"I have to agree with Adam on that. Kurumi is so great and you don't know her that well so please don't say anything bad about her. You should actually go and get a cookie, she's real friendly."

As Adam asked about her parental situation Selina looked on intently. It was a shame that her Mum was not that supporting. The sad thing was she was not the only one Selina knew that had parents who did not appreciate magic.

was he being mean or just teasing her. But how can Lea resist the awesome taste of Pea's. "I guess I'll have a few more" while laughing. She took some pea's and mixed them in with her Mashed potatoes. "Oh... I see him... its good to know right." while she said this she had to strain her neck upwards to see the headmaster clearly.

Orlando's face fell, and that was all it took for Katie to frown. That wasn't a good look! Lando, her dearest, sweetest Gryffindor boy that wasn't either of her cousins, was always just.. HAPPY. Nervous at times, Katie supposed (during the earlier years of their friendship, anyway), but never.. not THAT look. And then he asked the question she hadn't expected, one she would have been happy to avoid.

Brushing an unruly curl from her face and tucking it behind her ear, the Hufflepuff looked away for a moment, half-scanning the table for Legend and Mat but mostily trying to come up with a proper answer. Dark eyes traveling back toward Lando, Katie forced her smile to return. "Nothing.. just the usual, argued with someone on the train.. unpleasant," she replied vaguely, waving her hand dismissively at the topic. It wasn't a lie. Katie didn't lie when she could help it, it was partially truthful.. she just left out a whole lot of the story and every little detail.

Fiona walk down towards the Gryffindor table and slid into a seat. I can't believe I'm a Gryffindor! YES!!! Fiona turned and flashed a wide smile at her siblings, who were seated down the table, laughing with their friends. Now, I just need to make some friends and this will be a fantastic beginning to a even more fantastic year!! Let the mischief begin...after dinner. Fiona looked around the table for a friendly face as she reached for some chicken.

"Its complicated," Kurumi sighed flopping back down on the bench. "I'll tell you some other time, I promise. It's a bit long and depressing and we all really ought to be celebrating right now." She smiled and picked up two cups of pumpkin juice and handed one to Selina. "I think you say Cheers in this country," she winked. Her family history was a long one, filled with so many secrets and unknowns. The celebration of the opening feast was no place for this kind of talk.


Kurumi turned her head when she heard Adam and an unfamiliar voice talking about her. Before she could say anything, there was a hand directly in front of her face, which startled her a bit, but she managed not to fall of the bench or spill the pumpkin juice she still held in her hand. "I am," Kurumi replied still in a it of a frazzled state. "It's nice to meet you Elyon." Wait, she had just heard someone say that name. "Oh! I've met your brother, Christopher," she smiled taking the girls hand and shaking it while also adding a head bow. Then Kurumi pointed up to her still dancing Gryffindor House cookies. "Please, have a cookie and I suppose a Welcome to Gryffindor is also in order."

Elyon grinned when he told her about Kurumi. He hoped they could be friends. She sounded like a really awesome girl. And she was passing out cookies! She did love cookies.... "I really hope I can meet her soon, she sounds really awesome!" She looked back down at her plate to get another salad bite.

Suddenly, she heard the word mum. She hoped Adam wasn't talking to her. She looked back up and confirmed her suspicion. He wanted to know about her mum. Elyon suddenly felt like someone just punched her in the gut. Well, that's what she deserved for bringing up her mum. "Well..." She began slowly, "I'm muggleborn, you see. When my older brother got his letter delivered, a professor came to our house to tell us about Hogwarts. My dad thought it was wonderful, he was so excited to have a wizard in the family! My mum on the other hand, freaked out on the professor and my parents got in a huge fight. They're still together, but she hadn't spoken to him since." She sighed and continued. "Mum was praying, begging me not to be a witch. When the I got my letter, she stopped talking to me too. I think she wants to disown us, but our dad won't let her." She blinked back tears and stared into her salad, hoping she wouldn't have to think about her mum again for a really long time.

"Not unless you plan on getting into a good bit of trouble." *Matty said with a smirk. Grabbing some butter he poured some over his own pea's.*
"What classes are you looking forward to most?"

"Okay," Selina said. She could tell when someone wanted to avoid a certain conversation. Kurumi should not have to talk about something she didn't want to. And she knew that they would talk later.

Grabbing the pumpkin juice she smiled and said, "Cheers, mate. To a good term, good friends, and most importantly good Quidditch!" Of course the conversation with Selina always went back to Quidditch.

Sipping on the sweet juice Selina looked up to Kurumi and said, "So, you make cookies... what inspired you to do that?"

"Oh I think muggle studies and Care of Magical Creatures." she said."I love animals and I love to learn more about the muggle world, how about you?" she asked him.

Elyon smiled "Oh you have? That's good! I wonder where he went..." She looked around but didn't see him. She shrugged. "I'll catch up with him later." She noticed that Kurumi half bowed when they shook hands. Huh. Everybody has their quirks. She then looked up at the beautiful Gryffindor cookies and bit into it. Woah. These were amazing. "These are wonderful!" She smiled back up at her and took another bite.

"Even though I am pureblood I grew up as a muggle. But I still enjoy the class. I would have to say Defense Against the Dark Arts I look forward to the most. You need to have a good knowledge of it for what I want to do later."
*He shrugged again when it came to animals. He was very good with them, a little to good but he liked to keep that part of his life unknown.*

"I'm not the best when it comes to animals. I would much rather read a book on them then work with one."

