.
"Hey, Captain, how have you been?" he asked, his tone indicated a bit of happiness, which was slowly resurfacing after the past weeks. "I like Potions," he said, taking a seat next to Silent Lockhart.
"No I don't want to go in the cart uncle-..." *Matty mumbled still asleep. He rolled over and sure enough the paper was stuck to his face with ink. He was so tired that he hardly heard the girl trying to wake him up. When he was in that deep of a sleep few things could wake him up.*
Effy giggled at the boy's sleepy mumbles. She wondered if he would remember his dream when he woke up, it sounded pretty amusing. She giggled again as she saw the paper stick to his face. Reaching over she tried to peal it off. If he was going to sleep in the common room he should at least be able to do it with a paperless face.
*The paper did come off when the girl grabbed it but a big ink mark was all over Matty's face. Curling up into a sort of ball Matty yawned in his sleep.*
"The gear box is rubbish auntie... crisps wont help..."

Treyen! She needed to talk to him about stuff. He was the perfect excuse to throw her books to the ground and completely disregard what she been doing... And that was exactly what she did. Her books fell to the floor with a loud, satisfying, WHAM!
Melanie smiled slightly at the boy's greeting. "I've been fine." Fine, always fine. Nothing more and nothing less. "And I'm glad to hear someone does. I wish we could share that quality." she replied, with a small sigh. Melanie only did well in the subjects she liked, and vice versa. Naturally, Potions was her worst subject. She would much rather not talk about it, though. Hastily, Melanie changed the subject. "Anyway, how are you? I've been meaning to talk to you lately." Yeah... She still needed to ask him why he felt the need to try to knock Jake from his broom during tryouts.

Whaaat!?
What was wrong with the books? Books were NOT made to be treated that way. Treyen frowned and was about to complain about the abuse of books when she answered him. "Good." And then he nodded only a bit, "I think I inherited it somehow," because Kaika had been pretty good in Potions, "Liking Potions, I mean," and being good at it because he enjoyed it, "Lafay is a great Professor, too," which also helped.
The happiness in his voice sort of disappeared. How was him? The boy actually looked down and pondered on that for a moment, "I guess I'm okay," he finally said, looking up. And she'd been meaning to talk to him? "What about?" not that they couldn't talk every day about whatever popped into their minds, but the way she said it...well, he suspected he wasn't going to like this topic somehow.

Why couldn't she inherit something useful like a fondness for Potions? "Lucky." Treyen must attend more potions lessons than her... the girl's curiosity peaked at what he said about the Potions Professor. What?"Really? I haven't heard a lot of good things about Professor Lafay." Something about setting students on fire? She was definitely a professor Melanie had decided to be wary around.
She tilted her head to the side at his response to her question. He guessed he was okay? Aw, he didn't sound like he was in the best of moods. Melanie frowned slightly. "Well, I guess okay is... okay." Er, yeah. "I was going to ask you about.. uh..." Melanie hesitated, pausing as she looked over at Treyen. It sorta had to be said, didn't it? "You tried to hit a bludger at Jake at the first tryout... and at the last one you flew into him." Yeah, she noticed these things. "It looked intentional to me, Treyen. And I don't know why you did it, but you're lucky all he has is a bloody, possibly broken, nose." There. She said it. A frown still on place on her lips, Melanie watched Treyen carefully for his reaction.

Lucky for the Potions-liking inheritance? Yeah, that was weird. But he guessed he was? The boy did smile, however, he'd been lucky so far in life, soooo, yeah.
Eek! "Oh, yes, I know...Arya wouldn't say the same thing," the fire, and all, but then again, he'd have his jaw taken off last year by Lafay and he was actually grateful the woman made awesome potions and got it back. "She knows her subject, though," that's where the respect came from, probably. If, however, the Healer taught Potions then he'd probably never leave the classroom...actually, it wasn't a good idea, he'd never focus.
Mmmmhmmm. Okay is okay. He could be worse, and wasn't, so he nodded in agreement.
And now he was straightening himself in the chair while she started off with whatever she wanted to--WHAT?! Jake!? Simon had asked about Jake as well! Treyen didn't even bother to show his dislike for the topic, nor for Jake. He sighed. "But Melanie, rule number one on the Beater's Bible is to take out the Seeker, so, Bludgers should be aimed at them first, no?" he sounded almost innocent. ALMOST. "I didn't fly into him on purpose, though, he was in my way." And he'd been in Treyen's way for quite some time this year. He was NOT lying right there.
"I won't lie to you Melanie, I'm not even a good liar," actually, he was, when he wanted to. But lies complicated everything, so, he'd rather tell the truth. "While it is true that I dislike him, it's not like I'll be focusing on killing him, you know? I'd just rather he wouldn't be in my way most of the time," like at Hadley's office, or at Magnus' office, or in Divination! Or the Common Room, the Great Hall, the Pitch, the Grounds, Hogwarts.
It's a good thing Jake was leaving this year.
Now, this will be the first time he'd be glad someone left.

