"Sure Evelyn..." Finn grinned at her. He was totally joking, because he didn't really think her cat would be scared of her. It was her cat after all. "Mmm.." Finn nodded. "I'm sure it will pass." Hopefully, although he wouldn't really mind seeing Evelyn running down a corridor again/ Because it was quite amusing.

Was he that bored? "Well...I could be doing homework." Which he was pretty sure was even more boring, and he really didn't want to be doing any of that homework. "I was actually going to the great hall...." Because he was like hungry. But the problem was he kinda wasn't that hungry anymore, considering that it was quite a walk to the great hall from his common room. Bummer.

Hmmm, did he have a cat? Because then he could possibly tell her how to get this rebellious attitude to stop. She was going to ask him but talk of homework distracted her. Ugh, homework. She was completely tired of it. It should be illegal to give it out. Especially this year.

Foooooooooood? "Food sounds good." she said after a moment or so, glancing back to the way she had ran from. Food did sound good, just not the great hall food. 'Tis why she was in the kitchens in the first place. "Although, do you think it's possible to manipulate the house elves into changing the food we eat so I don't feel the need to run from the great hall every time I go there?"

...Totally serious.

Mmm. Finn liked this. Because maybe Evelyn would come and get some food with him. That would be very good, because then eh wouldn't look so such a loner. Although it was nice to be alone something, but that really wasn't like Finn, he liked being around people, so that he could show off and everyone would know how cool they are.

But...Evelyn didn't like the food in the great hall. "You don't like the food they do?" Finn eyed her carefully. That was a bit weird. Finn loved the food in the great hall, but then Finn loved food, so he probably would've eaten anything. "But...I do think that they would listen to me..." He eyed the prefect badge displayed proudly on his chest. Oh yes. He had the power.

"Well, it's alright I guess." she shrugged. There was usually something she had to pick off or move to the side of her plate since she just, wouldn't touch it, but other then that, it tasted alright she supposed. Not like some of her more favorite dishes. "I just think there are just better dishes out there we could eat-"

Meep?! House elves listened to the prefects? Well now...that was rather nice news. "Seriously?" That was good. Awesome. Totally jealous now! Eying the prefect badge for a second or so, her gaze flickered back to Finn before smiling. "Would you mind doing me a favor then?" Teehee?

"it's alright?" Finn laughed. Oh. So Evelyn was obviously a very picky eater. He would have to drop by the slytherin table one time, and see her eating. He was pretty sure it would be entertaining. "Maybe you should go talk to Tate about it....tell him you want better food." The thing was...he could actually go and see Evelyn doing that, but Finn would not be coming with her, because he kind of liked the food. It was yummmmy.

Haha. Finn shrugged. He actually had no idea, because well he didn't really talk to house elves. He didn't even talk to them at home unless he actually wanted anything. "Well...Im sure they would." The teachers liked him so...the house elves would too? "Oh...and what would that be?"

Was he serious? Talk to Tate? "And have him tell me to just deal with it?" she replied, staring at him as if...well as if he were a Gryffindork. "Besides, why trouble the busy headmaster when I have a perfectly wonderful prefect right here?" Hmmm? It was logical to just have Finn request this from the house elves. Actually, there was always Patroclus too that she could ask. Eh, if Finn wouldn't do it, then she'd ask him.

Huh. She was beginning to wonder where his Ravenclaw smarts were. "To...ask the house elves to make better food." Meep? Remember? 'Tis what they were talking about. Teehee, but she supposed since he was already hungry as it was, it was too distracting to think properly. Mmhmm, that made sense.

"Well...true." And Finn really didn't like how she was staring at him. He was only pointing out some suggestions for her. But...if she didn't want his help then he wouldn't help haha. "Oh...I'm perfectly wonderful??" Well he didn't mind getting called that actually. It was feeding his ego a bit more. It really wasn't that bad. "But maybe I'll help you..." He mused with a little grin. It probably would be a good idea to help her... considerting that she was Marie's friend. He... would consider it.

Oh. "I remember now." He laughed, pushing himself up from the wall. "You know...I've never actually talked to any of the house elves here before..." So it might not really work that well.

Perhaps, she shouldn't have called him that? Eh well, if it helped with her trying to get him to help her, then so be it. She'll just lay off the descriptive words for now, hehe. "Maybe. Maybe not." And maybe he'll help her? Well that wasn't the definite yes that she was looking for, but maybe was better then no. Even if half the time maybe was just another word for 'I'm too nice to say no'.

Grin. "Well, there's a first time for everything." Forgetting about Poof, Evelyn turned slightly to face back down the corridor. "So, you still hungry? Or am I walking down to the Great Hall by myself?"

Maybe not? Mmm. Finn knew different. Many people had told him that he was pretty cool. So he didn't really believe Evelyn. "Maybe I'll ask Marie instead." Although Finn did know that Marie had already told him how epic he was, and he definitely believed Marie. He was sure that she wouldn't lie to him. Or so... he really hoped that she wouldn't lie to him, because that would be mean. Finn would go and look into that later, once he had some food into his tummy.