"Baking is something I learned from my mother," Kurumi smiled looking up at the dancing cookies. "It was one of the first things she taught me to do, besides the piano. We would always bake together. It was our time and everything else in the world didn't really seem to matter. My mother, well, she seemed to forget her worries when she was baking with me," Kurumi looked down at Selina. "I guess I keep baking to hold onto that feeling." She remembered her conversation over at the Slytherin table with Hyun. He had asked a similar question and she hadn't had a proper answer for him then. "I guess I want others to feel that joy. When you make something from the heart, those feelings are put into your creation and then others can feel that when they share it." Wow, who knew cookies could be so philosophical?

Kurumi smiled at Selina. "I suppose you've already talked to Simon about Quidditch then?" Selina really seemed to enjoy talking about the sport, almost more than Adam. Kurumi was going to have to do some extra studying on the side about the sport.


"I am sure he is around," Kurumi said looking around the mass of people in the Great Hall. With these numbers, it was hard to tell who was who. "I am glad you like the cookies," Kurumi giggled trying to control her blushing levels. "You can almost always find me in the kitchens baking. You are welcome to come with me sometime if you want."

Humph. She guessed the Gryffindors weren't feeling friendly today. Ellie noticed a Hufflepuff girl come up her and say hi. "Hey there. I'm Ellie, a fourth year." She smiled in response. She stuck her hand out for the girl to shake. She was about to announce her being in Ravenclaw, but... That was obvious.

Elyon smiled, glad to be making another friend. "No problem! I'd love to come, I'm not much of a cook, but I guess I could learn. Adam says your a great teacher!" She was happy to actually be invited somewhere. She smiled as she finished her cookie. Yay for more friends! This year was going to be amazing!

"That's sound fantastic. I mean I think I've never really had anything like what you descibed. No wonder why you are always baking, it sounds like the best feeling in the world. The only thing I can even relate is Quidditch for me."

When she mentioned Simon Selina looked confused, "Who?"

"Oh I love animals but I guess thats not everyones cup of tea." she said. "Oh he likes to read, so do i" she thought. "Defense against the dark arts seems to be interesting as well." she confirmed. "I also like to read, I can read a book a day if I didn't have anything to do." Maybe during the weekends and if she didn't have homework she would have time to read.

Em smiled, at least this girl would talk to her. "Its a pleasure to meet you Ellie. I'm Emmaleigh." she said reaching for the girls hand. "Second year." she added as she shook Ellie's hand. "So were you looking to meet new people at the Gryffendor table too? or were you looking for one of your friends.?" she asked.

"Simon, the Quidditch captain," Kurumi explained taking a sip of her pumpkin juice. Aw, that was good stuff. Maybe she could buy some of it in Hogsmeade...like a year's supply of it.


Kurumi's cheeks flushed and she held onto the tips of her hair the moment she saw them turning pink. Phew, close call on that one. "Adam thinks too highly of me," she said looking over at him and her cheeks burning even brighter. "I try the best I can." Although, she was beginning to think that perhaps teaching was in her future. "So, Elyon, where do you come from? You have a really unique name." It certainly wasn't Japanese.

Selina nodded in acknowledgement, "Oh, of course. Yeah I spoke to him the moment I was sorted. He was the first person I went to. He is really nice. Are you two good friends?"

Fallon made her way over to the Gryffindor table. Once she got there, she realized that she really didn't know anyone seated at this particular table. Well, now seemed like the perfect opportunity to branch out and make some new friends. She looked for a space where she would be able to sit and meet some awesome new people.

Fallon spotted a place and went and sat down. She didn't know if she'd taken someone's seat, but she kind of hoped that she didn't. Didn't want to start off on the wrong foot with someone. On the first day of term no less.

*A smile came to his lips as the subject of books came up.*
"I love books, reading of any kind. Hogwarts has one of the best library's I've ever seen. If we have time I'll show it to you later. It's so large one could and have gotten lost in it's many rows."
*Last term Matty had spent almost all of his time in the library. Mostly to hide away from everyone but not this year. Matthias Gardner was going to enjoy his life, not hide in a dusty corner. He would still read but other things needed to come first.*

"Not good friends," Kurumi said shaking her head. "I sat next to him in a few classes last term. He is rather brilliant."

Ellie smiled, glad for her friendliness. "Nice to meet you too, Emmaleigh." She said. "Well, I was hoping to meet some new friends, but it seems like nobody else was. Except for you, so thanks." she said, laughing a little. Sheesh, it seemed like the Slytherin's were being more friendly these days.

"Really? He was really nice and helpful. When I asked all of my crazy questions he was really patient and answered them all to the best of his knowledge. Every other Captain kind of shrugged me off. But he was really nice." Selina answered thoughtfully.

"So what is your favorite class?"

Kurumi nodded. Simon had to be patient if he was friend with Josh. Speaking of Josh, Kurumi hadn't seen him yet and this was rather disappointing. She really did want to see the boy who had given her a chocolate frog on their first run in - literally.

"Hmm...I like all the classes, but the subjects that really fascinate me are Care of Magical Creatures, Arthimancy, and Muggle Studies." She was sure Selina was going to raise an eyebrow at the last one. Kurumi couldn't blame her. Having grow up muggle, what could possible be interesting?
