"Sabel Dakest," Greer stated, feeling the need to be formal, to match Sabel's own formal self, "Stop rambling, and explain to me why do males always feel the need to mark their territory? Like dogs?" Because that's what Professor Vindictus and the other man were doing. "Or is it something that old people like Professor Vindictus do? To make themselves feel younger?"
Battle of the egos? Hmmmm.
Sabel's dimples were still more interesting that those old people, however, so McKensie watched them with some interest. While he had all intent and purpose on remaining glued to what was happening at the staff table, Greer's next words had his eyes back to her, his mouth gaping like a guppy and a sudden lack of words occupying his brain. Had she just....? "Professor Vindictus....isn't....old." It was the only thing he could even comprehend saying, the rest of it just had him blinking at her with a complete lack of comprehension. Who was this girl?

Who was this girl? Sabel was, once again, baffled. It was then that Greer realized that this was perhaps the reason why he was not part of the house of the Blue hens and Blue chickens, and that she'd be giving him a map for Christmas--because he appeared lost, too.
"Sure he is," Greer retorted happily, before raising the goblet to her lips, and finishing its contents. "But that's alright because we'll all be old like home someday--just not for a looooong, looooooooooong time. Besides, with age comes wisdom, right?" Greer set down the goblet, and flicked her small hand dismissively, as if the topic itself wasn't important. "Or that's what I've heard anyways." She'd heard a loooot of things, though lately she'd been wondering if they were all true. Anyways! She patted Sabel's shoulder twice, as if trying to console him and snap him out of his shock (Why was he shocked again? Boyyyyys! She should just listen more carefully to Lulu and Janie), and said. "You just won't admit dear Professor Vindictus is old because you are too polite and formal to say so."

He was precious. She wanted to keep him! "What year are you in, Preston?" she asked as she grabbed her goblet and peeked inside. Poo, it was empty.
Lexi errupted in laughter as Jer ruffled her hair and called her adorable and little. Hehe. "Yush! We are going to have Glisseo some stairs or something at first. Make them into a ramp," she said excitedly. Hehe. This was going to OWN.
Laughing at Ivan now she gently nudged him in the ribs. "Yes, I am clumsy. It is genetic though, I am sure of it." True Story. Probably. Heh. Then as Ivan introduced himself to the Hufflepuff boy she smiled brightly at him. He was not being antisocial! Yay for that. Perhaps she would break him out of his little shell yet. Not that he was an introvert so to speak... but yeah, he needed to loosen up some. Quote:

He laughed Keeping one arm around Lexi he smiled at Preston, "I'm a fifth year." Yup poor kid. And from the look on Lexi's face which oddly reminded him of the was she looked at the pygmy puff he had a right to be nervous. He suppressed a chuckle as Lexi felt the need to introduce him again after he'd already done that.
"Hey," he whispered as she nudged him. "Well you aren't that fragile," he said with a smirk and a slight wink. "Better you than me though. I'll just watch and hope you don't break anything," he said with a laugh and another smirk. Was it time to eat soon because he was hungry. Sighing impatiently he leaned over to look at the staff table. Nope it appeared not.

It was the only explanation for the creepy logic and maturity she possessed.
Slowing his blinking rate as she patted his shoulder, he was able to get his thoughts back in order and to some sort of logical sense. "He's...older than us, yes, but he's not incredibly old. And that's being honest. Not polite." Or maybe it was a combination.
Shaking his head he peered at Greer. "You do know that is Professor Vindictus' seat, right? As Deputy to the Headmaster that is his seat and his alone. Like Headmaster Tate's seat is in the center. Whoever that guy is, he doesn't belong in that seat." Unless of course, there had been a change in Deputies, but somehow he didn't think Vindictus would be putting up such a fight if it wasn't his place anymore. "It's not marking territory." Strange way to put things. "It's...politics. A way to display status and respect." His eyes lightened a little bit with a slight fraction of humor. "And females do it too. She then followed his gaze to the staff table and noticed a bit of a kerfuffle commencing up there with Vindi and that creepyish dude. Interesting.
" Hey why are you sighing, babe?" she whispered to Ivan still looking at the staff table. Good Merlin... did anyone have popcorn for the main event up there?