"Of course there is." Finn laughed as he watched her turn to face back down the corridor. "Oh I'm very hungry." He smirked, walking a bit down the corridor, and turning to face her. "Come on slow coach."

Ha! Ask Marie? Why Marie....meep! Aw right, Mariiiieee. Eh? Raising a brow, she smirked as a silent chuckle escaped her. "I'm sure we both can guess her answer." Mmhmm, and she would've imitated it but she didn't want that getting back to her Slytherin friend. Would be horrible! Not to mention would be twice as bad if she got it wrong.

Blinking, her gaze settled back down the corridor, only to see Finn walking away. Huh, must've dozed off for a moment. Sticking her tongue out at the Ravenclaw, she smirked before following after him. Food did sound really good, even if it was the Great Hall food.

Finn laughed, but then he thought about it for a moment and nodded. Oh yes. He really could guess her answer, mainly because she had told him. So yeah. He already knew her answer. "True..." He grinned, because he liked it when Marie fed his ego. Even though it was already really huge. But Marie didn't seem to mind, so that was okay, for now anyway. Maybe he would decide to tame it down a bit. It would probably be for the best.

Now...things were a bit silent. Mmm. Maybe he should come up with a new topic of conversation. Oooh. Evelyn was in her fifth year. So... "Have you started your revision for your owls yet?"

"Fair enough," Jake smiled at Neptune, going along with the girl and ascending the stairs to the fourth floor. He felt better once there was some distance between himself and the hospital wing. Of course, then he found himself thinking more.

At one point, Jake intercepted one of the looks and let a small smile back on his face. "What's up, Neptune?" he asked her. "Aside from that stuff downstairs."

With Marie.

"I don't know," Neptune admitted, slowing her pace. She too felt better to be away from all of that. But ... worse, too. She'd wanted to see Jim. Needed to. SIGH. "I don't what just happened down there. Or what would have happened if you hadn't come along."

Funny thing was... Neptune sort of knew Jake WOULD be along. He was sort of comfortable and predictable that way. "Sorry I cried and look so.. you know." Sniff. He knew.

Jake only shrugged. Who REALLY knew what WOULD have happened if something was different... in ANY situation. The possibilities were endless and when Jake thought of this ANY time... it hurt his head.

"Well... we're here now. Nothing terrible happened in the waiting room. And hey, you can even see Jim when he's up in and about in the common room. None of us around to get in the way."

Neptune couldn't agree with that. Something terrible HAD happened down there. Irreversible bad things. Things that Neptune had tried to keep from happening, things said that she'd never wanted to hear... or would ever be able to unhear. Neptune leaned heavily into Jake and rested her head on him. "It's complicated," she admitted out loud, her thoughts here and there and forwards and backwards, answering unasked questions.

For one of the first times ever, she didn't much believe the beautiful from Jake either. He ALWAYS meant it, but this time... how could he? "You don't have to say that. It's okay." Paaaaause. "How are your ribs?"

Jake said nothing to that, only nodded at what Neptune said, kind of KNOWING that he needed to not make a big deal out of anything right now. And trying to forget that 'complicated' could really mean anything.

But then, he switched to shaking his head, disagreeing. He knew Neptune didn't believe him, but that was okay. One day she'd realise that it was true that he didn't lie.

"My...?"

Oh yeah. Jake had forgotten. "I'll live, I suppose. It was the bang on the head I'd worried more about." Mainly because a lot of the time, he'd hit his head in practice a few times and always been healed straight away. But he was boycotting Moretti so tthere it was. "But that's more or less fine now." Except that his thoughts were going off track.

"Did you see much of the game? Any of it?" Jake asked. He'd been looking a few times and now he was unsure of much that had happened in the whooooole game.

"Show me," Neptune stopped walking and motioned for Jake to bend down to her level. If he had a BUMP on his head, then it needed to be looked at. There were plenty of adults roaming Hogwarts that could make him better. It was IMPORTANT that Jake be okay and healthy, too. She cared a great deal about his bumped head and would MAKE someone fix him.

".... some..." Neptune avoided looking at Jake too much."I was running late because I went back to get the snitch Jim gave me." She chanced a glance, then feeling a BIT guilty, just reached into her pocket and pulled out the little golden ball. She'd meant it to be a good luck charm. "I was rooting for you both. I wanted you both to win." She DID. If Jake had a sincerity gauge, Neptune DID mean that.

Quidditch. Was. Awful. Neptune officially hated it.

Jake raiiiiiiiised an eyebrow when Neptune requested a look, and took a moment to work out how he'd manage to bend down without giving his ribs too much pain to deal with.

But then she mentioned the snitch, and Jake found himself supposing (hoping?) that she was talking about something he'd given her last year.

When there was no quidditch?

The year before...

When he wasn't on the team or even around?