Alex had just woken up from a nap, and to be honest was already ready for another one. Classes were EXHAUSTING, and he just wanted to chill and not have to worry about reading his textbooks. GUH. Reading. He'd had just about enough of that already.
Plopping down on one of the couches, he thumbed through his Care of Magical Creatures book. It was the only one he'd actually consider reading for FUN.

Emmaleigh was on a mission. She had been asked to see if some girls brother was in the common room. She stepped through the door, and scanned the room for a tall guy with brown hair, and brown eyes. There was that kid from the party last term, but he was too old, and not tall enough, Plus she thought his name was Treyen or something. Then her eyes stopped on the back of a brown head, but she realized that it was that Matty guy from after the feast. Not him either.
She was about to ask one of the other boys to check the dorm rooms, until she saw someone sitting on one of the couches. That guy fit all the criteria, maybe he was the one she was looking for? She walked up to him, and asked, "Hey, are you, Alex Greingoth?" She hoped it was, she didn't want to make a fool of herself by getting it wrong.
Kai smiled again at the younger girl, and gave her a little squish, before shrugging once. "It was in Ireland. But my parents moved me here when they found out I had a sister that used to go here... and a load of stuff." It was still all so confusing, the most part being how her father hadn't known.
"I went to muggle school... Before I started the school in Ireland.. and then since January this year, when my parents pulled me out of Ireland." It... well it hadn't been fun.
Belle looked at Kai, and she wanted to give her a hug for some reason. "Would you mind if i hugged you?" she was a hugger after all. "Well what do you like about hogwarts so far?" she asked her.
Jaina came flying into the common room from the kitchen corridor and was totally out of breathe. "Oh my gosh! Belle, quick, firsts dorm!" She went flying by and straight on through to the first year girls dorm.

Alex had just been about to fall asleep and abandon his textbook completely, when someone came up to him asking who he was. Huh, that was odd. Someone was asking for him. Was this a trick?! Had she maybe been sent from some evil Slytherins to prank him?!
Well, one way to find out.
"Erm, yeah...whats up?" he asked, sitting up and rubbing his eyes to try and wake himself up.

Em smiled at the boy, relieved that he was the kid she was looking for. "Um, your sister is out in the corridor. She asked me to to see if you were in here." She paused a moment. That had been all the girl wanted right? To know if he was in here. But that didn't seem right; she wouldn't have been out there waiting if that was the case. "I think she wants to talk to you." the girl added after she had thought through the situation.

Whoa, wait...Sierra was out in the corridor? Actually LOOKING for him? What could she possibly want to talk to him about? Last time he'd checked, they'd been in some sort of odd duel that had come up...at some point. He couldn't even remember anymore. All he knew was, he was ticked.
"Oh, ok, thanks for letting me know," Alex told the girl who'd be nice enough to come get him. He placed his book down on the couch. "Watch that for me for a second?" he asked with a smile before hurrying out into the corridor. WHAT was about to happen outside?

Arya? Hm. She didn't know of this Arya person, but she nodded anyway. "Everyone has a different opinion." In Melanie's opinion, that statement couldn't get any truer. She was pretty opinionated herself... Just not on Professor Lafay, as she hadn't been to enough of her classes to actually form an opinion about her. What Treyen said seemed like common knowledge, though. "I think all of the professors know their subjects pretty well." At least all of the professors at the lessons she'd attended that term... Granted, that wasn't all of them.
Melanie frowned slightly as Treyen pointed out the number one rule of the Beater's Bible. Pffft. As if she didn't already know already... The rule was referenced pretty much all the time, when it came to Quidditch. "I believe the rule is referring to the seeker on the opposing team." Besides, it was tryouts so no one really had an official position. "Nice try, though." Mhmmm.
An eyebrow rose at what he said next, but after a second, Melanie's skeptical expression softened. She wanted to believe him, and she had no reason not to believe him... Not to mention Treyen had a track record for being brutally honest. So, of course she trusted the younger Hufflepuff when he said the collision was unintentional. Melanie had assumed the opposite, as shown by the shock on her face after Treyen flew into Jake... Now, she felt a bit guilty. A small smile forming on her lips, Melanie replied, "I believe you didn't do it on purpose."
Unfortunately, the smile transformed, much too quickly, into another thoughtful frown. The Captain didn't quite understand what Treyen meant when he said Jake was always getting in his way. It wasn't the fact that he disliked him that stuck out in her mind, because, really, everyone was disliked by someone at some point. Disliking someone wasn't uncommon. Melanie had disliked people before, but she'd never felt that someone was always in her way.
She found it rather strange that Treyen did. "How exactly is he always in your way...?" she trailed off, a note of curiosity in her voice.