It's not an exclusive practice limited to one side or the other." Greer was completely unaware that perhaps she was being not only inappropriate, but downright disrespectful. She was also completely unaware that the reason Sabel so often appeared baffled was because of said potential and disrespectful remarks. At his words, McKensie shrugged in a manner that indicated she did not really agree with him, but was dropping the subject. "My mum always says that honesty and politeness should go hand in hand because otherwise people's feelings are fragile."
Training her eyes back to the staff table, she tapped her bottom lip with her index finger. "Status and politics?" Her pale eyebrows shot up, attempting to get lost under her curly fringe, "I'm too young to know of that!" Duh. She was only twelve, not even a teenager--and thank Merlin for that.
Pushing aside all thoughts of politics and status because quite frankly, it made her sleepy, Greer looked very seriously at Sabel. "No, we don't. My friends and I are not like that. Do you know of Lulu and Janie? We never fight for spots of anything! We even take turns to use the jungle gym!"
And the jungle gym was serious business. Everyone knew that.

And the jungle gym was serious business. Everyone knew that. "Honesty should come with an attempt at politeness, but when politeness cannot be achieved, the honest truth should still be told." A slight shrugged came off his shoulder. "People don't grow or become strong if they are always treated like China dolls." He wasn't trying to be cynical, or say that people should be deliberately hurt, simply that being protected and sheltered often made for worse outcomes and more pain in the long run.
But now was not the time to think of such things, and he shook his head slightly to clear himself of the memories and focus on Greer's protest. He couldn't help but smile at her honest innocence, and he wasn't about to argue points of biology with her. "Fair enough. Some do then. It would seem you and your friends are superior in your moralities and values of sharing. It is to be commended." Tilting his head, he gave her a playful smile. "You still haven't told me why you asked about my casting abilities. Surely it is not to defend the jungle gym from territorial boys."

Lucy was back to Hogwarts for her fifty year, she was very excited to see the entire new and exciting thing that she would know this year at Hogwarts; she was extremely excited for this year. She really missed Hogwarts when she wasn’t there. But now she was back and wanted to enjoy every moment of her at Hogwarts.
She entered the room and sat at her usual table as she always uses to sit, it was good that no one else had taken her seat, as she would really hate that. She quickly went and sat there and looked around to see what she should drink and then saw orange juice that was her favorite. So she grabbed a glass and pored some in and started drinking with ease.

Then, not being to help herself, she used her hand to cover her mouth as she giggled. "Do you write down these smart quotes and memorize them before leaving your house in case you run into people like me, or are they like some sort of result of hanging out with people like me?" As it was, Greer gave him the thumbs up accompanied with a grin.
But then the grin was dropped, and Greer narrowed her eyes thoughtfully and carefully looked at his smile. And the dimples. Because Sabel was doing veela things, in spite of claiming not to be one. He could not fool her! "Pft! My friends and I use water guns to keep smelly members of your kind away from our domains," Greer informed in a matter-of-fact tone of voice. "We also use them when they try to use the monkey bars without our permission."
For shame. SHAME on them for not asking permission. "Hmmmmmm." Greer narrowed, once more, her eyes at him. "Can I trust you? I'm not sure if I should. Lulu and Janie would not approve on me trusting a boy."