"Neptune..." Jake said quietly, keeping his voice as casual as he could. "I think... well... I know it's complicated but... You and Jim... you... you were together, Marie said. In the past?" he added that... almost hopefully. "I think it's best to just ask now, rather than bring it up again another time."

As for the quidditch though... Jake held back from telling Neptune that it was kind of impossible for both seekers to win in a game of quidditch... that was just his pedantic nature.

He only... just hoped she didn't get upset at his question. He'd feel like the worst person in the world.

Neptune stroked the little golden ball and its wings fluttered at her touch. It hadn't been very lucky at all so she shoved it back into her pocket.

...Jake REALLY didn't want to show Neptune his injuries, right? She thought about asking AGAIN, but maybe he REALLY didn't want her to see. She had no idea why.

Nod. NodNod. "Yeah.... yeah, but it was ..." complicated, but she'd already said that. And it still WAS complicated. "... I wasn't very good at it. And he wasn't either. I told you I wasn't good at being a girlfriend." She HAD told him she wasn't a good girlfriend. Though she supposed she'd gotten better. "We broke up and now we're trying to be friends."

Friendship was ... also complicated.

Jake nodded at Neptune, not looking at the snitch. He'd seen plenty in his day, and they were his now. Even the solitary broken wing of the one from his first match. WHERE they were was another matter entirely.

"Do you miss him? As a boyfriend, I mean," Jake asked. It was just something he'd want to know, and that would be it. "That's my last question, I promise."

He gave her a little smile and looked down at his shirt, reaching down and raising the hem higher to take a look at his ribs, which were already bruising slightly on the right.

Great.

He dropped the hem of the shirt again, but he wasn't sure about letting Neptune see his head; it was quite tender.

Neptune was NOT prepared for that question. Her mouth fell open and open it remained. Bliiiiiiiiiiiiiink.

Luckily, Jake gave her something else to do while her brain (and heart..) tried to catch up with that question. She took the hem away from him and relifted to look. Gently, she laid her cool fingers against the blue and black of his ribs. OUCH.

"I... I don't know. We did it all wrong. He wasn't like you." That was absoooooolutely true. Jim and Neptune weren't ever crowned King and Queen and they never walked down the corridor together holding hands. "It was a long time ago, Jake." That was... also true now.

Again, it was just... complicated. There was no way to really explain why she NEEDED to be in the hospital wing with him. Or why she had his game winning snitch in her pocket.

Wincing EVER SO slightly with his face muscles when Neptune took a look (he was more worried that she might prod them... but actually she was real gentle). He listened to what she had to say and nodded. Jake would absolutely not press the matter any further today. Probably not ever again.

"Okay," he said gently, giving Neptune a friendly smile. "I think I kind of understand." As much as he could, at least. "I won't mention it again. It clearly is a complicated matter."

And he had an unbelievable amount of trust in Neptune. He trusted that she'd tell him if she wasn't comfortable with him anymore, or something like that. The young man brought his hand to the side of Neptune's face and held it gently. "C'mon. Let's keep walking."

Neptune fixed Jake's shirt back and leaned her cheek against his hand. She wasn't sure WHAT he understood, especially since she was constantly confused, but she was glad he did. And she smiled, too, for the first time since all the crazy started.

"You know what I don't understand?" She twirled herself under his arm and veeeery gently attached herself to his side with the least bruises. "Why ... why Marie was ... she was awful," Neptune finished in a whisper. She had NEVER said ANYTHING bad about Jim's girlfriend before. Oddly enough, she still felt guilty about saying anything even now, but ... it was safe to tell Jake. She was sure of that. Neptune kept close to Jake's side as they waited for the staircase to come back around to them.

Therrrrrrre! Things were already not as... weird. Well... for Jake. For now.

He went along with Neptune until they reached the staircase, but then of course had to wait, because CLEARLY when building the castle, the founders had run out of stone to make a full staircase... so yeah. It was something that irked Jake.

"The thing about Marie... is that she's really not a nice person to some people. I never had a problem with her before she made friends with those other two Slytherin girls... now she's the worst," Jake shrugged one shoulder. "Me and her don't get on... maybe she's half-werewolf. The full moon is coming around soon."

Hehehe.

"I wouldn't worry yourself. Maybe she's upset because of Jim getting hurt, you know?" She DID know. Surely.

Jake decided not to go into the explanation of Marie being a homewrecker. In his mind, anyway. Heh.

"I guess I understand why she's not nice to me," sort of. Kind of. Probably had to do with Runes.... among other things. "But why isn't she nice to you? I dunno. I didn't know she wasn't a nice person." Just didn't.

She didn't mind the stairs so much. They had bothered at first, having been afraid of them, but now she kind of enjoyed the forever changing route to the Common Room. Neptune pondered the safety of Jim if Marie WAS a half werewolf. Or a banshee.

"We're nice people," Neptune decided out loud, a bit random and sudden.