True. Everyone did. The boy nodded, and almost regretted it as soon as he agreed with his little nod. That actually meant that if she chose not to believe him, then there was nothing he could say to make her think otherwise...because everyone could have different opinions.
At the next thing she said, however, Treyen sort of blushed. Mostly out of embarrassment, because he knew of one "Professor" that didn't know his subject thanks to Emma handing him Gilderoy's St. Mungo's file. "Maybe, at least the ones we know do," he was NOT going to say that Gilderoy Lockhart had been another case. After all, the man did have many talents. Just none about the subject he taught while in Hogwarts.
"Yeah, but I think it's great practice for Jake to deal with Bludgers too, after all, he tries out with 'Seeker' on his mind," he was holding a small smile on his face as he shrugged after saying that. There was nothing he could say that will make it okay, though, especially not to Simon.
And then he beamed. Of course she believed him, and really, he didn't do it on purpose.
It didn't take long for him to frown, it was rather obvious to him that Jake was always there because he had a gift for spotting the older boy. Melanie was probably too much into her own things to notice the people around her. Maybe, probably, perhaps. "Oh, whenever I look into a corridor, he's there, and he was also in Hadley's office and Magnus' as well," he hurried up to say the next, "I had arrived first, by the way," which made him think that perhaps Jake had been following him those couple of times. "I cannot count the Common Room," for he's not here right now, "But, really, he seems to always be wherever I'm at, AND on my way," because the Divination lesson might have had a totally different outcome if Jake hadn't been there.
For instance, he could've partnered up with his second favorite redhead (because Cricket was the first) instead of Jake. That was a WHOLE different thing. For sure.
*Walking into the common room with a bucket in one arm and the other filled with books Matty sat down in front of the fire. The puking pasty sweet he took was stuck to a fever one. He shivered a little in front of the fire and pulled the bucket closer just in case. He opened his pack, pulled out his note book and quill getting to work. Something was going on with Gevrik and this school and he had to make the connection.
While working he dumped out his pack looking for a new quill. Most of his books now lay open on the floor around him. Matty knew that he must look like he had gone a little mad but he didn’t care. He could feel that he was on the edge of something big, but what? There were still a few bits of the puzzle missing. Without those pieces it wouldn’t make sense. Sitting back Matty thought over what he knew and what Gevrik had said at the pub and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Looking over at his astronomy book he started tracing the lines of the constellations with his fingers. His book had fallen open to the page and he mindlessly looked down at it while he thought and mumbled out loud the constellations he was tracing.*
"Capricornus... Translation... The Sea Goat. Carina... Translation... The Keel..."

For sure.
Melanie smiled, not noticing the blush coloring Treyen's cheeks. "Hopefully." she replied, at his comment about the professors. If not, they must be pretty good at pretending like the knew what they were talking about. Hehe.
...The girl sighed. Then she gave Treyen a look, an expression of mild exasperation on her face. He thought Jake needed to get used to dealing with bludgers, eh? That was probably the best justification he could give her, and, still, it didn't sound very convincing. She was sure Jake was accustomed with bludgers and, though it was necessary for everyone trying out to get used to the iron balls, it still didn't make what Treyen did quite alright in her books. A reasonable explanation was all she wanted from the conversation.
The seventh year's eyebrows drew in slightly, as she listened to him explain why he felt that Jake was constantly in his way. Unfortunately, Melanie still didn't quite understand what he meant. Nope. She had another question... Well, questions. "You don't like him because he's always around then?... No offense, but that doesn't seem like the best reason. I mean, it's not as if he's following you..." Er, right? "He can't exactly help being where you are sometimes." Or oftentimes. Whatever. "And you still haven't made it clear how he actually gets in your way...?" Or maybe he did and Melanie just didn't get it?

Meh. Now she was just confused.
Yes. Hopefully? They could be great actors if they didn't know their subject, though. Gilderoy had been an awesome actor too, apparently.
But then...oh, she didn't believe the Bludger part, did she? And he was being one hundred percent honest about that one. Er, well, not exactly. But what he was saying made total sense...to him. Maybe not to Melanie, and certainly not to Jake. Perhaps to Simon it did, if Treyen explained those things to him, of course.
And almost instantly he started to shake his head, "No, no, that's not the reason why I don't like him," he started to say, "I don't like him because--," he stopped and eyed the floor, and no, he was NOT thinking the reason, he was thinking what to say next, "I don't trust him, Melanie, that's all," he said, as he looked up to the girl, or as much up as a chair would allow. "And since I don't like him, then it annoys me that he's there," except now he wasn't. Lucky for Jake.
Well, Treyen wasn't going to explain the Divination part to Melanie, because in all fairness, he had no idea what had happened there, "I believe I didn't collide with him at Quidditch, he just didn't move, he stayed there," his tone was pretty monotone by now, the topic wasn't much to his amusement, "in my way," get it? As if Treyen was a King of the sorts and Jake was the one that needed to make room for him.