Tilting his head, he rested his elbow on the table and propped his head on his hand. "If you don't think you can trust me, why did you ask me in the first place?" Greer McKensie did not like boys. Greer McKensie was, in fact, constantly wary of boys. They were smelly, and talked too much, and walked around as if they owned the place. How dare they behave like that when it was her place, and Janie's and Lulu's to walk in such a manner! So no, she did not like boys.
So in theory, she did not like Sabel. In theory. And she also did not trust him. She should not trust him. Even if the dimples and the laughter were telling her to do otherwise.
McKensie set her jaw, because boys were still strange.
Especially the Veela ones.
But she would not let him think he was getting to her. NEVER! "I see. So you consider yourself impulsive and careless? Tsk, tsk." Greer allowed herself to look superior and to sport a beam for a moment, before regaining all seriousness, and looking for a way to match his clever answer with a clever one of his own.
She failed, for the most part. "Because asking is the only way of knowing." She shook her head, and made the curls tied with the ribbon, come out of the low ponytail. Dropping her voice so no one would hear, McKensie cupped her hands around her mouth and leaned in closer to him, "Because there are all sort of dangers out there. Half-goblins, kidnappers, and all that. I need proteeeeeeection. Security and safety is in numbers! Don't you know that?" How had he SURIVED this long?

Sophie the female Gryffindor prefect had arrived at Hogwarts and all the thoughts in her head was spinning around like on a roller coaster. What was she meant to do? Patroclus wasn’t anywhere in sight to give her support or advice. Was Sophie supposed to talk to everyone and hold a speech?
Oh, no she wasn’t good at holding speeches they always made her shake like a leaf. And besides she hadn’t exactly planned one either since nobody had instructed her to make one. Right, it was probably best to head for the Gryffindor table and see what was going on, the familiar long table where she had sat many feasts and enjoyed good company and food.
The brunette perched herself in a vacant seat in the middle of the table. That way she could see what was going on up and down the table. Several students where already seated around her but Sophie didn’t know if she should make the first move of interaction or not.
She was a Prefect! Sophie had her shiny badge on her robes and yet felt a bit lost.

Sophie had not been sitting at the table long before she spotted a younger girl who looked scared and lost and all alone. Feeling her badge poke for her to act she fired off a warm smile in the girls direction. "Hello, I’m Sophie, house prefect! Welcome to Gryffindor!" It felt good to start interacting with the other student’s and of course to start living up to her new role. Quote:

Jacob was so excited as it was his first time ever to be in the Great Hall and he was very anxious about his classes tomorrow that he didn't know what to say because if he did he probably would have stammered the whole way through. Jacob decided to just stay quiet for awhile unless someone talked to him first, otherwise he would be likely to not stop.

Smiling, Sabel let another shrug roll of his shoulders. "I consider myself that way and learning to improve, but one has to consider their faults in order to know who they are." His grin only widened at the girl's words about knowledge, a considering expression mixing with his smile. "Asking is one way of knowing. Experience is the other. Words can only tell you so much, and even then they can be falsified. Experiencing something for yourself, well, that is where we learn most of our truths."
Shaking his head a little, he let his hand drop and leaned forward, as if telling his own secret in response to hers. "Well Miss McKensie, I can assure you that whether you find purpose in trusting me or not, you have my protection. No cost, no charge, no favors asked. If you ever need help, I'm always around." Pulling back a little, he gave her a playful wink. "Closet trolls I'm not so good with though." Quote:

It was when he drew back, that he noticed another Gryffie nearing the table, and not just any Gryffie. One of the Prefects. And she looked stark terrified. Sparing a small smile to Greer, he turned slightly to offer a small wave to the girl, reaching for another glass. "Pumpkin juice?" After all, it did seem to be a form of peace offering this time around. Maybe Vindictus should try giving it to the cranky man in his seat; or at least spilling it in his lap so he would have to move.

Hugo took a seat at the Gryffindor table, hoping to blend in a bit and not get kicked off.
Of course, Hugo hoped to be a Gryffindor so he knew how to behave...

Sort of... Katie smiled as she saw her favorite costumer, even though she didn't have shop, but he seemed to love her cupcakes, "Hey Hugo" Katie smiled as she sat down next to him. |
